Title: Zepher Memorial Thread
Post by: TheNewAnon135246 on February 25, 2019, 08:41:26 AM
A few days ago we have received the horrible news that Zepher (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=369879) has suddenly passed away. Since we haven't heard from him in a while one of us tried contacting him through his eBay account. His mom replied saying that he has passed away on January 16th. The cause of death is still unknown but we knew Zepher has been struggling with health issues over the past years. We have been in contact with his mother and she is blown away by all the people that reached out so far. She wasn't aware of the huge amount of people that have been friends with him.

Zepher has been a very active member of the Collectibles community and was well known for helping others (as his trust page (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=369879) well reflects). Zepher has traded with many of you, organized huge group buys and even went to China to personally pick up BTCC coins for some of you. He was truely dedicated to this forum section and according to his mother he always spoke with pride about his collectibles. Zepher was a great friend, an awesome collector and he'll be truelly missed.

Feel free to leave Zepher a message, share a good story about him or express your condolences in this topic. I will have all messages printed in a hardback book and give it to his mother.

I was asked to post a donation escrow address :D

Paypal funds can also be accepted, just PM me.

Thanks,

I never had this opportunity to have a talk/chat with the user Zepher (BitcoinTalk.org U=369879) but knowing a fellow member passed away, hurts inside. My condolence to his family and close ones. Life if too short. One can be forgotten easily but the work they left behind can not be forgotten.

Rest in peace fella. Forum will miss you, your loved ones will miss you.

Never met Zepher...but have interacted and got to know him thru the forum and slack channels.

He had been nothing but a gentleman and a good friend in this tightly knit small group of collectors of the Crypto World.

I will miss him and his sage advice that was always available when needed.

May you Rest In Peace Zepher....farewell.

A true friend taken from us too early.  Zepher made his mark on this hobby through his legendary group buys, raffles, and overall friendliness.  I can't help but continue to feel a tremendous amount of loss over this news.

Zepher, you are a legend and will always be remembered.

A genuine shining star in the community. Was so incredibly fun, helpful and generous by nature. He was really someone that everyone on this forum (on earth, even) could aspire to be like.

I'll really miss having you around, friend, and I'll never forget everything you've done for me. I hope you're having a proper good time wherever you are now.

I have had the pleasure of working with Zepher on many occasions and spent many days and nights chatting away.

He was always a true ‘Stand Up Guy’. Always going out of his way for others and lending a helping hand whenever possible.

It was a very sad day indeed when I found out he had passed.

Zepher, you will truly be missed; you were a shining example of how people should treat others not only in business but in personal situations as well.

I wish I could have met up with you in the UK and laughed with you and other fellow members here.

There will always be a space in our hearts for you.

Rest in peace my friend,

-Buck

I never had any dealings in group with Zepher however i did meet him at Coinfest last year. I was there for 2 days and had an arrangement with my work (im a driver), that I could drive to Widnes and sleep in one of the trucks we had there. When Zepher got wind of this, he gave me his hotel room for the night so i could stay around and have a good time with everyone. An absolutely unnecessary display of generosity on his part for someone who he had never met.

After that, we all sat around drinking lots of alcohol and had an amazing time. I couldn't thank him enough for this but he just took it in his stride and told me not to worry about it. A real nice guy who captivated everyone with his bright personality, i could tell he loves this scene so much.

Rest easy Zepher,
Gav

Zepher was a legend on this forum.
He had a heart of gold, an oustanding person.
Young .. This is so unfair .....

Really, I consider myself very lucky to have met Zepher.
It was for a few days in Amsterdam, during July 2018.

We went to play some poker there, and this was the result of the first night of game :

We played daaaamn good  8)

Those few days went by very fast. We definitely were to hang out again.

We are going to miss you, buddy.  :'( :'( :'(
I lack words to express my thoughts and feelings ...

Rest in peace, my friend. You will be remembered.
Prayers for you and your family.
See you on the other side.

I seriously can’t tell you how bad this feels, his mother needed to know how well respected he was here and hopefully the messages she got from his core group of pals online once we heard showed that.

I may not know him or done any transactions, but, I have seen people who have been part of his journey here in bitcointalk and they made me appreciate the real Zepher, felt that he is one of a kind.

Dear Zepher’s Mother,

You have raised one of a kind son, everything has its own purpose. We know how it hurts to loss someone, but then again, losing a son is more painful to a Mother. I know words can't do anything, prayers do. We will pray for his beautiful soul to rest in peace. Our Lord may need him in heaven to watch over your family and stop his struggle here.

We love you.

See you around, Zepher.

