Title: Can you buy National Lottery tickets with Bitcoin in your country?
Post by: Kakmakr on February 16, 2019, 06:23:49 AM
I am just curious to know if you can buy lottery tickets for your own national lottery in your country. I am not referring to all these scam gambling sites with supposed "Provably Fair" lottery systems.

I bought some lottery tickets online and I was only presented with the old traditional payment options and I figured it is time for us to approach these Lottery operators, to ask for a Bitcoin payment option.  ;)

If enough people ask for this, they just might consider giving us that option to pay with bitcoins.  ;D  What payment options do you have for online lottery in your country?

The supposed national lottery ticket in my own country can be obtain simply by the use of traditional means, as digital currency has not be implemented into our payment methods. Our National Lottery ticket is made available by our local currency but believe that in due time the government will allow bitcoin as one of it options for payment as they are much working on it(Bitcoin) adoption.

Bitcoin itself isn't full fledged legal in India as of yet, and with gambling being illegal almost all across the country. I dont think its possible to buy national lottery tickets here with bitcoin. Ive heard news that some forms of gambling will be legalized soon, to boost the economy as it is a booming business and if regulated properly, it would surely fetch a good tax returns for the country's GDP.

We do not have bitcoin payment option in buying lottery tickets and we still use our traditional money when we buy lottery ticket. In my country even in online and offline lottery we still accept traditional money but once we fully adopt the cryptocurrencies maybe in the few years they will add bitcoin payment option.

Paying bitcoin for lottery still not available in our country, it still not implemented here but I don't mind paying bitcoin for lottery, paying fiat for it is much better here in our country, it is just a small amount and lottery stall here in our country does not have their own internet connection. Our country needs to have your own internet connection because all internet connection here has password. LOL.

I can't buy lotery tickets in my country. in my country BTC and the crypto world are still banned and the government still rejects crypto development. besides, I don't like playing lottery. and in my country public enthusiasm for the lottery is very low. so for temporary, my country is not a good place for lotery and crypto tickets.

Unfortunately, I can't in my country, cryptocurrency is not accepted by my government and is hence not so popular. Not many outlets want to be associated with it.
Approaching would be good, and would tell this companies that the community is ready for Bitcoin payment option.
I do not gamble, I would be more interested in online shops accepting Bitcoin.

Same here  . we can only use local currency to buy lottery tickets but crypto adoption here is now spreading like a wildfire .

Other payment methods such as credit card and debit card are not even accepted on lotteries when they are already legal and recognized by all of the people around the world .  how much more with cryptos ?

Crypto can be only used for buying or paying other kind of service but not for purchasing lottery tickets . sorry !

No, in our country, the government doesn't allow to pay through Bitcoin and maximum people don't want it, they think it is illegal. Sometimes I feel wonder how people still think Bitcoin is being used by the criminal, not in a good way! Buying tickets, lottery or any other goods through Crypto payment would be a great experience, I hope I will do that openly in my country. People will know and appreciate this great technology in the near future.

It wont happen in my country because of two reasons, first is that gambling is an illegal thing and secondly is about crypto currency regulation in my country as the only allowed payment method is Fiat money.
Basically gambling was legal thing in the past in my country, I remember when I was child there were so many people around me buying lottery in a place and they were waiting for the lottery resuly every week in one location (where they bought the tickets).
It will be great if gambling will be legal thing again in the future and we can use crypto for it.

adoption of bitcoin as a currency has not happened as much as I hoped in my country, instead it is still mainly treated as an investment and an online way of payment. so things such as buying national lottery tickets is a far away kind of adoption that we can hope for at this point.

besides I don't think people would be that interested in something like that. they still prefer paying cash for something like a lottery ticket.

i find lotteries the worst thing that someone can spend his money on. there are lots of ways to gamble your money away and lottery is not one of them. and when it comes to buying its tickets with bitcoin that would be like throwing away something extremely valuable to get something worthless in return with a tiny chance of making some money from it!

