Bitcoin Forum

Since last year many members have published outstanding statistics and scraped data. Some of them are already forgotten so I thought of a complete list linking them all. The time spent for presenting the data by the creators is worth a place to list it in my opinion even if some of them may be outdated.

The list is sorted by category (Merit / Trust / User stats / other) and in the table I’ve added author, topic, section and date when it was published. To underline the best statistics, I’ve added also the sum of received Merit for each topic. Sometimes the Merit score is a little bit inaccurate compared to the quality of the content (undermerited / overmerited) but it should give a general impression. And I’ve marked active (regularly updated) topics.

I did not list infographics, too small statistics and low-quality content.

I'm sure I've forgotten some statistics when I was going through so many pages. If you know about statistics still missing here, I'll add them. And if there is something wrong you can also mention it in the comments. :)
New topics will be listed after they have been published for more than 5 days, feel free to post them here so it will be easier for me to notice it.

Yeah, I thought about exact Merit counts when I was doing the list but the Merit count will vary all the time when people send Merit and I would be udpating the whole time. I think approximated Merit counts are fine to get an impression about the scale and quality of topics. Originally, I planned to add a number from 1 to 10 to evaluate them but I rejected the idea because I think my opinion wouldn't be appropriate to judge the quality.
I addition, the list is about Merit received in OP + replies, where I was planning to list Merits for OP only. Maybe I can set a fix Merit count for topics older than 6 Months (big changes of their Merit count are rather unlikely)


Ok, I will change it to LoyceV's Trust list viewer.  ;)
But maybe people will start to use it as Saturday morning newspaper if the name stays the same.  :P

I frequently visit those threads when I need some data and statistic related to bitcointak forum.
Gathering them together will make it easier for me since it is impossible to remember all threads titles and I use different devices so bookmarking them doesn't help.

Many members publish their own interesting statistics, but some of them do not update the data. In my opinion, it should be noted whether the thread which is included to your lists is updated regularly or not.


I see 6 of my threads on your lists but half year ago I also published these statistics:

Yes, I divided the Merit and User stats part into 2018 and 2019 because especially for Merit the list will get messy when people are publishing new stats all the time. Instead of a wall of text it's better to have it restructured and divided now.

Maybe I will add more description for my topic.
At first, I wrote it shortly without detailed explanation on interquartile range and median, because those terms mentioned in my merit analysis for moths.
So, with this one, I splited it from my old topic, and simply focused on observation of the interquartile range and median changes over weeks.

In short, again, interquartile range represents for 50% of observed data points.
For instance, if you have 100 data points (100 days over weeks), the interquartile range will represents for 50 datapoints in the 'middle range', that ranges from the 25th quartile to the 75th quartile. Interquartile range has its role to exclude outliers, such as maximum, minimum and some extreme large and small data points closely with max and min.
In the same way, median represents nearly the true mean (average) of observed data. It is better than what we usually use, mean or average.
Both median and interquartile range exclude effects from outliers.
I hope that the post help you have clearer understanding on my topic's objectives.  :P

Ok, I think I got it now but I don't know if it's a strong or useful indicator of sent Merit. However, maybe we can see a pattern or a relation if there is a longer period of time involved.  :)

Holy cow!  I don't know how I happened to miss this thread when it got made, but apparently I did.  I didn't give any merits for the original post, so I gave OP some merits for the last one here, which is also interesting.

It's amazing how many threads there have been about merits and the merit system in the almost two years it's been around, and it's also hard to believe it has been around that long.  I very vividly remember waking up with the flu at the end of January 2018 and being baffled at all the threads in Meta discussing this new thing, the merit system.  My head was very much not clear at the time, as I had a high fever and was almost delirious.  It took me a while to figure out what it was all about and even longer to realize just how valuable those merits were going to be for members here.

A belated thank you to OP for creating this thread.  Very useful as a reference for all the threads about important Meta issues.

Hey 1miau! Do you think these two topics of mine would fit to your "Interesting compilation" section?

Yes, it took a while to search and list every topic but after all it's done and we have a list of historical stats now.

I don't know whether my thread [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5231446.msg53993163#msg53993163) qualifies to be part of your list, but here it is.

Based on data from Bitcointalk Merit Dashboard (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4428616.0), each month I compare local boards via easily understandable charts in regards to post and merit activity. If I remember correctly it was shared few times in German board (and few others) as well so I hope it is useful enough to find it's place on your list.

Of course, it qualifies. I've included it in my list:
