An interesting article, but too much water. They write that country Nigeria is very poor. And to invest you need a small capital, and given that unemployment in the country at 23%, few people will be able to invest. As they write in the article, it will be able to use people familiar with computer technology, and for ordinary peasants, it is not much interesting. The only advantage is international payments, but with a large Commission it is not interesting, you need an alternative to other altcoin.

well using ethereum for a means of payment is like using CPUs to buy groceries, like exchanging a corei3 CPU with a bag of potato!
everything is designed to do a certain job. bitcoin for example is designed to be a currency, ethereum on the other hand is designed to be a token and its usage is for smart contracts. obviously you can use it for payment too but it is not meant for that. not to mention that it can not handle large number of transactions. its scaling is even worse than bitcoin's.

Recent days 8 myself noticed various emergence from African people. Some crowdfunding was done for African's welfare and one signature campaign also ran in the forum to create awareness over them.
People who have money africa they should comes to invest on cheap cryptos which can grow well in the market.
That will help individually and they could help their own citizen.

The article is far from addressing the Nigeria situation hollistically.
It talked about bitcoin adoption in Africa which is a very congent topic considering we all are looking forward to mainstream adoption of blockchain.

With a very big growing population of Youngsters, now Africa is really primed for Bitcoin and other Cryptos because many unbanked with just a mobile phone now will be able to join the crypto revolution and be empowered to work in this space as well as transact in it. The blockchain now is here to stay, despite opposition from other more mature economic circles, African Countries now, both governments and the private sector can rally around this phenomenon and build a new economic paradigm for Africa to move forward at a brisk pace and I believe Crypto will be a very important factor in bringing Africa to the forefront of innovation and technology, as well as more economic empowerment for its People.

Okay so as the article was saying, 21 million people are giving interest in joining cryptocurrency. Yes it could be a mass adoption in bitcoin but, are those 21 million people already adopted bitcoin? I guess that when they pursue their interest then that could be a mass adoption.

It definitely includes altcoins also because they are also cryptocurrency and even the stable coins.
Crypto is very useful for small and poor countries, their adoption could help the demand grow, and will result to a good market.
But it's still early, we didn't feel the effect yet, we need more adoption from different sides of the world so crypto will become mainstream.

It is really encouraging and good news for the entire crypto community. Finally crypto is being mass adopted after its long struggle and difficult times. One saying goes truth will always win. History says that good thing or invention has to always go through difficulties to make its presence strong and get popularity. So cryptocurrency is going through now. But ultimately it will win. Now the world is becoming ready to adopt cryptocurrency.

Cryptocurrencies will be more accepted in countries where people still do not have banks, in countries where people only have a mobile phone and thanks to it, they can easily receive and send money - cryptocurrencies.

This is a great idea because Africa has had numerous experiences with hyperinflation. One such example has been Zimbabwe, where people hoard scarce U.S. dollars as a store of value. Increasingly, South Africa is at risk of an economic collapse due to plans to expriopriate farms and other land without compensation. With the widespread use of mobile phones, the unbanked will be able to bypass the financial institutions ignoring their needs. Also, with cryptocurrencies, governments will have less influence on the currencies people choose to use.

It would make sense, they never really had a decent banking system which is the problem for them, they never hand the global banking network that the Asian countries have. We take advantage of the paypals and swifts to get our money for so long that we managed to survive by earning money from western countries while living on eastern countries which allowed us to have an easier life. Africa -because of the lack of proper banking- never had that chance given to them and they had to live in their own means.

Now, bitcoin is here I am pretty sure they will be capable of reaching out to western countries and build some digital presence for themselves both earning and building so they could get decent amount of money from them. Old people are fairly done with it anyway but young people will be looking hard into this chance.

there has been a lot of bitcoin adoption in a couple of third world countries around the world. a lot of places in Africa, the Indian continent, Venezuela, Iran,... have been showing an increasing interest in bitcoin. in some cases it is even faster and bigger than the adoption in the advanced countries!
but i have not yet seen any altcoin adoption anywhere in any of these countries or anywhere else for that matter. the only altcoin adoption that i have seen so far has been investors buying them before they get pumped to make profit and some gambling sites allowing you to gamble your altcoins away. but nothing else.

there has been a lot of bitcoin adoption in a couple of third world countries around the world. a lot of places in Africa

Could you provide a link to that information?

Because adoption to me is different from usage.

I believe adoption is when a country has signed it into law so that anybody that rejects to accept it totally, is likely to go to prison.

But usage can be a small group of people or refusal won't lead to any further action.

Well , I'm yet to hear of bitcoin adoption in Africa .

That is great news for the crypto user. That is showing us the adoption will works in many countries too. I admitted that the young generation now become aware of the new technology and if they think that technology could help them to survive for their life then they will use it and search for more information.

