is it legit for a terror group to fund with BTC ?

It does seem legit, but I suppose it could just be scammers pretending to be Hamas, like those phoney dark-web hitmen-for-hire a few years back. You can't trust anyone these days. :-\

You'd be surprised how stupid people are what they will donate money to.  Gofundme has a lot of ridiculous campaigns that raise millions of dollars for useless causes or they are just completely fake.

It depends what you by "legtimate".

I have nothing but contempt for Hamas but armies need to raise and distributed funds. BTC is an effective way of serving both those aims therefore

Now, that being said, it is also "legitimate" for their adversaries to make funding, any funding, of Hamas to be illegal in their jurisdiction.

I doubt its legit, and even if it is, funding them will also mean funding terrorism. In the past they got a lot of financial support from western  countries but what did they do with those, their leader secured for himself a safe haven several feet below the ground while putting his military in sure danger, they used the money in purchasing weapons from their neighboring Arab countries, made tunnels underground for terrorism while families, children and old Palestinian citizens are starving, rewarding a citizen who could kill an Israeli with a huge sum of money. Rebuilding their nation is not in their number one priority, building schools and hospitals and educating their children are far from their goals as long as they have the money to buy weapons then its ok.