You should change your perception of the national lottery, because in some countries, some of the money are used to fund charities and also job creation. I have seen several movies that were funded by the national lottery and also the development of young people who has some potential in art and culture and also sport.  ;)

A national lottery can help to fund projects that are not funded by private companies and/or individuals. I see my lottery participation as a charity funding excersize and not money wasted on nothing.  ;)

I can't imagine using credit cards for buying lottery tickets, it feels like I ain't going to win since it was just a " credit ".
The chances of winning will be less. :p

This isn't far to happen, anything can happen, crypto is still young and will go far, sooner.

We will just wake up one morning, a newspaper man have his barcode in his bike. " BTC accepting here "

So far I'm not aware in my country that you can used bitcoin to buy national lottery. It's still the old way here, you need to fall in line, mark your numbers and have it scan and they will gave you the ticket. Of course I would consider if I can pay with my bitcoins, but so far, it's nada, although I lived wherein crypto is embrace and maybe the government hasn't think about that options yet.

Currently legal and my country manager has not recognized bitcoin as crypto, and the ability to buy lottery tickets with bitcoin is not possible. In the future I hope the law of my country allows it.

In my country lottery is illegal and very few parts of my country has been provided with legal rights to sell lottery. Here we can get through local vendors as well as online. The payment modes available were hard cash, card payments, and internet banking. Here people were not that aware of cryptocurrency and its needs. Maybe in the future can see similar lottery games with bitcoin payments gateway.

Bitcoin in our country is still unknown to some.Cryptocurrencies existence here was not that active. Most developed countries have huge bitcoin users but in my country the government doesn't give a moment to introduced it to public..that is why some of my fellow people doesn't have enough knowledge on cryptocurrencies and bitcoin.

I think that a national lotteries only have the state as the owner, so in order to buy lottery ticket with bitcoin the government should recognize bitcoin as legal tender and allow such a form of payment. It may be possible in Germany or Japan where bitcoin is regulated, but for now I did not see such option in my country or anywhere in EU.

However I find some online options to buy lottery ticket with bitcoin, and they offer EuroJackpot, EuroMillions, PowerBall and some others lottery. I am not sure do they actually buy ticket and play actual numbers or they have some other method. In any case, if I win big money I'd rather have a winning ticket in my hands.

I post this link for informational purposes, but if you get the jackpot I hope for some % as reward ;)

If your government does not accept or consider bitcoin or other crypto currencies as a legal tender/currency than no way you will be able to purchase those state lotteries with crypto currencies. But you can use third party people who will buy those tickets for you in exchange of bitcoin.
And if you really want to try some legitimate lottery, join crypto-games.net. I can guarantee you the results are all legitimate and not rigged :).

According to my understanding except for on line gambling sites  there is no country that has launched a lottery ticket using bitcoin as a means of payment but we would definitely expect an on line Lottery system in the near future focusing on paying with bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency because such sites are becoming more popular among many people in the crypto community and the idea is much great to use Bitcoin to pay winners because it is a valuable asset

Of course without a government acceptance there is no possibility but with a third party organization involvement this idea can be implemented because at the end the owner has payed the price for the ticket whether he has payed through fiat money or using Bitcoin but some governments might make restrictions against such actions

Its not possible until your government accepts bitcoin and as far as i know theres a government who's not accepting bitcoin. And to those country who adopts the cryptocurrency its hard enough to execute because the first step is to create a wallet for the lottery for the bitcoin user. And for sure theres a lot of hacker that will take advantage and gets money for those careless on their accounts.

Which country?

Taken a look at situations in germany and austria, the "Tabaktrafiks" turned into head shops who include sale of post stamps or allowing money withdrawals, besides their offer of lottery tickets AND ... they are selling you Bitcoins wrapped as so called Bitcoinbons. Mostly due to Bitpanda I assume, a local exchanger.
Germany still sucks on that, but they suck on everything else, too.

Nope, we have to convert it to fiat first in order to buy a lottery ticket. I don't see any country accepting crypto as a payment for a lottery ticket yet, i guess banks don't want digital money they really want cash. But in other services, we are allowed to pay cryptocurrency but not in the lottery.

Nah! National lottery tickets are too common for regular people so even if they would accept crypto or bitcoin as payment, i doubt most people would use it. I'm even quite confident to assume that those who often place lottery bets don't yet understand what bitcoin is.

