Title: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts
Post by: bobthegrownup on April 22, 2019, 06:56:16 PM
Ethereum Classic is a project to keep the original censorship-resistant, immutable, decentralized Ethereum

Developers will be building on our immutable chain, are you ready? Code is law.

Ideology

We believe in decentralized, censorship-resistant, permissionless, IMMUTABLE blockchains. We believe in the original vision of Ethereum as a world computer you can't shut down, running irreversible smart contracts. We believe in a strong separation of concerns, where system forks are only possible in order to correct actual platform bugs, not to bail out failed contracts and special interests. We believe in censorship-resistant platform that can be actually trusted - by anyone. Code is law.

More: https://medium.com/@bit_novosti/a-crypto-decentralist-manifesto-6ba1fa0b9ede

Motivation

Ethereum Foundation responded to DAO debacle in the worst way possible. Special interests controlling the Foundation are ramming through DAO bailout hardfork against principled opposition of a significant economic minority of Ethereum stakeholders. According to (diligently hidden, pro-fork) coin vote on Carbonvote (http://carbonvote.com/), 19% of ETH holders oppose this hardfork. Also, about 22% of Ethereum miners voted against the previous 'DAO softfork' and would logically oppose hardfork as well. Such a significant minority of stakeholders should not be silenced or intimidated into submission - they should be given a clear choice.

If we want to continue to move forward and guarantee survival of the original Ethereum vision, we must fork Ethereum. This will lay the foundation to build secure decentralized applications that are actually censorship resistant.

More: https://github.com/ethereumclassic/freeworldcomputer-project

Goals

The main goal of the project is to ensure survival of the original Ethereum blockchain. We will strive to provide alternative for people who strongly disagree with DAO bailout and the direction Ethereum Foundation is taking their project. Anyone opting to remain on the original chain should have such opportunity.

Development

We fork Ethereum and maintain upstream patches similar to the relation between Redhat and CentOS, until a community can form around the project and create a road map. Until this happens we can fork multiple existing clients to help prevent a monoculture of clients. We plan to follow https://github.com/ethereum development except for any features they introduce into existing clients that violate the key principles of openness, neutrality and immutability.

Code: https://github.com/ethereumclassic

What can I do?

Please help us spread the word about this project in Ethereum community!

Volunteers

If you feel strongly about the cause, please get involved. With just days before the planned hardfork, we need your support to ensure original Ethereum survival. We need more developers, website designers, people who can write and advocate the need for Ethereum Classic. Please let us know what are your skills and how you would like to contribute. Redditors, please reply here (https://reddit.com/r/EthereumClassic/comments/4sxupj/making_sure_original_ethereum_survives_please_get/). Github users, please open new issue (https://github.com/ethereumclassic).

Users

In order to remain on the original Ethereum chain, just don't upgrade to hardfork client version pushed by Ethereum Foundation. We will maintain non-fork versions of all major Ethereum clients (as well as other key software), so going forwards all the improvements will be available to you.

Fun fact. If you keep ETH under your direct control (not in a 3rd party wallet or exchange account), you will have two sets of coins instead of one post-fork. You could then install a forked Ethereum client in addition to Ethereum Classic, copy your private keys there and use your coins on both chains! You won't be so lucky if your ETH are locked with 3rd party going into the fork - some exchanges already announced (https://reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/4sy7w6/breaking_kraken_on_the_july_20th_ethereum/) that they will only return one type of coin post-fork to its users.

Miners

Miners supporting the original chain should just keep mining with current version of software for now, without upgrading to client version introducing the hardfork code. It will be always possible to download and build latest non-fork version from https://github.com/ethereumclassic.

The difficulty of the original chain will be quite high post-fork, but it will adjust to actual hashrate shortly (just 2048 blocks, a few hours). Since it is expected that most hashrate will move to hardfoked chain, post-adjustment it will be possible to obtain decent mining rewards in classic ethers even with solo mining.

Because the difficulty adjusts quickly, it will be also quite possible to solo mine soon after the fork. If you intend to mine Ethereum Classic, please don't upgrade to geth 1.4.10 just yet, due to potential vulnerability (https://www.reddit.com/r/EthereumClassic/comments/4ti33y/classic_miners_please_use_geth_149/). We will inform you when it's safe to upgrade. For now, just solo-mine with geth 1.4.9 or any earlier version, or use Classic pool.

