This question of "Can anyone or experts still predict/ forecast cryptocurrency nowadays" keep ringing in my head because early last year there were different predictions about the rise of the crypto market in general from the so called "crypto experts" and "analysts". But to my greatest surprise, at the end of the year I could only see maybe one out of all the predictions I read about becoming true.

This makes me deduce that the crypto market can't be predicted to some extent.

markets are unpredictable... regarding  cryptpomarket, is still more difficult to have an accurate forecast because of the high volatility. Anyway, it is pretty clear to me , that marketcap will rise in the longterm (more than 5 years), and this will become mainstream maybe in one decade, so less fiat will be used. why? because the benefits of crypto are obvious!

one thing that i have learned in the past couple of years is that if someone is actually a real "expert" he is not going to be wasting his time posting on the internet about his "predictions" ever.

so in other words whenever you see someone  who is claiming to be an expert and giving people predictions, then be sure that someone is full of shit.

to answer your question, yes it is possible to predict the market but why would anyone share it with others for free? all those who share are doing it for profit, it may not be coming from you "buying" it from them but it is profit nonetheless for example when they hype some shitcoin to be able to dump it at a higher price.

Your thought is correct. Crypto market cant be predicted, you'll never know what will happen to the market, about the price and events that can change few things in the market. Lucky you are because you have heard one accurate prediction, well to my memory I havent heard any of them got a valid prediction.

Probably many will still try, basically to see their name in the news. And probably many will make such predictions to show they (and their business!) do believe in crypto "and you should do to".

The question is how can you predict the volatility of the speculative market.  Not only those have claimed themselves as crypto expert. But there was someone who has even claimed himself as real satoshi nakamoto.
The crypto market can be affected by so many factors. That creates unstable condition to the market.

On this current situation of the market probably there's still can but in my view not 100% sure , because market become very unpredictable after the another previous results of the movement of growth rate which is expectation is progress but opposite happened . That's why nowadays  experts are confused. for me it's not reliable to rely on others predictions which much better to make a TA with our own risk to prevent regrets because mostly predictions nowadays has an opposite direction in my view.

Everyone can predict if they want to but not as many as the experts in predicting can really predict the result, people can only speculate because they don't know what's in the future. If we are talking about the actual movement, nobody can read that absolutely. But he was talking about some expert trying to predict the future, and obviously everybody can do that right now. Even you, me and other people on this thread can do that. And about our total marketcap, nobody can guarantee us anything whether it is going to rise again or not.
remember, right now cryptocurrency is pure of speculation. The value is created based on speculation and hype unless we have something called a real usage in our real-life. There is no guarantee that cryptocurrency will survive for a long time.

I think most people have stopped predicting now a days due to consecutively and repeatedly proven wrong including the genius mr. Mcafee as well. I have seen even the biggest shillers and bull fans silent now and this may end up in a big bull run itself, yes market is tricky ;)

Price Predictions i heard are either in the favor of the Predictor or have Value without being predictions in first place, either way
when you try to follow them you should not end up believing without making your own view on it.

Personally i have the Opinion that many things are not Real and should entertain people to be in the favor of a certain Topic/Project and therefor lead into the Hype/Pump/Prediction of a Predictor.

No one can exactly say what will going to heppen so don't care about prediction based on their assumptions or even by same technical analysis since we already knows that the market will not be act same as before.

You can predict the prices based on your own opinions and move your investment plans on it just doesn't respond to others.

I do not believe anyone, because it's difficult to determine which of them is an expert, two can be completely opposite predictions. Particularly impressive are the 'experts' who came to this field less than a year ago and teach everyone as if true gurus. I have my own opinion, I listen to intelligent and experienced people, but cryptomarket is really impossible to predict.

Analysts give the best prediction they can with the data that they have but the farthest away you try to predict the harder it is, and when we consider the volatility of the market of cryptocurrencies that is many times higher than other markets this means that trying to predict what is going to happen in one year is the equivalent to try to predict what will happen in other markets during the next decade, this should put in perspective how difficult it is to get your predictions right and why almost no one does.

Many predictions failed and they don't to be humiliated to the fact that many thinks it's going be the same this year.

Some FUD never stops but as much as predictions to the market, they haven't stopped at all. Everyone is just tasting and balancing to have that kind of better prediction than last year.

