Title: Does anybody know Equicex Black Card? Possible scam?
Post by: JeffArryn on March 28, 2019, 05:17:15 PM
Hello!

A friend of mine has ordered this card where you can sell your BTC and withdraw from an ATM anonymously. It hasn't still arrived. I was thinking of ordering one, but I have found almost no information! Their youtube channel is full of videos that nobody watches, what they do is possibly illegal in Europe, and other cards I think in the past were sort of shaddy.

So I was wondering if that could be a scam! Maybe some people here know about it, cause in case that it was legit I would be interested :D

I really have no idea as it's the first time I've heard of that service, but there could be a lot of reasons why you haven't received the card yet. Could be due to delays, shipping issues, and such. I wouldn't call them a scam just yet. Have you tried contacting them yet about the shipping? Also, how much did you pay for the card?

They seem to be quite active on their social media, which is a good thing. Though that doesn't make them necessarily not-a-scam. Since we aren't 100% sure about their legitimacy, as always, keep most of your funds on cold storage. Don't send majority to the card's wallet.

Not familiar with the site but you mean a "physical" card here?

At most of the cases, expected delivery time should be stated at the order page or after some confirmation. And surely because it was overseas, expect some longer period of waiting.

How long your friend is waiting now?

Is this the service from where the card was ordered?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5118814.0

They seem relatively new and the thread was created on March 09. Try asking in the thread how long it will take before the card arrives.

Equicex Group provides debit cards for a multitude of cryptocurrencies worldwide, although there are some reports which states that these guys aren't really the real deal. Since WaveCrest Holdings stopped their debit card services for bitcoin a few years back, I haven't trusted any debit card companies to be as legitimate as they could be. If your friend is waiting for a few weeks past the due date of the expected delivery, best thing to do is contact the debit card provider's support people and get a lead from there. Usually if a debit card provider ships around the world, it will take weeks before the said package to arrive.

Anywhere with no ID and no limits is going to be toast very, very soon. That's if it's not just a black hole for someone's crypto to disappear into. The people who hawk this stuff know perfectly well that everyone wants anonymity and no limits.

They say they're running through an offshore bank in Belize. That's nothing much to do with Visa who'll squash it the moment they become aware of it.

Even if the card arrives and works, under no circumstances leave a penny on there for any period of time.

I checked their site from their thread  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5118814)and found that the domain owner is from Malaysia according to whois but when I checked the about us page this is what the location that I found from their page "Kemp House, 160 City Road London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom"

So it means it's possible a scam business because the domain was registered 2019-01-16 which is pretty new and the location is Malaysia but according to their about us page, they are located to the UK.

Code:
Name:Domain Admin
Organization:Whoisprotection.cc
Street:L4-E-2, Level 4, Enterprise 4, Technology Park Malaysia, Bukit Jalil
City:Kuala Lumpur
State:Wilayah Persekutuan
Postal Code:57000
Country:Malaysia
Phone:+60.389966788
Fax:+60.389966788
Email:email@whoisprotection.cc

Another one that I noticed is that when I check the source code of the site the website was created in wordpress CMS which is unprofessional. Never heard any real business use a CMS like Wordpress.

Heck, even crypto card services that require ID are having trouble at the moment AFAIK as their accounts are simply being closed by card issuers like Visa. I find this pretty suspicious personally just for the anonymity, though I would not call this a 100% scam yet. If you do receive the card, don't put more than you can afford to lose on it.

[...]

Is very strange what you are saying, your friend asked to send the card by regular mail or asked to send the card by DHL. in some countries, it is difficult to receive fisical cards by regular mail because they steal, and this is case of my country, for example. I never receive card by regular mail in my country, I had to ask them to send them by DHL. you should wait until your friend receives his or her card, test it and see if it is working well for you to think about asking for your card too

Honestly, It looks too good to be true to me, how can it be 100% anonymous, no verification, no limits? 🤔

Although there's no direct proof that they're a scam. The stuff listed in this thread are valid red flags so If I were you I wouldn't jump and risk my money to it, even if a friend personally had a smooth transaction with them.

Sounds too be good to be true, there weren't any credit card provider who can provide both anonymity and limitless at same time.

Additionally when i look at https://www.equicex.com/black-card/ (https://www.equicex.com/black-card/), it's weird to see $ 250.00 is the minimum load amount, it's simply too high.

I won't buy those card because even if I bought, I could not use it in my city because people here don't know much about bitcoin or bitcoin ATM machine.

Yes, that is too high to buy, and I still prefer to use my ATM from my bank to make a transaction. It seems they are a new player in the debit card that supports cryptocurrency, so we need to be careful to choose them to buy the card. Besides that, it still depends on the regulations from the government related to using the ATM machine for bitcoin.

