Title: TheBigCoin procedure
Post by: OmegaStarScream on February 02, 2019, 07:26:38 AM
I've come across TheBigCoin (https://www.thebigcoin.io/) which is a service that is supposed to buy things in your behalf in the case where the site you're trying to buy from doesn't accept bitcoin.

For me, it seems like their statement regarding their ability to buy anything "worldwide" is too vague. I want to know how accurate is that, how fast the service is etc. I also don't think they have their own warehouse to reship, so do they directly send you the products to your address using your name? In other words, If I give them a store that ships locally to France, should a provide an address to France only or I could use something else and they'll do the rest themselves?

I've read the FAQ but I want some reviews from people who already used the site before preferably but anyone is welcomed to post.

I don't think TheBigCoin is that famous right now as i think most people are using Purse.io, so it's probably unlikely for you to have an answer unfortunately.

They have a topic on the Services Announcements section; probably try asking there: Topic: TheBigCoin - Pay with Bitcoin Anywhere Online & Anonymously! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2152963.0); Unfortunately though it looks like the OP of that topic isn't active, and I'm not sure if the OP is actually affiliated with TheBigCoin.

Also, their support email: support@thebigcoin.io

And lastly, check the few reviews on this Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/8szrk8/has_anyone_used_thebigcoinio_service_lately/

@mjglqw
Purse.io is only to shop on Amazon (unless things changed since)

@OmegaStarScream
Such services don't have their warehouse, they just buy it on your behalf, otherwise, the fees would be higher than the initial 3%.
It's up to you to check if the store can ship your order outside France

Thanks for the alert... this actually was announced in 2017 from the thread mjglqw shared (but OP is active til Dec 2018, recent enough I guess).

LeGaulois is right, Purse is only for Amazon. It's still the most decent way to get around shipping restrictions I think but don't count on the discount to mean much, you'll probably still end up paying the same amount if you're in an "exotic" location.

@OP, a "warehouse" model is more like Groupon. They place a call to order, then they hope at the cheap price, maybe 500 or 1000 people order, then they can buy at bulk price, they just repack and ship it all out to people who order. So you actually don't get a guarantee when you buy it, they just try their best to fill it.

From one of their Trustpilot responses -

I assume all it is is a guy with a Paypal account, a few credit cards and bunch of exchange accounts who flogs your coin and buys your stuff.

It probably gets a bit more involved with certain items. I seem to remember when checking them there were some items that went through instantly and other buys that necessitated contacting them. I can't see any mentions of restricted countries or reshipping.

I've also seen mention of them not taking any orders at present.

edit - they've confirmed they're not sure when they'll take new orders on their Telegram group - https://t.me/thebigcoin

The site seems a "drop shipping" where you can request a product that you want to buy and then he will buy the product with FIAT and use your address to ship the product. It is called a drop shipping but the problem the fee is too high. Check the quoted below.

We charge between 7% and 12% of the order subtotal, or the minimum 5 EUR/6 USD/5 GBP fee per order based on the currency you process your order. Customer service fee is calculated using a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the order subtotal, size of your order, cryptocurrency which customer payment is received. Some cryptocurrencies have high transfer fees, or some like Monero requires us to make two transfers to reach the exchange wallet, otherwise, we can’t change it into FIAT.

I'm trying to find the shipping fee terms but I don't find any from faq page if shipping fee is included when ordering a product.?

Also, you can notice on the footer of the page there is two link where you can buy ethereum and bitcoin with a debit/credit card. I don't think how safe they are but I don't find any real reviews on their official thread shared by mjglqw except for one high-rank member it seems an alt?