In my country (Italy), you cannot buy official lottery tickets with bitcoin, although there are some gambling sites which also accept cryptos for bets. But in general al the moment the cryptocurrencies are a bit in the shadows due to the long bearish market...

Just for clarifications, are you just asking for these kinds of lottery business to accept Bitcoin as a mode of payment? Or are you also including the thought of them having a lottery that has BTC as its prize? If you are just asking for a Bitcoin as a payment option I don't think businesses will be willing to risk their businesses for it, lottery tickets are priced cheaply and just a little 1-3% price movement could affect their income drastically.

So the best option for them is to also have a Bitcoin lottery where their jackpot is Bitcoin as well, in this category of course businesses won't worry about the price of Bitcoin as the prize pot is also BTC.

You can't buy any kind of Naton lottery tickets here. I have never actually thought about this, but it would be a really great thing if I could buy lottery tickets with Bitcoin. I mean, you could always buy tickets for various lottery sites but I trust national lottery more than some shady site. This would also help Bitcoin's adoption.

For online ticket, I am to pay our national currency through the mobile bank or wire bank! There are no possibilities to add bitcoin as a payment method for the online lottery or tickets! Because bitcoin has no tax fee, and we are living in a developing country, so our government doesn't think bitcoin can be helpful for us!

I can't directly, but I can use my Bitcoin to buy a gift card and from there buy whatever I want within the stores that accept this gift card. That being said, there is not much of a point doing this in my situation.

I am way better off using good old fiat to settle transactions. I don't see the point of forcing yourself to use something just for the sake of using it. I rather use something that works already, and is super convenient. Fiat checks all boxes.

Would local stores directly accept Bitcoin, then sure, I will use my coins to buy goods, but that's not the case right now. Bitcoin has a long way to go in order to even remotely compete with fiat.

in the country where I live, whatever form of gambling is strictly forbidden, if someone uses bitcoin to pay for gambling online and the government knows it, I am afraid it will adversely affect other bitcoin users, the government might make strict laws regarding the existence of bitcoin do not like gambling, it would be much wiser if we use bitcoin for positive and useful things, at least it will also have a positive impact on the existence of bitcoin

Ok, to clarify <thought it was clear enough> I am looking for countries where you can pay for lottery tickets with your bitcoins. A national lottery is normally a government backed lottery and not some small private endeavor. This is just another tax source for the government to get people to give money towards something that would benefit a few. <That being said, 1000s of people have been made millionaires in my country.>  ;D

I know for a fact that no national lottery are giving prizes in Bitcoin at the moment. I also know a site like Freebitco.in have a lottery that gives bitcoins as prize money.  :P

That is also what I know, so far I haven't seen any news about countries accepting Bitcoin as payment for national lotteries. The only news I have seen is some states in the U.S.A. have started to accept Bitcoin as a mode of payment for their taxes. So I think this is a good start for the government to open up other avenues on where they will accept BTC as payment in their system such as a government operated lottery.

As much as I want to use Freebitco.in it's not the same as the normal lottery being played locally where your winning numbers are picked by bouncing balls, its not as much thrilling as the real one. The point is you can buy/earn as many tickets you like but you can't pick the numbers you want to play in their lottery, the thing is Freebitco.in is not the same experience as what you want to see in a real lottery.

Sad to say but our prestigious country doesn't yet accepting bitcoin as a payment for buying lottery tickets. How I wish it is possible in our area for us crypto users. Less hassle and more convenient. Though that being said that lottery was owned by a government oganizations. Thus our government are not yet that open minded about bitcoin.

Unfortunately, not to mention buying state-run lottery tickets, it is not easy to buy food or drink in our country. Because Alipay and WeChat are too convenient to pay. A roadside stall can be used. No one wastes time converting money into bitcoins or Ethernet shops and then spends it.

If enough people ask for this, they just might consider giving us that option to pay with bitcoins.  ;D  What payment options do you have for online lottery in your country?

If the lottery system is based in a country that doesn't operate with bitcoin, the request will not be successful. For instance, in my country, I have not heard of bitcoin used for any kind of payment.

I think you forget to mention that bitcoin are not the legal tender in India. So buying and selling anything using bitcoin is against the government policy. With Bank asking for disclaimer that credit/debit card will not be use in bitcoin purchase, it is currently a distant dream.

