the only thing that having a big market capitalization shows is the fact that the altcoin with a huge market cap also has a gigantic supply which in case of ETH is true also it has a big premine which makes its real circulating supply and its real market cap a lot smaller.
in other words having a big market cap does not guarantee success.

I read this at Telegram & Reddit. Unfortunately went I try to type with my own Mobile Keyboard only show up the symbol of FIAT Currency. Some user said its only available only on IOS it's that true?

That's actually pretty fair by google, Ethereum market cap right now are only a quarter of Bitcoin market cap, And Ethereum price was falling pretty hard in this bearish market. And let's be honest or those scam projects are mostly lies on the ERC-20 system by Ethereum. I don't say that Ethereum do not deserve any icon by Google, but Google has the right reason not to give it for now.

That is a bold and interesting move that he is making. I am sure google does not want to include a symbol og ethereum is because ethereum have not prove itself yet and once people see the incredible value in ethereum they will value it more.

They did as an experiment purpose combined with google so it is only available on IOS for now but in the future updates of android we may see it as well.

I guess there will be less possibilities for ethereum to be included into any generalized symbols. This is will be not making any sense to me like bitcoin was added then why not ethereum ? Because bitcoin is a currency whereas ethereum is just a platform for scammy ICOs and nothing more. I am just thinking about what coin may catch a position after bitcoins, but I am sorry no one is capable of doing that.

Some long time back itself, we had discussion about adding bitcoin symbol into "group of symbol of recognized currencies". I guess bitcoin not yet made there but got a place in google's keyboard.

Good catch. Vitalik's answer is understandable but answer tweet looks like Google administration are hiding themselves behind the bunch of words. Customization is necessary and they should let everyone to add whatever they want to see on personal keyboard. Just my 2 cent.

Did not see it on my ios device. my ios is up to date but no bitcoin sign available. I also check my android phones. both has no bitcoin sign. maybe its just a fake tweets for luls.

I am beginning to wonder that google that was said to have announced the ban of any ad related to cryptocurrence, has now added the logo of bitcoin to their icon.
I won't be surprised, despite the response given to Vitalik Buterin, they might end up adding that of ethereum or any other already established coin later in future.

Well, I saw the it on twitter this morning, I dont really blame google for saying that because they are working based on the mainstream trends. Most well known companies that adopt crypto must a times includes just bitcoin to its platform.

Hence, I believe that anytime ethereum and other cryptocurrency get this kind of attention from the mainstream, it will be included.

This is a good question, since on Google Keyboard on Android the BTC key is not present, so I'll assume it's also a fake.

I think it is just the sarcastic post to make fun of vitalik and there is nothing serious about it and we should just take it lightly and have some laugh.

Bitcoin symbol in google keyboard is now become hot topic and I think many people already notice that symbol. Adding this kind of symbol may affect the price of bitcoin and even the people who do not know what bitcoin is will notice and recognized it.

The fact is that if we assume that the ethereum drops to 2 dollars, it will be done not through the fault of the platform itself or the lack of interest of users of the days, but everything will happen either because of the general fall in the cryptocurrency market Or because of the lack of popularity of cryptocurrency among of society. It was really funny but still they have their reasons for saying that. Nevertheless, if the ethereum team can bring up an amazing improvement, the Google statement can be proved wrong.

Google has still the right to do so, whatever they think is right, they entitled to their own rights and prerogatives, but i think ETH will still be the next thing to bitcoin, and maybe in the long run, they would add ETH too, who knows, big business before, never believe bitcoin either way.

YES, this is right. They will consider ETH much later in the future and it is good that Vitalik have already approach them. So the name ETHEREUM is already in their database and how well Ethereum perform in the next couple of years to come will determine if it will be added to it or not. By the way, I still haven't find it in my Android device even after upgrading some minutes ago. Maybe I just have to wait for it to show.

Google did not determine the authenticity or legality and longevity of bitcoin and neither can they determine that if ethereum
So for them to have chosen the symbol of bitcoin for those reasons, it is also possible that the same is done for ethereum.

Funny story. I heard that Google so reacted to a request to add an Ethereum icon, because when that Vitaly refused Google and therefore Google now takes offense at it.

The hype about cryptocurrency and Bitcoin is too echoing. Of course, Google as a company that has a broad view of technology, does not want to miss. And google keyboard developers might have Bitcoin, so they thought of making that button.

I think this is an another milestone for Bitcoin because as I searched the meaning of 'viable' it means "capable of working successfully; feasible" so maybe this is an implication that Google will use Bitcoin as a payment platform.

As we know google is a giant company that every people used, they will have a really high standard for any update of their applications, that way it would be really hard to have them implement something that they still not fully acknowledge.