Your Bitcointalk Son,

I am kinda new user in this community, and I had never the chance to interact with Zepher. However, I closely monitor the majority of auctions/offers & user comments in the collectables section. I have to say (from all that I read through the time) that he was an awesome & one of the most trustworthy users here. This forum (and the whole society generally speaking) will be definitely poorer without him  :(

It's so incredibly cool to see many people from many different countries all collectively being able to mourn the loss of a mutual friend, whether a personal friend or an acquaintance over these forums.  We all may hide behind pseudonyms, but it's so incredibly important to realize the humanness we all share and that we aren't just some computer generated message that pops up on a message board.

Zepher and I only had one transaction together, but he was essentially one of the few people at the beginning that had helped me realize how generous and kind people on this board could be (granted there are a lot of assholes on here ::) )

My condolences to his mother. I hope you may take comfort in knowing your son was a stand up person that had affected a lot of us robot*ahem* people who spend so much time on here.

I never met Zepher. I barely messaged with him. Yet his passing left quite the impact as I found myself in tears as others recalled stories of past times.

I'll be honest. Ive always seen this board as a fun interesting hobby I genuinely care about, but also as a side income. Sure, I've made some contacts here I'd consider personal friends, but the loss of Zepher made me totally re-evaluate my view towards this board. Truly, it is impeccable community that has been organically been born, mutually developed & progressed to the point that the value of all items come secondary to the community aspect. Yes, we may involve in valuable transactions, however, what both parties want is to come out happy for all involved when the deal is done. That's caring for your fellow man. I cannot fathom how a group of vastly different individuals from around the world congregated to create a legitimate micro society. Thank Satoshi.  Nobody here is a 'customer'. We are all collectors and Zepher was one of the most devout - aiding some fellow collectors in ways you'd never imagine.  A true legend.

Long Live Z.

Zepher provided his service as escrow for my first- ever valuable trade on this forum.
He was very kind, helpful, and showed a great amount of honesty and professionalism. He was the kind of person that got me into this hobby. Therefor I trusted him with a rather large amount of money, even though It was the first time I dealt with him. Thereafter we had a chat every now and then and traded multiple crypto collectables. It was always a pleasure dealing with him. I bought multiple items in his last- ever auction, hosted on this forum. Every time I see my kialara gold, it reminds me of Zepher, calling me out for getting a good deal on it. He was without a doubt one of my favorites out here, and will be really missed by me, and without any doubt, many more of us, crypto collectors. He told me he was having health issues,  but I never expected it to end like this. Not So young... Zepher was a great person. A real asset to this small community of crypto friends.

Rest In peace my friend.

Oh man.  It's been close to a year since I logged in to the forum, and looking back at my messages close to 2 years since I talked to Zepher.  This news is extremely sad, and I felt I had to log in and share my experience with him.  B was the most trustworthy and friendly person I've dealt with here, and I will miss his seemingly endless knowledge of everything crypto collecting.  He was always the first person I would go to if I had a question, and was always immediate with an honest and genuine response.  On several occasions, I trusted him with very large to me sums of money without hesitation, and was never disappointed.  Wish I would have had the privilege of meeting him in person, but will cherish the conversations I had with him here on the forums.  My thoughts are with his family & loved ones.  Coming from some random American he met on the internet, I find it only appropriate to end this message the same way he always did with me. "Cheers Bud"

Never personally met him or dealt with him but I can understand the pain of loosing a great team member which happen to me and few other people when suddenly we lost a great team member from one of our game rooms whom we have never met but always talked and cared about with each other like a family.

Having said that from the message above it seems like Anon will be meeting his mother sometime.

As a community, I have created a raffle to send some BTC to his family.

Its taken me a while to post here. I had hoped to find some words that would be appropriate, but there arent really any

Zepher was the bitcoiner that lived closest to me (actually very close). So I got to see him fairly often, have a cuppa, put the world to rights, and show off the collectables. I will miss that incredibly.

Z had had his health problems for a long time, and they took their toll on him in many ways. But unless you knew, you would never guess. He had gotten used to carrying on regardless.

As many people had said, in his periods of good health, Z sure knew how to party. He would have a good time, and make sure those around him did as well.

He loved this place, and the people he became close to through it. It has been very reassuring seeing everyone rally round. His family have taken great comfort from all of the kind messages they have received from people all over the world they dont know. It has shone a light to a part of his life that they didnt know much about, and they have been pleasantly surprised by the high regard people here held Z in. I know he would have liked that a lot

He was a black or white kind of a guy. No inbetweens. Fiercely protective of this forum, and happy to have his account painted red, if it meant he was saving someone else from the risk of being scammed

I will miss him a lot. I will miss talking about something and nothing, just chewing the fat, having a laugh.