You can buy the National Lottery for Bitcoin only in those countries that have recognized Bitcoin as a means of payment at the official state level. Unfortunately, my country is not included in this list yet.

Only in countries where the government have recognized Bitcoin as a medium of exchange, it can be possible, or even countries that the Lottery are not based by government and it is free market. But in my country it is not a reality, in Brasil we steel discuss racial quota, so you can imagine, state is too big.

It's impossible to buy national lottery tickets currently using bitcoin.

The prize pool is based on the National Currency in Fiat, that would require the lottery ticket seller to redeem the bitcoin for the fiat to add to the prize pool.

This isn't happening anytime soon, anywhere. An exchange would have to provide a service of some type and it's similar to buying coffee with bitcoin, why not just use your stinky fiat to lose money...

Imagine spending valuable bitcoin for a 30,000,000 to 1 chance of a jackpot when bitcoin is currently WAY undervalued by the world...alt-coins are a better lottery system than any national lottery -- and we HATE alts ;D

I am just curious to know if you can buy lottery tickets for your own national lottery in your country. I am not referring to all these scam gambling sites with supposed "Provably Fair" lottery systems.

Even though I lived in a country wherein we can used our bitcoin to pay our monthly bills like electricity and water and credit cards, I'm not aware that it's possible to used bitcoin to buy lottery tickets.

If enough people ask for this, they just might consider giving us that option to pay with bitcoins.  ;D  What payment options do you have for online lottery in your country?

I'm not really sure if this is a effective method though. Buying lottery tickets here is all about timing, if you're going to buy close to the date of the lottery, expect a long line, so if bitcoin is going to be used, it may slow down and I'm sure lots of patrons will complain about it. So I guess, the old and traditional fiat will still be the best option.

Bitcoin is an acceptable means of payment in many countries ,albeit, within a smaller community. For national lottery, not yet integrated as an option, the most commonly used method is of course credit cards.Only about 5% of Americans currently use bitcoin.

- I think most countries around the world do not accept buying lottery with bitcoin because this payment system is probably too new, countries are still actively researching, they haven't allowed bitcoin to participate in different areas of life, they need to solve bitcoin problems before disseminating it to the people, and the most important thing is that as you say, too much bad and negative news, the government needs to solve it thoroughly. I believe that with the current growth rate of society, we will soon be able to see bitcoin as a payment method, lottery buying with bitcoin is what will happen in the next time

I think this is not the proper time to make bitcoin as mode of payment in the nation lottery, most of the people does not aware yet to this kind of industry or even this mode of payment, as we know national lottery is a gambling game that you need to come to a kiosk to bet your combinations of numbers and most of the time the generation x are the most population in betting in national lottery meaning they dont have idea on using our modern technology.

I am really not sure whether they will be accepting because a few people suggested, but if there a huge petition and a percentage of their customers demand that they accept bitcoin, then they might consider, for me it is impossible to buy lotteries online as most of them are state run and online lotteries are illegal and they are shut by the government and i am not a fan of lotteries to begin with. ;) But if you think that you can influence any merchant to start accepting bitcoin, it is a good thing.

Most of the countries nowadays doesn't use crypto as payment because operators of gambling prefer cash as their mode of financial system payments. Its hard to incorporate this thing to digital currency since worldwide doesn't recognize crypto yet. Maybe it took more time to make crypto adoptable for people in order for national lottery to use bitcoin at their comfort so that transactions of gambling bets became more accessible at any place or time.

Our country hasn't got any legal statement supporting the use of bitcoin as well upon the opposition of bitcoin usage. It all happens with the buyer seller risk, if someone is interested he could explore and find a person selling the national lottery in return of bitcoin. From my experience it is really an impossible task at present. Things could change in the near future.

There is no way to use your bitcoin with the government agencies, and of course in a Lottery because it is still not legal. it is all about the legality, as of now since the crypto currency has not gained any support from government in terms of legality we should expect most of our transaction is fiat base maybe 1% of establishments in the world accepts crypto as mode of payment, and since if we bet using crypto on national lottery it is hard for them to compute and give the stake on the winners if the betting is splitted in fiat and crypto payment.

