Well, what do you think is the positive impact on the crypto industry, and at the same time what is the negative impact of it. It seems to me that cryptocurrency will be known because it will be use to a product by a big company and it will be on their upcoming latest phone, it will create awareness at the same time it can set aside those negative about crypto.What do you think?

It can create positive impact since if a big company trust this market, for sure the consumer will also trust it.This is a big move for samsung hopefully it can create the pump in the market so we can now have a better trend again, hopefully Apple will do the same

Negative because of
1. Security 1. Validation risk: who programmed the wallet? Where is the source code?
2. Security 2. surface of attack. Embedding the wallet directly on the phone greatly improves the surface of attack of potentially malicious attacker.
3. Privacy. Embedding a wallet in a phone link my wallet to my IMEI, that is linked to my identity. That phone comes with an embedded KYC
4. Personal security. Hanging around with such a phone signals you are interested in crypto. So you are exposed to physical attack. Even if you don’t actually hold any crypto in the wallet you are exposed to such a risk. (here an always relevant XKCD strip: https://xkcd.com/538/)

Instead I cannot think of a single advantage of carrying such a phone, instead of a regular phone with an open source app installed (second best, apple with a well known wallet)

I think, these are great news. Not because everyone needed this functionality. It's just a very good indication for the whole crypto industry. When such big fish as Samsung invests time and money into creating a new feature for its high-end product it means they did a thorough analysis of the market. So we can be sure that analysis showed high awareness of cryptocurrencies around the world.

This can cause a network effect. If other manufactures start integrating crypto-features into their products we may witness new limits of Bitcoin price very quickly.

Of course this is very welcoming news for crypto enthusiast. My only concern is the price, we all know that Samsung produces high end smart phones, so I'm assuming the price will be expensive even for casuals crypto investors. Second, if the phone is expensive, then why not get a hardware wallet which prices around the $100-$300 only? Also I consider it not safe, because your phone will be always online so the risk is there, just saying.

I think more people are started to aware of the cryptocurrency and a big company such as samsung also provide a services that could help people using cryptocurrency which i think there will be more people using cryptocurrency in future. I do think its a good thing and i do believe in future every people will have a wallet in their phone.

People don't really take security seriously, they think that just by not typing xxxxx in their web browser makes it safe.
Most hold their coins on exchanges although those have a record of being hacked and security breached, a lot have their wallets on the same computer they use for downloading pirated content or cracks for games, a lot don't even have a password-protected wallet.
And this because most are too lazy to be bothered by having ten times to do before sending coins.
So the phone will catch on, as long as people afford it because it will be easy to use.


But that aside, what is troubling me most is...
ETH support only??? WTF?

Samsung always gives good support to the crypto world. and I think that every technological innovation related to crypto is part of a long-term plan to become more perfect. now only crypto users can use S10 to store their assets. and primitive people only use classic wallets. but in the future it will be more perfect. because there are many crypto users.and In my opinion, negative impact will only be felt by primitive people.

Wow, if it is true, that would be great, the meaning of the representative is very important, and Apple will deliberately add it.

The adoption of blockchain technology by large companies like Samsung might at least increase people's trust in bitcoin. However, there are still many users of Samsung products who do not yet know the function of this blockchain technology, so maybe even though this technology already exists in smartphones released by Samsung, the features of this technology will not be so used by users.

I think Samsung being a South Korean company made it possible for them to apply such crypto wallet in there mobile phone. We all know that South Korea is big for crypto and having a crypto wallet in there phone made it attractive for the South Korean market or for any people outside of the country who is interested in this kind of feature which was not available in the market for the first time. Of course the question is will we trust Samsung as a company who will  we allow one of their devices for us to store big amounts of money in? There is also a question of privacy of data, do they have access on out private keys?

I don't really like this idea of Samsung putting an embedded cryptocurrency wallet at their phone. Those people who already knew how to easily make a wallet, they really know how their private-key would be in risk too because the developers probably know each private-keys in each phones.
How would they explain if someone got hacked in the future? And also your phone is at risk too if it is taken away from you then your cryptocurrency wallet would be in risk.

I think this is also a very good advertisement for cryptocurrency. More people will become interested in cryptocurrency.

