There’s a new tv show in development called “Cryptos”, it will star actor Kevin Connolly.  When the actor was asked to comment on the show’s plot, he said: “The thing that scares people about crypto is a lack of understanding, People like myself are still learning, but the curiosity is there.”



I personally think this type of show, if done well, can raise a lot of awareness about bitcoin and move the market forward, so i'm excited! What do you guys think?

Don't get me wrong, but I expect bullshit.
It is like movies about trading. There are 2 kinds of movies:
1. Where some genius trader forsaw a market crash and shorted everything.
2. Someone found some insights about some companies and tried to get some easy money.
Both cases have almost nothing in common with trading.

I bet that something similar gonna happen again. They will show how some guys are getting free money in the bull market for early investing and how they are using this wonderful opportunity to make their movie, become financially independent and many other good things that many heard about.

We will see what will be the outcome of that tv show for the crypto society, but either way let's support it for now as media is a powerful tool to let people know and understand crypto currencies well.

Such television programs will have an effect if they are well exploited and prepared by people who understand Bitcoin and Blockchain.
The quote that "People like myself are still learning" can judge the results of such programs.
It will make changes if a cryptocurrency investor sets up a series about Cryptocurrency with a lot of real information and no intimidation of banks.

I remember before there were some movies and media people who talked about cryptos but the result was one: a lot of misinformation.

I hope this will be useful for the investors as the update will be in progress, also we can get some useful information from TV shows as media has been a powerful weapon in this generation. So I think it's a good thing happening for crypto sphere.

It's too early to say something similar to your statement and for the same reason, I am willing to contradict. If it is like an awareness show, I expect lot more other than just a trading forecast or raising money for companies. Let's wait and see how it turns out instead of jumping into a conclusion immediately! It may be something drastically different than conventional TV shows like bitcoin itself!

That kind of news is totally rumor. Bitcoin or other crypto currencies are not registered by government in entire world. there's is few countries allow bitcoin. So it could be say that its quite difficult initiative. But its possible that it could be mentioned in stock market news and it does happened. Infact few countries allow bitcoin and they didn't make a particular crypto channel or any tv show related to crypto market. Don't waste your time to read these trash stuff.

I am with you on this but that little part I bold in your comment is the key and it may sound easy but it rarely is done right! many of them only focus on what is "hot" because it is a TV show after all and you can't focus on boring stuff like the technology. everyone wants to see the pump and dumps and the exciting roller-coaster that is the market.
and the worst part of it is that they also sometimes focus ONLY on the negative parts and put them under magnifying glass. all of which is going to be more damaging than anything else.

How many episodes is it going to last? I mean, covering the stuff that consumers should know shouldn't take too long. If they end up with a hefty episode count, they might turn into some shill show.

Don't get me wrong, awareness is welcome for sure, but if the show gives off the impression that it's selling out, then they might actually have the opposite effect. I hope it's done tastefully.

Once the show can get the attention of crypto users, the show can probably just make speculations of what the market will do in the next few days, they can give some trade signals but eventually make use of it to profit. Its just my opinion but it might just what will happen.

Let's just hope that these wouldn't be a shitty movie that show people  that investing in crypto is a waste of time and money.

"crypto" does not mean "cryptocurrency". in fact crypto refers to cryptography which is only something that cryptocurrencies are using. calling it "cryptos" is a bad idea because if the show becomes popular it would be actually changing the meaning of the name and mislead people.

....and since they have already gotten the name wrong i wouldn't get my hopes up for them getting much else right!

Very nice show and lots of TV shows like this will go a long way to help created awareness about cryptocurrency and also help to educate and enlighten people about cryptocurrency and how it work, because it in not having the knowledge about cryptocurrency that breed the misinformation people have about cryptocurrency but onces the awareness and enlightenment is there people will fine it easy to trust and adopte cryptocurrency.

They both begin with the same six characters, so it's a bit childish to say that just because one arrived first, they are the only crowd allowed to use a short name for their term  ;D

They are just looking for the new thing because Hollywood is out of ideas and constantly pumping out remakes of original movies.  I didn't like Kevin Connelly and the show entourage, there is something very unlikeable about his smug arrogance.  The same goes for Mark Wahlberg.

I bet you didn't even bother to open the given link. The storyline says the overall plot of the show which seems decent to me.
I can't predict if the show will go good or bad but reading the storyline tells me that the show can go pretty well or will at least receive good support from the crypto community if cryptocurrencies are portrayed in a positive way in the show. Anyway, since it is still in the development stage I just hope that the show comes live some day and should not screw up somewhere just to end up not being telecasted on TV.

A TV show will definitely help a lot of people since people would learn a lot easier and faster about cryptocurrencies ,meaning the market will also benefit from this. As you said, the show has to be well done so that everyone will watch it as a normal show but in the same time learn about crypto.

