Title: Bitcoin continues to decline?
Post by: raden1922 on January 29, 2019, 06:25:07 AM
Do you think bitcoin will continue to fall to prices below $ 3000? I saw the market conidisi kept red, without green. At the beginning of 2019, there seems to be no sign of a change in a better direction. What do you think about this? Please give opinions that are simple but easy to understand. Thank you!

I don't want to think about it but there's really a potential that it will be reached. We're $3,425 as of the moment and it keeps going down, so calculating the few bucks away there's a chance.

I'm still good with it which means just because that the beginning of this year wasn't so good the end of the year won't be good too. Just give it time and let the market go on its own. There's more space and time for this year to recover.

At the moment, yes. But this doesn't mean that it will always be so. The movement always changes its direction, positive to negative, negative to positive. More and more people are selling bitcoin and looking in the direction of altcoins. But I still think that Bitcoin has a great future, it will outlive us all! I'm here until the end! (but honestly, I don’t think that the end will come)

I saw it can hit 2x, even 1x in 2019. Bearish doesn't still end in this year. I don't want to see that. But market will decide it. I hope it will end soon in haft of year.

It's hard to impossible to make predictions. It's crypto winter, the money is out of the markets.
It's the worse period in the market cycle and nobody knows for sure how long will last and how low will Bitcoin price go.
There are hopes that at some point this year the trend will reverse, but nothing is certain.

For long term hodl'ers it is not such a great time :(

Long term hodlers are still on profit. They have Bitcoin since before the days you heard about it and they went thru another such market cycle. For them it may be actually much easier than for the newcomers.

Ok, first of all, nobody can give you a 100% correct answer on this question. Whatever they say would be pure speculation.  :(

We know that a SEC decision on a Bitcoin ETF is pending and that it would definitely have a huge impact on the price, but that will not happen within February anymore, because of the US government shutdown.

We also do not know if there will be any other positive or negative news that would be announced soon that would impact the price, so we just have to wait it out. We know that people are still investing in mining farms and also manufacturing and distributing of Bitcoin ATMs, so this is not going to end Bitcoin if the price drop a little more.  ;)

It is quite easy to speculate and when more and more people are speculating that Bitcoin and the rest of the cryptocurrency market can be going down then that vibe can be sending micro-shockwaves to the market and then what we are fearing can be coming true...as if a self-fulfilling prophecy. Now, this one of the nature of the free market even if sometimes subjected to manipulations by some powerful forces behind the curtain. Yes, the way I am seeing it now there is a big chance that things can be going down until it can meet the level of resistance and then after that it can start bouncing a little again. This is just another manifestation of an ongoing and persistent bear market which we all love to hate but there is nothing we can do but watch and observe.

Why so panicked? Bitcoin can drop to 2k but it does not mean that the crypto is done, it is just the end of the bear market similar to this...if you are holding for a couple if years then you should not be affected by current prices...

The Bull run has not taken off fully yet. Even when it (Bull run) starts, that does not mean the price will price will continue upwards without fluctuations. This is just one of the fluctuations the predictions need to read the next support level.

I only say a little about their lowest bitcoin price in 2019, if you like you can see my thread here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5043315.msg48421410#msg48421410), you might be able to see what I analyze there about bitcoin prices and their low prices, it's just speculation you don't need to believe but if predictions I am right, please consider it just a coincidence

well there are two factors working against that

the gambling nature of american banks

and the huge foreing trade deficit of the americans that is now held by especially east asian state funds.

if you would evaluate bitcoin in euro it would decline much more painfully than usd.

i dont think there is hope, but there are still chances that the above mentioned 2 sins, could ease down bitcoins decline.

it is true that Bitcoin is currently going down, and in my opinion whatever decisions we make in the bitcoin trade will never harm us, as long as we want to be patient and stay afloat.

bitcoin price is pretty much stable right now and it is not about to change for no reason. the only thing that can happen without any big news is a rise to begin since it is time for a rise because of the increasing demand. but any drop would require a big negative news and since this is a very low price below the market value of bitcoin such news needs to be a real big one otherwise it won't change a thing.

