Title: Are You The INTELLIGENT Cryptocurrency Investor?
Post by: Cryptomillionaires on February 26, 2019, 02:31:44 AM
If you wish to be an intelligent investor in the cryptocurrency markets, you are about to get your chance. The speculators have gone home, the optimists have packed their bags and the pessimists are running the show.

While we may be lacking in the financial data required to obtain true intrinsic value estimations we now have the opportunity to look for real companies, building the future, expanding their size and generating revenues and profits.

If we assume to know that the current sentiment is negative and that we are likely sitting in the depression stage of the market cycle, we can then compare this list of high-quality companies to the current pricing, stage in the cycle and their past market values to arrive at a value approximation.

The Intelligent Cryptocurrency Investor

Recently I have been reading “The Intelligent Investor” By Benjamin Graham. I have read a lot of trading and investing books, so it was interesting that I had not read this iconic piece already. There is a wealth of old knowledge in this book that still rings true today. In fact, I have found recently that reading old books, or “classics” often gives you a better summary of the core principles around a topic than the new editions.

Let me set the scene with a quote from the book.

The whole point of investing is not purely to earn more money than average, but to earn enough money to meet your own needs. The best way to measure your investing success is not by whether you are beating the market right now, but whether you have put in a financial plan and a behavioural discipline that are likely to get you to where you want to go. In the end what matters isn’t crossing the finish line before anybody else but making sure that you do cross it.
It’s easy for us to lose focus on this, with the constant feed of price data and news headlines our brains can become completely overwhelmed. Cryptocurrency investing is unique. It involves a much larger degree of speculation than stock market investing because there is a distinct lack of hard, factual and financial data.

This means you need new frameworks for valuation and trading, which is why for cryptocurrency I have leaned towards focussing on the technical analysis of long term trends and market psychology. I believe this is the approach I will be using for a long time yet, as I cannot see a wealth of new data flooding the scene any time soon.

The Intrinsic Value Of A Cryptocurrency
While we cannot accurately speculate on the intrinsic value of a cryptocurrency without insider knowledge of assets, revenues and profits we can evaluate the opinion and beliefs of the market participants. In value investing the first step is to run the numbers and decide what the overall value of the business is by looking at its current net assets, it’s past performance and conservative future revenue earning potential. Yet in cryptocurrency, we do not have this data. What we are left to make our judgments from is past market values and market psychology at that time. Doing this will give us an approximation to the “true market value” (different to the intrinsic value).

For example, if a cryptocurrency has been falling into an area that it held previously on a number of occasions, you can assume that this level was a fair market value for that cryptocurrency. However, what you need to add into this technical calculation, is the emotional state of the market at previous times, and at this current time.

Let’s say that as price approached this specific level, and it then broke down. Did the price break down because of the overall negative market sentiment? Or was it due to more negative market opinions of the individual asset in question? If it was caused by an overall shift in the market sentiment, there is a chance this asset dropped below its true market value due to the manipulation in overall emotions. However, if the price dropped in a time of overall positive market sentiment, it is more likely that there is something specific and different about the asset in question.

Determining The Top Of An Asset Bubble
Now, all of this information is useful to determine the potential bottoms, and the true market value of cryptocurrencies, however, it is most helpful when judging and profiting from the overvaluation of assets.

As we talked about earlier individual cryptocurrencies are highly speculative in nature. Combine this with the fact that the majority of the investors are non-institutional or “average” people we can begin to create a clearer picture. The result is a market environment much like the early years of the stock market. A plethora of new valuation methods are being created, and the market is still dominated by emotion.

To use the terminology of Howard Marks, we see the pendulum of investor psychology swing back and forth, at an incredibly fast speed. What would usually take weeks, months or years, happens in hours and days. This is due to a lack of sophistication, liquidity, and players in the market. One of the main lessons I have learned in cryptocurrency is that what goes up, will almost always come back down.

