Title: (Opinions) A&G cryptocurrency cards
Post by: dolphriends on January 23, 2019, 02:57:48 PM
Hey fellow treasure card hunters

What sport would be your pick for future crypto cards to be inserted in to, hockey, football, tennis, baseball again, basketball etc.  I think I would like to see hockey, what say the rest of you,  8)

I'd like to see them insert some redemption cards for actual bitcoin into football or baseball. Like a 5BTC chaser card would be nice.

That would be amazing, maybe insert a casascius coin redemption into packs, really get the physical crypto market on the map. :D

Upper Deck put dinosaur fossil redemption cards into their 2015 Dinosaurs line. This could work the same way. Even .25 and .5 BTC redemptions would be a hit. Would be a break from the norm, being able to come by some real money for the gamble of buying a $200 box of cards that has 8 cards in it.  ;D

Is there precedence of a major manufacturer putting cash or cash redemption tickets/cards/tokens in their packs?  Like "get the rare solid red card, get $100!"?  If there *is* something like that, then I think the odds are high of a BTC prize as well.  If there's *NOT* any precedence set, then there's likely a legal reason and I doubt it suddenly starts with BTC here.

This year with Shohei Ohtani, Blowout Cards offered a $100,000 bounty for the 2018 Bowman Superfractor. So taking the next step and just put the redemption for the money right there in the pack itself.

Hello internal theft city.  remember the mcdonalds monopoly game... Board walk/park place paid $1mil...same theft issue occurred.

Sort of why I'm not thinking it's likely (sorry to be Mr. Buzzkillington over here).  When something involving cash prizes is only tried a time or two AND when it results in cheating/scams/insider trading (see Monopoly), the odds of it continuing through other avenues are low asf.

They should make their own coin and use it like Panini Points.  8)

Panini sells digital cards too, and they have quite a market on ebay, surprisingly. You could integrate BTC into those, take the physical property out of it altogether.

I learned my lesson with sports cards when I was a kid.  Fool me once...

More 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle cards ended up on kids bicycle spokes than in collections.  The card was even double printed.

That would most likely be a form of gambling here in the US if prizes are cash.

That Dodgers crypto card is sweet!

I really don't understand the digital cards. Seems like i takes alot of the fun out of it. Real autos, grading, true 1/1s, relics etc. Maybe this how 95% of the people I know feel about BTCtc.  :D

Thank you all for your opinions and insight.  While it would be great to open packs and find real money inside, that just isn't going to happen.  I will be super excited just to see another crypto card insert someday.  Most everyone that got in early on the A&G cards that were in it just to flip the cards did quite well since they were introduced a short 6 months ago.  Hope everyone held onto some of their best ones..  Closing the thread now.