Taken far too young, gone but not forgotten. Rest in Peace Zepher

It's taken me some time to get here myself, so much to say .... 🤷‍♂️

I first met Z online here when he returned to the forum 2 or 3 years ago after a very long hiatus. Strangely enough, we connected on so many levels, I felt like I had literally found a brother. Long story short, we spent countless hours chatting on slack or whatever the medium of the week was. We finally ended up meeting last year around this time in the UK for CoinFestUK. We spent the better part of a week hanging out and partying like rock stars in Manchester with a few different and awesome people from our collectibles group. ;D

To say he was a nice guy is nowhere near proper - He was a fine gentlemen who would give you the shirt of his back if he needed to. And I don't mean mine, I mean anybody.  He also had one of the best senses of humor you could ever ask for. One of those people that are the life of the party, someone that everyone seemed to want to be around.

I never got to speak to him again since ~July of last year. I will always regret not being able to talk to him again after that. I still feel like I have so much to tell him, but on the other hand, I truly hope he is in a better place with no more worries and pain. 🙏

Lastly, Zepher - As we always said, "Friends till the end". I hope to see you again next time, that's for certain. ;)

Rest in peace my brother. 🚀

Though I have never interacted with Zepher in person or in chats, it is really disheartening to hear a community member passed away. I visit the collectibles section quite often and see Zepher organizing up some auctions/raffles and his friendly talks with other forum members. But those happy times with Zepher will be missed for sure, also he was an outstanding member of the community. Initially as a tribute to his contributions, I thought of engraving his name on the bitcoin blockchain as a part of a transaction to his address using the OP_RETURN function, but since that is frowned upon and bad to the bitcoin itself I have dropped the idea.

Wherever you are right now, we believe you will be as happy as you were in this life and stay healthy.

My deepest condolences to his loving mother and his family.

We miss you and RIP (Return If Possible) buddy!  :'(

Heisenberg

I’m just now hearing the terrible news.  Some of the older guys may remember me but I was active a while back and got to know Zepher pretty well.  We hoped to meet up when my work brought me near him but it never did...that will weigh on me for a long time.  I believe you make time for what’s important to you and I screwed up on that point.

I second all the great things said about him and this community.  We had a heart to heart conversation about a year ago about topics bigger than crypto that I’ll never forget.  He will be sorely missed.  RIP

Not to cast a shadow on this event but why does this person need a donation address?

I'm being very skeptical if his family is asking for help with the funeral costs, the amount of scams I've seen that looked legit are staggering.

Please don't take offence to this.

There are plenty of us here that have known zepher either on a personal level or a professional level, I can say there is no ill intent with this.  I'm not condoning it or pushing it, the new anon was merely doing this because I think many people asked so it can be done in an organized manner.

When I first joined here you immediately took me under your wing to show me the ropes and how to behave to achieve success. For this I owe you everything
because if not for you I'd probably still be stuck at a 9to5 job hating myself and everything around me. Not only did you help me out with a horrible gambling
addiction but also when it came to my relationship with my Mrs. I truly hope that I helped you with your issues whenever you reached out to me too, at least in my
mind we had a really good give and take relationship. That's why you mean so damn much to me, you always treated me as an equal and for that I am ever grateful.

Regardless of if it was our late, late night plannings of the next raffle which we were both so extremely passionate about or our friendly poker games we always
had a tonne of fun while also learning new things. Whether we invested money in the next big shitcoin or bounced ideas for a new collectible we just always
had fun. This is how I'll remember you, someone that I could always reach out to when life was keeping me down and I needed to feel better. You were always there
no matter the time of day.

I will forever blame myself for not getting the chance to meetup with you, but even though it never happened you must know that you meant more to me than other people
I have in my life that I see daily. I don't think I've ever felt such a strong bond with anyone that I've never met before and I'm not sure what it is
that made it so but I just always knew I could rely on you and tell you things I've never told anyone else.

It is with a heavy heart that I'm writing this and it took me days to do it.. You will be missed, more than I can ever describe. I feel an unbareable sadness
and emptiness but I know that you are now in a better place. From now until forever, may we meet again one day.

Hampus

I've been postponing writing here, since I honestly don't know what to say...

Zepher and I have talked quite a lot over the past few years, not as much as others, but still, I'm disappointed that I've only ever met them once (even though it was legendary).
They have given so much of themselves to the forum (especially the collectibles community) and for that I will always be grateful.