Traders

https://bitsquare.io/

Most important question for traders is 'will ETHC have market price'? There are all reasons to believe that it will. Essentially, ETHC is an Ethereum 'spinoff coin' with a wide user base of all current ETH users. Some of them will see the value of transacting on a censorship-resistant chain, some won't. This creates interesting arbitrage opportunities for smart traders. Additional reasoning why EHTC is very unlikely to be 'worthless' (https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/4sxwo3/ethereum_classic_keep_original/d5dawgg).

Both Poloniex and Bitfinex announced that they will assign their users both ETH and ETHC after the fork. This is a step in the right direction, now it's up to these major exchanges to enable ETH/ETHC trading that will no doubt be demanded by users. Decentralized exchange Bitsquare announced ETHC trading (https://www.reddit.com/r/EthereumClassic/comments/4t30qf/bitsquare_will_add_ethc_trading_immediately/) right after the fork. Other trading venues will follow since there is a strong business case. We are in touch with several other exchanges to add ETHC trading to their platforms. If your exchange is interested in ETHC trading, please contact us (bitnovosti@gmail.com).

Let's make sure original Ethereum vision doesn't just "go gentle into that good night (https://www.poets.org/poetsorg/poem/do-not-go-gentle-good-night)"!

The Ethereum Classic stays true to the immutability philosophy of blockchain which is for me a big factor for blockchain fundamentals. After all that happened, ETC survived and came back with a vengeance. It's really an inspiration!

I heard ETC is into dApps lately. It's good to have some working dApp in every blockchain to maximize usability. The original Etherium on the move.

I don't know they have created a new thread of ETC, but we already know now potential ETC is going to be because team members are very much happy to help the community due to recent negative activity the price is not increasing.

I think "new management" isn't a concept that ever will be part of Ethereum Classic, but I do know that ETCDEV funding issues reported back in December are no longer an issue, with ETC Labs hiring multiple members of that team and also adding new developers.

My two cents - The excitement comes from renewed sources of funding, accelerated development (look at Kotti, OpenRPC, and the Atlantics hardfork), and the ETC Labs accelerator promoting more dapp and tooling development on ETC (check out Ethernode)

Are all  the devs  new or just added some new devs to some projects? I think some have been there for a while now.
I like how other roadmaps and accomplishments are so detailed in one of the medium post.

During the latest AMA in discord, the 2nd one if I remember it correctly, are there new candidates for startup funding? I might have not seen the reports on that.

From what I know, there should be one and the only global telegram group which will also act as support center. Yes anyone can create tg but based on local level, globally there should be one.

Anyway, its gone, am done and dusted in that group, will find another way of sharing ETC news, thank you

Developers will be building on our immutable chain, are you ready? Code is law.

Very true, consider this wonderful news here -> https://cryptwerk.com/pay-with/etc/

All the top companies accepting Ethereum classic can internationally as well as locally be reached.

So, the more local, the easily reachable from different ethnic groups, hence mass adaption

Rumor is circulating about ETH/ETC collaboration. It does make sense since ETC is working into some tweaks that might be the solution for the forked coin ETH scalability itself.

Do you have any local groups in telegram? If yes let us know, if no one, do you plan for this?

Why you should encourage local tg groups? They help in easy reach worldwide as many ppl on the globe will have easy access and locally

That sounds a good idea Violin8, it would be much easier for other non english speaking community to communicate efficiently and effectively under ETC local telegram group. I've seen several blockchain projects that supports local Tg groups and it is doing well for the entire project.

Very true, consider this wonderful news here -> https://cryptwerk.com/pay-with/etc/

All the top companies accepting Ethereum classic can internationally as well as locally be reached.

So, the more local, the easily reachable from different ethnic groups, hence mass adaption
[/quote]

Wonderful website.. this is one way for mass adoption. ETC now is really interesting and has a lot of potential.

New thread ? ETC is still being worked on ?

Oh yes, ETC is currently working on something bigger l. 11 dApps and countting on their radar. Check it out

Rumor is circulating about ETH/ETC collaboration. It does make sense since ETC is working into some tweaks that might be the solution for the forked coin ETH scalability itself.

See the links for reference; https://twitter.com/virgilgr/status/1123270747005247489

Interesting.

