Title: Distribution of Merit
Post by: markstivn98 on February 23, 2019, 07:56:39 PM
How long has the merit system started in the forum?
Will the distribution system change due to the fact that users frequently publish good and useful topics but no one gives them the benefit until it becomes like casinos rely on luck. is there a solution to that?
But despite all this, publishing has become more disciplined and more useful. :) :)

Here is the original thread for the merit announcement.

Your question was asked a lot in that thread, so give it a read and you'll get a feel for what to expect.

This has been brought up many times before. It's impossible to properly quantify since awarding merit is completely subjective, but all available evidence is that this simply isn't true. There are several merit sources who spend a great deal of their time searching for good, unmerited posts - they are few and far between.

If you do find good posts which you think deserve merit, please link to them in this thread: [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5093271.0). Looking through your post history though, roughly half your posts seem to be in Off Topic - this board has one of the lowest merit-per-post ratios because it is so full of spam. I would suggest you will have a hard time finding many merit-worthy posts in there.

Ah, all of those un-merited posts and under-merited members....where the hell are they?

The question has been answered, but I want to mention that I haven't been spending a lot of time lately looking for merit-worthy posts since I currently don't have a computer.  I'll be back in the game as a merit source within 2 weeks or so.  It's just a pain in the ass trying to read stuff on my phone.

OP, just FYI you probably won't get any merits if you're posting in the spammy sections of the forum.  You have to be patient, because it's not supposed to be easy to rank up anymore.

There is a solution, and that is to appoint members who are given smerits and charged with spending it on deserving posts, as giving merits is a voluntary task. This solution has already been implemented, and we have merit sources which any reputable member can apply to be.
Keep making deserving posts and you are sure to get the reward for it.

Merit is like mining, the more they worth, they more people want them, the more people want them the harder they become, you need to increase your post quality. if you think that any of your "good" posts went unmerited , post them here  > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5093271.0  i will be the first to merit them, however if they are the average joe's post then you are unlikely going to get any merit.