We can use our framework of fair market value to observe assets that have been pushed up above this level and are likely headed for a retracement. We can also use this framework to inform potential buying opportunities as prices approach fair market valuations.

The Psychology Of An Intelligent Investor
Back in the spring of 1720, Sir Isaac Newton owned shares in the South Sea Company, the hottest stock in England. Sensing that the market was getting out of hand, the great physicist muttered that he “could calculate the motions of the heavenly bodies, but not the madness of the people.” Newton dumped his South Sea shares, pocketing a 100% profit totaling £7,000. But just months later, swept up in the wild enthusiasm of the market, Newton jumped back in at a much higher price — and lost £20,000 (or more than $3 million in today’s money). For the rest of his life, he forbade anyone to speak the words “South Sea” in his presence.
Why is this relevant?

The problem illustrated above is that nobody can predict the top of such bubbles or price increases. In the case of cryptocurrency, prices often take time to return to their fair market value, but they usually do. There are miniature bubbles confined to a handful of assets expanding and popping constantly because nobody believes, or can accurately assess the “intrinsic value” of these cryptocurrencies. There always becomes a price so high, that nobody wants to pay it anymore. Then the news turns negative, sentiment shifts, and the crowd moves from that “hot” asset to the next “hot asset”.

“The market is a pendulum that forever swings between unsustainable optimism (which makes stocks too expensive) and unjustified pessimism (which makes them too cheap). The Intelligent Investor is a realist who sells to optimists and buys from pessimists.” — Benjamin Graham
In cryptocurrency, our main role is to assess the cycle of emotions, and how that cycle is correlated to price, and I believe the above quote serves that purpose. In cryptocurrency, the optimists are usually proved wrong, and when the last pessimist falls, those optimists will take control yet again.

No crypto currency investor is intelligent, we are crazy people, doesn't mean we are idiots, there are a lot of smart people among us and there are a lot of idiots as well but when it comes to intelligence and being a crazy person the line is thin. You can call nikola tesla smartest person we know but he was off his brain man, he was a crazy guy who was in love with a pidgeon from his loneliness.

We are kinda like that but not all of us are that smart. Investing into crypto currency is not something an intelligent person would do, intelligent person would invest into something common and obvious like getting stocks of a stable company or something, yeah you can have down moments in that but in the long run 40+ years time you will be rich. Bitcoin and all others are what we do for weird stuff that goes 2000% in a year and drop 90% the next year, we are not in the right set of mind for sure :D.

I like the term "INTELLIGENT Cryptocurrency Investor", lol.

But I don't know if you find that kind of investors here,  ;D, most of them are noobs who really wanted to get a quick buck, so shall we say, be a millionaire and buy lambo.

I don't know but I guess people gaining experience from Bullish -> Bear market is enough for them to be "smart" and learn a lot of valuable lessons, isn't it?

Anyways, you are offering something for free, so I guess everyone should take part of it and see how you became a noob to a smart investor.  ;D

No one in this crypto market is intelligent or brave, because what happens is completely upon the supply to the demand. Even the intelligent trading moves get us into major losses. More we observe the market more will be the opportunity to profit, because it is not like the forex or the shares trading where intelligence give hands.

the market happens purely from requests and offers here, so there is no intelligence crypto here. prices rise, meaning many investors are willing to buy them, and vice versa

Smart people will not invest in cryptocurrency, they may prefer to invest in goods that have been commonly invested such as property, gold, stocks, etc. However, not everyone who invests in cryptocurrency is an idiot because there are many smart people who have started investing in cryptocurrency.

I like your thoughts about cryptocurrency investors. Yes we are cazy in a way that we are investing our money for a none existent investment. No medium, no real money to circulate but still we are able to grow our money. That's the way we are crazy and not intelligent (lol).