Wow!! So much feedback!!

Well first, I appreciate tremendously all your comments! Especially about the search on the registered domain and the code lol
To me, the way I look at the website, the youtube channel, the lack of positive feedback (or any feedback at all all over the internet lol), looks really suspicious. Maybe someone just wants to steal 55€ from a lot of people, and possibly some BTC in the process.
The fact that they don't mention the alleged bank, the fact that they register here and 2 days later the account isn't active anymore... The fact that it is illegal in Europe to provide this kind of service due to KYC and anti money laundering policies!

So if you know of any other method to sell my BTC anonymously I would really appreciate! Right now I'm using Bitwala, which is a German cryptobank and has its own debit card and overall they work great, but... I'd rather have anonimity to be honest lol so if you know of another way of selling my BTC anonymously I would greatly appreciate it :D

I was checking the address on their website and it seems to be a paid address, not a real address... It seems to be like a regular service some companies make use of, and that doesn't necessarily means it's a scam I guess

This will be difficult plus the fact that you will deal only with your country's currency.

How about consulting your local group, if there's one here in the forum (local section) or in any social media crypto groups. There might persons/traders that willing to trade with you. Obviously you must do a background check first to those people.

You can also try the Currency Exchange (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0) section of the forum.

I am waiting for his blue card.Black has to high fee for me
Below i am posting few links showing that company is legit

https://www.bizstats.co.uk/ltd/equicex-group-ltd-11775931/
https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/equicex-group-ltd

https://smartereum.com/48986/dash-news-dash-coin-price-jumped-by-just-over-12-percent-after-equicex/

His blue card is from very legit provider what is also EcoPayz provider
http://www.psi-pay.co.uk/

His black card is from Belize offshore .It is a little to risky for me however Belize offshore is not blacklisted by EU same like any other US offshore area
They ask only for scan of id,passport or even driving license to confirm blue card
You need even to give proof of adres so why not to order blue one

Title: Re: Does anybody know Equicex Black Card? Possible scam?

Thanks for the feedback but the first link:

https://www.bizstats.co.uk/ltd/equicex-group-ltd-11775931/

"It's a company run by 1 director and 1 secretary"???? hahahaha

And then the name of the director, "Claudiu D.", is the same as the secretary, so I guess he makes both functions as both Director of the company and also Secretary?  ;D ;D ;D

And as I said, the zipcode EC1V2NX

Takes me in Google to some websites of virtual address rentals!!

https://yourvirtualofficelondon.co.uk/

About the provider you mention, when I search on Google both temrs together, "psi-pay" and "equicex", the only result I find is from the very same equicex website! Nothing else!

And then when I go to this link you shared:

https://smartereum.com/48986/dash-news-dash-coin-price-jumped-by-just-over-12-percent-after-equicex/

And click on the tweet and go to Equicex twitter, I just see 2 users commenting on almost every Equicex tweet, using the same kind of tweets of how great Equicex is!

Now there is another other guy on Twitter that writes in behalf of Equicex. He claims to be the CIO whatever that is of Equicex. He is some guy named David Miller:

https://twitter.com/davidmillerbtc

His activity on twitter is questionable. Before "Equicex time" there are some tweets mostly on crypto, some worrying. Like this one:

https://twitter.com/davidmillerbtc/status/1040962317436039169

It's really strange.

Then I searched on Google "David Miller equicex" and all I find is his linkedin site, in which he says that his only laboral experience starts in January 2019 lol wtf I'm very out of these curriculum stuff but I cannot believe that someone at his maybe late 30s early 40s starts a business and doesnt have laboral experience wtf

https://www.linkedin.com/in/david-miller1

Same picture as in twitter, just that one picture, usually someone that seeks to work and has a profile in linkedin has more information on oneself!!

So now I google "David Miller" plus his alleged claimed university and... I didn't find much. I didn't find anything that talks about this David Miller.

Ok, that's a lot!! I still feel like it's a scam and even though you have 1k messages here I wouldn't trust any of it. I will have to wait and see. See if my friend recieves the card, see if there are any real happy costumers, see if the card actually exists, would be nice to see a real one lol

Let's see! I got all curious!! Someone continues this investigation please!!! And let me know how I did! :D

Takes me in Google to some websites of virtual address rentals!!

https://yourvirtualofficelondon.co.uk/

At one point Bitstamp's 'headquarters' was a a 10x10cm post box in a London industrial estate. Loads of places do it. That's not a red flag in itself. Almost everything else is though.