I read on that site, the youngster from Africa can get a job as a freelancer. I am sure that they will be able to get a payment from what they do. We are in the internet era which gives us a big opportunity to get so many sources of income to make money, and if someone can get the money from the internet, that would attract the other to come. That will happen with the cryptocurrency. And the youngster can get the money from crypto, then their friends will curious and will ask how they can do that so that the adoption will be running well.

Well 21 millions is a huge counts if ever they will invest in crypto specially if thats from african continent only because this can consider as Mass Adoption thing that we as cryptonians waited fo4r long and i must admit that this is larger than what asian has.

Would you mind tell me wheres the place that no banks at all but has MOBILes?wondering if there are such place lol .bitcoin will be the currency for the whole world maybe not now but in future and that would be my stand no matter what happen

It is not just Africa but all around the world we are seeing slowly but surely they are starting to accept cryptocurrencies which once they rejected so it is very positive sign that slowly they are accepting the fact that crypto is the future of payments, transfers, remittance, banking and investing.

Yes, that's the content of the the article but all the same, the story of cryptocurrency start with Bitcoin but it won't end with it and as the adoption of Bitcoin increases globally, it will have a positive impact on the entire industry, so it is still a good news for altcoins also.

There is nothing really you can do to avoid inflaiton in africa there except to save your money into different currency. Their inflation has lately becoming crazy take a look at venezuela’s inflation it is like their money worth nothing, so making movement to save yor wealth in form of bitcoin is not a bad idea.

Not only Africa, it is going to happen on all the countries who have weak currency. Citizen of these countries always like to preserve/earn currency that is better than their currency.

I can tell you categorically that virtually 50% of bankers and most online users are crypto freak and they also use their cryptocurrency for transactions, they buy into the idea of currency than just investment.

Indeed good news for the whole crypto community including traders and bounty hunters. Despite difficulties and troubles on its way, cryptocurrency is moving ahead overcoming such obstacles. Going by the history, any invention that has good purpose and is to make changes in the lives of the whole people has to do much struggles to exist and win. Cryptocurrency is also in the same situation now. However, it is being accepted gradually by the whole world.

Recently, I hear a lot about cryptocurrency from various sources. And it makes me very happy. It's nice to know that we continue to build our cryptocurrency industry and in the future it will be even better. I know that many banks in the USA have implemented a blockchain system and use XRP tokens.

This coin they are developing will really go a long way since it has to do with telecommunication, when it comes to telecom, Africa is really freak about it and they make calls a lot, and coming from South Africa, they have really had very great record in holding on to projects and getting it monopolized in some of the African countries they go, using DSTV as reference.

So, if they can get these project monopolized too, it will gain attention of lots of African citizens which will create cryptocurrency awareness to them to. I really see a very promising future for the cryptocurrency with lots of projects that are being developed with the blockchain technology.

There's massive growth of crypto adoption in Africa. The major problem Africa has is Crypto-fiat exchanges, and the little available placed some restrictions to control money laundering. Although a fairly vast population are in doubts because of the early 2018 crash of crypto.

Africa is seriously not left behind in the adoption of crypto currency, the volume of adoption coming from Africa, especially the largest countries there are so high in number and I am sure if we are to calculate their own percentage contribution from the market cap, it should get to at least 10%, although that figure is not fact.

The only thing I have not yet seen from Africa is ICO, which these scam things are not from that part. The only project I have heard of which I didn’t participate in the campaign is one AFCASH I think, they are not completely developed from Africa but I think they have something related to Africa.

We have been listening about China and Ecuador and many other companies that they have banned it or they do not want to accept it as a payment system but this technology is just unstoppable. This is the reason Microsoft which in the start was not in the mood to use Bitcoin as a mood of payment had already recognized Bitcoin and is using it. With the passage of time, as the benefits get disclosed upon people, they will accept it. It is great to know about Africa’s affinity with blockchain.

Africans have always been aware about crypto and have always been making use of it for the past few years, there came a point in time that an african company known by the name Nigeria was the 3rd largest country that traded crypto as some point in 2017.

Hence, Africans has always been aware about crypto, one thing I know about Africans is that they love to adopt real technology quickly, though not the government but their citizens, the government always think about what they have to gain before adopting any technology.

That maybe their way out of economic crisis, just like what Brazil is doing. They are adopting cryptocurrency and even creating new one. In that way, mass crypto adoption will be possible, and africa looks talking advantage of it.

Nigeria is a great country that you can really trust with things like these, especially their citizens, although I learnt that their government is selfish and care more about themselves, that is why I feel the African government may not really buy into crypto, since they believe that it may really not favor them or be able to exploit people through it.

I am glad that Nigerians are adopting it and if the 3rd largest country can do, then other African countries might follow its part too, seeing them as the giant of Africa I head that they are. So, crypto will really grow a lot in Africa.
