Title: Project Shamba : Starting a small farm in 2019
Post by: projectshamba on January 26, 2019, 08:48:21 PM
Hi everyone,

We are currently starting a small farm in Quebec, Canada and would like to share our experiences in making it happen.

We've started a blog and would very much like to get your feedbacks and comments on all the decisions (and there are many) that we're going to take

Thank you!

Good luck with your farm.
Don't share only the good things, share also where you struggled what problem did you face, etc...

However, I have a question:
How that come you're getting a 0.03$USD/kWh rate "tabarnak"

Haha!

Of course.. sharing our fails is part of the deal ;)

Well, we've got a very long and low cost contract with a private institution.

For private, that's actually really good. I'm in Ontario here so I know the "drama" when it comes to power.

Where in Quebec are you guys?
If you can't answer that I'd completely understand.

Mining isn't dead, it's just not AS profitable unless under certain conditions (low power costs, certain business connections, etc)

Its isnt really dead but if you do try to stroll you will find a bunch of them telling those lines and even newbies which doesnt really have any experience at all with mining is going together with the flow.

There's so many online calculators so it's annoying that people just don't go and check lol.

@OP, how long are you estimating the hardware you purchase will last? Or is that undecided/estimated at this point.

Thats why i do ignore those kind of people who do keep whining or do tell those things because they dont know on what they are talking.

About on estimating of your hardware on how long it would last.It doesnt have a precise time because on my part, 1 year of usage of my miners i do resell it and buy for higher tier cards.
As long you do know how to maintain those cards specially on temperature control it wont bust up easily.

I have to say one thing, you guys have some balls! Investing in a time when the Bitcoin price went down constantly and the difficulty going up, must have been a very scary scenario. I also have to say, I have seen people investing in new businesses in 3rd world countries, when other people were running away and when things stabilized in those countries, those companies made huge profits.

Those companies had a huge head start on their competition and they also became a recognized brand in the local community. I hope mining farms like yours will be rewarded in the same way, when things turn around for Bitcoin.  ;)

Interesting story. Hopefully it'll be profitable. Good luck with the farm and will follow the developments.