It's pretty obvious that no one in this community has the 'crystal ball' to see what the future holds. You also have to understand that the market works on cycles: bearish and bullish. So currently, we're in the bearish trend which means that their is a big chance that the price will fall or continue to fall. Of course, we don't like what we're seeing, however, we can take the opportunity to buy more bitcoins and wait till the market goes on a bullish run again.

In fact, this is good news for new investors who want the price of Bitcoin to be low, because they expect to be able to buy Bitcoin at low prices, so I personally always think positively in each of these price reductions, and for investors who buy at high prices, I think there is no other way besides holding your Bitcoin.

We do not know if the price of bitcoin will might fall below $3000 or it will remain at the current price. I think its better to remain on its current than to fall below $3000. This year 2019 many people have big hope where they think there will be another bull run.

Youre not that new in crypto and i know that you know that no one knows how and when the bitcoin price will go up or down. All we are doing now is to speculate things up and its not a 100% accurate. For now, the price remains stable on $4K and hopefully its the bottom and start to increase tomorrow.

I'm still strong for believing that it couldn't be badly going down below $3k. But if it will continue to drop, we couldn't do anything is to stay calm and not taking a move that would boost for it declining situation( panic selling).
We need to be in faith and think positive for its future,  otherwise will just helping it to get worsen.

there is no way in hell that bitcoin continues to decline.

however there is a pretty good chance that we see another attempt by the whales to pull the market lower and break a new low support line and set a new record for this round before they let the jump up to take place.

for the time being you should get comfortable seeing $3k-$4k range for some more time and either accumulate or be greedy and risk missing out.

By the looks of it, yes. However, we can never tell what is ahead of Bitcoin. Right now, it might seem to continue to fall down but we'll never know when it will rise up again, and by that time comes, all negative Bitcoiners out there will come running back to it again

At the moment due to the Chinese Lunar New Year Celebrations coming up, many of the Asians are selling right now so they can have much disposable income available to spend on themselves and their families at this time of the year. We also just had Christmas and New year as well. Along with a one long year so far of bear market, this has caused too much pressure on Bitcoin and it's price, along with the rest of the CMC. For this year we will only see some minor pumping and dumping of Bitcoin and Alts and if one is lucky to pick a low cap coin that might do the multipliers, then you might make big money this year. i think though after Bitcoin halving or towards this event, we might see an intrinsic rise in the price of Bitcoin and the altcoin markets once more.

Yes indeed the current Bitcoin price continues to decline little by little, but I think this decline is a result of the many needs that hit the traders, so they want to exchange Bitcoin with USD, so prices decline. But this is good news for buying Bitcoin, because of low prices.

There have been similar crashes in the history of bitcoin and I must say that the drop in % is still better than the previous ones.
The biggest drop was in 2011 when the price of bitcoin dropped down by 93% . People though it was the end but you can see now where the price is.
Even after that bitcoin has faced crashes just to recover and bounce back harder each time. I hope the same thing will happen this time, we just don't know when.
Find below the screenshot of the crashes happened in the past.

You will find it difficult to predict the market, it can be further down or moving forward, with these bad conditions don't expect too much in the near term, because recovery will take a long time.

Easy to understand, maybe keep holding and if you still afraid, don't buy it until you really think it is on dip. It really can help than we force ourself to do trading without any preparation in this bear market.

Bitcoin is really unstoppable of going bottom and it is expected already by many speculators since there is no sign of bull run it will continue to find more bottom in the future. Better to hold our coins during this difficult time since the bullish market in 2017 reached new ATH it seems like it is now taking their turn.

As in the quote bitcoin is really unstoppable, when it goes forward as well towards the decline. Also these price fluctuations were taking place without any external sources. At times to manipulate the market large volume holders used to create statements relative to etf approval and so on, and now scenario has changed as people have gained good knowledge about the market.

There is no singular support on which the daily price rests,  and one would need an understanding of the various price factors to know what most affects the price and the direction it's most likely to take.
Cost of mining is important, amd determines how high the value can rise at a given time.