It's sad that there is no data on the series on imdb (when something serious is going on, there's usually at least something), and even though Connolly is not nobody, popular websites did not bother to write any articles about his new show and websites like imdb and wikipedia don't have info on connection between Connolly and "Cryptos". The show seems to be in really early stages, and the background idea seems to be about crypto crowdfunding rather than disrupting financial industry, but the team contains crypto believers. If they make it 'Silicon Valley' style, it might be a good show and make a significant difference.

This highly effective news for the crypto market, but many people are now aware of bitcoin, and unfortunately this awareness does not give confidence to people with the price drop of bitcoin. If we see a bull season, I am sure that more capital will enter the sector.

At least few people around globe will understand about the need of the show is done in a right way making awareness. Because, just because the term bitcoin getting much popular TV shows might be created based on the same. So, if it is done as mentioned then truly it is a good initiative in supporting growth of cryptocurrency.

Emm, I did. And that is one of the reasons why I think it will fail.
The story seems to be taken from one of the hundreds of ICOs. And most of them are way overrated. The idea of the decentralized film studio and movie token seems stupid and uncompetitive in the real world.
In this movie we will see a compilation of cliches about cryptocurrencies and ICOs. Already now it seems hackneyed and I can only imagine how it will look in some years after the movie comes out.

Lot of shows that are produced really good, have good story and good people in it, had influence on me. Make me wanted to see and get more of the matter that were not my cup of tea. So I do believe that it can have positive impact on people, to get them curious and to help them to understand better this subject. On the other hand, not so good project could mean nothing special or can have counter effect. I hope that the first option will be presented to people cause everyone deserve to know more about cryptocurrency, explained as simple and clear as it can be.

That is a strong reason so far and I have realized it, far more understanding of crypto will keep the market going forward and there will be no more worry for ordinary people about bitcoin or crypto, because many lay people say bitcoin is only a transaction tool used for negative activities, this proves if they know bitcoin from something negative and do not have the desire to understand it further. If that tv show program about cryptocurrency can run, then that is something very good education for a wider public space.

can be a good thing or it can become a big nightmare, it will depend on who will be the people who will talk about bitcoin. The best way to talk about bitcoin will be with examples of uses bitcoin can have. if they explain technical aspects and do not show concrete uses that people can use bitcoin in real life, then it will not be very advantageous for bitcoin. There is also another point, if any one talk about using bitcoin to commit crimes, it will be very bad for bitcoin. TV channels are dangerous and every word you say on TV should be very careful

I also think it's a great idea to raise awareness about bitcoin. This will help people far from crypto to better understand it. Accordingly, this will accelerate the adoption of bitcoin as a payment.

I agree with a lot of comments here, however i think which ever way it goes, there's still benefits from the outcome. If the show is good, great - we get good TV and learn about crypto. However, if it's really just a hollywood "wow, drama, exciting", then again, at least there's exposure and more awareness about this topic. I guess, for now, it's all just speculations. We have to wait and see!

(Also, it would be cool if some experienced bitcoin investors or at least people who've done it and know something would be consulted when writing the script. If they have a good budget, they should definitely use it well).

So it will not be a open discussion in a Talk show environment, but rather a series with a pre-determined plot/story.  :P   Jason King the Producer seems to be very interested in Blockchain technology, because he cofounded the token-funded Academy School of Blockchain.

i hope it covers the shitshow that is going on in the altcoin market and the newbishness of the people who have been trying desperately to get in something that is cheap thinking having a low value is equal to being cheap and having potential!
while a bunch of scammers rip them off by fooling them into thinking their altcoin is  the next big thing!

I agree that because people cannot get the truth about crypto especially if they don't want to search on the website. They will get a misleading of information when they do not come to the right place. But of course, there will be people who still have a big curiosity about crypto, and they will try to search more and more to find the right answer.

Maybe it will hard for new people to understand about crypto especially for the process of how the crypto can get the price at the market or other else. But as long as they can know about how to send and receive the coin, it would not be a problem for them, and they can learn deeper in the crypto sphere.

Many people want to learn crypto instantly, and with fil shows on tv can represent learning about crypto even though it looks simpler. Deeper understanding will require not a little time and it must be understood correctly so as not to misunderstand. The possibility of a new program on TV will give you a sense of curiosity so that there will be many people who are interested in being able to enter it.

Am really looking forward to seeing the show this is the type of publicity cryptocurrency desperately needs.

This could be another way or idea for crypto companies or legit ICO sites to promote their project and platforms via advertising or just being interview on the show. Also, there could be hundreds to thousands of people who don't know that cryptocurrency exists in our world.

Cryptocurrency is helping us get a better chance. Investors didn't understand it before, so they lost money and lost money. I hope this program will help many people be aware of Crypto and Bitcoin, but people should know to take risks. Money does not disappear, it moves from one person to another.

Judging by how the cast is made and how the plot it was set up this might be a toned down version for the tv series “Billions” which is a great financial market centered tv show. The problem is how will this "Cryptos" be educational at the same time entertaining for their audience I know people tend to get bored a lot once they see a scene become a lecture of something. But if they managed to split the scenes for both educational and entertainment purposes like what Billions did this will be a hit show.