In the current position, cryptocurrency is a very speculative market. The cryptocurrency market right now is a wild west or gold rush in Alaska. Unfortunately, cryptocurrencies attracted people not by their unique technology, but by a thirst for rapid enrichment. Greed led tens of thousands of people to the crypto who wanted to get rich quick. Some even took loans or mortgaged their house to buy bitcoins. Unfortunately, these things end badly. And many people lost money, because they did not even think about how dangerous and reckless it was. It was not an investment but speculation. And for many, very unfortunate.

As for me, Intelligent or not I depend on the mob's(my team, investors group consist of friends and families) reaction to invest more or not to. I don't know many things like analyzing on graphs reading basic chart flows. I only know how to put money in my portfolio or sell them.

You cant be an intelligent investor without being a veteran in this industry of trading. Because if you are an intelligent person with a high IQ this doesnt mean you are intelligent in everything that exists. You cant just become an intelligent investor by reading a book or two , or taking a few lessons from a veteran. You have to learn it on your own work ,wich happens a long term

That overview is the opposite of the crowd. This is often profitable and sometimes makes you famous, but you have to make sure that you have a wealth of knowledge about investment and finance.
Besides, it is very difficult to control yourself from the crowd's emotions. Emotional decisions often bring bad failures. So learn how to control emotions, be consistent with your portfolio, it will bring you victory.

There is no truth that the smart people do not invest in crypto. Smart people do not invest all their money in crypto. By dividing the money, you divide the risk. Your earnings may also reduce accordingly, but it is more smart to have fewer losses.

There are smart investors in crypto and there are also idiots, I may even be one of the idiots but I sure knew where to invest that will make me look smart - I invest in BTC. That I think will make me smart and I did it without an effort.  What also made me an idiot is I sell too late but I think its not just me.

If you mean intelligent as measured by the number of successful coins one has in the portfolio, I would say nope, that is not intelligence but luck. Take for instance, people invested in bitcoin (unarguably the best crypto) but are still stucked on it with losses while some have angrily sold with losses. I think is about timing and luck.

If you are a person that you want to invest no matter how long it takes to take profits, invest now in Bitcoin, because it is simply an intelligent investment over the years ... and if you take into account that we are in the phase where it is Bitcoin must be accumulated, there will not be another where you can buy for less. Once the uptrend begins, many people will not want to lose it, and will start buying a lot more expensive.

If you can read and you have good speculation you can earn profit in doing trading. But, I think it's not about the luck but its about how skillful you are in doing trading. It's hard to become intelligent trader but if you keep learning someday you can become skillful and wise trader.

thanks to stop limit because he has done a good job helping many people reduce their losses. So my advice: never forget Stop Limit

But, I think it's not about the luck but its about how skillful you are in doing trading.

it is about practice, the more practice the person has, the better results the person will have

I was brave I bought some coins in the past that today gave me a certain profit

That's because you hold, if you had done day trade it would be something else.

By just simply avoiding to put all your assets in one investment you can be at least an intelligent one. It may be sound easy to say to diversify our assets but some people really having hard time to do this, idk if it's just because they're afraid or what.

But really I prefer to be called a wise man than an intelligent one.

being intelligent when it comes to making an investment comes down to having a lot of experience. you might have the highest IQ in the world but as long as you don't know how the markets work you will never be able to successfully make profit from them.
the good news is that experience in investing and trading can easily be gained as long as you use your head instead of blindly following others on the internet. you just have to analyze a lot, both your trades and the market.

being intelligent when it comes to making an investment comes down to having a lot of experience. you might have the highest IQ in the world but as long as you don't know how the markets work you will never be able to successfully make profit from them

You should be sort of genetically predisposed (hard-wired) for trading

So I don't know if it is possible to acquire it through experience. What I refer to here is how you act and react in cases where your trading pains become unbearable (technically, you can't use your head in these moments), i.e. what you do when things go massively awry

For example, if you are predisposed to panic, then it is unlikely that you will be able to profit from trading consistently as such people are called pigs in trading parlance and for a reason (they get slaughtered when the market makes a sudden turn against them)

It is always hard to tell if you have right investments not unless if you stick to the known coins. And being the intelligent investor would mean not losing your money. The question is how can you not lose your money when investing on unknown coins? For me it is a matter of a gamble. And being intelligent investor does not always end up so easy. Experiences would be a good foundation to become an intelligent investor and not just by purely reading details. It is always easy to say things than do it..