Why looking for an immediate sign of "good direction"? History of reaching the last ATH to what it is by now will just repeat if the same hype will happen today. Let the bearish trend dominated the whole so we can determined the so-called "right price" without a hype.

Why not just go with the flow and just do whatever things that can give advantage to you since nothing we can do about the current price trend. Reaching below $3,000 or what is always possible as we speak. Even how good the resistance to withstand the below $3,000 mark attempt we can't just speculate that it will really happen.

Please give opinions that are simple but easy to understand. Thank you!

Definitely right, it's difficult to predict the future value but I think this will have a better hope because some countries are already adopting the technology which is not bad at all. The only thing that makes us worry is the decline but as what the majority says, BTC is good for a long term investment. This is how it behaves and it's up to us on how to handle the pressure.

It's only consolidating now so it doesn't show any signs of continuing on going down or will go up so I doubt that even if we are staying at a low price it shows signs that it will once again go down. Remember consolidation is only a sign that it will make or break Bitcoin but it doesn't show it on being a side on with the bears, the same can be said even if the consolidation happened in a bullish market. So the only thing we can do now is to observe signs of whether BTC will side with the bulls or with the bears.

The beginning of the year has almost always been a bad period for cryptocurrency, and this year is no exception for that matter. Also this is just a continuation of bear market from last year, and it will probably last for next 6-7 months, except in the event of something very positive which can trigger the market on upward trajectory.

It is also possible that 3000$ is not final bottom, and it will be tested few more times this year. Although for some this seems like a bad situation, it should be kept in mind that this is just a good opportunity to join in crypto wagon. I remember all those who were disappointed with the high price just a year ago, and now they have chance to buy at low price. Unfortunately for most of people market is not driven by good fairies and there is no magic which can make price go up just like that.

It did fall to the 3.3k levels but it did bounce back to where it was stagnant yesterday. It is still very possible that bitcoin can fall below $3000 this year and the current price is not the bottom.  The bottom is still very far from the current level as the 200ma on monthly chart has not been touched.  If you desire to buy at the bottom then you have to hold as from next month we can start to see the direction of the market.  January has been an uncertainty time in the cryptocurrency market and we have to wait for February and March to be able to see new direction.

I wouldn't say that the price is declining I would more say that is still some status quo. Some changes in price that we see are just smaller corrections but actually the trend from the last year continues.
If you ask me the market will continue this way for a while without major changes. It's possible also that price will fall even under 3000$ but I don't expect such scenario.

It didn't decline so fast, but due to more panic holders the price went down slowly and tried to recover back in few percentage. Furthermore, there's always a positive trend that will happen in an unpredicatable period of time. We should be patient on waiting for that in the next coming months, because it's not that easy to be meet.

Look at the market, downtrend is still active. Looks like price is trying to find some support, but judging by the markets its sims impossible. We can`t break $4000 and stay there. People are careful this days, looks like everyone is waiting bakt, or ethereum constantinopol, what ever that is, market is waiting something big to happen. I`m chillin this weeks, I`m waiting that to happen, and sooner or later it will, we just need to be patient.

That bitcoin would drop below $ 3000, i do not even think about it. Even if this happened, panic will come again and many will sell. But, i believe it will not happen.
We need to stabilize the price (not a few days or weeks) and then we can move up. On the other hand, there may be situations where altcoins can nicely grow in value.

That is certainly a possibility and it is a scenario that we should contemplate but I do not really think that we will see a price that low, and if we did, it will not last long because the whales and investors looking for great opportunities are not going to let go the opportunity of buying bitcoin for a price below 3000, and as we know when the demand for something goes up its price do the same as well, so if you are waiting for a price like that I recommend you that you buy as soon as possible otherwise you'll probably lose your chance.

Thank you for your opinion and also a description of speculation. I think the difference in analysis is natural, depending on understanding and thinking. Bitcoin continues to decline does not mean it will continue to plunge into the abyss, maybe this is just a season and will change to a green season. But at least I have hope that this condition will change in a better direction, even though there is no sign. But I am optimistic that it will change better.

