Title: Anyone knows whats going on with Bitcoinwisdom?
Post by: cellard on April 07, 2019, 04:18:38 AM
Go to the link below and look at the graph:

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/bitstamp/btcusd

It's a straight line. Not only on Bitstamp, everywhere else too:

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/bitfinex/btcusd

Well BTC-e and okcoin have been dead for ages afaik, so I don't know why the website owner still lists them, but as far as I know Bitstamp and Bitfinex didn't die... so what's going on?

What graph sites you recommend to follow price that is similar to Bitcoinwisdom?

Bitcoinwisdom has been, well, slowly loosing wisdom over the years...

I remember a day when that was the go to spot for top crypto charting.

Then again, so was mt.gox btce and cryptsy...

I suppose, all good things slowly come to a bitter end without some sort of evolution process.

the main page at https://bitcoinwisdom.com/ is also down. it is probably some server issue not being able to update their data. i can't open Twitter where i am, check their page here https://twitter.com/bitcoinwisdom maybe there is some news there...maintenance or something :P

Just checked a few mins ago and it looks like they have fixed it (I see the graph, no straight line like you mentioned on Bitfinex chart). But I use this link: https://bitcoinwisdom.io/markets/bitfinex/btcusd.

As an alternative, you can check https://cryptowat.ch/.

You got me buddy, the twitter account of bitcoinwisdom is not even active since few years ago lol.

The straight line does exist at the domain using .com but indeed it works fine if we access it using the domain .io
Other alternatives that he can try: https://www.tradingview.com

The website is bugged since morning. I think the site is down due to some issues on server. The owner of site might busy and unable to update the website. I suggest you to follow them on twitter and wait for some notification or new. I hope we get some good news from bitcoinwisdom https://twitter.com/bitcoinwisdom

There is no point in following them on twitter since they have been inactive as the posters above me mentioned for the last couple of years.

None of this looks good for Bitcoinwisdom which is why I suggest checking out the alternatives for now.

the owner hasn't updated the site in ages. the coinbase chart died a few months ago and never came back. i'm a bit worried the same will happen with the rest of wisdom's charts now. it's a shame. wisdom is the most aesthetically pleasing site of its kind.

What graph sites you recommend to follow price that is similar to Bitcoinwisdom?

i use cryptowat.ch and tradingview.

I use https://www.bitstamp.net/market/tradeview/beta/ to follow Bitstamp, which is my main benchmark exchange. I also have the vanilla version of tradingview open to follow Bitfinex's market too, because some times it goes wild and the rest of the market reacts to it.

I think it's safe to say that the lack of developments on Bitcoinwisdom reflect the interest in that site. It may end up following Clarkmoody (for those who still remember it) and eventually take everything down.

It is quite ironic how we almost tested BTC-E's stuck ticker price of $2546 while Litecoin went well under BTC-E's stuck ticker price of $41.27. :D

I also checked the link. https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/bitstamp/btcusd I also don't really understand what's happening in this market.

This is a platform connected to financials so having a technical problem is not a good thing. If they have a technical problem, they must fix it right away or as soon as possible. I am starting to have trust issues with these kinds of markets. Maybe, Bitcoinwisdom is really going down and having major problems with the operations. But we don't know. I really hope that the bug will be fixed soon. Their twitter account is not active and it is really making me worry.

You are right because without evolution no measures will be taken to advance the cause of events, bitcoinwisdom have indeed lose it wisdom as no proper measure have been taken to update and upgrade they chart system and the general operation units.

To bad if they are going to close down.

It was the only place I checked the price, I don't give a damn about CMC or others that either use chinses exchanges or are simply full of unwanted information. I actually never cared about prices on other exchanges that bitfinex and bitstamp and sometimes coinbase.

Guess I'll just have to switch and check the price directly on Bitstamp from now on...

Just checked a few mins ago and it looks like they have fixed it (I see the graph, no straight line like you mentioned on Bitfinex chart). But I use this link: https://bitcoinwisdom.io/markets/bitfinex/btcusd.

Read what is written in the left corner:

BitcoinWisdom.io is a working clone of bitcoinwisdom.com

Yup. Bitstamp for me, but I don't even really care so much except I need a standard for *some* clients to refer to reliably, but in general everyone just accepts that we'll be off several dollars or so, and sometimes I win, sometimes they do. I even trade quite a bit p2p (all selling though) and if I need a quickie I just "btc to usd" on Google, same as any currency I'd check. I suppose once BTC goes back to 5-digit USD valuations, all these slight variations will matter a bit more than usual.

It's a straight line. Not only on Bitstamp, everywhere else too:

I guess that something has happened either with their data acquisition scripts (deadlock, infinite loop, I don't know), either they couldn't retrieve data (blocked by the exchanges).
I've seen such situations now and then on various websites showing the market data.
As a nice coincidence, it has started working just minutes before my check. Now it's back to normal, obviously, without the data it couldn't read.