There is one extremely simple rule that comes up constantly here - when someone asks about some unknown service on here it's 99% likely to rape them. I would never use anywhere that didn't have a ton of feedback on here already and ideally several years of trouble free service.

They should have FCA licence but they do not have it.

Lol I left a few links to this thread on their Equicex twitter and I got blocked by both "David Miller" and Equicex accounts  ;D ;D ;D

The equicex guy also stoped by the threads he had created on this forum and closed them, meaning no more responses are possible. I'm heavily leaning now towards the scam possibility...

I have not heard anyone say that they received any cards from them.

As far I remember when I checked Equicex, that the anonymous card (Black Card - most probably its a virtual card), you can only get it when you have bought a physical card.
So technically, you are giving your info for verification/delivery and it is no way 100% anonymous. They say "100% anonymous" for the "Black Card", because you are getting it without any verification I think.

I hope I have explained well while I think I have not. ::)

When trying out to check the link you have posted only a few countries can possibly get that blue card.Im trying to find out on what are the benefits on this one.

Well said, even just on delivery you are already exposing out your personal info so its not really truly anonymous at all. ;D

I'm a literally shocked that experienced people (or at least with a lot of messages) here are asking about the true anonimity of a card provided by a company which mostly likely is a SCAM!! LOL

If you want a non-anonimous good card try Bitwala, it is a true bank account with debit card...

I still dont understand why people are risking their funds dealing with suspicious providers while trusted and verified options already exist?? I dont know if that card is scam but I advise you to take a look at quppy.com (Quppy wallet). It is a wallet where you can open a real EU bank account with IBAN number and buy/sell crypto in amy amount you want

Debit Card will be available in Q2 this year. As for now you can withdraw money via SEPA payment in few clicks within the app. Or you can just store funds within the wallet ( it is also a secure crypto wallet btw) and wait untill debit cards are ready

Regarding % fees, I don't know which one would be better. Buying/selling I think is about 1%, but the card is free (free deliver, no maintenance, free withdraws). I personally use Bitwala and their debit card and have made transfers from my account to transferwise for example and I know all that works great. Their support has been great for years too.

Fees. If we have several service providers the fees thats the only matter. I have compared bitwala, coinbase and quppy. Quppy offers the best fees among mentioned services.

Their youtube channel is full of videos that nobody watches, what they do is possibly illegal in Europe, and other cards I think in the past were sort of shaddy.

So I was wondering if that could be a scam! Maybe some people here know about it, cause in case that it was legit I would be interested :D
How to withdraw form that wallet? Do they have a debit card? I can not find the order option on their website. Or ordering the card is possible only via the app?
Debit Card will be available in Q2 this year. As for now you can withdraw money via SEPA payment in few clicks within the app. Or you can just store funds within the wallet ( it is also a secure crypto wallet btw) and wait untill debit cards are ready
How to order the card in that Quppy wallet? Downloaded it and trying to muddle through all the stuff in the app but can not find the link how to order ???
Ordering the cards is not available at the moment. Team promised to make it real in Q2 this year. Visa and Mastercard will be supported. You can contact the team directly and ask any questions fin@quppy.com

@Forsmagor:

LOL you're so full of shit

If you have really checked Bitwala's fees, could you tell me how much they are? And how much for trading crypto to fiat??? :)

I would say you're trying to push some SHITTY white paper project which doesn't even offer a card.

So much spam here.

They offer two types of the crypto debit card but their anonymous black card is not 100% anonymous. I got an email from their support team and they answered my questions regarding the card provider: They don't use Wave Crest and this only can be a reason why I decided to test their service.

That's what I said "Black Card" is not 100% anonymous as you need to buy the "Physical Card" first in order to be eligible to buy the Black Card.
Wave Crest is not an option for them, afaik they stopped service for crypto debit cards or maybe Visa, Mastercard is not supporting them anymore.
Somewhere (idr) I have seen that someone wrote they are using Lloyds Bank, but it is not something we can trust. Can you write the name of the provider or it is something to be kept a secret?

it's very strange what Equicex is promising, they wrote the following in their twitter account:

#KIN is now available on #Equicex. Trade #KIN against #BTC, #ETH, #LTC, #ETC, #BCH and many more. Visa Prepaid Card and Black Card deposits are enabled.  https://www.equicex.io    #bitcoin #blackcard #prepaidcard #bitcoincard

https://twitter.com/equicexgroup/status/1115352221221359616

But look what some people have commented:

Please, show at least one person who got your card.

This is a scam!

It seems that there is no one who has received the supposed card that they are saying

It is indeed a scam.