Well you know what? I don't care anymore lol. It's kind of stressful keeping watch over btc's every rise and fall. It did fall to the 3.3k levels but it did bounce back to where it was stagnant yesterday. I guess if ever it's going to decline further it won't be as panicking consider the drop we had all throughout 2018.

If you know bitcoin trading and understand the charts well, then you will know that bitcoin price will always rise from the support. As soon as price touches the support level, there are good buying there and the price rises a bit from that level. The danger here is that if prices touches the support again and again, a time will become when it will break the support and fall further down.

Inform of encouragement to us as a long-term forex trader, Bitcoin cannot continuously going down.  The law of cycle will  not allow that and at the same time it cannot continuously going up.  Those that makes money from the market are those that understands this law and follow it.

Bitcoin is moving currently very near to 200 moving weekly average and this is acting as a support for bitcoin. If you follow the trend then bitcoin will not fall below this average and with passage of time this average will move up.  So for me, this is the bottom for bitcoin.

We're now nearly reaching $3k and for me that's the bottom line for this year.  I know there is a huge resistance   pushing it up but it won't be enough to lift it up totally.
We're are not totally sure if there is another fall happen this quarter cause we aren't controlled with the market.

It is hard to make a final decision that we are now at the bottom price, yes you are right that we aren't controlling the price but there are some manipulating on this. They can't control but they can manipulate the price, so as of now let's wait and grab the opportunity will market is too cheap to buy Bitcoin and other cryptos.

Do you think bitcoin will continue to fall to prices below $ 3000? I saw the market conidisi kept red, without green. At the beginning of 2019, there seems to be no sign of a change in a better direction. What do you think about this? Please give opinions that are simple but easy to understand. Thank you!
I think bitcoin will not fall below $3k again. There are a lot of adaption in cryptocurrency this year and I'm looking forward for more. Also, the level of support in Bitcoin is very strong and as of now there's no sign of pull back.

It has not shown a recovery because crypto conditions are still fairly critical, try to be more calm and keep holding, the market will definitely be able to pump high.

Yes, it might happen, as what I have viewed the video link on youtube posted by Jet Cash post in Bitcoin Discussion here, The price of Bitcoin is going down because the price is going down. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5105528.msg49565215#msg49565215)
Even the CEO of Twitter social media says "Bitcoin currency is the native currency on the internet" they are supported with Bitcoin and they have a Cash App also that is supported with Bitcoin. No doubt Bitcoin will soon raise up soon even this bearish trend happen. However, as what they have said, only time can tell. So let's just wait at the right time.

I do think that it will go decline this year minus the ETF, bakkt and other hard forks because it is a complete reversal of the market.
We might find bitcoin price around $2k+ or something but let's not lose our hope because i do believe that in 2020 there will be a big bull run that's going to happen. We will just have to wait for that year to come.

If more weak holders will ride with the whales the directions falling to that is not hard to reached, it's all about how believers  manage to stay strong while seeing things continue to fall down, reversal will happen only if there's more pressures that will show up and bring new investors in.

We have to assess each interpretation that we've got in order to make a better call and continue to prosper with our trading activities.

I hope that in this month the price is not down too deeper and stable at that range of price. But we don't know what will happen with the market and we could only pray that the worst scenario will not happen. The bitcoin market it seems moves slowly, and the order was not too big, and I think people are waiting for the next news so they can decide to buy or to sell. But the price still declines and wants to go down again because the red candle appears in the market.

Many scenarios that might occur, the price of bitcoin is indeed a very popular thing for many people. many people find out about their predictions and of course that won't work. all depends on the users of bitcoin, when the demand factor increases, the price of bitcoin will increase. all this will determine is from all of us, the users of bitcoin.

This kind of speculation have been taking place for months. Every month starting it is expected to have a price increase, but to the expectation till day what we're experiencing is decline in the market value. And now it has gone far low reaching low to $3400. So, it is good to have patience than selling low.