Quote
21:24:38 5121.38 0.00925
21:24:26 5119.88 0.00286
13:03:09 4943.1 0.93620
13:03:05 4941.88 1
13:03:03 4940.41 2.92205

More than 8h without data is indeed a lot.
As others said, another option I also use is https://cryptowat.ch

my wisdom ticker for bitstamp is still receiving data and producing candles. the problem is anytime the chart is reloaded, it deletes all the data going back to 11:03 UTC yesterday:

https://i.imgur.com/8mJ5eAk.png

so the problem is getting worse and worse. soon, these candlestick charts will be worthless for any sort of analysis and the indicators/moving averages will all be wrong. something must have happened at 11:03 UTC because the other wisdom charts are frozen there too and new data is not being saved on wisdom's servers.

i don't have high hopes at this point. the owner has kept the dead okcoin and btc-e charts at the top after they've been shut down for years. the coinbase chart has been dead since last year. in fact, most of the exchanges it lists are dead now. the only important ones left are stamp and bitfinex and if those don't work anymore, well.....1Referee is probably right that it's going the way of clarkmoody.

I see this:

I use 1w for the interval. Maybe there is an issue or problem that bitcoinwisdom got, and they still fix and solve the problem. You can use tradingview for making analysis and try to visit bitcoinwisdom in a few hours later, and I hope that the problem will be solved.

Yup, migrating to another similar services is the obvious step forward (although the look&fell at cryptowat.ch is not 100% as I'd like).

I use 1w for the interval.

If you work with 1w intervals, an outage of a couple of hours is not visible so badly in the price candlesticks. It should be visible though in the volumes.
Us, mortals that use hourly (or even faster) intervals clearly see the problem. And it's not its first occurrence.

For some time now the website was being managed almost automatically. Without any kind of update. Exactly when speculation began about the ban on the Chinese market, the site stopped updating some of its functions. And now there seems to be some simple problem, but since no one is managing, no one has fixed it yet.

It is difficult to abandon the habit of visiting bitcoinwisdom. It is a simple site, which takes up little memory and requires few resources of the computers. Most other sites offer several features, but most of the time, they are unnecessary features.

But as it happened with preev, they must correct the defect and the site will re-operate correctly in a few days. Meanwhile, tradingview, with bitstamp graphics, and https://cryptowat.ch seem to me to be the best alternatives.

Quite late, but I understand now what you mean, it has happened to me too a couple of times until I got to make the right connection.
The conclusion is the same: goodbye bitcoinwisdom.com

The .io clone is an interesting option, thanks for the link.

Here the same thing happened, I guess because of my browser but it didn't. I don't understand why this happened, I see the server is fine. Maybe because there are API updates from various exchangers but bitcoinwisdom hasn't updated it yet.

Even I, do really have that kind of hardship when it comes on not to visit bitcoinwisdom ive been using this because i do really love the simplicity and its just really lite to use.

I do already notice some past issues and until now it havent been resolved yet which as you said they do stop updating about that speculation of banning the chinese market but well
who knows whats actually the reason but bitcoinwisdom do waste up their service.Im now using tradingview since.

I've been using the .io version of the site since the .com version went down. I actually prefer the .io clone as there are more markets like Bitmex and Binance which I frequently trade on, and plenty of pairs as well, many more than on the .com site. Basically the same site but with a few improvements over the original. Owner seems to have stopped updating the site a while back, the Twitter account linked on the .com site hasn't been active in ages and the Bitcointalk account is also inactive (click for link (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=108544)). Unless the owner comes back to tweak the site again this might be the end of bitcoinwisdom.com.

Why would they let the .com die? its a shame as i am stuck in my ways and been using it for a while.  Guess i'll have to move to the .io, the devs should probably redirect all traffic to .io if no plans for .com.

I think .com died a long time ago, (atleast the development did) and .io was simply made by the fans of the original .com.

I don't think they're affiliated with one another. See their ANN; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=190722.msg43833362#msg43833362

You see that because you are using a weekly candle chart so it's not still reflected. After a couple of months you will see it's also a flat line on the weekly chart. It's dead, I recommend that you start using bitcoinwisdom.io as im doing (thanks to these that mentioned it.)

I was aware of cryptowat.ch and I was considering replacing bitcoinwisdom with that, but I find that website too bloaty on my browser. Tradingview is a mess to take a quick look in my book, that's for hardcore technical analysis and not to get a quick glance at the price. bitcoinwisdom is a nice sweet spot of simplicity and enough info with everything I need. Probably im overrating it due nostalgia factor as everything that involves nolstagia tho.

This is so retarded. I didn't even know of their .io domain. They have been know to operate on their .com domain for years now, and all the SEO is boosting that domain in every possible way too.

They should add more features in order to make it more interesting and worthwhile to pay for, otherwise they'll end up abandoning their whole platform eventually. The few ads they generate revenue from is an absolute joke.

Tradingview has gained a lot of popularity with how basically every social media influencer uses it, and I have finally made the switch too. It offers way more features and customization options.

The bitcoin difficulty part of this website stopped working days ago. It is no longer updating.

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty (https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty)

They abandoned this forum and gave up developing the site years ago. It wouldn't expect it to get fixed anytime soon.

.IO isn't directly affiliated with the .com domain i think.. Some people simply rebooted the project.

But yes, both of them do lack features compared to tradingview. I guess it's just some sort of nostalgia/cleanness which attracts me to them, as opposed to the abundance of features on tradingview, (most of which i'll never use anyway..)

Yet another sign (as if all the others weren't enough) that the site is on autopilot and failing:   A one year subscritption to remove the ads is 0.4 BTC. That probably hasn't been updated / made realistic in ages.
