Title: "We found 2 results related to your search" blockchain.info is crazy.
Post by: vit05 on February 05, 2019, 04:36:04 AM
There is no such thing as 2 address on Bitcoin. So, why do they found 2 results?

This is not a great user experience and will just confusing newbies.

I mean, I personally don't like BitcoinCash and I definitely don't hold a single satoshi of it; but in a business perspective, this is just blockchain.com simply catering to a wider audience whether we like it or not. The BCH community is definitely a lot smaller compared to the BTC community, but their number is still significant; hence blockchain.com is trying to capture their demographic. So instead of the BCH community using https://explorer.bitcoin.com/bch, they can now use blockchain.info as well.

They could easily put a dropdown menu instead of "go" where you would be able to change the coin that you wanna search. Or maybe something else before clicking on the "go". And on the main page, Bitcoin BTC is select, people could select Bitcoin Cash if they want to search for BCH. The same for ethereum.

BTW, it would be a cool feature of a search engine to start to offer. Google, duckduckgo or bing could easily do this.

In this case, it's merely a UI/UX problem. Not about blockchain.com adding an explorer feature to a coin that most people aren't interested in.

Heavily agree.

How amusing that 5 BTC and 5 BCH is equals to $10  :D

Much better if when some user hit the search button with the address as the default explorer, btc transaction/info will be shown and there's only a button for BCH info with the details.

They're a business which is trying to saturate both sides of the market, as they really don't care what coin you support. They're simply just trying to grow, and then collect fees from people from buying btc and other alts through their platform.

I hate when people think that businesses want to cater to their random set of views.

I still don't get why they show 5 BTC = $10 though. I mean, like what, whyy? What are they trying to do? That BTC/BCH is cheap so people can start buying?

While in fact the addresses have 0 BTC & BCH balance (according to blockchain.com). Not only they show wrong exchange rate (or they haven't implement API/back-end yet), but misleading user that the address contain 5 BTC and 5 BCH

That might be, but for business which has run for years, this is surprising and funny at the same time.

Exactly. People forget that these businesses are, well, business! Which existed in the first place to make money, not to push personal agendas.

I was heavily annoyed also when people were calling Erik Voorhees a "sell out" because of ShapeShift adding KYC. In the first place, I'm quite sure Erik didn't want that, but well again, ShapeShift is a business. They simply need to follow what the government tells them to do if they want to keep the business afloat.

One thing to note is that Roger Ver, (the man who is arguably the person behind BCH), is an angel investor of blockchain.info .

You really have to ask yourself if he really isn't pushing any agenda. It still sure looks that way. They never added litecoin/any other fork to Blockchain.info, why did they add Bitcoin Cash -- just because roger is a large stakeholder?
You tell me.

I just checked blockchain.com again and when i enter Bech32 SegWit address, blockchain.com also says "We found 2 results...." which is ridiculous because BCH don't use SegWit

We're talking about blockchain which known for slow upgrade / support. They even haven't support Bech32 SegWit address on their blockchain explorer yet.
Can't imagine how long they'd fix this problem :P
Huh. You can search for the adress, but when you click it, it is redirected to the main hub as it includes an "illegal" character.
Here i was hoping they finally added bech32 support  ::)

Well, in this case, there's definitely a good possibility. But unfortunately we can't really know for sure if that's the sole cause of them adding BCH on the explorer(as well as blockchain.com's wallet still not having SegWit support as far as I know; like what the hell). In this case though I'm personally on the "to be able to target a bigger demographic" reason; but yes, I totally get what you're trying to say here.

Stop using blockchain.com and switch to way better looking alternatives such as https://blockchair.com/

It has way more features, allows you to filter based on metrics such as block size, input/output, block value in $$, etc. I haven't opened blockchain.com this year at all, and there is nothing that I miss about it. People stick to that site because they are so used to it. Ditch it. It doesn't provide much usefulness anymore, and they still have plenty of bugs they don't seem to care about to solve.

Blockchair supports Litecoin, Ethereum and Dogecoin too.

Thanks for the share up man! Im one of those people who got used to search up with blockchain.info/com when i tried to check out a certain address but on the thing you have shared
which is very useful which can give you out 6 explorers. Only BCH i do hate the most. lol

You're right Blockchain.com developers code from inside a cave so don't expect much from them. Also, are the listed addresses could be the related transactions and not the same address searched again.

