Title: Mining computer for Gridseeds
Post by: jjj0923 on March 11, 2014, 12:56:15 PM
So... I have a 20 pack on order and will hopefully arrive later this week.

I've seen where people are controlling the gridseeds with Rasberry's and although I know nothing about Rasberry's I've read that can run a version of Unbuntu so I assume they can run the linux version of cpuminer or one of the other pgograms - of course this is assumption on my part so please correct em if I'm wrong.

My first love OS wise is Linux - Centos in particular - I have 6 but love Centos 5 versions - like 5.5 especially since I can easily deploy multiple instances on used HP (Dell) DL360's using Vmware Esxi 3 which is as stable as the rock of gibraltar.

In any event - my near term goal is to mine two different Altcoins simultaneously - one of the coin with a 20 gridseed array and another altcoin with another 20 gridseed array.

So - my question is this and it's phrased interms of an assumption on my part.

Can only one instance of cgminer can be run on one computer at a time? - Is this true?

Because I want one instance to mine for 'coin a' (controlling one of the gridseed arrays) and another instance will mine for 'coin b' (controlling the other gridseed array).

If I can only run one instance of cpuminer on a computer at a time, I'll just create another virtual machine on my vmware server and run another instance of cgminer on the other virtual machine.

what am I overlooking here and what do I need to be concerned with when hooking up all of these gridseeds on the usb ports.

thanks in advance for any help and or insight

Jeff

Just use one instance of CGminer, and then add two pools. Then just set the quota to 50 on each one. That way half your power goes to coin A and the other half to coin B but yet you can see it all in one instance of CGminer.

cpuminer != cgminer
