Title: S9 Hashboard error: 2 boards=0 chip, 1 board=33 chips
Post by: KurtZZ on March 08, 2019, 12:12:17 AM
Hi all. My S9 miner don't work fine, it seems that J6/J8 hashboard couldn't be found any chips, and J7 hashboard could find 33 chips. I know it's better to replace the 34th chip for J7, but i don't think it worth to do it. I want to repair J6/J8 hashboard, i want know whether there are other solution to repair them except to replace 0th chips? The following is the kernel log. chances are, those boards have rested in peace,
but i have encountered a similar issue where one of the boards was showin 0 asic but i fixed that by flushing another firmware 'auto-tune'
refer to this topic and read through > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5034849.msg46000519#msg46000519

I used your recommended auto-feq firmware, but still found zero chips:-(

That board is toast.
Also, there is no way to know which chip is bad, just from the unreliable output of one version of firmware.

That is because they didnt get the answer they wanted...happens all the time. Well either that or they argue their position against all logic.

Or they could have gotten the answer, solved their problem , and never bothered saying thanks or leaving information for the next person, i always see this shit here, telegram, and FB. Only a few people would actually report back how was their problem solved even if they did it themselves.

I have a this problem with my miner hash board T9+ I lost some ASIC in chain, how can I find damage ASIC? my board did not have warranty ,so I am looking for a solution for repair them. I had to measure the clock frequency of chip to find a faulty chip, but I could not run board out of box the measurement is very difficult due to heat sink ,box and unavailable test point(under heat sink) :'( :'( :'( I know the connection between chip, I know a TX/RX signal go a chip and some signal(RST,CLK,CO,BO,RI) form this chip go next chip , and I thought the chip with tx/rx signal is first ASIC and next chip is second ASIC ,..... But it seems that I was wrong :'( :'( :'( please Guide me how can I find damage ASIC in t9+ hash board ? :-[ :-[ :-[
I hope to give your reply.

You may need some advanced/special tools to be able to detect all dead ASIC chips and you also need hotair/blower to be able to remove the heat sink and chips. I tried to search through youtube and I found a video and it shows how to troubleshoot and find the dead ASIC chips let me share it to you here https://youtu.be/Qh3pgPxieGg and check this one https://youtu.be/4XMDyylLhVw
Hope it helps.

the measurement is very difficult due to heat sink ,box and unavailable test point(under heat sink) :'( :'( :'(
You could try taking your multimeter and attaching needles to your test probes so that you can reach the test points without having to remove heatsinks just to be able to test the chips.