Good news by the way, let the rumors circulate, buy rumors and sell news

Anyone can create a telegram. There's no official admins.

Can I create a telegram group and release the link here?
As long as anyone can do, yes just go for it. Nice one

Can I add you as a friend on TG? This makes it easy to create a telegram group.

lmao ETC so rekt (for how old it is) they need to relaunch it now?

SHAMEEE SHAMMMEEE SHAAAMMEEE lol

never touching this again.

All coins are rekt. It depends on ones perspective how you will value one coin over others.

Agree with you  sir, most of coins are rekt compared to last year. However, ETC today is gaining more attention towards its authentic vision.

Yes many people who have knew about the decentralize, immutable and unstopable, that's main point' of ethereum classic blockchain. So the community will choose ethereum classic than other blockchain technology and the amazing of ethereum classic is solid community (the miners, investors and the developer of team) in it. ETC is like bitcoin in the development, i like this coins and will have potential for couples years later. And i always choose potential of cryptocurrencies for long term investment.

I think the community is old but ETC is still progressing in tech. I can see many collabs in etc discord.

I wonder why some community chose to not believe in this project. Q2 and Q3 developments will hope to be even better than all the years combined.

ETH is leaving POW ( coming to POS ) and ETC and btc remains the same. What more is there? originality aND more developments are ready. Projects are lined up improving itself. Only time will tell then.

You are right, at this moments only the best projects will survive. The price now does not matter when the bull market will be run -  tech/projects will be grow in price too. In the present conditions it is difficult psychologically, everything has depreciated to the utmost, but it is necessary to maintain calm and indifference.

So true, there's a lot of drama on ETC history in it's early stage. However, all these were repelled by the constant development of the project.  ETC is one hell  of a fighter, stands back from the ground with Satoshi Nakamoto's true vision for Cryptocurrencies.

1. True, but at least it requires 12x more cost than Ethereum Classic to be re-written. Remember the recent 51% attack on ETC?

2. I'd like to know some reasons for that.

3. Ehmmm... Ain't the "founder" of ETH also the founder of ETC? ::)

So don't you think that scalability can be solved with the current Ethereum blockchain? Why do you expect the transition to POS likely to be a disaster? As for your third point, well, he is quite genius.

ETH is already 32 times higher than ETC.

ETC price keeps falling harder than ETH , is that normal ?

it's all "normal", all alts can fall to zero (0), cause BTC Dominance is almost  ~70%

Today ETC went on the price level instead of ETH which down with super speed. BTC dominance is great but look on the ETC price chart: stay near $6. Few coins showed the same result. And in the every case ETC price goes hardly

jeah, the stability of ETC on the USD pair is let's call it "stable"
this is a continuous stabilization of ETC on ~6$, but is falling on the BTC pair, as all alts do...

I assume you meant a hardfork on that date? I have a very small amount of ETC but really haven't followed the coin that closely. What changes are planned for this fork?

I also assume major wallets will be able to handle the fork change on their own, so we can just leave our coins where they are with no worries?

^^^--- added to post.

I thought Atlantis was a month ago and was only to add functionality eth already has?

Quote
Add support for a subset of protocol-impacting changes introduced in the Ethereum Foundation (ETH) network via the Spurious Dragon and Byzantium hardforks. The proposed changes for Ethereum Classic’s Atlantis upgrade include:

    Spurious Dragon state-trie clearing.
    Spurious Dragon contract-code size limit.
Byzantium EVM opcodes, namely REVERT, RETURNDATASIZE, RETURNDATACOPY, and STATICCALL.
Byzantium EVM precompiled contracts, namely addition and scalar multiplication on the elliptic curve alt_bn128, optimal ate pairing check on the elliptic curve alt_bn128, and BIGINT modular exponentiation.
Replacing the intermediate state root field in transaction receipts with the contract return status.
Change difficulty adjustment to target mean block time including uncle.

I don't see why this would create a run.

Is there a speculation thread?

I have the changes quoted above.

I too thought the fork already occurred, and based on the changes you mentioned, don't really see it as a reason for a run. Then again, lesser things have driven coins up, so maybe it's enough. Or there is something being added we are missing.

I think a dev or someone related to the coin also made some comment about a namechange? Not sure if it was a serious consideration or not, but I guess that could be a reason too.