Yes, I bought the ticket for Bitcoin in my country's national lottery. It did not actually buy directly through a lottery ticket vendor. Someone else bought some national lottery tickets. But because of his emergency financial crisis, he posted his tickets for sale on an online purchase website. Then I get a chance to buy it. I offered him that I would pay lottery tickets for bitcoin. He agreed to the proposal and I gave him enough bitcoin of money. This way I bought tickets for the National Lottery with Bitcoin.

Thank you

BTC is an uncomfortable way to pay for such things. This can only be a small step for the adoption of cryptocurrencies in the world and no more.
We have many other areas where the payment of cryptocurrency will be more convenient and useful.

But this just can't happen for the meanwhile here in my country, there are some other ways to use bitcoin just like the usual way but they are all minimal.

Same in my country, you can also pay it using paper money and I don't think that they will accept Crypto Currency without any kind of third-party payment methods. But I can pay my bills like internet bill, water bills, electric bills, and many more using Crypto Currency in my country because there is a licensed Crypto wallet/trading platform and it is approved by our central bank, we can actually pay our bills and a lot of stuff using that third-party payment method using our Crypto Currencies, It accepts Bitcoin, Bitcoin cash, Ethereum, and Ripple. :D

As of now, the country where I belong still doesn't allow Bitcoin as a payment for the National Lottery Tickets. But there is no impossible because the country I am living now already been exposed to the running crypto currencies most especially to Bitcoin. Maybe sooner or later, we can also buy National Tickets here using Bitcoin.

In my country the non approval of bitcoin as a digital currency and disapproval by the Central Bank is responsible for the non acceptance by all the registered and regulated Lottery Agencies, although there had been a massive clamor for it acceptance.
I belief if the government considered it as an additional forms of generating more revenues via taxes imposed on the Lottery Bodies maybe the government of the day may decide to change its stance on the acceptance and adoption of bitcoin as a means of payment for lottery tickets.

I envy your country because you can buy your lotto tickest online while in our country, it is still on a traditional way of falling in line and much harder when the jackpot hits billion. Thanks for that idea and I will propose that in our country and suggest not just online but also the cryptocurrency payment like btc.

Being able to pay for National Lottery tickets with the use of bitcoin would be a great idea but currently my country has not implemented this yet. Hopefully they can do add this interesting feature so that crypto enthusiasts like myself can start staking in the national lotto with our bitcoins. this would even help to let more people get to hear about the use of bitcoin in making transactions which is a good idea if we want to see bitcoin legally approved in the near future.

In my country this is not possible, at least not by direct Bitcoin payment. But you can use Bitcoin debit card for payment. Though this is not possible directly at Lottery kiosks but you can use such cards online. Tax authorities on my countries are very careful about lottery and gambling because of money laundering and other illegal activities and payment with cryptocurrencies is not regulated in any way.

We have not this payment method. Because BTC is illegal in our country. Anyway Even if BTC will be legal, why do we need it?
BTC is an uncomfortable way to pay for such things. This can only be a small step for the adoption of cryptocurrencies in the world and no more.
We have many other areas where the payment of cryptocurrency will be more convenient and useful.

- Indeed, bitcoin is not a legitimate payment in most countries around the world because of its volatility and uncontrollable, and even if the government allows people to use it and businesses accept it, everything is as you say, it is also not a good method for payment, the confirmation process is very complicated and sometimes it will encounter a lot of problems, affecting buyers and businesses. In addition, bitcoin users know that this payment option is for emergencies only, in normal circumstances, cash is still more convenient, Bitcoin is not an asset for us to spend and waste

It would be interesting and exciting if these lottery platforms can introduce bitcoin payment as one of it's payment option.

What payment options do you have for online lottery in your country?

As far as i know from the country were i live, the way we bet in lotto is by buying the ticket at the store. I havent seen nor heard that there was an online payment for our lotto tickets. There are some site that provide betting for lotto but im highly suspicious about it.

If there was an online payment for that then i think bitcoin payment or other crypto type of payment wont be allowed as its to volatile to deal with.