This only means that cryptocurrencies are being recognize by big named companies such as Samsung. The technology innovation is beyond our expectation and really advance than we thought. Since the risk of having a cryptowallet is very high I can see it still a good start for cryptocurrency, everything will start at the bottom until they reach the peak of success and it is not impossible with the modern technology it will be having an improvement and soon the risk will be lessen or it will be taken away.

I'm sure that with time wallets will become standard applucations. Smartphones companies closely watch the market and the trends and they don't want to stay behind. They are very well aware that many of their customers are involved in cryptocurrencies and they want high end service.
It's true that this is also security issue but I think mobile phone protection is developing very fast because it's necessary to achieve certain standards. We are having our lives stored on mobile phones, not just crypto wallets, and that requires extremely high level of protection embeded in phones but also very high level of user awareness and self protection.

a cryptocurrency wallet doesn't really belong on your cell phone, specially if it comes pre-installed. you usually want to keep your coins in cold storage specially since nothing apart from bitcoin has any other usages in the real world so there is no point in for example carrying around your NEO, or ETH or something like that in your phone!
if they only limit it to bitcoin then there is no point in their wallet since we already have other android wallets like Electrum which are more trusted.

Correct, that's why I find it funny people commenting that its going to be good. I mean you always have your phones in your wallet with your money in it so its already compromise because I'm sure majority of us are going online with our smart phones, and there's also the risk of malware attack.

       I think the impact on cryptographic markets will be a positive one. Being very many owners of Samsung phones, they will know the crypto market and will want to join his cryptocurrency. Thus there will be a community on the crypto market much larger, which will contribute to the recovery of the market. The disadvantage is the exaggerated cost of the gadget.

As much as the advantages abound because of the default nature of what its going to come with the phone, the point of discussion is the end users. I don't see this going anywhere though or say reach the amount of impact the proposers of this project will get because of certain reasons:

An average phone users does not get to use to the maximum the default app on the phone without adequate information. Even application that are not crypto related are still having low patronage compared to this. When the end users don't know about crypto, the app would just be one of those "unnecessary" apps on the phone.

Another reason is I don't see someone who is exposed to the various reputable wallets now giving that up for an app like this because knowing the anonymity part becoming a thing of the past is enough to consider other options.

I saw this news a while ago and I noticed that the wallet only seems to accept Ethereum for now, this is a great stride and would help expose Cryptocurrencies to a wider range of people especially Ethereum.

Samsung is quite a successful and popular company. Therefore, I think that such news can have a positive impact for crypto. This suggests that it is developing and it is very cool.

Other than the security issues the phone with an embedded wallet is pretty good for one thing: Advertising.

Samsung is a pretty well known brand and anything they say they do will be seen by a lot of people around the world and of course we cannot forget that the best way of advertising is the references people gives to each other when they find something they like and/or talk about what something really does and how.

Are you willing to shell out around $1K for just smart phone with supposedly crypto wallet support? Not a good investment, imho. Anyways, not buying this rumour. For me this is just a marketing strategy and nothing else and I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung would have denied it by now.

It will further help in creating wide awareness about cryptocurrency. Since Samsung is a well known name in the telecom industry, people won't find it difficult accepting the concept of Cryptocurrency. There are two sides positive and negative. In positive it can be an advantage as there is a built in cryptocurrency wallet that serves us in a convenient way but in the negative side it can also harm our funds as we don't know how it was made or I mean the program it is using but the thing is Samsung has it's best reputation in electronic industry so I think it is reliable. The s7 was probably the most recent one where it was actually a flaw with the chip.

But, with all that I would probably trust more the Samsung wallet than an app, those are simply just too damn easy to get exploited, especially since there is now a third party involved with servers that can get hacked and malicious code injected via an app update.

It is great news. You know that samsung is one of the biggest cellular company in the world. And in their latest cellelur phone they installed crypto wallet. You may say that but the people doesn't know who's the developer of that phone and it might be coded with something that could risk your personal life unless if it is an open source code. That's why I don't actually trust carrying a phone which is crypto coded over a normal phone.

So they are now looking at developing their own token, called Samsung Coin. Will this bring mass adoption? 50-50 for me, their wallet integration doesn't support Bitcoin though, it's all altcoins so I don't know if this could be considered as factors for the global adoption that we all have been wanting for. Yes, their wallet is a game changer, but the effect is far greater if they would include Bitcoin.

