Title: Analysis -DT Depth 2 view- Score distribution for those that are on a trust list Post by: DdmrDdmr on March 07, 2019, 01:03:08 PM 1. Introduction.
Back in November 2018 (see Analysis - DT Depth 2 - Profile Distribution (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5068614.msg47869448#msg47869448)), I took some time to take a look at how DT trust looked from an overall point of view. What I did then was retrieve all trust scores from a DT depth 2 point of view, and see how many forum members had what range of trust score based on this view. After all, DT depth 2 is the most common view most forum members, and it seemed interesting to see what they saw. Since then, the DT configuration has been shaken quite a bit, and it seemed interesting to perform a similar updated analysis. On this occasion though I will not analyse all user profiles (basically because I lack a complete recent full user profile DB scrape), but rather I’ll focus on those forum members that are included in at least one Custom Trust List (be that trust relation of Trust or Distrust). This gives us the view of those included in trust lists from a DT depth 2 viewpoint. The base considered is that of the 8.868 forum profiles included in a Customized Trust Network. Trust has 3 components (A: B /C), where: A is the Trust Score. B is the number of unique users who have given the profile negative feedback. C is the number of unique users who have given the profile positive feedback. I’ve included a complete list with all the underlying information here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SBM3pmp0wVSETROtFUynE6yFvBbtTUS-DwSJQcXTiN8/edit?usp=sharing Note that the trust scrore was scraped yesterday, and already today I can see changes in relation to the current DT Depth 2 scores. 2. Trust Score (A) - Distribution Trust Score (A) has the following distribution across those included in a Custom Trust List: https://i.imgur.com/jYhsbk3.png Things that stand out: a) 1.608 profiles have positive trust (18,13% of considered profiles), 1.428 have negative trust or unknown (16,10%), and the remaining 5.832 profiles have this value set to cero (65,77%). b) Positive trust is concentrated on Legendries (441), Hero Members (329), Sr. Members (298), Full Members (198), and Members (151) … and strangely enough Newbies (123). d) Negative or unknown Trust is concentrated on Sr.Members (309), Full Members (274) Newbies (263), Heroes (202), Legendries (186) and Members (150). e) There are 49 entries will a Null value, corresponding to profiles with the value ?? (unknown), a deliberate part of the Trust score algorithm. I also want to give a shout out to Smartypantsmint. In only a few months here on the forum he managed to catapult all the way to the top of the distrusted list, besting even Quickseller who has spent years gaining negative trust. Really amazing! Title: Re: Analysis -DT Depth 2 view- Score distribution for those that are on a trust list Post by: Quickseller on March 07, 2019, 06:00:24 PM Based on the high percentage of people with negative ratings, it doesn’t appear this goal has been met:
Quote major goal of this is to allow retaliatory distrusts and ratings to actually have some chance of mattering so that contentious ratings have an actual cost Based on the fact that the majority of people have no ratings at all (within DT), it appears many people are in DT who don’t participate in the marketplace. This begs the question as to why they are able to influence the marketplace. Title: Re: Analysis -DT Depth 2 view- Score distribution for those that are on a trust list Post by: nutildah on March 08, 2019, 06:34:12 PM I'm fascinated with members that have unusually low trust scores.
The story of magic max (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=650557) is an inspiring tale of how much one can accomplish with so little. In a spattering of 14 amazing posts written on 2 separate days, he managed to rack up 16 negative trusts, never to return. In his brief time at the forum, he: - requested a 0.1 BTC no-collateral loan (his first post, coming out of the gate hot) - wanted to exchange $300 in PayPal for 1 BTC, despite BTC being $330 at the time ("no escrow, no bs, you send first then i send") - started a "free escrow service (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1250594.msg12982972#msg12982972)" - framed another member of the forum using their BTC address as his own - requested 120 BTC in another loan - started a "Double Your Money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" investor-based game - tried to buy positive trust and trust list inclusions (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1260760.msg13052283#msg13052283) (managed to snag one, from a Newbie, for $3) - bid on a Full Member account - started his own loan service He was a real motivated go-getter, now part of history. Press F to pay respects. He was almost certainly a troll. The story of magic max (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=650557) is an inspiring tale of how much one can accomplish with so little. His attempt to frame another member would certainly point to that being the case. Nevertheless, it was an entertaining read. |