One more thing i almost forgot.. Nowdays there supposed crypto gurus and advisors, are proliferating like cockchroaches. Many of them try to make the crowd think they are some kind of genius.. but in last instance they really dont have any idea,  just promote themselves while taking advantage of the ignorance of people willing to invest. SO, better do your own research instead of trusting anyone.

In a bull market, everyone is a genius predicting higher and higher prices. Very few get it correct in a long bear market like 2018.

No experts can predict the volatility of crypto at the first place until now their predictions only came from in the analysis of the market chart and this does not hold a strong grip that they can predict the market future! Market is so very unpredictable and the only people that can manipulate a crypto price are those whales who holds a very large volume of crypto & fiats which could move a price in an instant with just a single sell off's.. but still those predictions can be our guide in holding or selling our crypto's and by reading their statement we will have an idea for the next step of the crypto..

Only for a short time, unfortunately many factors that help volatility become unpredictable. I hope that steps will be taken soon to change this.

I think some crypto analyst could do that but it is actually hard to predict the market situation. There are lots of predictions and speculations but it is hard to predict the market situation because if that's so, then there should have been lots of millionaires now. What important is we'll still know when to buy and when to sell.

Those are only predictions that may or may not happen and it was actually a result of our observation on how the market goes. Just like Tom Lee who predicted so much about Bitcoin price that went wrong and blaming scam ICO projects which is true. These scam projects makes cryptocurrency a form of scam by those person who lacks knowledge how it works. The market can be predicted but still depends on the situation.

Theres no such thing as experts or crypto-guru in investment or even in crypto type of investments. If there is then there are many billionaires already. Although there is a technique in not losing big amount at least bu observing the price history and volume. Im still in the process of studying this also.

It seems to me that today it is impossible to make any forecasts. In general, the whole situation with the cryptocurrency market is unpredictable and it is very difficult to say something. Even graphs of price fluctuations for certain coins are quite unpredictable.

Those predictions at the early last year did not come to pass because no one can accurately predicts the movements of financial assets. We should expect time to time predictions failure because the market did not always obey what we wanted.  If you have decided to follow those unusual predictions then you are not a good trader as a good trader follow the fact through analyzing both technical and fundamentals indicators and place trade base on his conclusions.  No big forecasts for now because of the ways those predictions has failed .

Unless those experts can prove that they had predicted what was going to happen in the market before it happened then they do not have any credibility and we should not believe anything they say since it is very easy to do a bunch of predictions and then when you get one right to claim that you are a genius when in fact the number of predictions they got right is incredibly low.

Even if they somehow managed to make a correct prediction in the past, that doesn't mean all their predictions will be accurate. Even a wild guess can sometimes hit it's target at times. That's why you don't really have to trust these so called experts since their predictions would most likely be as good as yours lol.

yes these experts are great at forecasting the price of bitcoin. Tommy Lee was spot on with his prediction, only off by around $20,000 :D and let's not even mention john mcafee. Face it everyone, there is no way of knowing unless you are the one involved in price manipulation.

Everyone should have their own predict, either some expert or just people who have an investment in cryptocurrency like me and you. I think you had a prediction againts the price of cryptocurrency, and I just curious, what price do you predict for the price of bitcoin? The price of ETH? XLM? and more. If you look at price movements in 2017 then the predict that you guessed will have a high price, because your basic research is the high price. This is what happened to some expert, they used 2017 as a sample to make a prediction. Whereas a prediction not everything happened/true, because it's just an illusion. So as the type of person who only relies on predictions, they will never invest long.

To predict Crypto I think it's very difficult because of the unstable market conditions. And I think that will only make us hope. What I'm doing now is trading every day. So I did speculation and I had to be sure of what I was doing.

No. Check out forecasts of experts according to BTC price in 2018 year, all of them expected 30-50 k for BTC and only a few of them predicted 3000.

nobody predicted $3000. don't be a fool. all those who said low prices such as $3k never stopped there, they were saying all kinds of nonsense about bitcoin. not to mention that they were saying it long before the rise even ended! for example most of those who have been talking about bitcoin drop were saying price is going to drop to $1000 back when it was $1200 and was rising up towards $20,000

And that is something that is mostly forgotten, if I could really predict what the market will do in a very precise way then I will not share that information with anyone because even if the amount of money that I had available to invest in the market was low I could easily multiply it many times over in one year with that kind of skill, so we must always be very careful about following the advice that we read online because even if the person that is giving the prediction has good intentions the prediction that he is giving cannot be 100% accurate.