You will be missed and I hope you are in a better place now.

it was very sad news to read about what happened to zepher, my thoughts are with his close friends and family.

i never got to meet zepher in person due to the huge distance between us but was able to trade with him on multiple times and in some trades that he assisted other users with. i always found our trades pleasurable and during one trade where he was late in posting he also included some extra items to make up for the lateness. zepher was a true professional in the way he conducted business and how he went out of his way to help other users, much of this i was not aware of until now.

the forum has lost a valued member and great person, you will be sorely missed but not forgotten.

MJ, did you find out if the mom is BTC savy?  If not, maybe it could be converted to something more usable for her?   Or maybe just load it on a pretty physical coin as a nice gesture?

Pretty sure it's going to get converted to PayPal, but that's just what I heard.

I have nothing to say about Zepher, him and I haven't interacted at all. I did see his posts every time I visited the collectibles section.

My condolences are with his friends and family.

However, I do want to say something about the solidarity shown by the forum members here.
When I came across this thread, I was deeply moved. I've been dealing with some issues off lately. Things that have left me broken mentally.. and unlike Zepher I don't have many friends here (or in real life).. I really didn't bother making any. So its. really nice to see this.. you guys have no idea..  :)

But this isn't about me.. it's about the loving words and respect shown by everyone on this thread.

To all of you, I just want to say Thank you

.. I can't say that I am thanking on behalf of the dead guy that I didn't knew .. but I am thanking all of you for giving a guy like me.. some hope..

I actually didn't believed the news at first but it really made me sad when I came to be sure of it later on.

I never interacted with Zepher nor I had any conversation with him. But I really felt he was on same page when he supported my feedback when I was not on DT on ibminer's profile. It really felt happy at that time when I got a support of someone but now it seems like I have lost a leg of some kind to support me.

My condolences with his family, friends in this difficult time.

R.I.P Zeph...

I was moved when str4wm4n passed away, after they got some issue due a hack account and zeph was scammed, though str4wm4n resolve the issue and pays the damage taken and now it's zeph. Yet I'll never interacted with zeph related to transactions but he's one of the users I look up in this community especially with his escrow service, and I use his moves/posts as references and even contacted him related to escrows, that's why I want to become an escrow and now here I am.

My condolences to zepher's family and friends. You will be missed from this community bro.

May you rest in peace.

Zepher was my first for everything here on btalk. My first purchase, my first trade, and my first friend made here. I sure was your typical newbie,  and Zeph was very helpful and patient with me. He was there for me in the beginning as well in the end when I went through some forum issues. I will cherish our time spent together. It’s still hard to accept the fact that he’s gone, but his legacy here will forever live on with many of us. RIP B- until next time !

Also, these coins are available at no charge (not including shipping) to the first 100 forum members who request them. Each of those forum members will receive 10 of these coins to share with friends, strangers, whomever. Zepher and his contributions to the bitcoin community will be remembered thru all of you.

Ive start my Engrave Businiess in Oktober 2016 and Zepher was the first person i get in contact here in the forum.
He liked my Bracelet and we get in talk about Bitcoin Collectibles and other neet BTC stuff, atleast he made the first order i got with my business and i was very happy about it.

In December 2016 Zepher and a other friend next to me made a deal with some collectibles and my friend ask me to attend him to Birmingham because he never meet the person before and like to have a little backup.
We arrived in Birmingham and Zepher was waiting for us near the Airport for a pickup and a breakfast in town. It only take a few words after our first meeting and we lost all "fear" and was immidently like a small friendship.
We talked the hole journey about BTC shit and other business we had much fun in this moment. It was like meeting a old friend we know for year...
After this my friend vanish from the BTC scene, and i was in talk with Zepher from time to time als meet him the last time on CoinFestUK 2018.

With my small mining Equip i helped Zepher to make some secure Vanity Wallets and im still proud every time a see a Wallet starting with "1Zepher"...

Bitcoin, Collectibles, Altcoins and other valuable things Zepher was the right Person for all off this and every deal with him was a pleasure !

I do not really know what to say even more, i can not believe he is not there anymore...

R.I.P Zepher, we already miss you  :-[

Goodbye Zeph. :'(

I never wrote on this thread, as I always have trouble with these sort of things. You were one of the best in this community and it deeply saddens me to know that you're no longer with us; you were always so eager to help others, you were passionate, driven, full of integrity, and were a genuine person. I was just looking back and reading through all of our old DMs and how much you helped me over the little time that we got to know one another; I even acquired one of my most prized collectibles from you for which I'll always think of you each time I look at it.

Thanks for everything, rest in peace brother.
