Title: Listing an Exchange on Coinmarketcap
Post by: epiphanyblockchain on February 21, 2019, 06:54:32 AM
Hello world,
So I've been trying to list an exchange in CMC. They actually manage the whole thing almost like a state secret.
The selection criteria is not clearly stated and they do not give any feedback on why the exchange was or wasn't accepted.
Of course it's important to have the basics like a fully functional product, clear rates and fees, customer support, and other customer client channels like a Telegram helpdesk group, Twitter for public announcements, etc.
But does anyone know which are the critical factors?
Or have some advice on how to get it approved?

IMHO they are looking on trading volumes and rare tokens that you trade. As I remember coin will add on CMC after 50000 USD day trading volume.

As far as i know that should be the main requirement to get listed on CMC but there was another requirement just like CMC will ask you about your social information related to your platform just like the social media fanpage, etc.

If the trading volume of the exchange is too low, the listing on coin market cap might not be scale through. They also check how actively the project is through the interactions of the community and team, and social media platforms too.

Trading volume is the most important factor. This factor is also very important when you would like to list a coin on coinmarketcap.
Dead coins, exchanges will not be listed here  8).

we do not know any more than you do my friend! so unless any of the exchange owners come to this forum and see your topic and then happen to have also manually added their exchange to CMC, there is no way anybody can answer you without making guesses.

all you can do is to contact CMC via their contact page and ask them directly. but i suppose if  your site is new, has little volume and little number of users then you shouldn't bother with it.

You missed the trading volume as others already pointed out. I believe it weighs the heaviest among other important criteria.

Thought so too. Volume attracts not just traders. If your exchange has huge volume, I bet they'd just list it for free. There are some sites like coingecko that will probably list it, there is also coincap.io. You can try it first on these small listing and crypto wiki sites because that could promote your exchange too. I could list your exchange to some other else listing, PM me.

You are the owner of that exchange?

If you want to get approval on CMC you need to fill a form and wait for their reply it might take long time and also you need to meet the criteria for getting approved.

You did not mention the name of the exchange it's an additional promotion here and so we can look at what's lacking in your exchange to help you get listed but there are requirements, of course, glad they did, one of this is volume, this is the reason why some exchange are faking their volume.

To be listed on the coinmarketcap need to have a demand on the exchanges and trading volumes were more than $ 100 000. I can't say I'm right, but that's all I heard. Projects do not pay for the placement of information all depends on the demand for a coin or token.

I'm afraid he'll get no answer because as stated, there were no feedbacks. But yeah, I think he just have to wait some time to make his exchange popular and increase the trading volume.

I also did not really know, yesterday I asked my friend he said if you want to enter the CMC do not need to pay only if the coin you have registered at the 2 exchange they will issue your coin on their site, because he knows someone who has a project in 2018 and all I know is that is the condition, your coins only need a minimum list of 2 exchanges.

As far from I know, for listing an exchange on Coinmarketcap (https://coinmarketcap.com/) you have to meet the following basic criteria:
  • You have to publish an API that exposes the last price and 24h volume of each coin/token.
  • At least has been operated in sixty (60) days.
  • You have to provide a representative from the exchange to communicate for any clarifications with CMC.

Besides evaluating the basic criteria when deciding to add a new exchange listing CMC also evaluating several other factors such as Community Interest, Trading Volume, Uniqueness, and Age of The Project.

So far I have worked with 2 exchanges, promoting for them, pitching for them and acquiring users for them.
And from my limited experience, I can say, listing on CMC is not that hard for an exchange. You just have to pick the right coins to support, attract those communities and that would easily give you the volume you need.
Of course, there is a basic requirement that you must meet and a fee that you may pay if opting to get listed manually (as opposed to them adding you) but none of these factors are beyond the scope of negotiations. In this industry, you'll go a long way if you have the right connections.

A good negotiator would close deals more efficiently for any business. That fact is compounded in crypto industry because of the sheer competition.

As far as I know, it has to be traded in 2 exchanges which is listed on coinmarketcap and should more than $100k volume.
There are other choices like coinlib. Why do not you try them? I heard that the coinmarketcap is a bit exhausting.

