It seems to me that this is some kind of fraud with merit. He's either selling merits, exchanging them for favours, or trying to beef up his alt accounts.

Not very sure why they choose a post like that to get merited. It looks weird because these strategies is not really effective to conceal his tracks. It's also possible he got hacked, not only his bitcointalk account but also his email (chance is slim but not impossible).
