Title: How To Accept Recurring Bitcoin Payments?
Post by: nysefloortrader on April 09, 2019, 08:56:13 AM
So I have a successful crypto newsletter site, and its had press done about it. For its accuracy.

But i want to now start taking payment in crypto, recurring every month. Like $17 per month.... but not in USD i want to do it in LTC, or ETH or BTC...

Is there a merchant or site that can do this. ??

Help a brother out please???

Not sure but you can check if bitpay can do this.

I think this is something that I have not seen with Bitcoin. When I was introduced to Bitcoin I had this in mind too but then I thought let it manage in old fashioned way.

Yes, i don't see why OP can't use something like Bitpay or coinpayments for a month to month subscription service.
Coinpayments; https://www.coinpayments.net/apidoc-accepting

If you have a bit of technical knowledge yourself, you can probably even cut the third-party out, and just use Bitcoin core. (Which will save some % on each tx.)

Two others that might be worth looking in to;

OP is looking for recurrent payment options not one time. As far as I know coinpayments and other offers one time payment only. Honestly speaking, I have never seen a recurrent payment using Bitcoin yet.

I think coinbase offered subscriptions some time ago not sure if they still do.

The issue with a subscription / reoccurring transaction and Bitcoin is the you don't pull BTC / crypto, the sender has to send it. If none of these services offer a subscription the best way to go about it would likely be to assign every user an address and run a script that checks for payment. Every month the user has to check to see what this months payment amount is and then send it to the same address, the script checks periodically to see if the subscription was paid up and continues to provide access to the service if it was or adds time to the account.

Otherwise if you use one of the other services, they are just acting in a similar manner to paypal or a credit card company where they will take x USD/BTC/LTC/etc. from the user and transfer it to you.

You could use the API if all the clients are using the same centralized wallet (example Coinbase) or time-locked outputs. If you use a popular CMS you could certainly find a plugin about Bitcoin Recurring Subscription There are also some 3rd parties to do this such as lightningcollect.com, BitPay, etc...

Recurring payment won't work in bitcoin unlike debit/credit or paypal where you can automate deduct the monthly payment subscription.

However, if you are using a Wordpress as your CMS you can try this plugin below that accept crypto payments with Recurring Subscription feature.

You can check this plugin from here GoUrl Paid Memberships Pro – Bitcoin Payment Gateway Addon (https://wordpress.org/plugins/gourl-bitcoin-paid-memberships-pro/)

I have used coinpayments in several occasions. Bitpay in two occasions to pay for my internet hosting. I never seen them to have recurrent options. You have to manually pay them.

Not as a merchant, but yes, I've used Coinpayments & Bitpay as a consumer numerous times. They work decently.

I think the closest you can get as to a recurring payment is doing the same thing as companies like Private Internet Access are doing, send reminder emails to the customer, and add some sort of grace period of a week time if it's a subscription-based service.

I'm not sure whether or not i've used blockonomics, but i probably have. I don't think i've used gourl, but i'm pretty sure they're a relatively new service.

I have service with godaddy and I noticed they do the same even I have auto renewals active. I see they send several emails before my payment dates which are enough for me to get the alert that I have an upcoming payment is due.