If you want to be successful as an investor you will have to keep your emotions away and don’t even listen any one just focus on your goal and try to trust only your researches and make sure you are well aware of all market movements because it will help you avoid all problems to become a good investor and it will give you good investment experience.
That's how the Strong Hands think, they do not even take into account the news, except when they are Fundamental, for the rest, they only make their movements and do not divulge them, they just wait for it to happen, of course, this is a Financial Education very high, and understand 100% the market, which, does not guarantee that you can not lose, often lose, but your profit margin is higher.

being intelligent when it comes to making an investment comes down to having a lot of experience. you might have the highest IQ in the world but as long as you don't know how the markets work you will never be able to successfully make profit from them

You should be sort of genetically predisposed (hard-wired) for trading

So I don't know if it is possible to acquire it through experience. What I refer to here is how you act and react in cases where your trading pains become unbearable (technically, you can't use your head in these moments), i.e. what you do when things go massively awry

For example, if you are predisposed to panic, then it is unlikely that you will be able to profit from trading consistently as such people are called pigs in trading parlance and for a reason (they get slaughtered when the market makes a sudden turn against them)
Absolutely, I supported what you said because the intelligent part is not enough to make a crypto currency investors successful because the level of control ones emotions when the market is not doing good is also important and almost every on this forum advice people to be patience when the market are red but how many people really have that patience?
This is why I consider trading and gambling the samething type of investment.

Short story, a guy invested in bitcoin in 2010, everyone told he is an idiot cause he invested in some imaginary technology, after some time he is a millionaire and intelligent investor. This happened with some other cryptocurrencies too, when you look a big picture I`m sure same happens with investing in anything else, in beginning everyone tells you that you are crazy, after some time it turns to be that you are very intelligent. When you look at the things like that most of the people on this forum are very intelligent investors, they invest time, energy or money into this and this is the future.

I was once one of those who invested to a token and hold when its was first listed in the market, it was one of the biggest mistake I did because I found out everyone dumped the tokens they bought. Not the sharpest that I thought but I learned from it.

I think the most smart crypt investor I can see are those who earn tokens by just taking it through bounties and trade the earned coins like they know what they are doing.

Thats a smart move, but not as smart as the person who negotiate with big investors and ask them to fund his trading skills. Not making a loan, but making an agreement. Good traders always gets profit no matter what the market condition is, and no matter how much profit he gain in a daily basis. Huge capital means huge profit, thats why you need those big time investors.

I like this, "The Intelligent Investor is a realist who sells to optimists and buys from pessimists.” — Benjamin Graham  ;D   I think most people get stuck into pessimists opinions and never explore the motivation and hidden agendas behind that. We have a lot of negativity that are driven by shills from our competition, so you can easily fall into their trap, if you accept their FUD as truth.  ::)

Take a step back and analyse both optimist and pessimist opinions and try to find the truth in between the two. Emotions does not belong in the financial decision making process.  :P

It will take a lot of time and experience before anyone can be considered an intelligent investor in cryptocurrency. There’s even no 100 percent intelligent investor.

Intelligent investors are mostly people who in one way or the other have learnt from a costly mistake. To be an intelligent investor in cryptocurrency, you must learn to have the virtue of patience if going for a long-term investment and one must have completely overcome greed if choosing trading option, so either ways ,a price is been paid to becoming intelligent in cryptocurrency

the risk can lessen if you scan well your crypto that your are planning to invest in, it does not mean that you are be able to have a good return in the end there were lots of ICO that seems to be a good one and can be useful but in the end the team abandon it that is the big risk that the investors must overcome.