No, there are only few merchants that accepts cryptocurrency in our country and that doesn't include the lottery office/shop in our country. However, our local wallet allows us to convert bitcoin to fiat which is partnered with a lot of merchants. We can buy phone credits, online game credits, pay our utility bills, shop online and a lot more. So, it's pretty convenient to use bitcoin in our country.

At my country you can buy some of those lottery tickets via a specific web page from the lottery itself.
It has different prices and different lottery types.
It's easy to buy some as it has their own transaction / exchange system.
And everyone is legitm so no worries about being a scam. As some of the Gamblers have also proven their profits and transactions.

Here in Canada we got the OLG

1. They should be showing proof of fairness with blockchain tech "Cryptography". I mean it is pretty easy for them to rig it this would stop them.
2. They should be accepting bitcoin, It makes it easier if you won to prove who won, what if someone steals your ticket? or you lose it?

Using bitcoin as payment for s lottery is still far away fron reality in my country although an e-payment that uses fiat as payment is already existing. There are many available bitcoin exchanges in my countries but no one of them offers payment for lotto. One of the popular bitcoin exchanges offers bill payments, payment for passport applications like passport and airfares. In the near future, bitcoin payment for lottery may become possible because of the continuing adoption.

Well, many people are under the impression that national lotteries are rigged <eg. weighted balls etc.> but in my country the lottery draw is monitored by reputable independent auditors, so this can be controlled and monitored if they want to be fair.

How in your opinion would the "Blockchain" tech be able to make Lottery draws more fair? <The process is not linked to the mechanics of the draw.  ???>

It might help to automate the record keeping of the results, so that it cannot be changed in the future.  ::)

In our country, there is no banning of bitcoin and it is not yet adopted in our place. People still prefer to use fiat currency for lottery tickets because it's the only currency we have. But i guess some central banks are already starting to study about bitcoin and hopefully, things will be in favor for bitcoin in the next years to come.

Not so fast. Givem the fact that lottery is regulated by governments, Most government have not accepted Bitcoin nor its possibilities and income cases, it's citizens are advise to avoid any business transactions with bitcoin. So it will be difficult for most countries to approve bitcoin as a form of payment for lottery activities. A lot of people still don't understand bitcoin as they see it as invisible money that can vanish at anytime.

The government currently restricting Bitcoin has made it impossible to even think that I would buy Lottery tickets with any crypto unless doing it not legally. The transactions with BTC is a long way to go. Recently the government has just started to think positive about crypto and implementing it would take loads of time.
At first, it would be better that we start casual transaction, which will help the process faster. I would prefer buying daily needs rather than lottery, so usual market transaction with Bitcoin is really important.

National lottery tickets are sold by only a few agents-operators and there are not many conventional methods you can pay for the tickets either
I do not think that even in the countries that legalized bitcoins like Japan people can pay for the tickets in bitcoins , actually this is worth looking into
not a huge fan of lotteries in general so this question doesn't bother me too much
but it could be one of the steps to further increase adoption , so won't hurt asking your countrie's operators to start accepting crypto

Also in my country though you don’t need to worry because joining the lottery here in my place is very affordable. You can’t buy it online in my place and you really need to go to the lottery outlet so you can place your numbers. I think it would be better if we can bet online now on the local lottery.

I think it won't happen because most lotteries are government controlled and most of the government do not like a volatile means of payment for its services or product maybe if there is a third party that will facilitate it, it will do. In my country, we can pay government bills, electric bills, water bills, and different variety of stuff with Crypto Currencies because of a third party company that operates in my country and it is approved by our government and central bank. Do not use vanity adresses.I have had such expirience and strongly wouldn't recommend it. I consider lotteries as the best thing ever where you can invest money.

Have you ever won? I am not too young but I do not know even a single guy, who managed to get at least a hundred dollars in a lottery. Yes, we hear about these lucky guys, byt most of them stay anonymous, which let me think that a part of these "wins" is just a PR of a lottery. And no, lotteries are controlled by the state, and I doubt that you can use cryptocurrencies playing there.

Perhaps such people are bathed anonymous only because all these winnings are fictitious.  But I have the only hope that if a lottery is held by a state bank or other state structures, then they cannot be fraud, because the state can not so deceive its citizens.

You cant still be sure if the state doesn't make any anomalies inside specially on a known corrupt country but these situation are on least chances though.