People should not be afraid to adopt a new system, they must study it first before judging.

I think I will stick to the television series in development by netflix instead.

A movie is not the best way to get understanding about cryptocurrency. It would attract you and give you the basic understanding of the concept, but you need to read, ask questions, do more research.
Movies and documentaries would give more popularity to bitcoin and attract interest.

It's the truth. The more people talk about something, the more interesting it is. An ordinary person when he looks at such a show, can seriously think and get carried away with cryptocurrency. I think it's great.

Actually a movie, if it is well done could really give you understanding about something. Of course you will not be able to learn everything about cryptocurrencies just by watching a movie but you will get all the information necessary to learn how it works and how can you start using it. Also it will teach you how to protect your coins and what are the risks when you get involved with cryptocurrencies.

I hope this one will be also available in my Country because a lot of people here are still not knowledgeable about bitcoin or cryptocurrency and this kind of show can enlighten them and make them understand cryptocurrency. A show about cryptocurrency is a very welcomed idea which will no doubt educate so many people on the history, use and benefit of cryptocurrency. I really commend the organizers of the show for bringing up such an amazing idea which will help reach out to so many people across the globe to educate them about cryptocurrency and blockchain.

It is too early to say something about it, but at least it serves for new interactions. Just like a documentary that is on Netflix '' Bitcoin or Banks '' something like that.

A great way to spread the news around the world and to educate people as well. Cryptocurrency will hit the mainstream and we can’t stop it. We should be more happy for this one, i hope they are more true crypto show than to be fully advertised show.

I have unfortunately not watched any tv show or movie which is cryptocurrency themed, although it has been mentioned in one or two movies in passing. (The bigbangtheory also had one episode which revolved around bitcoin mining in the early days)
It would be good if Bitcoin movies could be promoted more on the forum and other sites to increase popularity

That’s a great way to help the community, a crypto tv shows can help many people and it can actually educate more investors. I honestly don’t watched tv shows but if its more on cryptocurrency i believe I should not miss any episode of that show. Will try to look for this one on Netflix.  ;)

I dont know if it is just me or not but just by watching the trailer it does have a The net feel to the movie and it is trying to portray the cryptocurrency phenomenon just like when the internet started.

This could help somehow with the adoption.
But I am not expecting that it will become a popular TV show, only few people are crypto enthusiast in this world
and those who are really interested does not need to wait for a TV show to learn, they can use youtube and learn stuffs.

The TV show would start as the lead actor start its curiosity about cryptocurrency then the plot twist will come, money laundering, drugs etc. Lets put a little love story in the concept where he would meet a girl that also uses cryptocurrency and they fell in love with each other, little did the main actor know the girl he fell in love with was the leader of a dark web website which deals about guns, drugs etc.

         The TV has a huge impact on people. The biggest source of influence and manipulation is TV. I am afraid that in this "Cryptos" show, if the information is not correct, true and fairly provided, the crypto market may suffer. The concept is good. I think the crypto market needs a dedicated program, but this can be dangerous if the information is not correct. Normally, this show should help many beginners, but we'll see what's going to happen.

Indeed, this endeavour is amazing. This is one of the greatest ways to promote awareness of cryptocurrency to the people. These days, a lot of people are really hooked up on their televisions. They spend a lot of time day and night watching shows. If this particular show proves to be interesting and can grab the attention of TV viewers, this could mean a whole lot. I just hope the people behind the show are knowledgeable enough about crypto and could express it to the audience in a creative and easy manner.

There is a movie titled Crypto with an initial release of april 12, 2019. And there is a series under development titled Cryptos.


We cannot say that yet. there is not much information about the series yet because it is still under development. It could be something positive about cryptocurrency.

There was a TV show"Start up" , talking about a new crypto which will fix a lot of problem and replace bitcoin.
It was overral a good show thought the new crypto part of their story is poor.

Hopefully this TV program can have a good effect on the world of cryptocurrency. Because this is one way to promote crypto in their way. but I don't know about the creators of this event, whether they discussed crypto or not.

This is a good idea. What the purpose bounty campaign through social media campaign, content youtube campaign article campaign for? I think this is a great initiative. I however foresee two big outcomes from this show; either it will promote btc because the show will expose the good part of crypto or it will scare people because they will discuss the demerits of crypto.

I think it is still in progress without any information available about it. We should not be that excited about it sonce it may disappoint us in the end. Though it is true that we should raise the knowledge of people about Bitcoin and about crypto currencies. There are these perceptions they have in it that is not really right. Recently, someone from the forum users also wrote that Netflix plans to make a documentary about Bitcoin. There will also have to be a feature film featuring Kurt Russell where the subject of cryptocurrency will be covered. All this should have a very positive impact on the spread of Bitcoin in the world. People will become more interested in cryptocurrency and will try to figure out how it works and why it was created. Now many investors who own cryptocurrency do not know much about it.