Thanks to all your answers.
So yes, I missed to mention the trading volume. Which I know is very important and actually our daily trading volume goes around 10 to 30 Million USD.

PRDAE Exchange info:
  • Our exchange website is https://www.prdae.me/
  • You can see the trading volume here https://www.feixiaohao.com/exchange/prdae/
Note: The trading volume tracker is in Chinese, but google chrome will translate it. You need to multiply the displayed number x10,000.

And our channels are:
  • Twitter: https://twitter.com/PRDAE_official
  • Telegram: https://t.me/prdae_helpdesk

Actually our Telegram and Twitter are quite new. The exchange has been working for over a year now but was focused in Chinese market. We recently opened ourselves to foreign market and that's why Twitter and Telegram are quite new.
It would be great to get your insights about the exchange to keep improving  ;D

It's also worthwhile to mention that we will soon have our first airdrop in partnership with our recently listed coin ECHT (e-Chat (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/e-chat/))
You can check the Ann Thread here:

News about coinmarketcap is still a confusing news, there is no clarity from this platform, some say cmc is a scam for manipulating coins so that they can play around the market because traders rely on this platform.

They removed the exchange volume requirement a while back.

Coingecko is far better than cmc tbh, they have excellent customer support which I adore the most about them.

Well they definitely have great power and play are huge role in the investors minds and decisions. So I'm sure the people who run this platform get all sorts of proposals. It's still a centralized platform.

Listing your altcoins in coinmarketcap is very important to know the volume and price of it.
Maybe you aren't wrong, but that is not the main criteria from CMC to listing an altcoin (cryptocurrency). The main criteria to listing an altcoin in CMC is that coin/token have to trade publicly and actively traded on at least two exchanges.

I think just one exchange is enough, and that altcoin's daily volume must exceed 100k $ so you can qualify to be listed in coinmarketcap

Really? Have you read this one buddy?

Quote
For a cryptocurrency to be listed on the site, it must meet the following criteria:
  • Must fit the definition of a cryptocurrency.
  • Must be traded publicly, and actively traded on at least two (2) exchanges that are supported on CoinMarketCap (if the cryptocurrency is an exchange-based token only traded on its own exchange, we may add it given that off-platform withdrawals are possible).

Source: https://coinmarketcap.com/methodology/#listings-criteria
I don't think only listed on one exchange will be accepted in Coinmarketcap.

maybe the CMC manager approach is sketchy and cannot get their attention. Or you are not having good partners to help your altcoin listed on CMC.
In a decentralized market, we need relationships to achieve the ultimate goal. ;)

Studying CMC policies and obeying, maybe the requirements have not been fulfilled so the CMC has not responded.
A good approach and having coins or active tokens will certainly be considered by CMC.

Are you reading between the lines? He meant was the exchange, not the coins or tokens to be listed there. Not all exchanges can be easily listed there fast.

Going back to the OP, the criteria is well indicated when you fill up the form, if you not met all requirements then dont expect to be listed easily there. The support of cmc is bad since there are no feedbacks but I guess. If youre exchange is good it will be listed soon.

Judging from how they listed novaexchange, coinexchange, yobit and even some proven dodgy exchange
I think they doesn't had any much strict criteria

But its not their fault either if they list/not list an exchange because coinmarketcap is a site which provides data for the crypto market
Hence, good luck applying, i believe you would likely get to list on Coinmarketcap as long as you have the requirement of trading volume, APIs for them to display price and etc

You need to write a letter to the administration of the site Coinmarketcap and ask them about the selection criteria listning on their website. Judging by the fact that some projects appear there immediately after the implementation of the ICO, getting to the site is not that difficult.

Probably coingecko will help OP out. It's an alternative ranking site but then again it needs to meet the requirements however this don't guarantee the listing.

Kindly check their methodology.

There are no secrets, we call them terms and conditions
That is if you are qualified, your exchange gets listed

Do you required trading volume ?? And other requirements

as far as I know, to be able to register in CMC it must have a large trading volume and this could be one of the requirements to make it easier to enter in CMC. other than that maybe the coin must be registered on several exchanges

Coinmarketcap has been very mysterious and inaccessible over the last year. On the one hand, they announce that they simplify the possibility of listing, but on the other hand, new projects do not appear on their site at all. Unfortunately, but in this situation, it's only patience.