For me yes because I only invested my time and effort in cryptocurrency. Though it maybe a wise chooce but it is way safer than using our own funds to invest in an unsure environment asset such as cryptocurrency. We can also be intelligent because of the fact that we survive even how risky crypto industry is. If we are not an intelligent investor I don't think if we can still stay here for long.

Holding for a longtime could be an intelligent move but does not always make one an intelligent investor.
I had an ugly experience few years ago, was able to work for some coins and then I accumulated a lot of it so sudden there was a drop in the market but because of what I’ve heard about I, I kept on holding until almost all the coins were gone.

A t time smartness would let one know is time to sell off immediately then buy back when the market is really very down. You are lucky to have been early before the bull run of 2017, but are you aware this ongoing bear market is another time to buy more so that the speculated 2020 bull will be interesting.

not only in long term but also in short and mid term or depends on the persons goal but being intelligent means you know how to chose a coin and you must know thier risk  . however being intelligent is not enough because there are still alot of factors that can affect the price of the coins  .  im intelligent but i must confess that i loose sometimes  , for sure others do also loose like me  .

To be smart, we need always to learn more related to cryptocurrency. We cannot be an intelligent cryptocurrency investor if we don't know anything especially if we want to invest in one project. We should learn about the project, how good their plans and who are the teams. That will bring many pieces of information to us so we can decide to invest or to move to the next project.

There is no stop word for learning crypto or the other, and we need to dedicate our time to learn so we can get more information which can be useful for ourselves. I am sure that every people can learn from many sources and I don't think that people want to stop learning because only with learning, they can get the benefits of cryptocurrency.

Its not possible to understand cryptocurrency, as its unpredictable, yeah we can be smart and try and make the choices we feel are correct, but despite that we could still be wrong and end up not making profits.
Nothing is guaranteed, but we can get our chances high enough by making the right choices and by being smart

Loved it.

Yes it is not just about beating others but just in good control of yourself.
Mostly it happens to me way back when I cannot calm myself and cannot even sleep for almost 2 days just because a dump is happening.
A dozen of coffee was already finished just so I could monitor what is happening.
Stopping a panic is not that easy. Imagine having a large conversion and then seeing it miniature again in just a sweep.

If somehow you could get away from the internet you should but it just pulls you back again to look at what could the price could be.
I think it happened not just to me but to a lot of investors here.

But afterwards, if we break through that wall then we became wise men.  ;)

TBH, there's no need for you memorize a such characteristics (or whatsoever). Just FAMILIARIZE yourself on how do the industry work and adapt to changes. Familiarization and adaptation seems to be more appropriate word to use.

Smart investor, I guess. Every actions or moves I made must be interconnected to my research and/or reports. Though, I can say 80-20 is how I work. 80% on research 20% on gut feels.

I think the first step an intelligent investor would do, is to First of all look very well into the coin he wishes to invest in and be sure it’s a a coin that will pass the test of time. Not just to leave every coin that looks promising but once proper scan has been done on a coin and one more thing is knowing the right time to pull out.

Not every time a coin should be left for a longtime. A good study will tell when to pull out and probably buy back; it takes wisdom to be an intelligent investor. The post is really helpful and I personally have learnt a lot of new things

You have just hit the nail on the head. So many things are to be put in consideration in becoming an intelligent investor, like you say you depend on books and chart and this in anyway does not make one completely intelligent and because sometimes even with the reliance on charts one could still be disappointed.

Just like I believe being experienced is better than being intelligent because this posters definition of an intelligent investors in this scenario is not clear.

Investment comes in different types and is generally a broad topic to discuss and study. Investment is never easy, it takes time, commitment, passion, self-discipline, focus, and other quality traits in order to gain knowledge, skills, and experience. To be a successful and an intelligent investor is to never stop learning, continue to explore for more investment ideas, and have the hunger to learn. The world of investment is not all about winnings, never be afraid to fail, learn from failures and move on.