It is understandable, people have been losing money for a year and they want to recover some of that money they lost, but it does not seem like many of those predictions are based on something solid, so the most likely outcome during the next months is that the price will be close to the price we are seeing today, this can be good or bad depending on your perspective, if you are willing to take risks this can be great since you can get bitcoin for a price of 3500, but if you cannot wait any longer to sell then the lack of increase in the price can be very difficult to accept.

If the price of $ 3000 is not final for the decline, then this will be an opportunity for someone who has large funds to be able to buy at low prices. I imagine the price of bitcoin fell at $ 2000, it looks fun for those who want to buy at that price, but it's sad for many people who have bought when the price is over $ 6000. But they certainly realize this is the risk in crypto.

This seems that some of the big players are just awaiting the prices around 3k and they will buy in bulk which will lead to huge price rise. People will make huge money if they stay invested now rather than buying at high price or wait for further correction as it could start to rise soon.

Regardless of the fact that Bitcoin has some probability of falling below 3000 - I will not give in to these provocations and will not sell my coins at such a cheap price, for me the fluctuations of $ 500 are of no interest. I am a long-term investor and not a trader, and I have my own logic about this.

I do not understand the need for whales in bitcoin community. Everyone is either afraid of whales (and angry towards them) for dropping the price by selling a lot of coins all at the same time making it worth less or they love the whales for buying a lot of coins and increasing the price.

If we had a lot of people who buy and sell bitcoin constantly and even at this price if the volume was x50 of what it is today then we wouldn't be caring about what whales will do because we would have such a high volume that what whales do wouldn't effect the price of bitcoin.

We should be focusing on getting rid of the whale dependency by increasing the volume of bitcoin and all other coins and just make it a stable economy instead of this whale run speculative and manipulative show we have right now.

Or big players may still opt to wait until the price drops lower before buying lol. They can even sell in bulk to make that happen 😆 though if we are going to make a recovery, i doubt it'll come from a bull run. I don't think we're going to get the same movement as 2017 for a long time. It's going to be a lazy, boring 2019 at least for the first half.

That is a possibility that the market might go down lower from this position before the next recovery but I do not see any wild rallies but will built steam eventually and it will touch atleast the present all time high valuation but I expect the recovery starts by the end of this year.

It is hard to get rid of the big investors or whales in any market as they control the market and that is the only reason why stock market has a regulation in place about no inside trading, bitcoin is not having that kind of hindrance and inside trading is prominent in this market, so never think that there will be a market without huge players.

But you cannot have such huge volumes to begin with because the whales have most of the coins, in fiat you can weaken the whales thanks to the increase in the money supply but when the money supply is fixed as it is in bitcoin you cannot do the same, whales will never disappear and we will keep being extremely dependent on them in the short term, but I honestly do not see the problem if you want to be successful in this market the only thing you need to do is to copy them and their movements.

Yes, the price of bitcoin is kept declining in the market, makes many people to think negative about the situation. Regulated exchanges are also caught doing all kinds of nefarious things

But I don't really think that it is manipulation and lack of regulation which is the root of the problem here (i.e. speculative and manipulative show we have right now). Even if there were no manipulation going on, that wouldn't change things to the better in a big way. Probably, we wouldn't have such extreme levels of volatility, but you can't really expect stable prices from a highly speculative asset. Volatile prices are an inevitable result of Bitcoin's speculative nature

The only way to turn off this show for good is to change Bitcoin into a real asset having real value by far surpassing speculative one. How to actually do that is a one zillion dollar question, though

Not if you increase the price of bitcoin. If you keep on buying bitcoin in the end "whales" only think of their profits and eventually they will sell, which means if you have lets assume 50+ billion volume daily instead of 2 then you will keep the whales on their toes and you will control the market as a whole not just couple people. It wouldn't be the poor but it wouldn't be the rich that controls the market.

It will go wherever it goes and no big one thing could change it. When the volume is this low whales do control the way you say they control but that Is because they can, however when its over 50 billion dollars they will put their coins into the market as well making it everyone's game instead of just them. They will not be capable of changing the market which means they will not have a reason to keep on playing these games.