Yes, you are right. If we cannot get special features except embedded cryptocurrency wallet, I think it's better for us to buy another mid-end of the android phone which have a low price too. But yes, that will lead to the adoption process from the android because we know that the android phone becomes a primary thing for many people.

It can increase public awareness about the existence of crypto currencies and of course, more and more people could join into the crypto world. It is a good form of marketing and hopefully there will be more big companies that emulate the steps of Samsung.

But the hype had died down already and we can't even weight if it indeed bring crypto closer to the masses. And as far as I know those crypto's who's initially supported in the initial release had a good run, unfortunately since the hype goes down, so is the price.

Emulating? I don't know, most smart crypto investors would only put small amounts of their coins in a wallet, because it is not secure, much better to invest in a hardware wallet than a expensive mobile phone.

I don't think anyone with sound knowledge of how vulnerable a rooted phone is would risk rooting his/her phone with an embed wallet in it, except of course the user done intend to make use of the wallet to store funds, otherwise that will be a very bad idea to root such phone,

Being a Korean company, I expect Samsung to be more friendly towards new ideas such as crypto-currency. I googled this news for quite sometime, but it looks as if this one is not yet confirmed. As of now, it is just a rumor. But in case Samsung includes a crypto wallet for the S10, then it is going to be huge. It will be a major boost for the cryptocurrencies in general.

Digital currency is modern, convenient, and quickly only remains for more people to create and join such ecosystems.

So far there's no big impact with these improvements but I think soon we will feel that. Yes big companies are now moving, recently the news about Facebook "Global Coin" and maybe some big companies will also follow this. I hope this phone will not be affected by the recent ban on Huawei, maybe samsung really tries to sustain its level above all manufacturer.

Well, so far it’s not weird that Samsung implemented such a thing. It’s not a first company that has done it. I think blockchain will become soon as popular as iPhone nowadays, but I’m afraid it will be more hype than usefulness.

Is here anybody who knows who does the wallet function? Is it good enough?

There will be many more mobile phone company that will follow Samsung to embedded cryptocurrency wallet into their phone. But if the price is too expensive, then I don't think that most people will buy that phone just because they have an integrated cryptocurrency wallet. People can use a cheap mobile phone and install another wallet address which supporting altcoin and erc-20 without any trouble.

I do not think that users of such a phone will keep a lot of crypto currency on the wallet , it is not safe .But on the other hand , knowing the technique of Samsung should be all at the best level.I believe this is a marketing move for most cryptocurrency users and a good smartphone.

I admire smartphone technology like Samsung when embedding a cryptocurrency wallet on Smartphonbe, but I still doubt whether it can guarantee the security of the wallet on a smartphone. if indeed security can be the best I will give appreciation to Samsung.

This might be the first step of samsung to cryptoworld they will create awareness by putting cryptowallet and in the middle they will launch their own coin, and for sure many will follow this because this is an emerging trend in the modern technology that many will be benefited to it.

Samsung is looking to integrate crypto with Samsung Pay according to that. I presume it's going to be Korea only. I find it strange there's still no mention of this wallet from any users, even stranger no indication of adding BTC. 

The fact that the wallet is limited only in certain regions is what makes this wallet lacks the attention of the crypto community. I do honestly own S10+, when I first heard that S10 have built in wallet I kinda feel pumped though after that only to bedisappointed with the fact that the wallet limited to certain region. Regarding the addition of BTC, I too just don't have a clue about this, maybe they still not be able to create a secured bitcoin wallet?.

Hundreds of development groups have come up with Bitcoin wallets that worked just fine. I presume they feel the future lies in other coins but that seems like a very, very strange decision to me.

Then again it's Korea focused and Korean crypto tastes seem deeply fucked up to me. Any country that has a higher trading volume in Bitcoin Gold than Bitcoin for periods of time is clearly filled with nincompoops.

Is there a list of territories where it's available? There's been so little mention of it I can't tell whether the wallet really is Korean only or not. Some elsewhere have said they found it when looking at available Samsung apps that you have to download rather than it being there waiting.

That is good , where one of the biggest technology brand holders in the world has started using blockchain technology and already has its own wallet to do a transaction. Of course this will have a good impact on the development of crypto currencies, other large companies will also gradually do so because the application of this technology will be very beneficial for the marketing of their products. On the other hand this will also increase consumer confidence and automatically make the price of the crypto currency is growing up.