I think the others are not good also, they're just trying to be good even it's not because it's really hard to have a good mind in investment. No doubt it is our own duty to search about coin we are investing, if we will not do hard work or move smarter we can suffer lose which is not good for sure, new users most of time do mistakes which is not good before investing kindly be wise and choose promising coin after that never sell for panic, it is big mistake which can make you suffer lose, so better avoid miner mistakes It will help you making huge profits.

It can be very helpful. There are people who never take out their time to read and learn the stuff they are into, they just jump in and follow they crowd wherever they are heading to. It’s good to read, cause it you don’t, there are things that you will never get to know.

That will be a bad idea to trade using the luck because it's not so simple like that. People need to learn about trade, and they need to understand how to become a good trader. Trading will be different than the investor since in the trading, we react with the market movements and we try to make a profit in daily, weekly, or even monthly. But for the investor, they don't buy and sell in daily, and they prefer to stay silent for a long time, and if they see the time to sell their coins comes, then they will sell and take the biggest profit.

But to be a smart investor, we need to know and we need, to understand that the crypto market is always changing from time to time and we don't want to become panic when the price is falling. That is why we need to read more and more information related to the coin we have so we can know the next step we should do if something bad happens.

Books are obsolete, people are not writing book about crypto, this is quite new to people so you cannot read a lot of info in a book.
In the first place, why would you have to pay for a book when there are a lot of free information in the internet.

It can be very helpful. There are people who never take out their time to read and learn the stuff they are into, they just jump in and follow they crowd wherever they are heading to. It’s good to read, cause it you don’t, there are things that you will never get to know.

Articles, news, and anything that could be useful to decision making can be find in the net, the rest is just based on our analysis.

If other people were able to make it, I'm sure we can also be successful but we need to be an smart investor to do that, things are possible if you work your way on reaching your goal.

Indeed, books were an outdated tool, if we wanted to know something, google will provide everything, even a lot of people will aggregate and create a perfect answer for us, we don't need to read books. And whether we have become an intelligent investor or not, we cannot answer, what we can do is make effort and improve at a constant speed, until everyone around confirms our talents and results, that is probably the time when we are called smart investors

Right. If you plan to be an investor, better have all the knowledge and information you can get since that will be your foundation prior to gaining important experiences. Be observant as well and don't be afraid to make mistakes and ask help from people who are more experienced and know better.

I agree with this. We are all speculative investors looking for much greater gains than the Wall St tumble.

Investing in crypto is something us new age investors take a lot of specter in. There's so many ways to invest and make returns or losses that it is not even in the spectrum of being a conservative intelligent investment.

I'd still want to say that we still need books. Even if we have google, we can't tell if all of the content is credible. This is why many academics discourage the use of internet sources. When I was in college, there were times when papers were discredited just because the sources were from the internet. Almost anyone can upload information on the internet -- so you can't just say that it's scholarly. Even a 10 year old could use the internet nowadays.

The internet is full of useful information, yes, but we can't well say that its enough to make us intelligent.

A critical proof of intelligence for me, is when you ensure you do not invest during the pump period, but invest when the price is bear, also ensuring you take profit and not waiting for unrealistic speculations, flying around in the space.
My rul is to research before investing and not invest before you research, in order to take a calculated risk.

Intelligent some times leads to the negative part. But so far have been able to secure more assets when I see that such coin is trading low, most especially at the first launch on exchange. Also diversifying of portfolio is a major concern for investors because the almighty coin one invested in with thorough research can take a while to boom, so I take my time and split my investment around.

You don't need to understand the movement or the market itself. We are investing in a crypto currency and a lot of people, obviously you people know how volatile the price is and how hard to keep up with the price changes. Instead of trying to understand the market, try to keep the pace with the changes as you will be used to it if do it for a long time.