I think its hard to predict cryptocurrency situation this year. Some says its the start of the bull run but the opposite happens. With too many exchangers being hacked all of the sudden and some exchange closing and some declaring bankruptcy, I would say anything can happen. Just always secure your assets. Predicting the future in cryptocurrency wasn't easy somewhere about a year ago, but now it is getting harder because of low marketcap, with this marketcap it is way easier to manipulate the price either it's a pump or dump, it means way less liquidity needed comparing to for instance when it was at 7k to push the price up or down

I dont believe the price is determined by the market after seeing the price movement last year. This was a very easy thing to do in a bull market and we saw that come into play in 2016 and 2017, but what happen in 2018 when the bear market kick start, all the so called expert failed with their prediction and most people that followed them got really REKT

It's a nature of this investment to predict the price to attract more buyers and make a hype on that particular coin as we have many newbies will trap with this strategy from those pretending to be experts. We have no law that will make them payable if their prediction will not hit or within that range. We can't deny that those crypto experts are using some technical analysis for their predictions but in reality the crypto price has no pattern and it will depend on the daily demand in the market. It's normal that they will predict as they want to create publicity that people will buy to increase the demand and if the demand will grow the price will rise to higher level. When BTC was 19000 USD in Dec 2017, everyone was predicting that BTC will cross 100,000 USD in 2018. Based on these rumors, many bought BTC and ended up losing their money.

You can predict, but how they will come true is another question. Now I think all we can do is to guess and wait where the market will go next. The specific time when growth will begin and there will be a sharp rise no one can. One can only guess that it will happen in a couple of years.

What e are doing in the space majorly is gambling, thanks for 2018 that exposed most of these twitter crypto traders and brought a bit sanity to the space, the market is still very young and technical data is not quantitative enough for now to base our predictions on, most of the price movement is based  majorly on news rather than technical analysis

Anyone can predict the possible price for the cryptocurrency but not sure it will happen. Because expert predictor are not 100 percent sure when they predicting price of the cryptocoins it depends also the news and to the information that they get to the cryptowoeld so they will cretae a prediction. Yes, in your words, the market is moving towards the other side. Now it is difficult to predict whether the prediction will be correct. Those who are experts, think that any such big changes can happen in crypto. But it will be difficult to say that it will be soon.

Thats all just speculation no one can predict the market 100% succesfull. Cryptocurrency market still young and still can be manipulate with bigs player, lets say if the expert making some analysis to the market but the big players manipulate the market so he get the wrong analysis right.

People are still predicting and they predicting are still coming to pass.  I have seeing that there are predictions that come out that said bitcoin if cross $3700 will hit $4000 and that has happened.  I believe that those predicting positive for bitcoin is going to come to pass and that is our hope.

Well i doubt that there are experts who were able to make accurate predictions in past anyways. These so called experts miss predictions more often than hitting them. Don't rely on them. Do your own research to base your own decisions on so you won't have any regrets whatever happens.

we all seen previous production in the last year but there is no other changes will happen while we are predicting it so I don't have a big attraction in prediction about future so I will go with the flow if anything will happen it will ok for me.

Crypto markets are so volatile that very few forecasters have been right on predicting the prices and that too not all the time. It is just easier to hold good coins for the long term .

Nothing's gonna stop us from speculating. And most of us maybe right when it comes to reasoning but I think no one is really accurate when it comes to reasoning on why something is coming up. Even the experts can't really explain the volatility of coins right now. But we are still hoping for the best.

When it comes to prediction about cryptocurrency, i think it will be harder nowadays. Because crpto is so volatile and unpredictable. But for me, if we look at the charts on coinmarketcap we can tell that crypto is rising for now. Hopefully the price' increases will stay longer and higher.

everybody can predict the market, but always remember all predictions is not always right, even an expert,,

It's hard to know what's the intention of those people that are getting the attention of the media. If they say good things, I'm ready to doubt their words because they might be doing that to make the people buy so that they can dump. And if they say bad things, they are ready to buy so that people will start selling. The market's attitude is hard to tell so it should depend on how you read the market base on your feelings and the current events that you are following.

