Title: TrustTalk: Show untrusted feedback by default?
Post by: DireWolfM14 on January 29, 2019, 08:33:24 PM
I'm wondering how many of you folks have the Show untrusted feedback by default feature turned on.

I have it turned on, I want to see what feedback has been left by the folks who are not DT or listed on my custom trust.  It's surprising what you can learn.  I don't have any specific examples at the moment, but I seem to recall there was a highly ranked member who used his position to take advantage of newer members who were not on DT, and thus avoided getting red tagged for some time.

How would you folks feel about applying a score for untrusted feedback if it was only visible on the user's trust wall?

Well, I obviously like pie so that's gonna skew the result.

I don't see it as a big deal to click to show untrusted feedback and I do that often. Having it collapsed by default helps to keep the trust pages smaller so my setting is off. I would not want it to be used for scoring because it would be too easy to manipulate.

No. Should show untrusted feedback's by default. When a DT members tag a user then tagged user send rationality tag to DT members which is ZERO value. Its not too hard to click on show rating (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=1980983#). You can set your profile show untrusted feedback's by default, it's your choose.

I have untrusted feedback on. I trust untrusted feedback with the same weight as trusted feedback. The colors and numbers don't really do much for me, I'd rather see feedback from someone I've traded with previously or that I know holds a good deal of respect or dedication to the board, than from anyone else.

Its fine as it is, people can choose to what extent they are willing to mitigate risk for themselves. No one is forced to use the trust system at all. Do as much or as little research as you'd like before trading with someone.

I voted to leave it as it is.

Untrusted feedback generally has too small of a signal-to-noise ratio to make a worthwhile score. Plenty of scammers would have great scores since they leave themselves fake positive trust from sock puppet accounts. Users who are interested can view the untrusted feedback, or even show it by default on their profile if they wish. Newbies who don't understand the difference between untrusted and trusted feedback probably shouldn't be shown a second score, which in many cases will be the exact opposite of the trusted score, and will only serve to confuse and obfuscate. Once they understand the system, they are free to turn it on by default for themselves if they so choose.

Though I believe in DT feedback but I read the untrusted feedback also.
Somebody having neutral trust but having 1-2 untrusted feedback from general users of this forum (user are not posting shit, not in any kind of shady activities, or account not created to just to distribute random feedback), I will consider that user untrusted.

Leave as it is.

Reason is simple. Even if untrusted feedback can be relevant or legit, it is still accessible.

However most negative feedback given by "newbie" accounts is made without understanding the system and when trust feedback should be issued.

The score would never be representative.

For instance take someone that is busting scams. They will most likely spam him with red with multiple alt accounts, and this will never be counterbalanced by people trusting him, thus he would be so red you could see it from the moon.

This might only work if trust ratings were moderated. The majority have no idea that one is allowed to write anything they want on someone's trust wall (with the exception of DOXX).

If it were default, newbies would get a great picture of the likes of The Pharmacist, me, et al. :D

If we make untrusted feedback also as visible then there is no reason to have DT system here.So better to keep as it is and make the forum better with valid trust ratings. :)

I think it would be convenient if all users (including guests) will be able to see the trust score and rank of the member who left feedback.

Suchmoon said (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4893744.msg49236299#msg49236299) this solution was implemented before, but unfortunately it was removed then due to technical reasons.

For me, it can be shown as default or we can still leave it as it is. In fact, we already have the user profile settings for this category, just like coolcryptovator had said, it will only depend on users whether they like to view it as default or not.

It might be also be good if its shown by default, no need to hide anything I guess. I almost forgot, Although most of the feedbacks coming from our untrusted network is full of trolls, it may look bad for our profiles :P

If untrusted feedbacks are shown it will freeze your browser when you open the trust page like of lauda, vod, TP, etc. :D and its too hard to scroll down.
Since it can be seen anytime by clicking the untrusted link, so just leave it as is like what other's saying.

Since untrusted feedback doesn't affect the trust scores, there is no mean of showing those by default. If anyone wants to check, simply one click is okay for checking those out.
