Title: Stats on the Rank pipeline - How many are we on the way to ranking-up (II) ? Post by: DdmrDdmr on March 19, 2019, 12:33:10 PM 1. Introduction.
Almost a year ago, I created a post on how the ranking-up pipeline looked like (see Stats on the Rank pipeline - How many are we on the way to ranking up? extension (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3338915.msg34933172#msg34933172)), and I thought that it may be interesting to create an updated version of the analysis to take a look at how things stand now. Most of what I’ve included here can also be retrieved and followed with weekly updates on the Merit Dashboard (https://public.tableau.com/profile/ddmrddmr#!/vizhome/BitcointalkMeritDashboard/GlobalSummary), selecting the tabs labelled “Ranked-up” to see those that have ranked-up under the Merit System, and “Ranking-up Pipeline” to follow the core of this post dynamically. 2. Ranked-up under the Merit System As a general context, the following is a summary of what I make as the amount of forum members that have ranked-up under the Merit System (needing at least 1 sMerit in the process): https://i.imgur.com/O0XUuUD.png What the table shows is that 13.229 people have ranked-up (as of last Friday), making it: - Legendary: 10 (from Hero Member). - Hero Member: 38 (22 from Sr. Member, 11 from Full Member and 5 from Member). - Sr. Member: 100 (63 from Full Member, 6 from Member, 1 from New Era Newbie and 30 from Old Era Newbie). - Full Member: 174 (84 from Member, 13 from New Era Newbie and 77 from Old Era Newbie). - Member: 3.183 (437 from New Era Newbie and 2.746 from Old Era Newbie). - Jr. Member: 9.724 (4.783 from New Era Newbie and 4.941 from Old Era Newbie). One curios thing that stands out is that the number of accounts that have made it to Jr. Member are currently now nearly half and half between New Era Newbie (first merit >= 17/09/2018) and Old Era Newbie (first merit < 17/09/2018.). We could cross this data with last active to get some more insights, but that is not really the objective here. A full list of the ranked-up members can be retrieved from the Merit Dashboard (https://public.tableau.com/profile/ddmrddmr#!/vizhome/BitcointalkMeritDashboard/GlobalSummary), but I’ve also provided an easier (static – i.e. not updated weekly) access here to the complete list of ranked-up forum members: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-Kt6olnf_vTnNXa-l_LVX2as3Rwz-K727OMForuAYDA/edit?usp=sharing . Note that the column "started with" is sometimes slightly off when the person has been merited between the creation of the forum’s merit.txt file, and my profile scrape a few hours later. 3. Ranking-up pipeline - Summary The ranking-up pipeline summary looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/G44QQ1D.png Out of the 27.147 merited profiles, 1.390 are not really in the ranking-up pipeline (Legendaries, staff, etc.), so we get a net of 25.757 profiles that are included in the ranking-up pipeline. We could go a step further and discard profiles that have not logged in x months, but I don’t think it is worth doing that yet (besides, they may revive as accounts). Out of those 25.757 profiles, 62,10% lack just the merits for ranking-up to their next level, 15,25% lack just the Activity, and 22,35% lack both. An additional 76 people are Heroes with the minimum activity (775) and the necessary merits (earned + airdropped), and whose formal conversion requires the activity to build a bit more and/or the ranking Legendary algorithm to kick-in. 4. Ranking-up pipeline – by Rank The ranking-up pipeline summary by Rank looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/cU03zLG.png The above gives us a breakdown of the table is section 3, by Rank. There’s a new segment category here, “3. Soon may rank up to Rank”, indicating that those people are within 20% of the required Merits and Activity (on both accounts) to reach their next rank. They are not the only ones, since those that are near the merit or goal rank individually are also near to their goal (more on that later on). Interesting to see: - 660 profiles would be legendries (or at least postulated at the minimum required activity threshold) with the old system, but not under the Merit System. - 1.210 Sr. Members would have been Heroes under the old system. - 2.657 Full Members would already be Sr. Members under the old meritless system. - 4.460 Members would have been Full members by now under the old system. - 7.009 Jr. Members would now be Members under the old system. - There are 3.284 Newbie accounts, with at least 1 Merit that have not ranked-up due to lack of activity. That is surprising, but there are likely causes such as nuked and being here for just to make a couple of questions or comments. 