Title: Do you need cash for everyday use?
Post by: igorc on March 19, 2019, 08:28:22 AM
We are working on Golden Currency project ( https://goldencurrency.money ), where we issue money that is available both in crypto and in cash form. We find the possibility to use crypto money in cash form as one of advantages. We expect that almost everybody anyway uses cash and in such a case the lack of such opportunity limits the potential use of currency. That's why we started the poll to prove it. Would be glad for your votes and comments regarding your view on such an option.

Live without fiat?
Obviously, for now, it's not possible as mass adoption of cryptocurrency is still in the early stage.
But as time proceeds day by day many will be thinking about accepting cryptocurrency as payment for their business and services by which will be the reason us to live without fiat and start living using cryptocurrency to get our needs.

I pay for most (but not all!) of the things I need with card. But even if one of my cards is Wirex crypto card (which lately I don't use much since Bitcoin is at 3000-4000) the payment is with fiat.
The only places where I could pay directly with Bitcoin in my city was at a few online shops.

Maybe you should make it a little clearer what you want to find out with your poll...

For now in my country no physical store accepts bitcoin as a payments option officially, although few smaller shops own by cryptocurrency enthusiast do accept bitcoin and some other altcoin as a payment option. When it comes to online transaction I rarely use fiat related service providers, the only time I use fiat currency is when I'm dealing with banking  transactions. In shopping online, I only used cryptocurrency related service providers. so I would say for my everything activities, I still use cash (but will love to stop if the opportunity presents itself) and when it comes to online transaction I don't use cash (fiat)

Can you really use only cryptocurrencies or fiat without cash form in everyday life?

As of now, no country in the world is cryptocurrency dependent or even a person likewise. There is still a lot of daily necessity that is being paid by cash. Like myself, the store from where I live only accept cash as a source of payment method and doesn't accept credit card and other payment methods.

I dont think the society are ready to live without cash, not all people are aware of technology and want to used crypto or cashless payment, and then the infrastructure of the country's also not adequate yet, in the future I believe we can get rid of cash, but not for now, we still rely on cash because its easier to spend, not all place are ready accepting cashless payment yet

I usually pay with my card simply because it gives some small amount of cashback but I'm always trying to have some good amount of paper fiat (some of my savings are even in different currencies and also in fiat) since my friend got his bank account blocked after selling 300$ worth of BTC.
The account was unfreezed pretty fast but if all your money will get blocked then it definitely will be painful for you. No matter how long would it last.

Indeed, we cannot live without cash in our everyday lives.  We need this fiat for everyday expenses like transportation, foods especially when we are buying at the local wet market.  Eventhough crypto-enthusiast people are trying hard to spread the usage of cryptocurrency,  ordinary people are not yet ready especially merchants to implement cryptopayment since they still have doubts regarding this system and worst, they are actually ignorant about cryptocurrency.

Cryptocurrency cannot be used as a means of full transaction in the daily life that I live in. I cannot escape completely from using the FIAT currency to use cryptocurrencies.

Looks like you don't even know what fiat means, since you are asking if you can use it for everyday life. Basically cash can be qualified as fiat money and you can obviously use it to buy everything you need in your life. We we talk about cryptocurrencies, I don't think you can live only by using it for payments unless you are using a service that offers you a card for payments but this doesn't suit your question anymore since you are still using fiat for payments even though you are paying with your bitcoins.

This is possible after how many years. Through the adoption of cryptocurrency now it will affect the way of living in the future. My prediction is on 2100 to 2500 years. Time passes by and the use of technology is becoming better that really affects of living or make the life activities effortless.

It really depends which country you are living in. Some countries as still using mostly cash, like taxis, public transport etc. Some countries like i Scandinavia are well in digital form of currency already and there most of the people are already living without cash.

Earlier we don't have much access to digital payments. By that time cash was much preferred everywhere. Now even in small stores digital payments were accepted. This gives access to go with digital payments in most of the needs. Still it doesn't mean cash usage has decreased.

This kind of shows what type of payments are still used in many parts of the world. I do kind of use cash, not too much but a bit and I really need it. Someone as anti-bank as me who has either cash or bitcoin needs the banks just for my debit card which is basically cash but in the bank because I need the bank for cashing out my bitcoins to fiat, doing that with cash is hard but doing that with a bank account is quite easy.

So after all, its not a shock that people who like bitcoins also prefer to use cash because its mostly untraceable and it can be used anywhere you go and you do not need to explain where you got it whereas if you have money on bank you need to almost always be traceable and the fact that where your money came from or where you spend being constantly on their radar is scary.

We are in 2019 mate so until 2100 there are 81 years left. Do you really think it would take that much in order for people to stop using cash? Think about debit cards, the appeared in 1996 and it took about 50 years to gain 2 billion users. Until 2100 everyone on this planet will own a debit/credit cards and cash will most likely disappear because technology will be so advanced and everything will become digital.

I don't use cryptocurrency for the purchases. In my country, it is not legal to do so. But, for everyday use, I mostly use cards and paytm. It helps me to get some nice offers and cashbacks. Recently, government stated that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are not considered as legal tender and we can't use it for purchase of goods. But, trading is allowed.

it is impossible to only use "cryptocurrencies" because most of them are very unreliable and nobody even has heard of 90% of their names. we only have bitcoin option which is the only reliable one and that only lacks adoption. but to answer your question, it is impossible to live without cash despite all the "digitalization" of money that has happened over the past few years.

For the current state of my country, i cannot use cryptocurrency almost all of the time. We still dont have any technology that can support a fully non fiat payment system although we are a free country that can use cryptocurrency as we want. The least we can do now is to buy load and pay bills using crypto through an app.

Well let's take the fact that cryptocurrency is now known around the world and some are accepting it as a mode of payment even though it was a risky decision but most of the time we can't use the cryptocurrency in our daily basis a good example is travelling most of the travelling companies and public utility transportation is not accepting cryptocurrency as well as the grocery stores/general stores. Isn't? but you can make a fast transaction through cryptocurrency just like buying online, avail for some kind of services etc.

So to answer your question... It's a yes, I use cash a lot in daily basis and cryptocurrency for online transactions.

In grown countries we can see people using digital payments than hard cash. The same cannot be seen all around the world. In reality people from third world countries prefer hard cash for their needs than digital payments. When we take cryptocurrency into digital payments, we're far from usage. It needs to travel long, at present the usage level of bitcoin around is very low in comparison to fiat.

Most of the purchases and transactions I make everyday are done by cash, the rest: coffee, sandwich and other mini items that I need to acquire quickly are done through digital payments (debit cards mostly). I still find cash convenient in some cases, especially in the public marketplace where only a handful are accepting digital payments since the market is for the townspeople and commoners like me. But if I am given the chance to pay using crypto or through my debit card, I'd go for those options as they are pretty convenient and transactions are processed almost instantly without having to wait for change, especially in the mornings.

I currently live in the Philippines, btw, if you're going to ask.

We do all prefer to have a convenient living and i cant really see the reason why would people dont need cash on everyday use.We have been using this system since we are born or the time we do
already make transactions on our own either on physical money to digital transactions. It isnt really bad to consider about crypto payments but these system do have still long way to go or
i dont really believe that it can vanish cash.

There is a bigger debate coming for this fiat vs cryptocurrency whether we have to use fiat or crypto but the answer is not yet certain since most of these countries don't recognize cryptocurrency as a legit digital asset. That's why we have to use both fiat and cryptocurrency in a way that the shops accept it but most of us tend to use cash since there is a limitation of using crypto in every place.

Not for each country, for every county! In one country you have capitol city that is more advanced than some surrounding county. In capitol city you have more of everything, in some village you can have couple stores and they accept just cash. There are big countries, but not every part of the country is developed the same, if you get me. I`m from south Europe, but my country is not in EU. I use credit cards a lot, but for example nearest store to my home doesn`t accept credit cards, I need to use cash, still.

Yes some country are now accepting digital money as payment like in my country you can use bitcoin as mode of payment in buying load, gasoline and payment in expenses.
But having fiat is important for daily basis not all are accepting digital money especially if you only buy a small amount.

I think we can if we are full stock in our home, so we don't need to buy something. But it's almost impossible because if we are lived in the big city, we really need cash to buy something even if it just 1 cent. But if we can use crypto and there are many available offline stores in around us, I think we don't need to cash because we can directly use that crypto to buy whatever we want.

as long as the mass adoption of cryptos isnt done, you have no chance to live without cash. we have a long way to go, thank god so many companies are developing and moving the crypto adoption forward.  8) i'm excited what the next years will bring. i guess some countries are full of crypto acceptance and some others are still on the same level as before.

If by 'cash' you mean paper money and coins, then yes I use mostly cash.  If I don't have cash on hand, then I use a debit card and have not yet used my phone to pay for anything.  Just as an aside, I've been in blackout situations where there's no power in stores and they can't take any electronic payments, and those experiences have taught me to always keep some cash around.  You just never know when that's going to occur, and it's happened to me enough times that I'm expecting at least one more blackout in my lifetime.

As far as alternative payments go, I've used bitcoin for online items when I've been out of money but I don't like to spend it and think of it more as an investment than a currency.  I'm not sure if making something physical out of such a thing would increase adoption or not, and in fact I don't think it would.  People are more than happy to use fiat.