Cryptocurrency can actually be a little predictor of future developments, cryptocurrency will be used to reduce the use of banknotes so I believe cryptocurrency will be very good in the future because it will provide the best solution in the future.

I am of the opinion that predicting 100% accuracy might be impossible. But predicting with assumptions that are close to the truth, I'm sure can. Especially by using news or signal parameters associated with positive news about crypto.
An example is the emergence of news about Facebook that will create crypto coins, or Visa Cards that will issue crypto debit cards, obviously this positive statement will make public trust increase and the impact of prices will rise.

Anyone can predict. But only some can predict it right. Not only experts but also amateurs, can predict it. However, since expert have much more knowledge and experience, they have more chance and possibility in right prediction. Still, they will not correctly predict it ever time, even experts. Some thing may have change in the present compared to the past which they may overlook and didn't include in their analysis and reference.

Yes, they can still predict future cryptocurrency price but more often than not they are completely off the mark. Your own prediction is much better than trusting an "expert" from an online blog. It's not really that difficult to tell price movement once you get the hang of it and learn to access multiple sources but that doesn't make you an expert in any way.

They get influenced from those followers and readers so some market movements are moving towards their directions, but yes it's much better to do your own research and assessment, since you will be using your money  better to rely with your knowledge, many factors can be consider and its depends from
your own understanding.

I also believe that our prediction will be much better than many online experts because until now, the crypto field still has too many new things, we are temporarily unable to accurately determine the value of this market, and with such non-transparent numbers, everyone's market prediction rate is almost equal or if someone has good knowledge, their exact prediction rate may be higher but it is not significant. In short, anyone or even we can always predict the market, the exact rate is not inferior to the experts, so believing our selves is better than the experts

In my opinion the crypto market is very difficult to predict especially to be able to predict exactly when to go up / down, because the crypto market price cannot be stable, I mean that every time it can change up or down and of course the altcoin doesn't have the same pattern every month / year so it can't be ascertained.

yes, crypto market is more volatile if we comparing with the other market, such as forex or stocks
but, with this volatility we can make a lot of profit buddy, but of course if we can buy or sell in the right time  ;)
not only sell in profit, but sell when the market going to wrong directions, wich mean not same with our predictions

no one can really predict where the crypto direction will go, everything is just for the sake of personal or group interests, to make the hype inside.
so just do what we believe because everyone can only speculate.

You made this post long time ago but I do believe that you will agree with me that things has seriously changed and we have see many predictions that are now coming to past. I strong belief that we have many good traders here and I have followed some of their predictions and most time those predictions do come to past.

yes, there are still experts who can predict accurately the cryptocurrency,only that those who can, doesn't even just predict loudly it is those who are not sure that are restlessly predicting and causing confusion here and there.

Honestly i am not so good to predict cryptocurrency market nowadays. My prediction about last year didn’t go well and i had to face the disappointment after all. But what i believe and keep on my mind that crypto will rise again this year and so on.

My view is that the predictions made by prominent voices often aren't dispassionate logical assessments, but rather attempts to swing the market in a desired direction. If some banker says Bitcoin will drop to $0, then quite often I think this is because they desperately want it to fail, or else want it to drop in price so they can accumulate cheaply.

I think that the so-called crypto experts and analysts can only partially predict the further movement of the market, based on their knowledge. But since the crypto market depends on many factors that are very difficult to take into account all at the same time, it is almost impossible to predict anything.

indeed for sure in the future predictions no one can know for sure because investors also need to know that is the nature and risk of investing in the crypto currency itself and most importantly is the confidence and patience of investors in investing with crypto currencies

The cryptocurrency markets historically tend to follow a cycle of boom and bust and that's about the only constant, whereas the appreciation of individual assets can be speculated about by using technical and fundamental analysis and researching marketing channels and social media groups for new announcements

I have also heard and monitored lots of prediction last year only to made those guys a fool as their predictions did not happen as desired. So for now i still used to read more predictions but for guidance use only and not to expect too much from it to avoid future disappointments.

as you say. in fact our predictions about market development are meaningless. the problem is that the market is already in control and we have never known that movement will recover. so indeed what we can do is wait for the movement to improve.