That's an old tune, and I remember quite a few people were singing it in the second half of 2017 when prices started to surge for real. Their whole idea was that with higher prices we should somehow expect the market to stabilize. But even before the late December 2017 crash I was telling that it actually works in quite the opposite direction, and with higher prices comes higher volatility

You guess who was proved right in the end

Even though many people don't expect this to happen but everyone doesn't do anything, they can only follow the flow that is happening on the market today. The decline for some people is natural because any investment will definitely experience the same fluctuations as bitcoin at this time. But, we need to know, the market situation will not always experience a continuous decline, there are times when the market trend will turn around, we just need to be patient to wait for that time to come while saving to increase the assets we have.

Bitcoin has been predicted to rise and fall many times. No one has been very accurate in their predictions but looking at the place where bitcoin's price is hanging, it is very easy to predict that it will further dip to below $3000 than to predict that bitcoin will rise to $5000. So all these are cheap predictions that people are circulating all over.

Many people have been disappointed by the decline in the price of bitcoin, but until when will continue to be disappointed. These days the conditions have started to improve a little, but will it continue to rise? Of course it can't be predicted, unless ETFs start giving the good news by agreeing. Maybe it will make the price jump up.

You don't need to worry about decline if you have trust in btc that it will go up again in the right time. People complain on why the price moves different from their expectation. It seems they still doesn't know that we have short time in up and we have longer time in down. Wether you like it or not, that's how it works. It's all about patience.

The fiat volume and the price of bitcoin are irrelevant, we are buying and selling bitcoin and the whales are holding bitcoin not fiat, so it is irrelevant if the volume in terms of fiat skyrockets, the whales can still crash the price with their bitcoin by altering the supply available for sell and they can make the price go up by making bitcoin more scarce by holding it, so more people and more fiat money in the market will not really make a difference.

I really believe that what you worry about the price of Bitcoin will drop below the price of $ 3K will never happen and there is no need to panic and be pessimistic. we know that after falling steadily from the beginning of 2018, the price of bitcoin in recent months has never been too far between up and down. so I estimate that this price is quite stable and won't shake it to fall below $ 3K. so this is a very positive sign, that bitcoin can indeed keep prices from falling freely. I have a prediction that in Q2 this year Bitcoin will show its strength again. I am very optimistic that Bitcoin will rise again and it is clear that crypto followers will feel that way too.

We all believe that Bitcoin will increase, especially in 2019 there are some positive sentiments that can support the direction of the development of bitcoin in the future. Some important points such as the increasing number of places that accept Bitcoin payments can be a reference for our belief in Bitcoin this year. Hopefully what happens in 2018 will not happen again and we get an opportunity to achieve positive results in the beginning of 2019.

It is too early to predict of what will be the future of Bitcoin and the whole crypto currency this year as we have 10 months left before next year. There are lot of development that will need results after implementation in which we really don't know if these developments will favor Bitcoin like if ETF will be approved this year in which many are hoping that it will trigger the bullish run.

It's still be depending from how people who believes in this industry will manage to hold and keep investing, I also looking for more good movements
while waiting for the bull run back, those things you mentions can start the good trend as many countries are also been reported to acquire/accept bitcoin
for transacting inside their jurisdictions, adoptions is the best thing to happen and will trigger the climbed instead of moving downwards.

Hard to predict but by continuing the progress, rising is much anticipated than decline.

I think the main trouble could be the unexpected drops, thats what killed the economy so far, from the beginning of the bear with the mt.gox turstee selling like 34 thousand bitcoins at the same time to the latest craig wright selling god knows how many in half an hour to pay for his hash power provider, the trouble has always been the whales selling their coins all at once. If we can have a decent year without the big unexpected drops than we can go big for sure.

Aside from those type of problems bitcoin will be going up and more and more people will want to buy bitcoin both because of the crypto companies getting bigger and providing more stuff and also for stuff like BAKKT and so forth so they could invest. Basically without any bad interruption bitcoin will definitely go up.

well, sometimes people are so quick to conclude something and that makes them pessimistic. I think you're right, we don't know the developments that will happen later. we don't know, maybe there are many things that can make bitcoin prices rise in the future.