Yes, in fact, we still have to use cash as a legitimate transaction tool in various countries. but it depends on the needs. Sometimes digital money is also needed if the transaction is in large amounts considering the risk when bringing large amounts of cash.

Although crypto is developing quite well, it is not yet time for electronic money to be put into liquidity. It takes a long time for people to understand more about crypto and then there will be users to it.
crypto and blockchain have a huge knowledge base and require its users to understand it a lot.

Fiat is the most important of all transaction tools because it has been used for a long time so that to go to a new step it is very difficult to require consideration and arrangement of each field, it is not easy to change the system all but can happen with a very long time, I don't think fiat will be replaced with crypto, the most contrasting is that when fiat and crypto go together with each other through their respective shortcomings, most people around the world use fiat as a legitimate payment tool.

Good idea is behind this project. I haven't heard for similar so far.
I do use cash and I use it a lot. I am getting paid for my work in cash and that is, in my opinion, most important thing, when we discuss about currency usage. I don't give a damn how I am going to pay some product that I am purchasing. If my firm have a policy to pay salary to her employees in bitcoin for example, I would be paying everything in bitcoin. I don't want to buy some coin so I could buy everything else. Very unnecessary.

Of course, we need cash for everyday use because we still depend on cash to buy something. But in some country, the cash was change, and it becomes a card and some of the company trying to use apps in their Android phone to buy something. I think in the future, we will see that the used of cash will slowly change into the digital payment and it already happened in a few years ago, and now the technology still grow, and we will see the new era of digital payment will change our life.

I think you are right we still need cash, we can't replace this to cashless because there are some circumstances that we might need cash.
Some times I used cash but it is not daily, occasionally I used cash when I have somewhere to go. I am a commuter I don't have a car to ride and I need cash as a fare. But when it comes daily need like foods and personal use I used my credit card.

Yes, we still really need cash. As we all know, if the current adoption of digital currency or Bitcoin is still not comprehensive, because it can be said that currently the use of digital currencies is still in its infancy, it is still not affordable for all levels of society in each country.

Crypto could be used only where the government has made it legal so that more and more merchants would be using it as a payment method and people could survive their normal day for few days on crypto itself. But rest of the country it would be highly doubtful if people can use it.

I use cash here in central Europe country quite often
There is many small shops what accept cash only
I can buy food and other products directly from producent on bazaar but only with cash
It is also better to have some cash in pocket because  there are problems with banks mostly in weekend.Transactions by cards are not working often

for purchasing needs in a small shop, and sometimes only with a small amount, I always use cash. if it's possible to pay for crypto, I think it's easier.
maybe there is no more money in our pocket, or atleast only on small amount.cryptocurrency adoption will be very usefull for us someday.maybe it can make crime decrease alot.

Crypto could be used only where the government has made it legal so that more and more merchants would be using it as a payment method and people could survive their normal day for few days on crypto itself. But rest of the country it would be highly doubtful if people can use it.

I wouldn't believe anyone if they're living entirely off of crypto transactions. I mean, of course we need cash in everyday use. And even if i have both cash and crypto in hand to use in a transaction, i'd still use cash first unless it's completely necessary to spend my crypto.

Would be glad for your votes and comments regarding your view on such an option.
I almost use digital online transactions for payments; I can’t remember the last time I held money in form of cash. Almost every vendor accepts transfer as a form of payment and even most religious houses of worship now receive money in form of transfer. So, I can literally stay for days without holding cash. I use my card for all transfer.

The only time I need cash mostly is when I need to take public transport because they don’t accept transfer but if I was left to drive all through, I would still not need cash because even the fuel station accepts debit card.

For now is yes, cash is very necessary even though technological developments and digitalization continue to grow at this time, because to switch completely into the digital era requires a long time for all people to understand it, we cannot equalize everyone has a smartphone capable of scanning barcodes on their smartphone for payment. Even so, I am also convinced that in this ever-growing digital era, it is very possible in the future that cash will no longer be widely used in transactions, anyway digital payments are much safer and more practical.

Although today there are many payment services in the form of digital but cash is still a much-needed payment for now because not everyone can receive digital payments and not everyone understands the technology so they still use a payment system that I think is too old.

I don't like cash very much but I have to adnit that I still can't avoid it. There are still some services in my country that I use and that still can be paid with cash only.
I don't think that cash will ever completely disappear. Although we are heading towards cashless society and credit cards and cryptocurrencies are playing more and more important role in our lives many people still can't give up cash. Some don't like to leave traces how they spend their money and some don't trust digital currencies.

Already changed.

Before it was all cash. The good thing about paying in cash is they are giving a large percentage of discounts when paying directly.
I dont use credit cards but just debit card since my salary goes there directly. I hate banks but I dont have much of a choice.

But the 2018 year changed everything. Almost every bill is paid in an application with my cryptocurrency. Not much of a hassle waiting for lines that are packed with people.

I try to use my cards as much as I can. So I don't have cash in my pocket that will end in stupid 1-2-5-10 cents coins which I hate to use. For something less than 10€ I pay in cash otherwise, it's the card

There are plenty of things you can't pay with a card because the amount is too small, usually, merchants here refuse when it's less than 10€. With Bitcoin, it wouldn't be

Why should a crypto user come to your service When they can securely have every transaction with blockchain? Now a days, merchants started accepting bitcoin on purchase done with them. So love to hear why i should come to you.

It will never be a "tradition", we are already used to that.

Being used and that being a tradition is different. It will never be a tradition it is just that we are used paying with cash. There are no countries looking at paying in cash as a tradition. I think if you say that you rarely pay using non-cash methods then I guess you are from a province of a third world country. I am too and the existence of cryptocurrencies is not that famous to most of the people here.

I agree with you, the use of cash is not a tradition, because it is regulated by the state and must be obeyed by its citizens. so wherever it is used, someone else must accept it. you can imagine if all countries have legalized crypto, of course we can also use it freely

Absolutely yes, Me and my wife owned a small business printing documents, stickers, t-shirts prints, motor and vehicle decals and anything related to printing. Everyday we encounter so many consumers and even a single one never had any payments of cashless and the likes. Maybe 90% of our city's population do not still know about bitcoin and any other cyrpto currencies. I wanna change this thing, step by step I will make large QR scanner in order for them to wonder- receiving payments at my shop will be available soon and hope it will attract them.

It would have really been nice if we all live in a cashless society but that will be impossible for now due to so many factors and one of the factors is literacy, when you look deep into some parts of the world, the number of illiteracy there is still quite high, how the do you introduce such technology as cryptocurrency to them, and you that is educated enough will have to deal with them in one way or the other everyday of your life, most of them have what you need for your daily life and will only accept fiat as form of tender, so we really can’t do without cash except all purchases and transaction will be done strictly online, which is quite impossible, so yes, I still need cash, so kindly go on with your project.

It's technically possible to give cash money up, possible to throw it in to the dumpster of history.
I think it is a wet dream of the biggest banks in the world. We can see how cashless society model is being promoted in the mainstream media. This means we as a society, have achieved sufficient technology to implement such model. Question is do we really like to do it?
Or should we do it? Premise is as always, security and ease of use but the other side of this coin is far more important. The control over regular, physical money would be, in fact lost. People would no longer have anything to say when it comes to money creation.
For quite some time, it is no longer necessary to have cash in my country in order to survive. Most of the shops have very small limits for using plastic, limits so small that it safe to assume they are non existent. System is ready to be cashless, it is pushing itself on us. IMO we should be in opposition for our own sake.

We still need cash in terms of paying since let's be honest, not all of the countries can legalize and support Bitcoin that quickly. Changes and developments take time and it is the same for the people to get their trust. Not all of the people in a country that legalized Bitcoin will use it as a payment method that quickly since the first reason is that it is a crypto currency and with a lot of news about people getting scammed because of it even though we already know it is not Bitcoin's fault, they will still get scared. Other reasons? I think lack of information, technology, and knowledge.

Currently there is no way to stick only in cryptocurrencies, as we all know the adoption of using cryptos for payment in goods and services are not quite thus its still necessary to have cash.

As of now we cant live without cash, here in our place only few people knew about the existence of crypto. I think its because they are not much updated in the current happenings in the internet and they're just relying on what they watched in tv.

Maybe in the future we can see the progress of how cryptocurrencies influence people especially merchants to use crypto as means of payment.

I can do my daily expenses with card only. I've started to use card move often when contactless payment systems came out.

Why you cash, when almost every time you get change (and if you pay often, by the end of the week you will have a small sack of coins). Moreover you have to do the calculations every time. Count your cash, count the best combination to get less change and etc. When you can just  put your card to a machine, make a beep and be free.

I always use cash when doing transaction offline but I consider cryptocurrency in the near future to use for payment in everything online. I guess it is more convenient than using credit card because credit card will only make you buried in debt if you have limited resources to pay your debt. However, There is still a need for mass adoption of cryptocurrency to enjoy and see cashless society.

It is actually lot easier using crypto currency as payment because it’s faster and safer. One does not have to go through the stress of visiting bank to deposit money into the credit card if we are to go by the option of POS or visiting ATM/ Bank if the option we have is to hold cash to pay for such item.