Any winners specially on jackpot amounts would really be remain anonymous even the state would really cover up someones identity for security purposes which is really just normal to be done.

Answering on topic question, so far ive able to play or bet lottery locally by using up fiat and I don't see any possibilities that they would integrate crypto payment option in the future.

We do not have the option to buy lottery tickets using crypto in Argentina. Perhaps it’s also worth applying for the addition of a payment method in BTC. This is a really good idea for the convenience of buying and promoting Bitcoin.

Unfortunately not.

Even though our Central Bank recognizes Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in our country, our government doesn't know it or if they know it they don't care about it.

I don't think I'd like to buy lottery tickets with Bitcoin, every dollar means fees that are maybe 3% of the total ticket price. I like Bitcoin but it's still not very suitable for small purchases like that!

And we don't need to when we can use it on dice, so that's okay!

Not directly, but.... :)
As you can see here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5168879.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5168879.0)  Croatian post office now offers crypto exchange and also I can buy national lottery ticket in the post office.
So, I can go to the post office, exchange btc to my local currency and than buy national lottery ticket  ;D ;D

^ I like this idea and definitely right, I don't use my bitcoin in the lottery in just small amount with a fee to spend. Unlike in the dice, you don't need just like one time having fee and you can roll and roll the dice. Well, for now, we can't use bitcoin to buy a lottery ticket in my country because there is no option that we can pay using bitcoin(maybe in online gambling site but I still won't). Nevertheless, looking forward to doing the time that we can use it to be more convenient and less hassle for us to fall in line but in very low fees, I guess.

Nah, bitcoin transaction here in my country is currently on the process, I mean only a few of the establishments are accepting bitcoin as payment. The lottery here in the Philippines are held by the government, it's for the charity, and it's impossible for them to use bitcoin since it's better to use the manual than a digital payment.

It will be on a hard process for the government if they will engage this on the lottery. Also, bitcoin on lottery is not suitable, the market is very unstable nowadays, how will they fix or manipulate the percentage that will go to charity, it's hard calculation tho.

It's the same in my country.
If the merchant has a way to accept the payment in bitcoin, than we can use bitcoin to buy anything.
In fact, this company, https://electrocoin.hr/ (https://electrocoin.hr/) has created an app for merchants to sell their products and accept bitcoin payments.
Maybe soon people will be able to use this app to buy even national lottery tickets :)

I don't even know if online lotteries are a thing in our country.

We have this lottery and a lot of people buy a ticket from it. We can buy online but I don't know if one of the exchanges in our country let us buy online tickets from them.

If that is possible, I think I will be buying some tickets to test my luck.

Unfortunately, because my country is small, government policies here are very protectionist and the country is literally run by a clan of 5-60 old families who rule the roost and control all the money flow due to the investment wealth they built up over the years. So online gambling of any sort is strictly prohibited, which means no Bitcoin casinos or lotteries can function or be accessed. As soon as you try to click on a site, you get a government website pop up that talks a load of crap about responsible gaming. It's all a load of rubbish because the country is full of lottery and horse racing betting shops. The reason they don't want us to gamble online is that they want the money to stay in the country to and they want to collect the tax money lol from all the gambling which is done here. Also, they are building a string of casinos across the country to lure in more Tourist money.

Unfortunately, at the moment there is no such possibility, Bitcoin is not directly accepted.
Still you can play online lottery with credit or debit cards so if you have Bitcoin debit card that would be one of the ways to spend Bitcoin on lottery.
Gambling industry which is lottery too is.under pretry strong surveillance and regulations because of money laundering so this is probably one of the reasons why Bitcoin can't be used for that.

Indeed, although bitcoin is making very good developments in countries but only a few countries allow legal use of bitcoin and the scope is only a few specific areas, more accurately, payment or purchase of goods via bitcoin is not so common, so buying lottery tickets with bitcoin is probably not so many distributors accept, it is impossible to measure the value of bitcoin for each ticket. We can still use the indirect method as you said but I don't appreciate it, instead of that, I prefer to buy with cash, it will be faster

Sad to say it has not been implemented in my country to accept cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin as payment to buy lottery tickets. Although I have an aunt who franchised a lotto ticketing booth and is fully aware of Bitcoin and some cryptocurrencies; she too is into trading and is willing to accept Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies for payment but the government won’t allow the mode of payment. So sometimes we just send her the payment through an app  with some Bitcoins and pay her there instead of using cash.