No there will be no Chain Hard Fork it is only adding functionality.

This is what makes ETC ETC, it is immutable, if they change the chain then it is just like ETH, a shitcoin.

Ye, you're right. Hardfork will but without new coin. Qualitative changes only. But people loves hardfork. That's why Binance offers for their lending platform ETC as one of the first coins. Not so much but 7% annual. I think CZ think that they should have more liquidity for ETC in the nearest time

Okay. The proposed algorithm change of ETC is my concern. It should be most miners' concern actually. So ProgPoW is not favorable for the devs. And Sha3 and sticking with EtHash is what's left to be decided upon. I'm not so familiar about Sha3. As a GPU miner, and I'm sure most ETC miners mine with GPU, Sha3 is not favorable to us. Or will it be? Correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, it could be that the ETC will return to what it was two years ago, at that time I could be quite successful in holding a few hundred coins to sell and make a lot of profit.

There will be choices, but I think that rhe easier switch coin to mine will be ETC
So, those miners, will sell the mined coins at a prive that has cover the expenses, so, thinking that way, ETC has to rise in price a lot
I thing that under the 5$ margin, all prices are a great deal on sale to buy some ETC and wait the right spike

What's going on with ETC...?  It's being bought up and traders are loving it the past week or so.

Maybe we want to change the trend that has happened so far, we know that the market is weak and we rarely encounter trading activities, it might just be my opinion.

Traders are buying it for good reason! This year we will have an epic rally imho 😎
When I see the eth/etc ratio at 29-30 I’m like 😂
I’m increasing my allocation and I think I’m not alone !

The Eth/Etc ratio is now around 17 after the 30% rally!
Good start but I'm thinking Etc/Eth 3-5 ratio in the future...
Any guesses?
I'm thinking 800$ Etc by 2021 maybe 4000$ 2023

Hello Ethereum Classic community!

I have put together an article on recent and upcoming developments for the Ethereum Classic ecosystem.

It covers the following topics:

SafePal Partnership
RoundlyX Supports Ethereum Classic
UNICEF Contribution
Hashrate Spike
Huobi ETC/HUSD Trading
Agharta Upgrade is a Success
Network Health

The full article can be found  here  (https://fintoism.com/news/cryptocurrency/ethereum-classic-news-1-safepal-roundlyx-unicef-hashrate-huobi-agharta-network-health/)

Feedback is welcome, and feel free to share the article - or this Reddit link - on social media!

This will be the first of - hopefully- multiple ETC-oriented articles on the website this year.

Yeah, I was happy when I saw that announcement on Twitter. I like trading on Basefex, they have nice tools and pleasing design, but I'm not really happy with the pairs they have. Now it's getting better tbh

You can mine Ethereum Classic at autoexchange mining pool Zergpool.com (http://Zergpool.com) at 0.5% fee. Please use following commands for different mining options

Option 1 Auto coin switch mining by profitability within algorithm with autoexchange to specified coin wallet(BTC in example below)
Code:
 EthDcrMiner64.exe -di 01 -allpools 1 -platform 2 -mport - -epool ethash.mine.zergpool.com:9999 -ewal <YOURBTCWALLET> -epsw c=BTC

Option 2 Direct coin mining with payout to coin wallet
Code:
 EthDcrMiner64.exe -di 01 -allpools 1 -platform 2 -mport - -epool ethash.mine.zergpool.com:9999 -ewal <YOURETCWALLET> -epsw c=ETC,mc=ETC

Option 3 Direct coin mining with autoexchange to specified coin wallet(BTC in example below)
Code:
 EthDcrMiner64.exe -di 01 -allpools 1 -platform 2 -mport - -epool ethash.mine.zergpool.com:9999 -ewal <YOURBTCWALLET> -epsw c=BTC,mc=ETC

Please note mc stands for mining coin symbol, c stand for payout coin symbol

Autoexchange to BTC, LTC, DASH, BCH, DOGE or any other currency we mine
Happy mining,
 cheers pinpin

I hope they will provide accurate information about what we have to do, I think we need to hold in ETC wallets and there are some exchanges that will support the ETC coins, there are some active members who are giving answers in Discord, I hope we can hold them in the ETC wallets.