The stress involved in even opening an account alone is something very discouraging, lots of verification, proof in saving money and depositing money. Though cash will still be useful in some cases where you are having such transaction with someone who has no knowledge of POS payment talk less of cryptocurrency.

Yes, I use cash in every area of our lives and every second. This applies only to all people who do not apply to me. Nowadays, cash money has become so strong in our lives that I do not believe that no one claims to use cash. Everybody is definitely using cash a few times, not once in a day. For example, as an individual example, I use cash in almost every area of my life and on a daily basis. Especially because of my job, I cannot deny that the use of cash money has become an important part of my life.

Not even Bitcoin can be accepted offline not to talk of any other currency that is an altcoin. Majority prefers fiat and even those of them you see here hyping crypto are still livers if fiat and they are just here for the fact they think they can make money. None of them can go a day without using cash.

There are a lot of barriers you need to break if you are implementing a cash-less society wherein we utilize cryptocurrency as the main medium of exchange. Remember that due to economic discrepancies between developed and underdeveloped countries, people in the latter do not have equal access to such. In addition, being a volatile currency can have detrimental effects in the economy.

For now, cash would always be the universal medium of exchange among people. Having a universal medium which its value being backed depending upon the gold reserves, this prevents inflation from happening.

I do use cash on a daily basis. The majority of us do. The poll clearly says that. But even so, I am not sure whether the people here will agree with your plan. I have reservations as to your plans. Yes, we are using cash. But it is because it is the current mainstream mode of payment. We have no choice but to use what the majority of the people and businesses use. We want that wiped out actually and replaced with digital currency. However, it will take time. And so we have to use cash alongside crypto for the meantime.

Everyone need cash (fiat money) to spend on everyday expenses, and the crypto currencies has been only tradeable at the moment not payable at my country just like most of the other places.I really don't want to spend cryptos by now since I believe the price could be very huge in next 5 years.

certainly because in my country there are still few who know cryptocurrencies so that many people use paper currency instead of using cryptocurrencies for payment instruments
I think most countries are using cash every day, from buying goods to the smallest payments, everyone uses cash, very few people use other payment methods because this is the fastest and most direct method for people to trade with each other, they don't need too much time to wait for confirmation. Cash has been an indispensable part of everyday life, even when other payment methods become popular and better, people will still maintain cash use, nothing can replace

It will really take time before people will be able to use fully Bitcoin in our country. Not all of the people here can use the technology available here. Another thing is that we are living in a province and those technologies are not that developed. Crypto currency are still new in our country and even if the government legalized the use of it, some still use it maybe because of the fact that a lot of people are scammed and Bitcoin is the one being blamed for that.

In fact if cash is used a lot, because most economies are based on it, it is very difficult to adopt positions where it is replaced by cryptographic money.

According to the economist Jose Toro Hardi, the cash is much more solid and has enough support, both in governments and in banking, however for the traditional economy the money in Crypto represents a lot of risk due to the high volatility, for not having a high liquidity support as the cash has.

Personally, I think the best thing is to use both ways to boost the economy, since the transactions in Crypto are fast and safe, totally incorruptible but the FIAT money is also very necessary.

Without cash we cannot do anything against in this world so the country is depend upon the money and the situation of market so the digital currencies are developing little by little when it comes to filled with 100% trust then only people will made them life without the normal cash.
I don’t know how those who live in a cashless world cope with it, like how do they live their lives on transfers always. I can’t deal, maybe I’ll get used to it when I find myself in a developed country where they have pure cashless policy. But, for now I do basically everything with cash. There are few times I do transfers using debit card but it’s more of cash transactions.

Vendors that sell items less than $10 will not even accept transfer and even transport systems, and this are the major areas I spend money.

It happens that I live one full month using cash only, and I'll live this way forever. I won't use my cards nor BTC simply because I don't want my payments to be recorded anywhere. It would be just stupid to store in a blockchain, or a database anywhere, all my payments at grocery stores.

So you people need to spread awareness about crypto currency as those who are using it having benefit and earning better as compare to the one who only use money and buy goods, it is very important act you can do for your nation as time passing we are getting into digital age so better make people aware and tell them about uncountable advantages of crypto currency.

Money has evolved over the years, we are almost getting to the era where the cashless system is taking over the world of finances. As technology advances, we would surely get to the point where people would appreciate the digital era of money spending so gradually fiat currency would fade out.

There are some developed countries that they have already established electronic systems for payments because there want to vanish cash for better expenditure controlling.

Actually YES,I used crypto then convert into fiat..because cryptocurrency like bitcoin is not acceptable for all..in short bitcoin is not popular to used.... Unlike cash we used it even a small thing..bitcoin is good but no cash,is a worst thing.:)

Yeah truth! Even the people lives far from the city which is no electric supply... They don't know what is blockchain.or digital money.. What happen to them if ever no fiat at all?:) pity ..:( :( :(

Practically and realistically speaking, it's indeed needed for me to use cash everyday. Given the fact that Fiat is still primary way or source of payment system used by the majority. Especially for personal use, though, there are time that I maximized the used of my Bitcoin by paying Bills especially when I have no time to go to a nearby Bill payment center. Though for the meantime that's the only time when I used my Bitcoin, but, Most likely I wouldn't want to limit it there.

I understood your project but my doubt is, how you are going to deal with the regulation when it comes to paper currency and i am not sure any country will allow someone to distribute a paper currency to trade which is not backed by any government, it is true that cash or change is needed for every day use but we will use card in major shopping centers and not on local shops all the time.

Life without cash is impossible for now because some people are not yet aware of the crypto world. Cash will still be the primary payment tool to meet daily needs. Fiat is the most use money for me. It's the traditional way of living in my country, and this is the most famous payment in here. Although my country has GCASH and Paymaya, I'm more fond in using fiat money than that. Since, buying something with fiat does not need fee to transact. With GCASH and Paymaya, I need at least .5 dollar to pay for the items.

I've checked your website a little.

You'll issue paper money? I see no use for that and the governments may not like the idea. That field is their monopoly.
Your coin price will be pegged to gold price and you'll hold gold for that? You'll need audits for that and you'll have to build up trust. It's a tough job, but can be done. And you need it badly, because somehow the "gold backed" ICO projects tend to end up as scams (except one, I think).

You wanted my opinion and you won't like it.
Imho you don't bring anything new which is useful. The only "new" thing you bring is that paper money. Good luck getting merchants accept that.

What we need is getting the merchants accept crypto as payment, either by wallet-to-wallet payments, either via payment processors that accept crypto.

Liked or not no matter how far we are in this technological era, still many use more cash then paying with plastic. We have some countries that have limited or massively reduce usage of cash in the world but for global change that gonna be hard. But let start with some basic, why we need cash. First you never know for what you will have to use it. Next maybe that or this store dont accept credit card. If you are on holiday you need cash. If you have cash in wallet you (on my example) will spend less money, on card I dont know when to stop. And for last paying in cash you will not leave any data, with card you need to.

We have good and bad sides on both. For example cash can be lost or destroyed. You won’t get it back, such as purchase protection, that you get with some credit cards. Conclusion for this is to make some good solution for using cash and card, mainly use cash for one thing and card for another.

No one can live without cash, you cant buy food, clothes, and etc just using bitcoin. Were not in full modern technology to forget about cash, remember there are people who still not globalize by the world. Even cellphone dont know how to use, were still at the middle of modern and old generation. Fiat currency is still useable than crypto money. Think of it, i guess even million of years come by, cash is always exist. How could people live just using virtual money. Buy on the market through sending coins, too far to believe right now

Everywhere people use cash in a large scale than other forms of non cash payments. As of now in my locality we don't have stores with cryptocurrency as alternate to cash. I prefer card usage, because when I cash out and use direct cash I'm using more on unwanted things. To limit the same I've been using debit/credit cards for most of the everyday use.

The large part of the world is still using cash and plastic cards. Anyway, the economy and money are readable with numbers, statistics tools. Money is printed paper with numbers that connected to the bank account with serial numbers. So many gaps in the traditional banking system force us to make a new revolution with alternatives. Crypto ecosystem is real alternative but unfilled gaps in crypto transactions can cause bigger problems than the cash system.

Good for economy is always good, also there are those who ban in for good. Do you think they economy is weak or they are afraid of something. My guess is that they are afraid of something that is so good and on top of this they cannot control it at all. But again its smaller number of countries that have done this and also its small that ban it. Large number are those who dont know what to do.

Of course I do. I prefer using cash than credit cards. There are a lot of people who depend too much in visa/credit card but I don't. I prefer using cash, this way I can control my expenses. A lot of people are being buried in debts by using their cards because they don't feel the loss as they spend because they are not seeing it. unlike cash, if you have it in your wallet, you know exactly how much you have and you will be able to manage your expenses.

We don't need cash as long as card payments are accepted and they are. I don't use cash. I carry some with me but I almost never pay. I just have it in case the terminal at a store or a restaurant doesn't work.

Even in developed countried where they use digital transactions a lot, you still can't take away the importance of cash. You can't find credit card terminals on the streets for small things you have to buy. So the answer to the question is obviously yes and i think that applies to almost all of us.