Funny to remember what one member said here, he said something like: "Whenever someone comes here asking for an unknown service it is 99% a scam"  ;D ;D ;D

They paid some money for people to put random comments on twitter, some 3-4 accounts commenting, etc. But now people knowing it's a scam is exponentially bigger as no one recieved the cards, so they stopped updating the crappy youtube channel or twitter. Funny how these works, and would very much like the people at this post with a bunch of messages to come here, show up, after what they said. They were probably in it too.

His blue card is from very legit provider what is also EcoPayz provider

His black card is from Belize offshore .It is a little to risky for me however Belize offshore is not blacklisted by EU same like any other US offshore area
They ask only for scan of id,passport or even driving license to confirm blue card
You need even to give proof of adres so why not to order blue one

I'm waiting particularly on this guy with 1000 messages and on whom bitcointalk warns me not to trade with, to come back and remind us of how legit this company is.

Pretty shady stuff!

Well never heard that name. I can't say it's a scam or not, and I don't want to. I will just  say that you need to remind your friend to do a research about the company before you decide to buy or use their services because scam is very rampant in this decentralized world. I hope that we all can avoid scams and those bad services.

I know!! I remember the first thing I told him was: that's probably a scam!

I had made my fair share of research back in 2017 (I asked in this forum) so I knew that black cards were illegal (at least in Europe), so my intuition was it would either get shut down or more likely was a scam.

I told him that and he said he would risk the 55 euros that the card cost and he was fine with that.

They don't allow messages in that Equicex thread! The equicex scammer came here when I started making questions and a little noise on Twitter and closed all threads he had started in this forum, I was actually gonna post in that thread too ;D ;D ;D

Look, let's be clear: when this guy Pab guy he came here and started to put all these links as if they were proof of legitimacy, I thought there was something really fishy about it. It was either insulting my intelligence by claiming that crap was proof of legitimacy or he was in the scam.

I have mentioned him a lot of times in this thread and he didn't want to come, it's up to him and his consciousness. There is a lot of deception in these forums I see.

Well, good luck with your card Pab!! So unfortunate that it got lost... as all the other cards!! By the way, I've read a lot of people that haven't been answered to their emails at all (and even shut down their accounts), so good luck with that too!

Now, I have an honest question for you: Are you in the scam too?? I feel you might be.

Allright, I already created the thread about equicex at the scam forum, I didn't even know that forum existed here!

Hope this way it gets more visibility, though at this point and after so long, I think the vast majority of scammed money already has been stolen

Within 17 minutes time frame, you made 4 posts and I afraid you will get a ban for multiposting in a short time.  ::)

You could have made 1 post for all by using the insert quote function.

Hahahaha ok so now you can order your imaginary visa blue or black fake card... for free!!  ;D ;D ;D

https://twitter.com/davidmillerbtc

BTW, you see the 39 retweets and likes (from fake accounts obv) on the tweet... but no comments? lol

I have no idea why would they do that, maybe they want to get free info on people to sell it after they shut down their scam? The only thing I would bet on at this point is they are about to go down. Maybe too many people figured out it is a scam at this point and they are barely getting any more people scammed buying their fake shit

So they are scammers
I have received official email from PSI-Pay Managing Director

You can add that to your scan thread

I am in a place where i have little  internet connection

Look below

I would like to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and I confirm the following points:

·        We had no knowledge of Equicex, before your email, and have no relationship or connection, business or otherwise, with them.

·        We note from their website that, whilst they mention PSI-Pay in their terms & conditions, that they use an offshore bank and PSI-Pay are neither a bank or considered offshore.

·        We have observed, from the UK Companies House register, that Equicex Group was formed in January of this year, has two directors (but no person with significant control) and has an issued share capital of just £1.00. Their website seems to indicate that the domain is registered in the British Indian Ocean Territories.

You may draw your own conclusions from this but, in any event, PSI-Pay will be sending a cease and desist notice to the Directors of the company and reporting this case to Visa for their intervention.

Perhaps you can help us to identify the true issuer of the cards by providing us with the first six digits on your card. We do not require the full, sixteen digit, number and Visa can then act upon the true issuing bank as what they are doing is clearly in breach of regulations and Visa governance.

Thank you once again for contacting us, it is most appreciated.

Best regards

And

Glad we were of service to you.

We have now reported this to the authorities and issued a legal notice to Equicex.

Good luck and regards

"You may draw your own conclusions from this"

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

On a more serious note, I'm sorry that your lost some money. My friend lost only the shipment of the black card which was something like 50-60€ if I recall correctly.

At least I feel good that this post might have been helpful for some people to avoid this scam...

This scam is hilarious.

If you dig into their business setup, everything is painfully wrong with Equicex on every single level.