Yes, ETC develoPers keep active and I think soon this coin will have a similar price like ETH. ETC has an advantage over ETH which apparently is more decentralization.

users have to do nothing special regarding this implementation, see more info about this here -> https://etherplan.com/2020/02/05/ethereum-classic-aztlan-phoenix-upgrades-set-to-activate-on-block-10500839-estimated-on-june-10th-2020/9901/#.XjzokfmO7tI.twitter

Hi,
According to Ethereum developer Afri Schoedon, Ethereum Classic and Ethereum are now 100% interoperable and both blockchains have reached protocol parity.
What does the future of ETC look like?
Will many investors invest in ETC because ETC is currently cheap and fast compared to ETH?
what is your price forecast for ETC in the next few years?

I mean of course ETC is decentralized like BTC so more stable and changes happen slower.

Pardon my ignorance, who is Afri Schoedon? I realize he is a developer but hell, I bet nobody has heard about him before u posted this. Probably another piece of street meat exported from Thai slammer, tasked with dealing with peripheral stuff in ethereum's office, not directly related to ethereum itself. He is a sissy boy, a coffee fetcher, a garson, an errand boy, a scapegoat. His opinion should be kept tightly between his thighs. End of story.

Anyone know which exchanges still accept deposits and withdraws for ETC? It seems since these 3 attacks that many exchanges disabled one or the other. And many are considering delisting the coin due to all these attacks.

Seems that all these attacks are due to Nicehash, really wish they could find some solution to prevent someone renting all this hash and pointing it to ETC. Really hope this coin doesn't go down in history because I actually liked it alot however I am surprised of all these 51% attacks recently.

I checked and you can deposit ETC on Kucoin, but it needs 40 000 confirmations.
It says that on Kraken is needed 80 640 confirmations ~2 weeks (https://support.kraken.com/hc/en-us/articles/203325283-Cryptocurrency-deposit-processing-times (https://support.kraken.com/hc/en-us/articles/203325283-Cryptocurrency-deposit-processing-times))
I didn't check other exchanges, but probably on most of them is the same.
I am thinking of selling all my ETC because if exchanges start delisting it, price will drop a lot.

Another huge 51% attack today on ETC. Please move on, delist and bury this thing for good. No one needs it, nothing develop on it and it's not just crippling itself but also the entire crypto space...

Seems to have been used as an excuse to push an algo change to an asic only SHA3 that doesnt even have readily available miners

Theyre wanting to cash in on easy difficulty on the algo change

Many are seeing right through the nonsense and I think the GPU chain will continue on and be the more legit chain

As long as there are those that believe in the project the devs (and their miners) can milk them dry!
Just riding on the "Ethereum" name for now...
Clever devs saw a gap and got in early with the name, as for the rest, its just another crap project with nothing to offer.

In the end of November ETC will decrease DAG size up to 195 epoch. A lot of GTX1063 will increase overall hashrate of the network and will improve resistance from 51% attack.

That’s a good strategy, and lot of old cards 3gb, even 4gb will become profitable again
I’m courios what will be the price movement after that scenario, what do you think?

This hard fork (update) will attract more miners with old GPUs, the 3GB and 4GB series will be able to mine ETC for a while, that’s good cause ETC needs a spike in hashrate asap

Why were so many network updates made to make the coin cheaper?
Doesn't anyone really need this coin or is it being gradually destroyed by Vitalik?
Who hires hackers for attacks 51%, why are they attacking our coin and not some others?
He hates this coin because it is original and his coin is a fork, but is our community to blame for this?
He himself decided this was his choice, so let him step aside and do not interfere with our development!
I don't believe that he had nothing to do with the fact that our coin is now so cheap.

What the hell is going on? Can someone explain this?

He probably plans to take us aboard his ship, and the cheaper our coin is, the better for him, although everyone hopes that compensation in the event of the merger will be one to one.
Well, if he doesn't take us on board, then he will be worse. The story of how he made a fork and violated the law of irreversibility of transactions will haunt him for the rest of his life :-)

I don't know what plans Vitalik has, but I think that unfortunately the ETC development team is not doing anything to promote and develop this currency. Why did they lose interest? Do they know something we don't know? If others could, why couldn't they? Is there a syncope in the ETC blockchain? What is the real reason why this currency not only stays in place but unfortunately decreases against ETH and all other currencies? I am very upset like others in fact and I realize that it was one of the worst placements I have ever made.