I disagree, movements in the graph is a sign of your decision, prediction, and speculation. There's a mathematical way to be shown using the movements of the cryptocurrency to know when will it pump. As long as there's a graph, we can't just stay and chill for the pump of cryptocurrency, we shouldn't keep the pace with the changes 'cause it will just give nothing.

Its not about being wise here. Its about being dilligent enough and not a stubborn rock. People learn this from making mistakes of putting their money in coins they thought to be worth big amounts in future but turned out to be complete crap and waste of time and money. Then again we have bagholders who are always enthusiastic about a certain coin and you are free to join their bandwagon if you wish to.

What exactly does "deep knowledge" mean here? If someone is having "higher" knowledge then they would not be investing - rather other people would be investing into them. Get my point? Smart investors exist but they are rare. Majority of the crypto lovers are kool-aid crew with empty skulls.

Yeah profit making is very important in crypto currency because when someone invest in crypto currency he invests with the hope that he will gain profit so only our determination and skills can help us in this matter, being intelligent is very important and those who invest at low price and then hold with patience to sell at high price are actually intelligent.

Not really that important . some invest ( i.e buys a crypto )  because they will use it for payment purposes and not for an asset use ( i.e trades ) .   not all who invest in low price are intelegent and not all who hodl or patient person are intelegent   , they may only know the basics of trading and investing but being intelligent means you have a deep understanding on other technical aspects of crypto and on the blockchain which most of us doent not have  .

Unless and until you are smart and skilled in analyzing, i am sure you may not be making profits. Your knowledge and skills leads you analyze and navigate through to gain profits out of your investment. Hence, knowledge is really important i would say rather than being so intelligent. Learn from your failures and act accordingly. This will certainly yield profits.

Right. If you plan to be an investor, better have all the knowledge and information you can get since that will be your foundation prior to gaining important experiences. Be observant as well and don't be afraid to make mistakes and ask help from people who are more experienced and know better.

Unfortunately, most people who invested in bitcoin last 2017 where also the ones who did not do their research and background before. They impulsively followed the bandwagon and dump their money on bitcoin resulting to a tremendous increase on its price (which was around $20,000). After a few days, its price decreased and hit rock-bottom. These people who lost most of their money are also the ones saying that bitcoin is dead, cryptocurrencies are a scam... but the ones to blame are them.

An intelligent cryptocurrency investor would always research and study the market before purchasing any coins. They smartly speculate about the upcoming trend and hypothesize about the happening of current events which is a factor in its price movement.

I'm not sure what being intelligent actually refers to here

For example, you basically say that people who bought in late 2017 were not intelligent investors, but we know that only in hindsight (remember, everyone is wise after the event). With that said, how do we really know if today's prices are going to explode and not in fact crash a few times again in the coming months? So how can researching and studying the market help for real if the whole shebang is still mostly about gambling and just hopes (likely futile)?

Well that should be how traders normally deal with trading. You don't have to be really intelligent to figure that out. Me personally, i don't consider myself that smart since i still make a lot of common mistakes, sometimes due to panic and emotions,  even if i've been doing this for quite some time already.

Being intelligent is different from your emotions or what you feel  . i mean you cant just control your emotions because you are only a human your not a robot  . its okay of you feel worried or scared , its okay to panic but dont doesnt mean that you are not an inteligent person  .  its just that crypto investing is a hard job that no one manage to master because there are lots of factors that can affect their outcome .

You need to be careful with who you were asking for suggestions, even with the friends you have to be much aware since everyone in this world is selfish they don't want you to be more richer than them so they may guide you in wrong path.
I personally don’t trust anyone about crypto currency because it s not something easy, we have allot of money spent for it, so being careful is very important, an intelligent investor must have plans to invest on right time like at red and then hold until it makes profit for you, I use blockchain to store my coin and share my private key with no one.

