if your at loss then you probably bought ethereum at much higher price then the price of ethereum went down, not all exchanges have the same price of each token some may different, some people take advantage of that price different.

Both BTC and ETH rise against USD.
But in terms of BTC against ETH. BTC gained much higher so the value for ETH decrease in terms of ETH/BTC.
Hence you traded at the wrong time.
The good thing is, if you hodl it for long, it will have more value against USD.

If I understand you, you mean to say despite the rise in the Price of bitcoin and ethereuem you balance on binance is still going low, that can be as a result of technical glitch from binance site and if it continues then you contact binance support for help on how that can be fixed.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with binance system but it is more about his confusion about his trading activity.

@OP Could you please give more details especially about the price when you bought the ETH using your BTC as well as the value of both coins in USD when you did it? Also the price when you see that you are in -10%?
It is easy to calculate when you have the details of the exact price especially in terms of USD.

Sometimes there's a significant connection of bitcoin to other altcoins. When it rises up, alts are following as well. Later on, your losses will recover with Ethereum when it finally follow the whole move of bitcoin. There will be times that bitcoin is inversely proportional to altcoins and sometimes it is directly proportional. You are new in trading and it is ok for you to experience this kind of move, you must be aware that the market is very volatile and unpredictable.

I concur. Newbies automatically assume that altcoin values will rise when Bitcoin value goes up which is completely wrong. Many altcoins continue to fall in value even with Bitcoin rising back close to $6k at present.

This why they need to research the basics of trading in such a volatile market before investing.

It sounds like you are down relative to bitcoin but not the USD. Some people here think that bitcoin is the only solid cryptocurrency. I disagree, and I think ETH is very promising. Nonethless, I agree with the general sentiment that bitcoin will remain number one.

Day trading is not for everybody. So if you want to earn money by converting coins one into another repeatedly, you better stop wasting money and start looking around more carefully. And learn as much as you can. It could take more than a year. Then you can try playing with really small amounts to see how it works.
-or-
The simple option is holding. If you believe that Ethereum will go 200%, 500%, whatever, buy and hold. On long term (years!) this 10% loss will not matter.
If you have doubts about Ethereum, pick another coin. But do proper research before investing. And invest based on your knowledge, not because some unknown people over internet advertise it. And invest only money you afford to lose (clearly not a loan). Also diversifying between multiple coins (and non-crypto assets too) could be a good idea if you have funds for it.

The confusion here us because ETH price is based on BTC price, so if BTC goes up and ETH don't change, then ETH goes up with bitcoin, but if BTC goes up but ETH goes down, that's why you have -10% now, the cool part about this is when both of them goes up, because the % is accumulative.

That's right, that is arbitration. One way for traders to get profits briefly and only by relying on price differences between exchanges, but remember that arbitration also has risks, especially in delivery time because the longer the delivery time, the greater the possibility that the price in the exchange we are going to change will change.

Some times an increase in the value of Bitcoin will not increase the market value of ethereum though not at all time but just that things are not working the way you expect. The best decision you should have made is that, you should have convert some of your Bitcoin to Binance for that alone would have put smile in your face.

In as much that Bitcoin is trade against Ethereum or paired to each other , an increase in the price of Bitcoin does not directly influence Ethereum. Majority of daily trader in the crypto space trade bitcoin and Ethereum directly with either USDT or USD. That is the actual determant of whether the market value of both cryptocurrencies will increase or decrease.  Bitcoin can increase in market value at the same time Ethereum can also decrease in its market value...

That's maybe because price of both when compared to USD is increasing but, the increasing price of BTC/USD is higher than ETH/USD (like BTC/USD increased 5% and ETH/USD increased 2%) that's why you are loosing your ETH/BTC. In the current market condition, Bitcoin price is a little bit fluctuating and yet to be stable (the price is always moving), therefore the best way is to only keep BTC to avoid altcoins dump if BTC pumped.

You lack the fundamentals of trading in a working way
you do not understand the relationship between btc and altcoin
you must first learn well so that you do not lose your money
stop trading immediately and go to YouTube and watch episodes of technical analysis sessions
this is the beginning.

It not totally a wrong move or waste investment since the two both experience surge on price.