I don't see this tweet, seems to be it is another FUD on ETH. Also on my device I can't find BTC symbol, maybe it will appear in next update. But I am sure, that such small steps from a huge corporations will lead all crypto to mass adoption, just need more time.

I know this news in telegram group. Someone share article but it just used for IOS. I remember google even ban ICO ads and now google more open mind about Crypto. I think this one also one of reason why btc going up. Maybe now google only used BTC icon but no one know if in the future they will also added other altcoins. Vitalik is so desperate to get his shitcoin pumped but he wouldn't do it this obviously. and the worst part is that ETH doesn't even have a "symbol" so there is nothing to add even if they wanted to do it.

bitcoin is a currency and does have a symbol and it is not just a proposed one, it is a legitimate ISO standard symbol with unicode encoding.

With this, Google as such shows that they definitely support crypto. Because by reason of symbols that are on the keyboard, of course, Google is very good at responding to the development of the crypto world. Therefore Google makes the symbol.

I think this is move of market makers to reduce the price of ETH to buy it cheaper. In 2019, ETH has a lot of big updates and I am sure that the price will be very high.

Vitaly is a good fellow, he is developing the project, and he is doing everything to improve ethereum. No wonder this coin is in second place, may be someday, it will take the first place. Lets wait and will see.

Is it available on android? I tried once and it doesn't have bitcoin symbol on my android device. But, it's available on apple device. Anyway, the answer from google is right, google only need to put bitcoin symbol. If ethereum also be put on the keyboard, means every coin could ask to google to put their symbol. It will bother google.

Its a good start though. Google and others should try their best to contribute to Blockchain technology more. Its a good start but need to enhance all features.

They are just trolling Buterin. But in any case it is a great sign that such a huge company as google is adding a crypto sign to their keyboards. I hope this is a small signal and maybe a small step towards the mass adoption.

Of course this is very good news and a sign that Crypto is developing in the future. Last year there was a problem about banning advertisements on Google and in my opinion it was a big loss, but now it's back to work together even though only the Cryptocurrency Icon looks small but it's a big pride.

I would not take this answer very negatively. Google simply says what it sees at the moment, when the issues with the regulation of cryptocurrencies are not yet resolved. But when this issues will be finally resolved, I am sure that symbol of the ethereum and other popular altcoins will also be added to the keyboard.

You got my favourite word there, "pride" for cryptocurrency. With this , cryptocurrency, most especially bitcoin, will gain more acceptance. I have come across some stores that are already accepting bitcoin.
This might also be among the reasons why bitcoin is gradually going uptrend in the market.

That's just a sign that cryptocurrency is being known and adapted around that globe which is an advantage for us users. It would be a big help in the economic growth and the development of cryptocurrency. It only reflects that bitcoin is reaching every corner of the world through its popularity.

This indirectly suggests that Google supports cryptocurrency. It is interesting. I do not think that Google has done this for the sake of popularity among crypto enthusiasts.

This is rather amusing and perhaps google will come around in a few years time when cryptocurrency adoption has grown further and Ethereum has become a more widely recognized technology if nothing can actually manage to supersede it and add it's logo to the keyboard as well

Maybe they are thinking that coins other than bitcoin is not so much worth, I think the reason would be because the altcoins always entailing bitcoin.
The altcoins seems can't live without the existence of bitcoin, that is what i think about google's decission.

When I saw this, I laughed real hard. vitalik wants Google to consider adding the ETH symbol to their keyboard and they bounced. Well, I believe with time they might give it a thought but the ETH stuff is actually long compared to the bitcoin symbol.

Don't think they should add anything else now either. Bitcoin is very popular - as a word, as a symbol. Other cryptocurrencies - are not. Maybe if ethereum popularity will rich such a state in future this subject will be discussible.

Google must have done their research thoroughly before adopting bitcoin symbol on their keyboard, its quite obvious that bitcoin popularity outweighs that of ethereum in many folds and for ETH to catch up their team need to work harder, google endorsing btc had really shown that btc has come to stay.

I don't even know any third party apps giving that symbol in android and IOS but in future we will have this feature even in basic mobiles. ;D

The update will be gradually extend to other devices with time.
Very soon, we might see Microsoft coming to also announce that they have alsdo integrated it into their system.
Then gradually, government might also come to announce their readiness to approve cryptocurrency, particularly bitcoin.

And google says they only believe in bitcoin legality, but actually bitcoin is not legal yet in some countries.
ETH and bitcoin is the top cryptocurrency, i wonder why they don't believe ETH will be viable for long term.

It's really funny that the official Google account was given such an answer. But as we can see on the example of Facebook and even the largest banks, their position often changes relative to cryptocurrencies. Finally, Google recognizes Bitcoin but not for another crypto like ETH. Google keyboard with  symbol i think anoungh for represent all crypto.