I think the ETC team has a good surprise for the entire global crypto community. Spring 2021 will be a new era in the development of the ETC coin, this is an objective reality.

It's pretty simple. Most of the incoming investors do not know why ETC exists and even if they do they don't care. Cryptocurrencies have lost their way. An immutable blockchain is as intrinsic to cryptocurrencies as free speech is to a free country. What pains me about the growth of cryptocurrencies is not the new size of the community, but how the community has changed.

That's what mainstreaming things does to it. You don't get a surge of smart people joining, you get a herd of sheep joining.

The only thing good about these sheep is that they carry the wool. Which are so god damn important.

(wool is money)

I just bought some ETC on Bitfinex and i'm looking to transfer it to a wallet. I'm currently using MetaMask for ETH and backing my wallet up using the private key.

Can I use this same wallet / address to send my ETC to, or will this not work? If not, what wallet would you recommend using to long term store my ETC in?

Thanks!

Successful, yet bereft of integrity. I have come to the conclusion that Ethereum is just like Ripple, a centralized token designed to enrich the founders and insiders. Imagine if Bitcoin had a bailout. Don't we remember when Bitcoin came into existence? Following the financial crisis and the bailouts! A bailout is the very antithesis to cryptocurrencies.

It absolutely has some serious pump potential. It has good exposure to normal investors with Greyscale and Robinhood, it's unfortunately just stuck in that ever declining state (despite the recent increase) that all altcoins tend to be in when they're not going up. ETC just needs to become a hot investment again, if we see $50 we can see $500.

Dont pretend that you know words like bereft lol. Dont make people grill your ass for shamming intelligence because this is not what we go along just fine with. We can brook philippic and criticism but it is in our blood that we (subconsciously) buck high-brow sticklers with semi-whitty rhetoric like you. We will rather subvert the coin and dump our holdings than stay here and associate with people who choke on the mouthful of false pretense spared in their mouth to produce an impression they can read thesaurus.

Ethereum classic shows a true way of blockchaines with impossibility  of them centralized control. But lets try to remember hakers attack several years ago. Stolen blocks were returned, but its stay a possible, when the chain was back rolled.

There is no official windows build/wallet for Ethereum & Classic?

I preferred the official wallets for all coins but could not find which one it is for the Ethereum, sites are badly structured and don't promote mention the official build but only third party builds.

Reading the first page here and visiting GitHub it's only for Linux the full-node official one?
A little bummer that it's limited to Linux and we don't have official core wallet for this as most other coins. Makes entry a little obscured on getting started. More of a hassle than necessary.

I'm concerned with the security of the third party wallets, most are for mobile phones, those things can't be trusted in length or in general.

Truly, Ethereum Classic become talking of the town. Finally, ETC join into the bull trend. I'm looking at etc and I'm like really because better gains in an entire week. At the present time, simply appreciating the ETC show.
Yes, it's a bull trend and the price trend is still going up. Is there anything new to justify this strong appreciation? Even if it's a bull trend, some trigger is needed to justify this strong movement. If ETC were accepted by more people, that is to say that ETC could be a good alternative to ETH surely $500 would be the minimum.

Something fishy going on with ETC on Poloniex, their wallet is down for over two months. my guess is they are insolvent and possibly got hit by one of the 51% attacks while they don't do KYC of their users.

76% of the mining in the world is in Ethereum according to the hiveos statistics. If Ethereum was moving over to POS overnight, miners will need to move over to the smaller coins and crush the profitabillity. A profit decline of at least 3/4 overnight, but probobly more like 7/8

100MHASH ethash 03-17-2022= around $ 3.30 a day

after ETH goes POS

What is a smart contracts platform worth, if there is no security. Ethereum 2.0 will increase the risk significantly.

and currently, ETH probably have more than all other platforms combined

Ethereum Classic is listed on most exchanges and can be used to store and move currency.
Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin doesn't have any smart contracts, but has been proven to be a good and secure investment for the future.

Thats the part I don't understand...why new token creators choose ETH instead ETC blockchain for token launch. You need wallet on exchange for support,
but unlike EXP or UBQ, ETC have a plenty exchanges and much cheaper transactions than ETH

Regarding security, who can tell how secure ETH POS will be? Is there a security calculator somewhere?