I know that the Singaporean company Tangem tried to combine cryptocurrency and cash by issuing its 0.01 and 0.05 bitcoin bills. However, in practice it was quite difficult. Trying to do this will always be and it deserves attention and approval. In the future, the cryptocurrency and cash of the states will inevitably go together inevitably and their joint forms of existence are inevitable, if at all possible.

indeed some countries have provided legality to the use of cryptocurrency and many places such as restaurants or shops that can accept payments using cryptocurrency, but there are still some countries that cannot accept payments using cryptocurrency so that payments currently using cryptocurrency are still not fully applicable in all countries.

Ultimate stuff? What does that even supposed to mean? Money is the "ultimate stuff", the way you put it, even in the past time. Without money, you don't have the power and the freedom to buy anything that you want. Especially today that technology plays a big role in our lives. We need money in order to survive, some say that we don't need money but time is changing and the future is leading to more developed technology and money will play a big role to it.

I cannot completely remove the cash function for my daily needs, even though there is already a modern technology in the form of digital currency (Bitcoin) because every country has a habit of how to transact, in my country cryptocurrency cannot be known to the public so it cannot be use to make real transactions for daily needs
Yes, there are still many countries that have not used payments using Bitcoin, so they really need Fiat money in their daily lives, for example in my country, Indonesia, which still has no payment using Bitcoin in all stores.

I prefer to use cash. Because when i use credit card or debit card it is hard for me to realize how much i spent that day. And it is kinda dangerous for me.

Well, I still need it, maybe digital payments have occurred in developed countries where cash is no longer used too much for transactions, but for new things like my country, it still takes time to change systems that previously existed.

Even in developed countried where they use digital transactions a lot, you still can't take away the importance of cash. You can't find credit card terminals on the streets for small things you have to buy. So the answer to the question is obviously yes and i think that applies to almost all of us.
Agree, we have not yet entered the era of fully digital, there are still some areas in developed countries that are still not covered by credit cards or other forms of online payment, for now we still need cash, especially in developing countries

indeed until now the cash is inseparable from our daily lives. because our daily activities certainly use cash as a means of payment for an item that we have bought. so we can't avoid cash until now.

The day is not so far when everyone will use only digital currency, it is need of the day because we are living busy life, to be honest since long I was waiting for the day where I could get the chance to pay for my expenses without cash, now I don’t need any cash and I can pay my bills, my school fee, I can shop online with crypto so no need to carry the Burdon of cash in my pocket.

I am currently residing in India and it will be quite impossible to get by if you don't want to use physical cash. But mobile wallets are getting very popular now. Even auto-rickshaws and street food stalls are now accepting mobile wallets such as PayTM and PhonPe. But I prefer to use physical cash while making smaller payments (such as $0.2 or $0.5).

Definitely. Here in my country, cryptocurrency adoption keeps on rising but that does not mean that we are now using crypto for our daily needs though we can use it to buy or pay goods and services online offered by some local  and international merchants. Fiat is still the usual mode of usage too hard to tell if when we will be totally using crypto as mode of payment for daily basis. One reason people think twice using crypto is it's volatility.

Yes, I use cash most of the time. Not for shopping but for eating out and buying the odd drink in shops. There are still plenty of places around me that don't take cards.

Instead of cash being 'banned' there'll come a time where most businesses will reject it because of the unwanted hassle. I'll be intrigued to see what the cash heavy businesses do in that scenario.

Even now most of the businesses have got digital payment acceptance as well direct cash acceptance. When this goes as most businesses just accepting cards the usage of cash will decrease, but such scenario won't prevail as there will be some number of people who at any instance won't go using digital payments.

The cashless payment doesn't mean the cryptocurrency alone, it also includes the common payments through cards and other form of using e-wallets for everyday use. Some part of the world has begun to go almost on cashless payments, but even now there exist countries and people who haven't used anything other than cash. Possibly cryptocurrency as payment will take time to reach all levels of people.

Along with the non-acceptance of cryptocurrency by most state administrators as a method of payment, of course cash's still very much needed to cover our needs in daily life especially for those who don't have an ATM. Crypto money in cash, wow amazing and this's quite interesting. However, considering the condition of cryptocurrencies in various countries is still not acceptable to the government, I think your idea will be in vain because this will collide with government regulations which until now are still unclear.

I do use cash all the time. And even if I have credit card I will still prefer to use cash everyday. People who are dependent in credit cards are in more serious debt situations than those who use cash. With cash in hand I will be able to manage my resources, what to buy and what not to buy based on the available money I have. With credit cards, you will not really feel the weight of your expenses because it goes directly to your credit card and you will only feel it at the end of the month, when you see how much visa and banks had taken from your money.

No, I almost never use cash these days. I have some of it stored in a safe for hard times because I find it more reliable from a bank. In short, I get my wage to a bank account and I spend it on daily needs, so I have only 1 time my wage stored in the bank. About 10 times my monthly wage is in cash at home, and the rest is in crypto.
I don't remember the last time I had to use cash for something. Card just seems more convenient and "cleaner". Also, I like to keep my bank account as empty as possible.

I can't live a day without cash, that's how we live here somewhere in the world. We are far away from a cashless society, even a credit card won't work for our everyday use let alone cryptocurrency. But yes, if we don't look at expenses then we might use credit cards for everything we need but that's a 20% more expensive compared to cash use.

Bitcoin is not declared illegal where I live , anyone is free to use it, but the people here don’t even like it. Nobody talks about it except those that are into online business. You will hardly see anyone talk about Bitcoin here, all my friends don’t even know about it. I’m the one that taught them what’s Bitcoin but they still not showing any interest in it. The only transaction I make with Bitcoin is with people that are living outside the country. So in my country I make use of cash and sometimes I can also make use of debit card if it’s where they have POS.

Usually I don’t go out a day without money in my pocket . Any day I’m going out I always have cash in my pocket. I don’t live in my place where people make use of technology when it comes to payment, they prefer cash. Unless you go to bigger stores that are well advanced , they are the ones that will accept such payments. But they don’t accept cryptocurrency as payment , they only accept payment methods like PayPal or bank.

Cash or a physical store of value will always be interesting because there is a chance, however unlikely, that a digital solution might fail because of technical / energy related problems;

eg: if there is war on a global scale, and power lines fail, gold, ammo, oil or preservable food can become the new cash...

My country has became cashless not by choice but by force. A failed economy, and an awful government has produced the worst hyperinflation the world has today. With under 3% of the fiat money in physical form, people just can't use it anymore. And because of the hyperinflation speed, the remaining banknotes are too small anyway. They were just introduced last September, and are already useless.

Well be have had years of this, its only becoming worse now. In the meantime, the preferred means of transaction in my country has been debit card, and some fancy wire transfer using SMS or smartphone apps. Unfortunately a new dark cloud looms in the horizon: Because of US sanctions, american companies won't be able to operate much longer, this includes Visa and Mastercard. Guess who handles most debit card transactions here?

Unless at the 11th hour the inept politicians beg the Chinese to bring UnionPay here, we are facing a new crisis (and we just had a whole month of blackouts, which are still raging in most parts of the country...

Contrary to media beliefs, use of crypto in this country is almost non-existent, except to escape hyperinflation by exchanging the useless fiat into it. The worst of altcoins, even game virtual money backed on nothing (ie WoW gold), keeps far better value than our national currency. So people exchange their savings into those, and only when they need to buy something they exchange it back into the smallest amount of fiat they would need for the purchase of that day. And yes, the shop needs to have the debit card reader, internet connection (could be dialup or mobile) AND electricity...

Should any of these fail, no transaction occurs, someone returns home empty handed. No food today, etc.

But we had no choice, we became cashless de-facto, while you people can still choose not to. If your fiat ever fails and enters a hyperinflation spiral it will be too late to react. Now that you don't have the urgent need, you can design ways to make it work effortlessly.

Think... What can be done for these few rare occasions where you need a physical exchange? Well i gave it a thought: Do the same thing done in casinos and arcades: Tokens! (the physical ones). Just like you enter a theme park and you get tickets for the ride, suppose there is a machine where you buy them, and at the exit you can return the unused ones from/to your crypto wallet.

Of course, situations constantly arise in our life where it is convenient to use cash, and sometimes it is just the only available form of payment. Of course, the percentage of use of cash depends largely on whether you live in a megacity or in a rural area, on the standard of living in a particular state, the nature of your activity and many other factors.
Payment by non-cash money binds us to certain technical means and their normal use also depends on a number of reasons, and which can always fail.
Cash does not have these disadvantages.

I used cash a lot because I don't have a credit card yet and most of the store I've visited do not accept credit card only cash payment,  I live in a third world country where only the few privilege are using credit card and there's not much store here in our country that accepts cryptocurrency.
But you will have to admit that we are in modern age where we can live good life even without any cash, I don’t consider the need of cash because I can see digital currencies are gradually replacing the need of cash in our life, we are able to use digital currency anywhere in the worked because internet has covered the entire world since long.

As it stands, it will be practically impossible to operate or do transactions without cash (fiat) this can be attributed to the fact that cryptocurrency have to gained that publicity it need to break even, so for now, just few persons are aware of what crypto currency and the blockchain technology is really about.

