Title: Can we delete posts before 24 hours in goods again please?
Post by: TECSHARE on March 18, 2019, 07:16:48 AM
I know this was probably put in place to stop people from abusively bumping threads and then deleting the post to re-bump, but can we maybe remove the limits for hero and above or something? Occasionally I will mistakenly make a post or want to delete an old bump for example if some one replies after just so I don't have to remember to delete it later.

The overly aggressive bumping seems to be mostly a new user issue as far as I can tell, so it seems it would have minimal negative impact to allow ranked up users to do so. Maybe there is some other reason it was put in place and I am just missing it. Anyone else have opinions?

The only reason this was implemented was to avoid multiple bumps in a day. It surely looks shaddy and a person would always be on top of the list if he bumps his thread 100 times a day.

But yaa, it's a newbie issue for sure and any higher level account would not abuse the option like wise. I think there should be a feature for just higer rank members like Sr.Member + could use this feature only.

I ran into the same problem recently, but it doesn't happen often. Spammers/bumpers have also used higher ranking accounts, many of those were farmed in the past, so I vote to keep this as is.

Maybe auto delete? Since you wanted to delete it and instead of having the warning that you cannot delete your post and need to wait for 24 hours, why not "It will be deleted in 24 hours" and the user cannot post there anymore until it has been deleted. Maybe something along those lines.

They also have something to lose... noobs not so much. I agree the bump spam is not acceptable but some kind of middle ground here would be useful.

Here is a thread where Senior Member was spotted bumping bounty threads with his alt- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5043280.msg46476982#msg46476982
He later got banned but I can't find any modlog in bpip of his alt. I am sure whitetoo(Can't remember the exact username) was also his alt which was hero rank maybe, and got banned too.

People do it more often. As LoyceV said, a lot of people farmed huge accounts back in the day and they can also bump with those accounts. Rank can't prevent it.