In fact, smart people will no longer want to invest in cryptocurrency now this time. In my basic idea they would want to invest in some of the products that would have a huge demand in the crypto market. Because they always think that their investment is a property.

You are not alone mate. I don’t think there’s anyone that completely an intelligent investor. We all make mistakes especially in decision making but the whole idea is to keep learning and upgrading. Decision making is one of things that make us human; we are not expected to get it right at all times.

There have been times I look back at some crazy mistakes I made especially in trading and some coins I have invested in that crashed and am like whoa, if only I had some to put me through. But it’s all part of the market and it’s interesting. No regrets at all

Intelligent investors will invest now a day because price is not very high, if waiting for more time will increase the price but it will not be good to get in market, high price time is good only for sellers for buyer price should be low so that they can sell when market will recover the value, with high price.

I don't consider myself as an intelligent investor in crypto, basically because i'm still making the same mistakes a lot of times. I'm a decent trader and investor at best and i'll admit that i still have a lot to learn. I also have an amount set aside for long term holdings like 5 years or more. At least in that part i can say i'm trying to be intelligent.

I don't know, who will you consider intelligent, those who can only make profit from invest or also are able to buy at the right time and wait few year's for something big.Actually, investors are not always intelligent, they madw mistake often and that cost them.Everytime we can't make profit because the market is always unpredictable.

Just a trader i would say instead of saying an intelligent. I love this platform and yes even a beginner can earn a decent profit with less investment. What is really needed is the learning and experience. Experience will certainly enhance everything. Hence spend time in analyzing the market, coins and exchanges where volume is more and so on.

I think in the end to measure that you are an intelligent or not is based on the profit your earn, if you can reap a lot of profit and know when to exit then you are a smart investor, if you lose money then you are not a smart investor, there are a lot of ways to make money in crypto it depends on how good you analyse the situation, an intelligent investor could predict and speculate based on the details and the implementation roadmap of the project

“Investing isn’t about beating others at their game. It’s about controlling yourself at your own game.”

I really like your last sentence. I am struggling with myself to keep calm when investing. I have felt bad times many times and have failed many times when my self was not assertive. I was hesitant to place buy or sell orders.
My greed and lack of knowledge made me disoriented. so I think the best quality of an investor is control. If he takes control of him, he is definitely a great investor.

Unless and until you are smart and skilled in analyzing, i am sure you many not be making profits. Your knowledge and skills leads you to analyze and navigate through to gain profits out of your investment. Hence, knowledge is really important i would say rather than being so intelligent. Learn from your failures and act accordingly. This will certainly yield profits.

Intelligent investor are surely not the one who are only earning but those are intelligent who are investing on right time, and selling on right time, long ago when I enter the market I was told about crypto market that if I truly want to be rich I will have to make wise decision with full of his senses that buy when the price is low and sell when the price will be high.

Great post and this part of your long post, shows that even really smart people who can understand the market and should have known not to do a re-entry can fail and then have to learn to live with those consequences.

Knowing when to take profit or cut losses are extremely important when you trade crypto, most altcoins even those in top100 have no real value or purpose, but people still trade them as they have.

I doubt how much they actually revealed about their money or earnings. Nobody wants to do that because they become targets for robbers and tax evasion problems even if they may not have been having a huge impact in older days. Many times these quotes are just paid up FUD to promote some assets which have zero value in them.

People still trade them because they did not find anything to make money on and someone fooled them to buy those shitcoins. Its more like an obligation to trade on them rather than a passion. :D

Maybe. Maybe not. I try to take less risk and more profit. It is not possible everytime but possible if we have strategy. I do forex trading and I started crypto trading from that. I use 2.5% risk ratio with trading so if I lose it’s not too much and when I win it’s good because I keep trades on for long. I use Trading Tools (https://cryptolinks.com/bitcoin-futures), which helps but I also follow Market Forecast from many companies like Instaforex/Exness and others. It helps most.