Of course, we will always need cash. This is the simplest and still the most common type of payment instrument. Non-cash money gradually increases the volume of its use, but cash still remains the main type of payment instrument. Non-cash payments are convenient to use for large purchases, and for everyday small purchases it is most convenient to use cash. Cryptocurrency will not be able to significantly affect the ratio in the use of cash and non-cash money.

Hmm.. that is true. Here in India, although Bitcoin is not banned, it is illegal to use it as a mode of payment. I guess the situation is the same across the vast majority of the nations. Also, Bitcoin is more suitable for making online payments and purchases, rather than the offline payments (such as super-markets and coffee shops).

We are comfortably be using cash by now since crypto aren't be accepted in many establishments and also we can't process payment if we don't have an internet connections. If we only could used it through offline status,  it possibly there is a sharing of numbers who are using digit currencies.
So there is no reason why we should have to eliminate fiat currency since they are still have a big role into our daily transactions

It may work for some people but majority is just as you said. Certain daily transactions and purchases can't be made through crypto or even credit or debit cards. They'd have to be made in cash because small time vendors don't have alternative ways other than cash. I've tried running around just with my credit card and i had a very hard time seriously.

There was a blackout in my out-of-city region due to a thunderstorm recently.

That's when you realize cash is still very much needed.

A computer crash, malware, botnet, whatever disruption could stop the whole world if cash is abolished.

Also privacy, freedoms and other philosophical reasons to not abolish cash.

Yes now cash being use only at the places where there is no facility of the crypto currency but those places where crypto currency is acceptable I think people don’t like to use cash and they prefer using crypto. Whenever I enter the market I see so many people ask about online payment as it saves our time and it gives us chance to earn and enjoy at the same time, we can pay with crypto being at home, I really don’t want to use cash now.

Right now there are lot's of apps that we could use to pay online but not every merchant would accept it .

A thousand and one cards and online payment platforms, the fastest internet connectivity rate in the world, yet cash is still a necessity. Yes, there are shops that don't accept cash at all -NO Brand Shops-, but the reality is that sellers sometimes dread the processing fee, the VAT attached to card and receipt payments. So, it's either you pay $10 cash or $13 with a card. And given this choice, most consumers will prefer to save $3 by using cash.

Purchasing goods and services with cryptocurrency is more convenient because it offers security, speed, low transaction costs, owner control over transactions etc yet not all the shops and companies have cryptocurrency integrated into their payment systems. This is why cash is needed to buy items in stores where cryptocurrency is not accepted.

Yes, we can use digital money now but in some areas it is still hard to use cards. There are times I eat into some restaurants and after finishing my food, I just realize the they don't accept cards and I have to pay in cash but the sad thing is that, I have no cash that time. That's really embarrassing, luckily the manager allows me to withdraw some cash first. It is still good to have some cash on your wallet just for emergency purposes.

A lot of stores are now accepting transactions or payments from mobile wallets nowadays. Credit cards are popular even in the past years but then again, mobile wallets or transactions are also getting more popular. I guess the future is shifting to offline payments to online payments. I am not saying that this payment method will be the one being used nowadays as stated by the post I agreed, "it is possible" meaning there is still that instance that there are a lot of people not using them. I trust OP is comparing fiat usage and cryptocurrency usage in our daily lives. It is quite clear that the people are more familiar with fiat because it has been one of the main payment methods for centuries now as compared to cryptocurrency which is just 10 years old. Also, cryptocurrency has a handful of stores that accepts it as form of payment if compared to the fiat, hence there is no doubts about the fact that fiat is needed in everyday use unless one intends not to patronize any goods and services.

I agree, and that also depends on the country or locality you're in. For example, if you live in the United States where most establishment even the small ones have card swipe machines, then it would be possible to not have any cash on you to pay for any services or goods that you would buy. However, if you live in other countries that don't have that luxury or the technological inclination, especially for old shops that are still more accustomed with using money, or small shops that would not even think of having those machines to cater to card-paying customers, then that would be impossible. Thus, it's a case to case basis.

No I don't think that would be a great idea since you are going far from the concept of electronic peer to peer transaction. That's the nature of crypto and you should stick with it. I know that your intentions are good but I think it will not work if ever implemented (IMHO). It will no longer become interesting for us because we look at it as the same paper money we had right now, just another name/brand.

What I see here is that you are not moving forward towards the new technology, you use the new technology to go back in the conventional way of financing instead. The bottom line, I'm not in favor of this (no offense).

Aside the popularity of fiat currency and the government legality of it the world still need fiat currency for everyday activities but the inclusion of crypto currency may be added to make it all better cause the purpose of crypto is financial freedom and the correction of the mistake made by the institutions. This is why the Greece failed when they want to ignore fiat and make all their activities base on the internet.

The answer is very clear. Most people use cash or.fiat money during transaction. Besides, there is no hassle in it for fiat money has a stablized market and not that highly volatile compared to cryptocurrency. If your project wishes to apply using your crypto basis then that would take sometim besides cryptoxcurency is not widely adapted to most of the countries around the world. There are still issues needed to solve from the conflict of the government in its regulation to all system that includes cryptocurrency.

It is possible to survive without cash nowadays, as even in the third world nations credit cards and mobile wallets are getting very popular. However, the lack of anonymity is one of the issues when you go for these modes of payment.

You know, still, most people ( and this is simply statistics) live in the villages, far from banks and large supermarkets. They cannot use credit cards and cryptocurrency. They use cash only.
you are right. even the use of cash is still more than digital. most likely that the use of cash every day is almost 100%. well, in this case, of course I also use cash almost every day.
For me this is not true because the place where I live is not that backward because I have seen so many people using only digital currency, I have seen stores accepting digital currency more than fiat, cash is optional at my place and I am sure at so many other counties now digital currency have become the commonly used currency.

Actually, I can't use crypto in my country.Because It's already banned and anyone using bitcoin will be sent to jail. So, I had to convert crypto to fiat first and then only I can use it.I heard in some Countries bitcoin is available for payment or shopping but in my country we can't take advantage of that.

If Bitcoin is banned in your country, then how are you going to convert your coins to cash? There is no 100% anonymous method for doing this, unless you trust someone to exchange physical cash for Bitcoin (and even that method is extremely risky).

Of course, I use money every day.  But as soon as my government legitimize bitcoin, then I will use it with pleasure.  It seems to me that this will be so soon.
I think it will run slowly. Even though Bitcoin is legalized in your country but Bitcoin takes a long time to be used as a payment tool in the community because there are still many people who don't understand it. So, cash will always be needed to meet daily needs.

Your project is very similar to Xaurum https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3110765.0 where the value is backed by Gold, I don't know what is the intention of the poll when it is too obvious that people are still using cash and will still use cash, we haven,t established a city where the population is using Cryptocurrency.

Today there was an interesting article in the BBC World. Can be accessed here:

http://www.bbc.com/capital/story/20190416-why-the-swiss-still-love-cash

If you go through this article, then you will understand why physical cash will remain as an integral part of our daily routine for the near future. A lot of countries have tried to encourage people to use digital cash. High-denomination banknotes are being recalled. But even after all this, physical cash remains very popular all around the world.

Lol,  who goes around without cash in their pocket? Okay, unless you plan to make use of mobile banking, PayPal, and stuff like that, but not every stores you go to are going to accept such payment. Just like where I'm living, you will hardly see stores where debit cards, PayPal and other mobile transactions are accepted. Most stores will always tell you to make payment in cash,  except bigger stores, that's where you can make payment with your debits cards as they accept POS. If you want to buy without cash, you can use online stores and order for what you want and have it delivered to you.

We still need fiat to fulfill our daily needs, especially to pay for school children and their allowances. So every day it saves fiat to fulfill it. In society, we cannot escape from fiat because most still use fiat as a transaction every day. If crypto is used for savings in the future so this is not too worrying about finance.

But for security  reasons, money should be deposited to any financial institutions with attach insurance just in case these financial institutions will go to bankruptcy.

If you want to be safe in case of some financial crisis better buy some crypto-currencies or gold. When we had financial crisis in 2008 almost all institutions suffered
from that, but not gold, soon after we got Bitcoin.
Next financial crisis will be interesting for us crypto-holders. I think that next financial crisis will speed up crypto-adoption, that will also boost prices of crypto-currencies.
I think most of us are using cash less and less. I believe that soon we will not use cash at all!

Here in my country, we really need cash for everyday use but even though there are merchants that are accepting cashless payments, it is still not enough for us to go cashless because the majority of the stores are still preferring cash instead of cashless payment but i think in the future, with the influence of bitcoin and other cashless payment options, it will make us cashless.

I mainly use cash and my bank card, although I only earn crypto and BTC for a living, which I get converted to fiat. I am in the process though of trying to get a crypto/bitcoin debit card, that is my next step to becoming almost cashless. So for now, yes I use a lot of cash as opposed to crypto because I need to convert my crypto first, but in the future, I want to be using a bitcoin'/crypto debit card as well. I want to be able to have more options, moving into the digital age. NICE little poll you got going and I will check out your project later in the day when time allows.  :)

I think that we will always need cash, regardless of the degree of development of non-cash forms of payment, including cryptocurrency. In our life there will always be situations where it will always be more convenient to pay in cash than with other types of means of payment. All other types of payments require special technical means, and sometimes being in certain places. Non-cash forms of payment are convenient only for transactions with large amounts.