That's the dynamism of cryptocurrency, when Bitcoin is going high some other coins tend to go downward. This is as a result of volatility of cryptocurrency.

Well, it not about the dynamism of crypto currency as you said because the decision of the arbitrages crypto traders is what usually determine if altcoin will dump in price while Bitcoin surge.

Since you are trading EthBtc pair, you should not be concern of $  value of your coin. Focus on its bitcoin value. Since bitcoin is rapidly gaining value, your eth is losing against bitcoin.. You can still salvage this by trading eth to usd then buying bitcoin with usd. Let the bull run its course and convert to usd when its on its peak.

It seems that the value of your Ethereum is shown compared with bitcoin value and not with USD value so its useless to make calculations based on the price of bitcoin and Ethereum in USD. The right move should have probably been to first exchange your bitcoin to USD and then buy Ethereum so that the value of your coins move directly with the market.

Some answer is great then the other aren' sorry do not be offend because investibg in bitcoin eth or any kind of altcoins are not wasting time thats is negative answer mate because investing in crypto need to always think positive then do not use emotion and be patience.

By the way the generak answer of the op question is because of high volatile movement of each coin and increase rheir price value is depends  in the market demands.

It isn't specific with Binance, whatever exchange you've used for such an investment you could have felt the same thing. The market is something different from common form of trade. The volatility Wil be high and to the same is the profiting. As you're new to the trading platform have patience and watch the market to make better decisions further.

that has been the thing that happens to altcoins every time bitcoin price rises, they simply get dumped hard since investors (traders) cash out from altcoins to go back to bitcoin market.
this comes from the fact that the purpose of majority of altcoins is to be pumped and dumped and traded during that time so that bitcoin owners can increase the amount of bitcoin they own. the coins on top like ETH are the biggest ones that match this description.

My question is, did you sell your eth right now? If not, then you are not really losing because you still have ethereum in your wallet although the fact you see that your investment value is down let's say 10%. As long as you are not selling in when the eth price is down, then you will have a chance to see the eth price will increase later.
My advice will be held eth for a long-term, but you can sell ethereum if the price can reach a higher price than the price you bought so you can take the profit.

First you need to understand bitcoin value and usd value of eth, when eth price drops bitcoins do pump and when bitcoin pump  eth price in usd increases together with the bitcoin but bitcoin value of eth gets lower because of bitcoin is gaining price in usd.Simple trading thing you need to know you lose bitcoin value but win on usd value

If yoy are a beginner,  you shouldn't care too much the daily price and you should not be interested in trading,  but more on holding for middle-long term.

For crypto, unless you have at least $10k to drop on crypto per trade, you're not going to be pulling 1k per month profit. You'll likely have some success when market swings up, but eventually you'll get stuck at some high level.

I read some of the previews reply saying its the wrong move and bitcoins and ethereum are diferent etc...

So what may I write can be the same as other some might be different but here, I hope it will help others basing on my problems and conclusions from the experience I obtain when I got myself into holding bitcoin. Also same as my observations for the market value of crypto currency.

LESSONS AND MY OBSERVATIONS

Top 3

1. Yes it is right that bitcoin and ethereum are different and sometimes going up together up and down.
So, from what I know before that eth can follow bitcoin market increase value but I was wrong now bitcoin value is rising a bit, as of today and while for ethereum, its not.

When you invest/buy bitcoin you possible think that ethereum will be the same but not it can be bumping up and the others are down. So yes the right thing to do is to study the market like evry other company when the value is low buy and wait.

For me with you dont understand  it my lesson was study it because when you study about the crypto currency market you can use it out of the computer which is the market that is paper money/the companies investment value.

2. I have alt coin and Iam patient with it but sometimes I feel like selling it because of now it is really down the moon and rising a bit.

Being patient is need and smart is needed and being ready for sacrifices like the value of a certain altcoin may go shitcoin.

3. Accepting defeat and learn from it to make good decisions in the future when it is possible related to any investment strategies.

You are not at a loss unless you withdraw your investment. You do not have to panic and you have to wait until you're on the profit. Investing in crypto is a long-term investment, so you only have to invest the money you can afford to lose. Both Bitcoin and Ethereum have a great potential, so these price oscillations should not worry you.

