We are only now releasing a coin as some grin enthusiast prefer not to use PoW models for various reasons. Yes, that's kind of the point. We like the concept of Grin but the inherit trust involved is for many not appealing. As you may have read, we believe the privacy aspect should come from the places users spend their cryptocurrency and not so much so the cryptocurrency itself. This is why we intend to build platforms designed to give privacy to the user, as much or as little as they prefer. This is why the Grin name is used.