Listing on exchange doesn´t mean that coinmarketcap will list your project. On the exchange your project should have big volume and that is important.
There are thousands of cryptocurrencies, but listed on coinmarketcap are only the biggest one with the highest trading volume.

Title: Re: Listing an Exchange on Coinmarketcap

Coinmarketcap actually looks at the trade volume of your exchange before listing it.
The last time I checked, your exchange will have to get a minimum of 50,000 USD trade per 24 hours basis.

You can also fasten the listing of your exchange by also telling your team to send a listing request to them. Once coinmarketcap see a request from lots of users and the exchange meets requirements, it would be listed immediately.

Competition to get listed is fierce, not just for coins but for exchanges as well. There needs to be a high trading volume, used to be 50K per day but that has probably changed now. Most will use a trading bot so having just 50K volume is not enough

I have faced the same issue, trading volume is not so significant since there are many exchanges on CMC with zero trading volume. Also, there are many exchanges on CMC with 2 or 3 trading pairs only. I can't understand why this happens and why they don't list new exchanges. I think it's the oligopoly. We are involved in crypto industry in order to avoid such practices from banks, etc and now we face thw same issue from CMC. Just not fair.

snipped ....  I can't understand why this happens and why they don't list new exchanges.
i think the reason why they dont list new exchange is because they are still new yet  . an exchange needs to gain reputation first on the public so that cmc will finally list them  .

We have also tried that way, didn't work. More than 30 people applied for add the exchange but nothing happened.
are you an owner of an exchange ? and you want to be listed on cmc ? maybe the cmc team needs to review your exchange if your exchange do already have some improvements before they totally accept you  . same goes to the 30 that have proposed .

you know guys , cmc is pretty strict and they just dont allow any exchange to get listed on thier platform without followiing thier requirement .

I think you don't have the ability to satisfy the criteria of the CMC, while other exchanges with no volume have already listed CMC. Maybe there is something that you need to satisfy them otherwise, it is impossible for you to get listed in CMC.

Coingecko is far better than cmc tbh, they have excellent customer support which I adore the most about them.

Indeed coingecko in terms of platform appearance is more interesting and has many functions compared to cmc which still uses classy design. but still mostly crypto users when typing bitcoin prices CMC always become the top 5 on google search. as well as other coins listed on the exchange mostly refer to the cmc website.

We have also tried that way, didn't work. More than 30 people applied for add the exchange but nothing happened.

I think you don't have the ability to satisfy the criteria of the CMC, while other exchanges with no volume have already listed CMC. Maybe there is something that you need to satisfy them otherwise, it is impossible for you to get listed in CMC.
there is a following criteria before you are able to be listed in coinmarketcap .
Follow this link and read https://coinmarketcap.com/methodology/#listings-criteria

I tried listing a coin there a few months back, it was a nightmare, they also gave our name to another coin's url (by mistake ,they had a totally different name) . The only thing that helped back then is take screenshots of all their mistakes including correspondance and posting it into an article that got picked and had like 20k views. Only then all the problems magically disappeared and the coin got listed.

Now I'm taking an interest in a new exchange called mintME.com (http://mintME.com) that acts as a crowdfunding platform and it's in my best interest to get it added there but I know how shittty CMC's customer service is so I'm not holding my breath.
you dont undertand what the topic is . You just want to promote that exchange base on your post history.

IMHO they are looking on trading volumes and rare tokens that you trade. As I remember coin will add on CMC after 50000 USD day trading volume.

It's good that they have implemented this so pump and dump coins cannot get in easily, in the past, there are a lot of scam coins that have got in easily, that is the reason some of them are zero volume on Coinmarketcap, now that they are strict we can only sure that only the best coin can only get in their list, $50000 is such a huge amount and only legit coins can get that volume.

Community base, trading volume, circulation and some factors decides the worth of project get listed on coinmarketcap.
Please check their site and read the terms before you apply for listing.
I am sure you will get messages stating they can list for you. Please don't believe such replies. Try to reach the real team alone.

News about coinmarketcap is still a confusing news, there is no clarity from this platform, some say cmc is a scam for manipulating coins so that they can play around the market because traders rely on this platform.

