I know its very  hard to explain, but why did theymos think that KYC is really necessary for this lovely forum?

No, it's the biggest joke in our forum in this period. Better to not to submit your KYC information so you won't get scammed by theymos.

Well theymos decided to add KYC probably because it is the trend.  He even made an announcement thread about this implementation.  Do not forget to check his thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5124947.0) to guide you on how to fill-up those forms and it also  needs an extra verification by requiring you to provide your photo  in your reply on that thread.


Don't sulk, its not that bad and you will find it entertaining while filling up the form.

It seems to me that if you give your KYC then this is a kind of variation and confirmation that you can be trusted and that you are not a crook.

I just came in and saw KYC announcement, I was KYC and not a bit of thinking is April Fools, is this a fact.

This type of person is so lazy to realise that this was a joke for april fool. Go search for the page first if this a true story or not. Dont just get panic for this kyc before knowing it just a prank.

I guess they explained the reason behind this KYC. this is done for the good of us as forum users, with the presence of KYC spammers in this forum will decrease and hope the quality in this forum will be better.

I was surprised when I opened my browser and saw the notice. I later follow the link to the KYC procedure and filled out the form until the gender section which made me realize that this is the biggest joke I've ever experienced in this forum.
But I think it is quite make sense that if theymos really apply this requirement for some reasons. And hell yeah, he got me  :D

Have you forgotten what day it is? I hope that this is the main reason, if you do not remember that last year was also a very interesting joke on April 1. Very cool that forum administrators do not forget to joke. Cool.

not so mate this is a celebration every year on April 1, a kind of joke that we are all happy. look at the meta KYC now required you will find a variety of funny pictures you can also verify yourself and contribute in there

I think this will be a good spam thread because April fool thread was pinned in KYC required form. So once you submit directly it will move to next process in that thread but everything is just for fun. So better you should lock this thread because many useless posts are increase this thread.  If you want to make fun you can move to Off topic.

I think it's only April Fools. Don't be too serious about this, we should laugh. try going to META you will see everyone jokes for this.

I am more than confident that many have filled out KYC forms with all their data! Even without suspecting that this is only an April Fool's joke! Be careful guys!

They are basically saying its an april fools joke but it is not impossible that for now on, bitcoin talk will going to implement this system to verify the accounts. Well, indeed I can say it is still commended as a precaution for people with multiple accounts, be alert to be honest nowadays, use one account to be prepared for this.

It's an April fool joke and a reminder that the forum would never go on to acquire personal information of people that may be misused.
It also makes us cautious about whom we are sending our personal data and for what uses. If such information gets into the wrong hands, even if you are a law abiding person, some other can be doing illegal activities in the disguise of your identity.

Yes he actually put the joke on us and the joke got many bitcointalk users including myself, it was until my friend told me he thinks it is april fool that i now relax because it wouldnt have been funny if it is true, hundreds of people would have been kicked out owing to the fact they wont release their information

Yeah sure, no way that they won't consider to implement KYC for real. This is a forum for Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. A lot of the people are here because they value their privacy and don't want the government or big companies to have all their data.

Go ask theymos himself. Anyway, you can directly send him private message if you want to get the answer. For now, just follow what he wants us to do to avoid any conflict or else you can go quit posting in the forum.

Why we should all get a headache with this requirement? I have seen the same concern all in the forum today. This is a perfect joke made on April fool. But I guess the administration is actually thinking of this. Hopefully this will not happen. And I have read mixed reactions to this April fool 'joke', both positive and negative. Public opinion is needed on this topic I think.

I think this is just April Fool or joke as there is no extra info about KYC verification and i personally request if it is near to implement never do it pleas. Bitcointalk is lovely and huge platform love it.

Believe me, if bitcointalk leads this verification rate, it will lose more than half of its members. In addition, the leadership of the forum will never pursue such a policy, since it is unprofitable for them.

KYC will sooner or later need a Bitcointalk, as this will make it better. Scammers and spammers will be less, and this is not all the benefits.

There was some kind of joke even last time around as well as far as i remeber, looks like the forum admin really enjoys this day, i have not seen him celebrating any other day like this, i hope he will giveaway rank advancement giveaways too to old and active members like me when he had a happy day :D.

Lol at first I thought that it was actually real, not until I found out that it was only a prank just to fool some users on the forum, being that it's the first day of April. A day to make all sort of jokes and laugh about. Though there are many who did fell for it lol!

I am sure you would have gotten the joke by now,It's "April fool's " day. The kyc is a mockery if you take time to read the details. You are even asked to submit contacts info of past romantic relationship... Get the sense of humour..

Why is it so difficult for people to just understand a simple joke? Just by opening the KYC form tells you that this is a joke. Please sometimes take your time to read through everything before creating a post thread. But anyway if you want to find answers to this question, visit the meta section of this forum. I must admit I laughed so hard this morning when I saw this :)). Also the genious behind it knew well what he did and it worked so gooood as for a second I got confused too  ;D ;D. Last year was with a lot of random credits to users, that was also good as I remember it very well   ;D

Trying to avoid KYC until it is not necessary. I was shocked for 2 minutes  after I was reading the KYC verification requirement.
So many personal data needed. Checked the cordinates WTF. After a while I realized that it is a joke. My blood pressure was on ATH.

why are so many people deceived? it's just a joke, don't worry, it's just worrying about overdoing their goals. but if you still want to fill out the form then fill it quickly before your account cannot be used. I have filled out the form provided and my KYC is accepted LOL  :P

Many people are so serious with their lives, try not to be serious everyday and do throw some jokes. Anyway, you have nothing to worry about if you’re working on this forum well. I believe we have all nothing to hide for not unless you have so many identity.  :D

It's quite funny that some people got caught in the April 1st norm. Imagine waking up so early in the morning and the first thing that comes to your mind, is something that may pop up from your heart, because it was unexpectedly.
I knew so many things would happen today, so I already told myself that, I will not get carried away and be caught by the April 1st things.

although this is an April Fool, but if it is properly enforced, I strongly agree. because if it is implemented, then this forum will be much safer and more controlled and can reduce the alt account. let's apply Kyc because this is one step towards an improvement in the quality of this forum.

He should have read the items to be filled first before creating this thread. Just reading the details will make you think that something is wrong with this picture. But if you are too serious with your life, then this kind of humour will not strike you.

Yes, it is for our own safety because there will be no scammer anymore in this forum if KYC required.

I think bitcointalk will be always a good forum, even with or without KYC.

I think you provide proof of your KYC, first you can also maintain a good name in this forum, and also to prevent many account users.

I was really surprise at first when I saw it, so what many people were saying is true, that it is April fool. I just saw that it is no longer there.

It seems so got caught on the april fool. That KYC thing is just an april fool.
So don't take it seriously, its a joke to release our stress, so just enjoy and do anything like always.