I used to really like their old interface where everything was easy and not confusing piece of shit as their current interface.

If blockchain.com wanted to increase their user base they would have been one of the first to adopt Segwit as it means lower fees for all. They've had a long, long time to do it and there's no sign of it arriving.

They're not doing that and possibly never will because Roger Ver is at the wheel. This move is another bit of disingenuousness.

If it's to be a multi coin explorer then let's see the coins with more usage than BCH. There are a fair of them.

It's easy for them to not adopt SegWit right now with how the fees have been near their lowest ever point (lowest with all blocks nearly full) for a long period of time now. They will continue to not upgrade as long as this is the case.

I want to see how they will react when the network gets clogged up and people slowly start to move away from blockchain, because that's exactly what will happen when legacy fees are expensive and SegWit fees super low.

If they still don't upgrade with the fees shooting up sky high, then you can be sure that they never will, but that toxic attitude will very likely be their downfall with how saturated the wallet part of the industry is today....

I recently checked my Segwit address and was surprised to see BCH address too. But seriously, BCH before BTC?

Why would anyone watch and wait?

It's just the same as Bitpay. Bitpay must have lost a ton of potential business with the fee madness. As soon as an option came along that solved some of that in case it becomes a problem again they would've adopted it.

The reason they didn't is because Bitmain is a major investor who wants to push people onto their increasingly dead chain. Same goes for this. Almost everywhere that doesn't have BCH fingers in it now has Segwit options or has stated it's in the works.

I removed all of my bookmark with my Bitcoin addresses of that site since that BCH shill scheme disease infected it.
I really liked their UI, the colors and the layout; the seemingly intentional incorrect dollar equivalent isn't much of an issue to me but adding one more click in every address/transactionID search, I'm out!

BCH now has "q" addresses by default, why do they have to assume that visitors who pasted BTC addresses (1,3,bc1) in the search bar is looking for BCH chain in the first place? It's been a while since they've added BCH chain to the site and adding a BTC/BCH button in the search bar isn't that hard in my perspective, everything looks so intentional (the UI and overdue SegWit support).

Just realised how long it's been since I used blockchain, now that I've just stuck to using block explorers that have no issue with bech32. How long have they been putting it like that?

Doesn't really make a difference to me, but I can imagine how confusing it would be for a newbie. Might even lead to other mistakes down the line. They could definitely have done it better. Blockchair still looks the best IMO, everything's laid out on landing page, no confusion (though can get really busy).

This is really curious when people get mad on why do exchanges, wallets and so on have bitcoin cash on their website. Business is business, it's supports what brings profit. Roger's website is absolutely different situation and please anyone don't use it for comparison.
I had some problems with blockchain.info I couldn't find some transaction on blockchain.info and also sometimes on cryptocypher, blocktrail is amazing, wish it wasn't bitmain's product.

I faced same kind of troubles with blockchain.info since the BCH fork and the segwit integration within btc blockchain. Therfore, blockchain.info should seperate the two blockchains btc and bch, and update its database to support segwit addresses and transactions. Those solutions seems easy to be implemented and can't understand why the blockchain.info company doesn't take them into consideration as urgent priorities.

They changed. Now instead of a "go" there is a dropdown menu. And you can select which currency to search. Just as I had suggested. I think it may have been a mistake that they corrected right away because of user feedback.

They would really changed it up because lots of users will surely keep on criticizing their explorer specially when that BCH thing is above on BTC when
you tend to make search for a specific address. Its always been nice to see just the way it is.

It looks like now a presentable and well organize platform with and the heading face of a page. This my speculation why they have to change the domain name site from Blockchain.info to Blockchain.com, they think before that this wallet intended for a wallet and info as well. From the last domain, the word is .info and now .com

Now they have dropdown button and added ethereum but still, it's useless doesn't work whether the btc and eth, the same result appears. Whereas it can be fixed within a day or two for a certain search function but they didn't, I wonder if they are lacking developers to fix that.

Edit, its working now but the testnet isn't, much better if they remove that option there though.

Haha, just as I suggested above. Coincidence or are they silently reading Bitcointalk threads?

Now we only need the same drop-down menu on the search tab in the home page.
Shame that they are not responding nor creating BCT account to respond for it's one of the best blockexplorers available in the web (UI/speed-wise).