Sorry to intrude into your privacy, which country are you talking about because with the little that I know about cryptocurrency, you still cannot buy much with it because there are no much vendors or merchants that has integrated the payment system, we are just beginning to have few big merchants like newegg, shopify and some coffee shops using it around the world, so statement of buying things legal with bitcoin anywhere is strange to me.

If that is true, then we have found satoshi, and satoshi must be the president of your country to have gotten that legal backing for everything to accept the payment of cryptocurrency. Before we would be able to attain that stage where we can buy everything legal will be when the government has passed it into law.

Unfortunately, the option of buying lottery tickets using bitcoin has yet to be introduced but there are merchants available online that accept bitcoin as an alternative payment for products/services. That alone is sufficient to say that the acceptance of bitcoin in our country is relatively fine considering the massive prohibitions done by other countries.

Like what I mentioned above, our local exchange has merchants that accept bitcoin as an alternative payment for products/services. The beauty of our exchange stems from the options available as you can directly transfer your funds to your bank account!

Nah coz cryptocurrency is still not legalized here. But there is a facebook page on where you can bet and they will choose the result based on our lottery. Hopefully someday Bitcoin will be legal here so people here could enjoy the decentralization of crypto.

I have not yet found a single National Lottery that would offer the use of Bitcoin.  But nevertheless, given the fact that there is no trust in the national lottery in my country, I would not want to risk cryptocurrency either.  A completely different situation in civilized countries, such as the United States of America, where a simple American can win the national lottery.

Lottery system in our country is run by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO). It is a government branch that conducts lottery draws across the nation. As of now there are no options in the medium of payment for cryptocurrency but I do hope that one day there will be an online betting for lottery and they will accept bitcoin as a form of payment. But I dont know when that will happen since the use of cryptocurrency and bitcoin in our country is not that so famous.

in my country, I can only buy lottery using real money, and the results are paid in cash. in my opinion, your choice will be a good innovation so that bitcoin is increasingly known by the wider community. Unfortunately the lottery is a bet, so I don't agree with your thoughts. because if indeed bitcoin could be an alternative to buying a lottery, I'm worried
people have negative thoughts, especially people who don't understand bitcoin yet. it could be people who don't understand about bitcoin, will say that bitcoin is a gambling tool. In my opinion there are still many other innovations, such as monthly bill payments using bitcoin or other innovations.

In my country, you can only invest in bitcoin with fiat currency after that you can do pretty much anything. You can't buy anything with bitcoin in my country actually. In fact, there is a very small number of people that know about bitcoin. Many of my people thought bitcoin is just a myth.

Our country is very accepting and is allowing us to use bitcoin m, in fact there small businesses like tech shops that has bitcoin as one of their payment option. We also have a big and well known online shop that also uses and accepts bitcoin as payment, but our national lottery doesn't support any option that involves bitcoin, not in a way that they are supressing players to use it, but its just that the idea hasn't been implemented yet depsite of the freedom to use bitcoin.

Not only can't I buy lottery tickets with bitcoin in my country (the U.S.), but there are very few shops/restaurants/anything that take bitcoin.  I'm sure they exist, but not anywhere near me.

Lottery tickets are generally sold at convenience stores in my country and I'm almost certain none of them take bitcoin.  There are also vending machines at the supermarket that sell all sorts of scratch off tickets, but they only accept cards and cash, no bitcoin.

Oddly enough there was some state or states that were going to start taking bitcoin as payment for taxes.  One would think if the gov't was willing to do that, they could put a bitcoin payment option on one of those vending machines.  That would seem like the perfect fit, wouldn't it?  But I have yet to see any vending machine taking bitcoin.

Even in my own country, lottery tickets are still paid in fiat because they are not yet accepting bitcoin as a payment system. It will start with the acceptance in the government first and if the government starts adopting bitcoin, then all good things will follow. Small and big merchants will start accepting bitcoin as a payment system.
