Title: ETH wallet for phone?
Post by: spngebob on February 27, 2019, 04:37:35 PM
Recommend me good ethereum wallet for phone.

It has to be very simple, nothing complicated and place where my private keys will be safe and accessible, something like mycelium for btc.

Im using Imtoken when it comes to erc20.Just choose out either 1.0 or 2.0.The latest one is great but the UI of the older ones i do prefer the most.

You can use Coinomi wallet on your mobile for ETH and more cryptocurrencies as well which is one of the best multi crypto wallet. And I saw that MEW launched a wallet on play store so you need to take a look on it as well.

I'll check it. Which version is simpler and safer?

Hold up with that thought, I have just read that they discovered exploit and someone lost funds. So no at the moment.

And I saw that MEW launched a wallet on play store so you need to take a look on it as well.
Do you have link to official announcement?

MEWconnect for Android: Official GooglePlay Release (https://medium.com/myetherwallet/mewconnect-for-android-official-googleplay-release-50f58881e1fd)

But I think it is still in the beta version so don't deposit all the money initially, just go through all the reviews and consider about using it.

I also use coinomi wallet for keeping some of the altcoins that it supports. But after looking with one incident that happened recently, that made me think to transfer my funds to a better wallet so I'm not recommending it anymore to anyone.

This is the link for that incident: Coinomi wallet sends your plain text seed phrase to Google (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5114778.0)

I personally use Blockchain and Jaxx wallet on mobile to store my Etherem and other cryptocurrencies I have. In my opinion this are the best wallets for mobile you can probably have, especially blockchain because it's very easy to use and also very safe.

Blockchain.info wallet can be good for storing very small amounts and also you can use coinbase wallet but it is not highly secured.

I used blockchain online wallet in the past but I don't like it.
What about Jaxx?

Jaxx also have some minor issues for me in the past so I don't recommend it for you, better use Coinomi over Jaxx in my opinion.

Id rather prefer Coinomi than Jaxx basing on user experience i dont have any problems with it.About coinbase and blockchain.info wallets, im not against with these web wallets
but these are only good for storing small amounts.

Its also mentioned about Imtoken app too which is good.

About coinbase and blockchain.info wallets
Isn't coinbase asking ID verification? If that is the case then no.
im not against with these web wallets
these are only good for storing small amounts.
This is not something I am looking for, I am looking for safe wallet for phone.
I'll try Imtoken and mew for now.

MyEtherWallet has heir own android wallet. Why don't you use it? It is the most trusted wallet for ETH and its token. I am using it for last couple of weeks without any problems.

I would suggest you,Use Blockchain wallet for Ethereum(you can also use it for bitcoin). You can download blockchain wallet from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=piuk.blockchain.android&hl=en

you can also use Trust wallet. to download trust wallet: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wallet.crypto.trustapp
But OP is asking for a wallet with private keys, blockchain wallet don't have private key access.

FYI TrustWallet is owned by Binance I think. I personally don't use them, but it looks good. Imtoken is what people usually use (bounty hunter).

I'll try Imtoken and mew for now.

If by safe you mean storing a large amount (or becomes a cold wallet) then you should not use your phone imo. Phone wallet is ideal for hot wallet, but not cold wallet or to store millions of cryptocurrency.

Well, I guess you have three option now: Imtoken, MEW, or TrustWallet.

I had a discussion on MEW android wallet. You can use it or MEW web too from mobile. Those two are trusted from same MEW organization. I never used the android app thoigh but I could trust them.

There are various types of mobile wallets, I think that depends on personal will.
I use a blockchain wallet because it's more practical

im a long time user of mew and i dont heard that they have an android app  .  i heard once that they are not related to those apps   .  maybe the app is only built by a fan boy or it maybe built by a hacker  . its unoficial so be ware before using those  .  just to be safe only use mew on the web  , bookmarking the official site is also a good idea to avoid getting phished .

It is an official and you can read the above links to find the official news to this wallet release. But still not recommended to use since it has not much reviews yet and it is in Beta version.

I have downloaded Imtoken and Mew, I think I will use Imtoken because I can store bitcoins too. I don't care about EOS wallet.
Thanks everyone, I will lock this topic now.