I totaly agree. There are a big unfair competition in CMC. Many projects destroyed and lost big money becousese of this. We are talking with our lawyers this period as we are going to issue the CMC for this unfair competition.

Trading volume is the most important factor. This factor is also very important when you would like to list a coin on coinmarketcap.
Dead coins, exchanges will not be listed here  8).
Which exchange is how much reliable this is another criteria for list as a exchange in coinmarketcap. Looking shit exchanges will be denied. But recently i saw a lot of thread regarding CMC manipulation they showing many fake things such as fake volume is one of them and exchange ranking. So that now a lot of people no more trust it. I think coingecko https://www.coingecko.com/en is the best one. You can apply here to get reliable.

What Real Team?? The Guys are Real Scammers. Our Squirrex exchange is a state of art for ERC20 and TRC10 tokens as well as ETH and BTC.

After many e-mails they ask to complete a big form with the new meets to list our exchange. Our developer Team spend more that 100 hours to complete all the CMC meets to list the exchange. After that, they send an email that sais.....thank you but we are not sure if we decide to list your exchange and that their developer team (that never send an information or email or just a simple YES or NOT) will check again my request. This is unfair competition for an exchange that pay salaries, servers, security etc....after almost a Year of trying to list our exchange our company has more than 500,000 damage because of CMC. Our Legal department will issue the CMC for this unfair competition.
Are you serious?  This is the rights of the owner of CMC if they dont like to list your exchange IMO. And not only you having a problem listing in them there are many other exchange also .
There must be a reason for it or your exchange is not yet qualified to list.

I been on your position too with the project i work with. The critical factor is you need to listed on at least 2 exchange that already listed on CMC and both must have some volume.
I my case, our dev submit the application while only listed on 1 CMC listed exchange, then get reject. But after we listed on second CMC listed exchange, our project just getting listed on CMC

I think coingecko https://www.coingecko.com/en is the best one. You can apply here to get reliable.

Getting listed on coingecko is more easy. But the problem lies with community/ users. They more prefer seeing the project on CMC.
The first think on their mind is CMC, not listed on CMC is not good. Maybe in next 2 years user will be able to see coingecko on par with CMC, but at the moment CMC still the king.

When it comes to criterias on being listed then ill say that coingecko would be a better choice and i agree on what most majority do look about CMC.

They do always look up if its listed on CMC or not and these had been always the line specially for buyers for some coins where they do ensure out if its
listed because we can see on where markets its being traded on.We cant point on what would happen on next 2 years for CMC to look like.

Project listed on coinmarketcap also show timing in the low level we cannot touch sure whether it has been listed on coingecko or coinmarketcap.
most of the listing site requires good community which is interactive to the team.
Dar es team with them they are good enough to get listed on any listing sites.

They had an updated criteria on how an exchange would be able to be listed on Coinmarketcap: https://coinmarketcap.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034124351-Listings-Criteria

The most critical element of a project's success is that it must have a reliable team and sufficient funds to maintain the price of tokens.

read detail at here
https://support.coinmarketcap.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034124351-Listings-Criteria

For an exchange to be considered for a tracked listing, it must meet the following prerequisites:

A functional website with trading volume that matches its API data.
Must publish a summary API endpoint that exposes the last price and 24h volume of each cryptoasset.
See sample of an ideal API endpoints.
Must be in operation for at least sixty days (The number of days that affiliated exchanges of the same name have been in operation counts towards this requirement).
Must allow traders to place buy and sell orders on an orderbook.
Must allow users to view all market pairs/order books without the need to log-in to the website.
Must have a ‘System Status’ page that shows all coin listings/details (e.g. full name, logo, project URL, block explorers).
Must be able to provide a representative from the exchange with whom we can establish open lines of communication for any clarifications.
Requests originating from emails that share the domain of the exchange will be prioritized.

Your exchange must have a public api data, so coinmarketcap can calculate the volume of market

There are requirements for listing on coinmarketcap either exchange or token, for exchange i think its about trading volume, even if the exchange have fake volume coinmarketcap have already launch rating exchange with liquidity which can easily reveal fake volume exchanges