ETC total network hashrate is 22T and ETH 1.06P , so ETH is much more secure. That could be one of reasons.
ETC was attacked with 51% more than once. It is like bank with low security vs bank with highest possible security.

But after ETH moves to to 2.0 in a risky move, (kiln fork)

The ETC total network hashrate will skyrocket and Ethereum will be the new low security bank.

Ethereum Classic is up 84% in 1 week now.. Easy money...

When ETH goes POS, there are several possible scenarios and several POW coins where hashpower might go (ETC, RVN, ERGO, ...)

And for those miners who did know, f2pool is offering ZERO fees for Ukrainian miners till the end of the year 2022! Less cost=more profit.

etc sucks donkey balls

barely no coin survives in the bearish trend
but, lucky for the miners, as long as the profit covers the cost, you just keep on mining, selling and withdrawing the money
if someone is searching for mining pools, try f2pool

We have expectations with ethereum on ETH 2.0 ( proof of stake) but nothing from ETC. Have not touched or own ETC in the last 5 years and no reason for purchase or use, not for gas or crowdfunding etc, is it not dangerous for the coin. I dont expect an immediate effect of fifthening on the price of ETC but is the coin improving in holdings?

Mining etc is a good solution because the price rises more than 300% in a month, of course many are sorry for selling when dip, but I'm sure if we buy now then the profit opportunities are still large because I'm sure when the market is recovered then the price of etc can $ 100 or pass through ATH in 2021.

Vitalik correctly said: everyone had to switch from ETH to ETC!
And so everyone was sprayed on different coins and it turned out - zilch!
To earn money on mining, you had to choose one coin!
 ;D ;D ;D ;D

Not really...to earn money from mining, price must go up, or hashrate/difficulty has to go down, simple as that

ETC block reward is about to decrease in 12days, check out the link for the lateset info.BTW, f2pool is one of the world's leading mining pool which supported ETC mining long time ago. More and more miners are turning to ETC,because miners do not have many options after ETH2.0.
https://www.f2pool.com/halving.

Miners are mining for profit, and that's about it.
No I'm buying them.  :)

most miners buy when there  is potential profit

some  are selling the mined coins others hodl and others in the current situation are mining in loss and hodl everything

Ethereum Classic Update ~6 months after the Merge.

  • Ethereum Classic is now the largest proof of work network in the smart contract sector. Due to this paradigm shift, the mining industry seems to be growing rapidly. Network hashrate is bouncing between 120-130 th/s, up from 20 th/s before the Merge.
    https://2miners.com/etc-network-hashrate
  • Many ASIC miners are focusing their marketing efforts on ETC specific miners. Bitmain has allocated $10mm to a public grants program to development on top of Ethereum Classic. It is likely we will continue to see the mining industry adopt Ethereum Classic as their EVM of choice.
    https://etcgrantsdao.io
  • It appears there is the early foundations to a Web3 ecosystem forming on Ethereum Classic. This should increase on-chain activity and add functionality to the ETC asset. As adoption happens here, we should see on-chain activity see exponential growth and sell side pressure decrease.
    https://ethereumclassic.com
  • Off-chain centralized exchange activity routinely highlights ETC as one of the most active assets for this sector by trading volume.
    https://www.coingecko.com/coins/ethereum-classic

It appears stability has returned to Ethereum Classic with the return of its hashrate. The ETH Foundation appears to not be hostile to ETC now that they have moved to PoS. We will see if the principles of the network result in meaningful adoption during this next bull cycle. There is a lot that needs to be built on ETC, but we are seeing the early signs of material investment from the Proof of Work sector coming into the Ethereum Classic ecosystem.

Expectation: ETC is currently in ETH's 2016-2017 maturity stage. However it has the hindsight of watching the EVM space rapidly grow. I expect it catch up to the 2023 narrative in short fashion. However it is notable that there is a lot of infrastructure missing on top of ETC. So it is not as simple as deploying a dapp. Community building and investment similar to what we witnessed with BSC or other EVMs is required to bring it up to date. But ETC is starting with the great reality that it is adopted in a majority of the blockchain space due to ETH forking away from ETC. Any ETH integration was effectively an ETC integration over the years due to the protocol parity maintained from 2016 to 2022.