Of course, I still need cash as a legitimate exchange medium for now, but if the government in my country has legalized the use of Bitcoin as a legitimate exchange medium, I will definitely use Bitcoin for daily exchanges. Because it's very easy to use Bitcoin, only with a smartphone.

Would you use it to pay for the stuff in different shops if the government could let you do it? Bitcoin is an investment, first of all, and I do not think it is a good idea to use it in shopping.

I pay almost all of my daily payments by credit card.  Because I want to sure my payments are taxed and in terms of national economy using a credit card is the best way. It doesn't mean that this 60% are not using credit cards or debit cards. I have two different credit cards with me. But even then, for some of the purchases I use physical cash. I don't feel very comfortable while paying street vendors with online payment methods. For such instances, my preferred mode of payment is banknotes / coins.

I dont use cash for months at a time but then I tend to buy in bulk.   If you are going for a daily paper and so on then to use cash is fairly normal still.     Contactless cards are some kind of replacement but mostly people stick with cash still as its more definite.     In terms of efficiency everything is going electronic and probably wont be optional at some point

Atomic app also supports buying BTC or other coins in cash. I really find that this is a great method and it needs to be expanded.
When I want to buy BTC, I need to go through an intermediary trading floor in my country and the exchange process is very time consuming and fee is quite high.
therefore, I always support wallet systems that support such direct payment.

Not every store has an option to pay through cards, forget about cryptocurrency. We have  along to go to reach a phase where we won't need cash. Yes, most of the time cash needs to be used for daily use. Because most of the time we like to cash in any type of transaction and also do it. Just like when we exchange cryptocurrency or bitcoin, but by cash only.
In some cases, the use of cash is very low. When a trader supplies his products in the shop, then the trader does not get the price of his product immediately. So here cash was not used.

Thank You

Well, it depends upon the perspective of the person in money. In my case, I do not need it because in reality, I can't eat the money. It may be a worth full thing in this world but it may not be usable all the time. Yes, money has the power to control people and in fact, it can be used to buy things that you want. However, if we abuse the use of money, it may harm ourselves specially, when it comes in our own behavior.

Lol, if 20% of what you have can fit in your wallet, then that means you don’t really have much. I go around with cash and the cash in my wallet is just about less than 1% or so of what is in my bank account. I also have bitcoin but I have never made use of bitcoin is buying anything online. Only thing I have done with bitcoin is sending it to someone and trading it online and nothing else. Lots of things I do I always need cash for it, so cash is very important to me.

If you ask me, I will say I need cash more than I need bitcoin. The only reason I’m into bitcoin is because I want to make money and that’s it, whenever I stop to benefit from it, I might as well quit making use of it. Where I live you will never see anyone talking about cryptocurrency, not to talk of making use of it. Whenever I want to buy something I need I make use of cash in buying them, and if It’s in a supermarket, I can make use of their POS to make payment, and some even accept mobile transfer.

It is still very difficult to make direct payments using crypto-currency. The most viable method is to get a pre-paid debit card, which can be loaded with Bitcoins. There are several of them available, and the charges and transaction fees can very depending on the issuing bank. These cards are accepted wherever credit cards are allowed.

Bitcoin will succeed in the future because of the technology behind it. I saw a picture in the internet that shows that a lot of big companies are exploring the wonders of blockchain technology and if that is true then it means that we should not worry about the future of bitcoin because the big companies are now getting into bitcoin to support it.

One of the reasons why I use physical cash is due to its anonymity. Even Bitcoins are not as anonymous as banknotes and coins. Once you transfer the physical cash, it is impossible for the authorities to track them back to you. So whenever I need to make some anonymous purchases, I use physical cash instead of paypal or credit card.

You see, there is no any big or small supermarket near to my house, so I pay with cash in those small shop that we have near by, they do not work with cards still. But when I go to town I pay by card in the most of cases. This way seems much easier to me and I would like to move on that totally.

As of this moment, yes if you are talking about fiat. I think if a huge trend using either digital payment or cryptocurrencies can make me not use cash anymore except small stores in our area. But I know that in the future, I won't use fiat anymore and just scanning qr codes to use crypto for paying.
I don't if that will happen, at least I can admit that I don't see the future, bitcoin could fail or succeed, but me I'm betting on the success of it.
I just hope that time will come the government can fully regulate crypto that will satisfy users as that's the only way it will gain massive adoption.
Too early now, at this early stage it's good to take advantage to invest and take a percent of the total supply, who knows it gives fortune to us.
We dont use cash in the future, that doesn't mean we will use cryptocurrency in the future right. I am also sure that cash will be obsolete because even now many people have left cash for payment. but of course the government will definitely launch digital payment, and that will close the possibility for crypto to become the mainchoice for payment in the future

Yes, I need cash for my daily use. Yes, Cryptocurrency is now a very popular exchange system, but the crypto currency in the offline exchange system has not yet become a complete exchange arrangement. Cash for our daily use is an essential element without which we can not move. Because the Cryptocurrency on our finances has not yet become important as cash. So cash requirements are very important for our everyday use.

Since we dont have a chance to do cashless transaction in every moment  we are urge to use cash we are too far from having a cashless transaction because most of the time people dont have a good knowledge about cryptocurrency, even though our cashless transaction already happening thru debit and credit cards still it requires fiat to move.

I am yet to see a market place that accepts cryptocurrency in exchange for the purchase of goods and services.
So making cash available for users who one way or the other wants to purchase with their Digital assets direct is a welcomed development.
I think it would encourage user participation.

Here you go: Open Bazaar

https://openbazaar.org/

It's like an amazon marketplace but you pay for everything with cryptocurrency. They accept bitcoin, bitcoincash, zcash and litecoin:

https://openbazaar.org/blog/how-to-spend-bitcoin-and-other-cryptocurrencies-on-openbazaar/

Marketplaces like that would grow if people used them. Unfortunately everyone is of the mindset that they should convert to cash and shop in the traditional manner.

This is difficult to implement because most countries only accept payment in local currency and no one pays bitcoin but in the future it may be possible,
I am currently selling the softeners and making them money to buy

We have to admit that digital currencies are taking hard time to introduce to all of the people as we can see, not all people are technological savvy. And many of us are still using the old fashioned way of either withdrawing or depositing moneys. For me I really need hard cash on my pocket. Transactions are easily done with cash. :)

Tax evasion is a big thing in the third world nations, but many of the bigger nations such as India and Indonesia have started to crack down on the physical cash transactions. In India, individuals need prior permission to keep cash worth more than $3,000 in physical form. But the change will be really slow and will attract the hostility from a lot of people.

well, I myself use a lot of cash every day. well, to meet my needs, of course I use it. sometimes, I also look for bitcoin, or altcoin for that purpose. well, however, of course we will all use it, especially if there is an interest.

No doubt - Bitcoin will be used for a long time, but it will not kick fiat out from our life. We need cash for everyday use. Not all people use online services and not each one makes payments with credit cards.

Fiat money still the majority had people used everyday, we can't live without this. We are something elevated right now with the existence of virtual currencies as another option but only those people who are at high level of the society.
It really takes time before there is a huge adoption of cryptocurrencies knowing that in some areas where there is no internet ain't possible for them to access this one and they'll never know actually for this.

As long as cash, the paper money or fiat remains the dominant currency within our countries, it will continue to be a necessity in everyday life. The paper money has got the legal backing of the governments of all countries across the globe and its usage is very familiar to the people as compared to other digital forms of currencies like cryptocurrency. It will take some time for the people to fully understand cryptocurrency and its benefits before embracing it all over the world.

Yes, I use cash but not often. I always prefer cashless transactions (Gcash, Paymaya) 'coz it's fast, hassle-free and convenient. It saves me a lot of time which I can use in other productive things. I don't think we need cash for everyday use in this 21st century, not unless what you are going to buy is much lower than the transaction fees like candies. It's nice to take advantage of the great technology of cashless transacting. In bitcoin's transaction's case, it's wise to save it for future investment than to be used as payment method now, considering the high transaction fees associated with it.

These are mobile wallets (Gcash, Paymaya.etc) and I think that they are quite popular in the Philippines. Here in India also, the mobile wallets are getting very popular (PayTM, Mobikwik, Google Pay.etc). One of the reasons why they are so popular is because of the promotional offers. I prefer them for booking flight tickets and for ordering food, because of the cashback offers. Now they are so popular that the credit card usage is going down and this has got the banks very concerned.

In the future, this kind of transaction might be available especially if the government allows cryptocurrency to be use by their own people.  Fiat and cryptocurrency can also coexist and people will surely get benefit by this kind of arrangement. At this present, only fiat is being used in transactions that requires both physical and cashless methods.

