Hi guys, I have downloaded the new bitcoin client 0.8.6 and it says 126 weeks behind where the synchronize bit is.
Stupidly, I had already sent a small amount of coin to the address in the wallet before seeing this 126weeks behind thing.
It has several confirmations on the blockchain but no sign in my wallet.

I don't know if I have done something wrong or what but any advice, I sure would be greatful.

Just wait longer you wallet need to sync.

If they are showing as confirmed then they will show up when your wallet catches up.  Your wallet should slowly catch-up but you need to leave it running for some time.

If you cannot wait until the sync, you can do alternative way.

Just backup your wallet, and create a online wallet at any online wallet service like blockchain wallet and import the wallet into there. Then, you can send and receive bitcoins without need to wait for sync.

When total sync is done, then you can use it again. This  is the solution to avoid wasting time.

When I began I had the same problem.

So I decided a professional do my wallet business for me, I decided to use Blockchain.info for it.  I found it more trusting than having me run BitcoinQT, my pc could of easily get hack using a Trojan to steel my btc or the computer crash.

When you're done, install Multibit and transfer your btc.

Yea your wallet needs to sync all the blocks

It literally took like four days guys. Absolute madness, all god now though.  What is mulibit though??  :o

Great to Hear that. Multibit is also an wallet site, they provide secure wallet.

If syncing your Bitcoin client is taking too long for your liking you may be better off using a Bitcoin client that uses the SPV protocol. These clients do not require you to maintain a full copy of the blockchain - they sync almost immediately.

Two popular SPV clients are Electrum and Multibit.

One thing to note with SPV clients is that you need to trust the nodes your client is connecting to more than with Bitcoin Core. Its possible for nodes to "hold back" transactions and not tell you about them. They cannot fake transactions, only not tell you about them. The newer versions of Electrum connect to more than 1 node which mitigates this risk as all of the nodes would have to "hold back" the same transaction as well.

Yes because its starts from nearly 260 or 270 weeks and after half way its take some time

Next time download the blockchain torrent, you will be running in hours in stead of days.