5. Ranking-up pipeline – by Rank and segment of Merits and Activity This breaks down what we saw in the previous chart, in order to show us just how close or distant each profile is within a given segment, creating subsegment quintiles for Activity and Merits. Hero and Sr. Member: https://i.imgur.com/OuAE7nn.png Notice how there are 607 (out of 660) Heroes that we can now see that have only somewhere between 40% and 60% of the Merit goal, while having the required activity. Only 10 profiles are very near their goal (activity >= 100% - minimum for Legendary; merits between 80% and 100%). I’m not going to detail it all here, but the pattern is similar on all ranks. Full Member: https://i.imgur.com/nmPR4YD.png Member and Jr. Member: https://i.imgur.com/8jAlDFg.png A complete list can be obtained here (second tab): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-Kt6olnf_vTnNXa-l_LVX2as3Rwz-K727OMForuAYDA/edit?usp=sharing. 6. Ranking-up pipeline – Next to rank-up (within 20% of goal in terms of Merit and activity) Next Legendries: Code: user_id name rank NextRank activity merit startedwith segment_activity segment_merit url I can't get any more names on this post, so I've added the full list of Next ranking-members here (third tab called "Soon will rank-up"): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-Kt6olnf_vTnNXa-l_LVX2as3Rwz-K727OMForuAYDA/edit?usp=sharing. A cool thing to add could be a tab with these simple values: A= N of users could be new X rank = Y B= N of users ranked up to X rank = Z % users ranked up B/A x 100= % For example Quote - 660 profiles would be legendries (or at least postulated at the minimum required activity threshold) with the old system, but not under the Merit System. This means = %= 10/660*100= only 1.51% of potential legendaries has ranked up! Title: Re: Stats on the Rank pipeline - How many are we on the way to ranking-up (II) ? Post by: LoyceV on March 19, 2019, 01:45:50 PM - There are 3.284 Newbie accounts, with at least 1 Merit that have not ranked-up due to lack of activity. That is surprising, but there are likely causes such as nuked and being here for just to make a couple of questions or comments. Those are the Newbies I send Merit to when I see them. Real users who aren't here to spam the forum shouldn't be restricted by the Merit system.Title: Re: Stats on the Rank pipeline - How many are we on the way to ranking-up (II) ? Post by: tranthidung on March 19, 2019, 01:51:50 PM This means = It is normal figure, I think.%= 10/660*100= only 1.51% of potential legendaries has ranked up! Most of Hero Members (airdropped Hero members) from the old era (before merit system) will not be able to move up to Legendary rank. Over time, we will see the difference in pecentages of Hero Members ranked up to Legendaries between new and old era. Who can rank up with new era, to become Legendary will be different. Of course, there are still Legendaries from old era are outstanding guys in the forum. Over time, the four clubs in my topic will mostly contain totally self-made users (by mentioning totally self-made users, I meant who started from zero to higher ranks) [CLUBS] Top Merited-Users Classified into 4 Clubs (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5115154.0) Title: Re: Stats on the Rank pipeline - How many are we on the way to ranking-up (II) ? Post by: DdmrDdmr on March 19, 2019, 06:05:44 PM <…> It’s a good idea, although not too trivial to interpret. Nevertheless, I’ve gone ahead and given it a go (Added to the "Ranked-up" Tab). It’s also not that easy to implement either on the Merit Dashboard, since data is at two different levels: The current rank in the pipeline and the current rank "+1" in the ranked-up data. Nevertheless, I’ve managed to include it by shifting the logic to SQL and having Tableau display a new simple additional source. The result should be therefore updated each week, and looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/Fd6CUsX.png Note that the last column is a ratio, and not an exact conceptual percentage. For example, the 100 Full Members (that have ranked-up to Sr. Member) could also be included in the count for Sr. Members lacking merit to reach the Hero rank. It looks like I'm the only one Sr. Member from the New Era Newbie? If it's true, I would be very proud of myself - OP can you confirm that? [edit:] Sorry I haven't noticed spreadsheed attached... Just checked - IT'S ME ;D Title: Re: Stats on the Rank pipeline - How many are we on the way to ranking-up (II) ? Post by: DdmrDdmr on April 01, 2019, 01:44:41 PM <..-> Correct as far as I can make it, as per the following definition:New Era Newbie: First Merit >= 17/09/2018 Old Era Newbie: First Merit < 17/09/2018 From New Era Newbies up to Sr. Member you are (as of last Friday’s data - just checked the Merit Dashboard if anyone else had done so this week) the only one to have made it so far. Well done there! In addition, there are 31 Old Era Newbies to have reached that rank. |