Crypto adoption is still on the way although the amount of crypto transaction made to my country for this year has increased tremendously base on the research that I've read. But as much as possible if the transaction can be made with bitcoin, I'm doing it without any doubt. Cashless society, we're going there and it is imminent. That’s your choice, but most of the things you will do these days you will need to make use of cash most of the times. Take for example you got to a local market to buy some stuffs you need, are you going to pay them with Bitcoin or PayPal? It’s still that cash that you will need to make payment and that’s just 1% out of things that you might across everyday that might require you to make use of cash. Though in some situations you will need just your own credit or debit card, or even an mobile payment app like that of PayPal and the rest of them.

we are always need cash for daily transaction because my country still not allowed using bitcoin as payment transaction, my country still illegal using bitcoin as transaction but legal bitcoin as investment or trade,
Is Bitcoin the only online payment system there is? Why not make use of other way if you need to make use of online payment? And btw there are many other ways that people can make payment, Bitcoin is even the least on the list, cause there are POS and they are almost every stores you get in these days. Then there are mobile apps and the rest of them that you can use to make payments. In my country there’s no law that states whether Bitcoin is legal or illegal, so I make use of Bitcoin, but I don’t see anyone here making use of it. It’s mainly cash that I use. Only make use of Bitcoin for the part time jobs I do.

For me, it totally depends on the scenario. In many cities of my country, people have gone cashless or trying to, but within them, there are people who do not believe in the online mode of payments.

Recently I helped one person with this and he is now happily using it which made me realize that many of them don't even know about this, so there is a lack of knowledge and education regarding this even if there is the option.

I think at first they should know about the online mode of transaction and then they will get to know about the cryptocurrency.

Volatility is an issue with crypto. If you want to go to the super-market and purchase something, then you'll notice that the prices for all the commodities are given in terms of fiat cash. So if you are making the payments with fiat, you don't need to worry about the volatility in the exchange rate. On the other hand, if you want to make payments using crypto, you need to check the prices every 1-2 hours. Because the exchange rates can very as much as 5% within a short period of time.

In our life there are many unusual situations for making various purchases not in specialized stores. In these and many other cases it will be very convenient to use cash. In addition, technology can always fail. I think that we will always need cash. This is a simple means of payment, which has long been tested by time.

In our province, it is not that it isn't available, in fact, it is legalized in our country.

The reason that we are not using Bitcoin is that no one is using it until now. I live in a city now but in the past, I live in the province and until now I am still asking them if they are now using or some places are accepting Bitcoin but it is not. I think the main reason for this is that most of the people that usually have a store here are not that big and what they will be needing for the family or other things that include money will be from the profit or the money they earned that day. It is true that Bitcoin still can be used in that but the thing is that no one is using it here so even if you accept Bitcoin here, you will be just saving them since you are the only one accepting it. Another thing I guess is the internet connection, we do have it but not all of us have access to it, in fact, a lot of people can't even use a computer.

Can you really use only cryptocurrencies or fiat without cash form in everyday life?

For the current state of my country, i cannot use cryptocurrency almost all of the time. We still dont have any technology that can support a fully non fiat payment system although we are a free country that can use cryptocurrency as we want. The least we can do now is to buy load and pay bills using crypto through an app.
Well, you do not need to worry there buddy using bitcoin is only an option. Now, why you need to use bitcoin anyway? Are you having huge transactions and just want to be an anonymous locally in your own country?

Bitcoin is indeed useful in to some scenario. This is why to.those users alreadt using bitcoin are fortunate enough already because they are benefiting the technology.

It can be said that the cryptocurrency is still taking the first steps for the introduction into our life and before its full implementation will take place for decades. However, in any case, I think that the cryptocurrency will be one of the many means of cashless payments and will only go along with cash and non-cash forms of payments of ordinary currency. National currency is needed for the development of the economy of each state, so it will be tightly guarded and controlled by each state, and therefore will never disappear.

Where is btc illegal? Where will you go in jail for using it? I think nowhere. Well, let's say bitcoin is "legal" in specific country, any idea here? You can't pay everything with it, you can't get job that will pay you in btc (don't mean online jobs), you can't pay bills in bitcoin. In any way, you need to convert your bitcoins in cash, this way you can live with btc everywhere but direct payments are far away.

Well my answer here would be I use cryptos more than cash. I prefer investing much of my earnings so anytime I get a payment, I invest fixed amount if it and spend the rest by converting it to cash. I have not stopped using cash entirely as I do use cash to carry my daily transactions as there are not much opportunities to spend you daily expenses with bitcoins so it really makes using cash probably more easier.

I would like to learn more about your project and I would surely support it if everything goes great for the project. But I did not actually understand your concept. Are you insisting the use of cash pr cryptocurrencies?

if you are disturbed and want to pay with a card I suggest you look for a bigger store so that you are not disturbed. surely not all stores accept payment from a card, they are also the same as we want to make money for their lives. so do not live arbitrarily and at will because all of them have rules.

I can't really find which governments have been completely legalized bitcoins or the cryptocurrencies. The cryptos are still struggling a lot for most of the governments to make them legal so I am sure that most of the countries might not be having the facility to shop directly with your bitcoins. It is a challenging task for each of us to trade bitcoins for physical good like food, clothing and shelter.

We need cash to fulfill our demands and to also take care about our luxuries. There is a need for the cryptos to make some existence in the markets so that wholesale dealers come to know about them and they are been included in the international trade markets.

For now I still use both, because in the area where I live it is not so supportive for the implementation of the non-cash transaction system, it still takes a long time to achieve non-cash transactions that have to be prepared from the infrastructure to human resources. The use of non-cash transactions in my area is still limited to interbank transactions or with financial applications that are not non-cash crypto currencies.

Yes, I still do need cash for my daily necessities. If I want to buy like softdrinks, high chance that I will pay it in cash in the store not a card or something. No I think now even merchants have recognized the value of crypt currency they are adopting crypto currency more than fait, crypto currency makes more profit for us, it gives fast and easy transaction and also it allows to send money from one country to other without any additional cutting and taxes, so we need crypto now for our daily needs more than fiat.

In our contemporary world, cash or fiat is needed for everyday use because crypto has not hit the mainstream adoption where all stores, businesses, firms and institutions have it integrated into their payment systems. Fiat is more familiar to the people now than cryptocurrency and until crypto reach the mass adoption, fiat will continue to be essential for everyday use.

It all depends on the country where you live and the development of the crypto currency and is accepted in the government, because not all countries approve it.
I myself still use fiat or real money for my daily needs and do a bitcoin exchange method with fiat so that it can be used for purchase transactions, because in my country of residence there are no stores or transactions that use bitcoin or cryptocurrency.
but I really hope this can be applied in the country where I live.

Cryptocurrency is still used mainly as an investment tool. As a means of payment, it is used very rarely, because the infrastructure for its use is not yet sufficiently developed and this makes its practical use very difficult. In addition, it is still in a state of development, over the past few years it has improved significantly, but vseravno, this is not enough.
Therefore, cash, and especially non-cash money of the states will not disappear anywhere. I think that they will always exist and will run in parallel with the cryptocurrency. In different situations, the most convenient type of means of payment is applied. While cash is still the most convenient in most cases, with the exception of large transactions.

I will be hypocrite if I say I don't need cash for everyday use. However, since that I am here in crypto business I can't able to do that, due to crypto its not directly currency that can be use as payment in any form of traditional business. it can only be use as a digital form of payment online not in physical payment, but it can be convert into fiat currency turn into a real money.

Cryptocurrency in cash is something interesting. I have long since met information about the release of Bitcoin in a similar form by the Singaporean company Tangem, which issued its notes in 0.01 and 0.05 Bitcoins. I really do not know the result of this venture. However, everything is possible. I am absolutely sure that in the future we will see various options for sharing cryptocurrency and other types of means of payment.

No it is not true we can use it for anything because it has so many opportunities for us, we can use cash but if we look at the time and need it is important to avail the opportunity and accept the digital system of payment, because it is beneficial for our society it saves our time and it helps us to shop online for goods of our need.

If we look into this then it will take much more time for this to happen. Off course primary usage can in eCommerce for the moment. Some shop can do this recieve payment in bitcoin as one of the default currencies.
This is progress considering that not so long ago almost everybody dislike crypto in general.

Yes I need cash for our daily needs.I belong in an Asean countries in which crypto currency doesn't seem to be very known that some people doesn't really aware of it's existence. Moreover it do really exist but not everyone understand it's purpose and still doubts of its potential use as a currency.

Yes i use cash in my everyday living,  but sometimes is a hassle for me ,  unlike digital currency you only need your phone with a wallet and viola , your free to go anywhere  but only problem is only few business accept crypto.

just same like you I use cash for everyday life, in my country businesses that use digital currency as payments are still very limited, and most of our people don't understand the digital currency. maybe the next 2 or 3 years a lot of people in my country use cryptocurrencies as the payment.

I would say 80% yes because I'm starting to get used to digital payments. I'm paying my bills, mobile load and online purchases using my digital wallet and I really like doing digital transactions when I buy stuff on the internet. I'm very confident that after a few years, I'll be using fiat occassionally while cryptocurrencies on majority of all my transactions.

It is not surprising that the use of cash has won the greater percentage of the votes because cash or paper money or the fiat is more familiar to the people than the other digital forms of payment. Even with cryptocurrency, the final conversion for most investors end up with crypto - to- fiat with the merchants. This is where most investors make their profit.

In my opinion, most of today's society is in desperate need of cash for their daily activities because most of the shops, traditional markets use cash transactions so that if there is no cash it will be very difficult to trade in  everyday life therefore not all markets accept digital currency and not everyone knows about this digital currency
digital currency has not been effectively used, especially for countries that have not legalized it, even there are no transactions using cryptocurrency. therefore we still depend on cash to make ends meet

Yes, you are right in many countries cryptocurrencies are not legalised yet but even though they have legalised but still they are using cash for their daily usages. It will take another 10 years to implement the cashless world, in rural areas it is impossible to implement the digital currency.

It really depends on the situation and lifestyle of a certain person, if you refer rich people they usually don't used fiat money instead they used their cards like ATM/CREDIT CARDS, for normal people they really used cash everyday.

because I live in a village, so most needs are still bought in traditional markets and use cash. only occasionally buy less urgent needs in everyday life such as clothes and jackets that I buy online.

Most people, who live in the cities also need cash to use it every day. I bet, they do not visit large supermarkets always, and in small shops, cash is usually accepted. Do not forget about popular flea markets, where the usual currency is needed.

Yes, cash is needed because it can be used anywhere and generally everyone knows cash for each transaction.
not everyone knows about digital currencies, only a few people know about cryptocurrency and the limitations of being able to make transactions using cryptocurrency and only in certain places.
so in my opinion cash is far more important than cryptocurrency because cash can be used anywhere there is no limit.

Cash is more important than bitcoin, because of my daily needs and what I use to get what I want in all transactions I have to use cash.
in my country of residence, I have not found a transaction that uses bitcoin and to be able to make transactions I exchange bitcoin with real money to be able to use it in any case.

Obviously, for now, it's not possible as mass adoption of cryptocurrency is still in the early stage.
But as time proceeds day by day many will be thinking about accepting cryptocurrency as payment for their business and services by which will be the reason us to live without fiat and start living using cryptocurrency to get our needs.

yes, i dont think i could live without fiat. I do believe we still in very far away from that future where no more fiat and all transactions goes digital. I do also think crypto are not really welcome in my country so yes i do need fiat to live my life and crypto payment are not available in my country.

Of course! We need fiat currency nowadays. We did not let the fact that even there is a cryptocurrency that existed today. I use my fiat in order to buy products in the market as well as paying the bills in my house. However, I am adapting also cryptocurrency specially when I am buying in a mall that accepts QR code.

In case there are no available crypto payment methods you will still need to use fiat (cash).

Anyway i find your project quite interesting actually. Will take a closer look when it's started within your 16 days countdown.

So far, cryptocurrency and even other non-cash Aida payments using ordinary currencies are not used as often. First of all, this refers to cryptocurrency, which still does not have a developed infrastructure for its practical use as a means of payment. So far, it is also used as a speculative means of accumulating value. We will still need cash in the future, in many situations we simply cannot do without it. Therefore, I have used and further prefer to use cash, especially for small purchases.

I have knowledge about this but the neighborhood didn't for they are not fond of using these technologies and just sticking to the norms. Obviously due to this, we were totally using fiat through our transactions.

Paper fiat is what most of the government is clinging onto for them to function. Paper fiat is a widely used method in paying for goods and services. In the country where I live, we still utilize paper fiat to go cashless. In my opinion, people are not accustomed yet to using cryptocurrency, they view cryptocurrency as something that cannot be trusted (I think this is because of instability with the value and other security features concerning transaction via digital platforms).

It's still possible to pay with paper fiat money here where I live, but everyone uses a debit or credit cards when they shop, some things like new cars can't be paid with cash anymore and some shops who are open in the nights can refuse to take cash also.

Personally, I have used a payment card for 99% or more of my shopping for the last 10 years, there are no fees on my side, as long as the payment is done in the country where I live.
When I travel to a foreign country I mostly use paper fiat paper money, both that's only to avoid fees.

If all of tge business establishment accept digital currency what's the use of it. Though, I don't think it will happen now. Better to have it in your pocket every where. It is so obvious that it is needed. The number one reason is that Bitcoin doesn't have an intrinsic value, that means we still need cash to exchange them, just imagine having Bitcoin without other exchange value since there is no cash.

on the other hand of course the people must submit to the prevailing government policies, so that with the absence of the legalization of cryptocurrency, making cash still dominates for daily needs
right, that is very important, because legalizing each crypto usage is very important. people will certainly not use prohibited things, and most countries forbid using crypto as an exchange tool because it can be a competitor for fiat from a country. because of this, cash is still highly prioritized.

Cash is still needed until crypto adoption becomes mainstream. If you don't want the Big Brother knowing about every single one of your moves it's the only way to go. I'm really terrified of the direction many EU countries are taking, where they plan to completely eliminate cash (such as Sweden).

Maybe in the later years we might get access similar to that we use cash. These days with more wallets into existence even the usage of cash is made much easier. most developing countries experience the same hegemony, however, for now many private parties have developed online stores, at least starting from one of the conventional tv media.

My country also prioritizes cash(so do i), but 10% of people can make sure they are familiar with online transactions, they make payment via smartphone scanners in several shopping centers and transportation media, Crypto payments only need to wait for government regulations.

If you are business woman you should use digital money, it is more easy to use for fast and huge transaction, in this era everything is almost dependent on digital system so does payment and buying goods, in my place people have left using cash now because cash is optional and crypto currency is better than using cash, it saves time and saves us from extra cutting while paying.

In fact, I use significantly larger amounts of funds with the help of online purchases and online payments on my accounts.  When I rest, it takes me some money and it is during this period that I have to pay in cash.  Apparently if there will be a specific infrastructure for the use of cryptocurrencies, then the situation should change dramatically.

Yes, I prefer cash than digital money because, in my daily routine, cash is the most usable one. Here in our country, the use of online transaction is very rare unless you've wanted to buy something in an online stores like lazada or shopee. But if the world adopts this method, I will probably change my way of transaction.

Uptill 2017 it was impossible to go to a small grocery store , an auto-rickshaw driver or even a local vendor and pay in the form of e-money. But now many companies have grown in my country and made it easy to be cashless. One of them has even tied up with the government.
Cash is important but not convenient we all know that and we can see a future where Cryptocurrencies are the form of payment everywhere is not that far.

  • In my country half the population have moved to cashless transaction. They prefer using
cards or the mobile payment services similar to PayPal.
  • 25% of the population have never used cards for their transactions till date. This entire
50% most of the time prefer direct cash usage on everyday needs.
  • The technologies have grown supporting the transaction in terms of fiat happen within
seconds, but some corner of the world people continue using fiat.
  • Usage of cash will continue forever unlike the innovation taking place relative to
technology and other forms of growth.
  • Cash will always serve to be the primary spending asset, while the digital
payments and other forms serve as alternate to cash.

I think we still need cash for everyday use because virtual currency or cryptocurrency is not yet legalized by the government in every country, even a lot of people nowadays knows about it. There are still more people who uses fiat or cash more than virtual or non cash payments.

I think cash will be in use for a very long time. The planet is not developing evenly, and in large cities there are always many foreigners who come to work.

I often use them when I tip, or buy jokes.

I think so, although in some countries digital currencies such as credit cards, online wallets, cryptocurrency, and other online payments are increasingly popular. but there are some classes of people who do not know about it, like you said many foreigners, many poor people, and etc. who do not know about it, and for the process of understanding it takes a very long time, I use occasional cash and digital currency in some a place like a mall.

Of course, cash or fiat is needed in everyday life because it is now the primary means of exchanging or purchasing items and services. Cryptocurrency is now largely used on online basis hence the fiat is more needed when it comes to offline purchases in some stores, businesses, companies etc which do not accept or know about cryptocurrency.

at my place, most people also make transactions using mobile services from their smartphones. whether it's in the matter of buying something, transporting, or ordering food. it's the same as uber, or something. I think it's worth mentioning as a digital transaction tool. but, even though developments have progressed, they still need cash transactions every day. it's just that now, it has been integrated with digital transactions.

so, for now, we still need it for purposes that do not require far enough transactions. but people have started to get used to using digital transactions.

With all different ways of payment cash is still one of the oldest ones in use. Still good part of payment is done with cash most people think its safe and many like this, credit card are next in line and mobile devices are to follow in this. Still with all technological improvement we are into everyday cash payment some stores dont use it.

Yes, everyday i am using cash to buy foods, fares and necessities for daily usage in our household. It's the best and easiest way to purchase in our country because we are not fully adopted crypto currency unlike other countries.

Same here in our country. Though cryptocurrency are now slowly being known here and some merchants are accepting cryptos for their services and products,  those primary needs are, somehow, only available using fiat. So to answer the question, yes. I still need cash for everyday use. It will take a long time before I won't totally need cash but I'm looking forward to that time.

I am living in a small town, where hardly anyone is aware of cryptocurrency. But one encouraging thing I have noticed recently. Ever since the demonetization happened in 2016, a lot many of the roadside vendors have started accepting digital payment options such as PayTM and Mobikwik. Hopefully, at least some of them will experiment with cryptocurrency in the future.