When the bitcoin price moves fast, all coins, including ETH, continue with loss. But soon there will be a recovery. Nevertheless, you must always be careful. Bitcoin can sometimes make hard moves one after one.

I agree.  Bitcoin bye is so unpredictable that it can grow and fall in one day.  And in the wake of them, other coins are pulled to the bottom or up.

Like me before, I thought that the pattern would always be bitcoin + == altcoins + but that's not the pattern most of the time. For somebody who has invested to bitcoin, you don't have to think on how the altcoins market move because they are into bitcoin's move. And that's when the unpredictable status comes.

It happens buddy! Sometimes the upward movement of a major coin like Bitcoin may not quickly affect others. So calm down,  it's nothing to really worry about
Most newly invested folks would worry about this but it's fine as long as they learn from that.

That's the volatility of the cryptocurrency market if bitcoin price goes up it doesn't mean that other coins like ETH will follow, you probably trade at the wrong time and bought ETH when the price is about to go down. I think it's better for you to hold because it will go up in the future.

Sometimes it follow but not right away, maybe we need to see more increase of bitcoin for ETH to follow and same with other altcoins.

you probably trade at the wrong time and bought ETH when the price is about to go down. I think it's better for you to hold because it will go up in the future.

I have faith with ETH and its devs, price maybe too low now and we cannot sell so we are force to hold, selling at a loss would not help us succeed.
ETH has proven it could pump over $1,000, so being patient is necessary, eventually things will change and it will start its uptrend.

a little advice, it's good before investing or trading, you must first understand what you are going to do, so you can understand what causes prices to change, sometimes going up and sometimes going down. and the most influencing price is supply and demand. and why the price of Altcoin like Ethereum is influenced by Bitcoin, the answer is because Bitcoin is a benchmark. I think its about fluctuation. You bought ethereum by bitcoin and when you bought it at its price it drops and then later you found out that you still lose, yes because the price of ethereum went down, i suggest that to be able to recover what you lose, just hodl for now and sell or trade it in a profitable time.

buying ETH with BTC is a good decision. ETH value is still low. and that is our chance to buy more ETH assets before the ETH returns to reach $ 1000 like in 2017. if the BTC pump, then ETH will also pump. BTC estimates will again reach 20K. and ETH will return to the price of $ 1000.

I can sense you traded at the wrong period with low in depth in trading. trading is for the experienced and for those who can sense and differentiate between the bearish and bullish market. there is time for buying and there is time for selling. I suggest if you're interested in trading, please get someone with experience to lecture you more before you lose everything on the market.

Ethereum always loss against the bitcoin. I always prefer to keep my fund in bitcoin and not even USDT, what happened in your case is that ethereum loss low while bitcoin was rising, it didn't rise along with bitcoin. Sometimes it can be wise to just buy some few stakes in ETH and other altcoins and hold a higher percentage in bitcoin, I trust bitcoin more than any other coin in the market.

Hi im new and my english is poor but i want to explain my question

I use binance and i bought Eth with my btc

thenwhen btc raise eth go low, but each price went high, i dont understand why this happend.

Right know im - %10, btc raise and eth each price raise but im still going low, why?

Because u see the price ratio in eth/btc , it's looks going lower but actually you have still the same amount in btc and also actually you have more fiat if you convert your btc.
Also sometimes the price of ETH is really going down because of btc bullish, people are selling their ETH to ride BTC to higher level

That is market price volatility for cryptocurrency especially bitcoin and eth. For now, only bitcoin had a high volatility latelt because this is the only crypto that has been originated since Satoshi created this first crypto. Eth is just an altcoin so this is why more users choose to side on bitcoin imstead of eth.

But, you should not worry for ETH will have a high volatility also maybe not for now but in the near future.

Are you understand what trading is ?

Are you understand what investing is ?

If you are not ready for the loss, better stay away from it because you're not reach to join this kind of activity.
Better you keep your money on bank, that much better ( SAFE )  ;)

Bitcoin and Ethereum are cryptocurrency coins that are good to buy or own, but both have different ways of moving and the most important is when you buy them in the right position and at the right time, and everything will be a lesson for you if you are a beginner .
if you are not satisfied with the results of Ethereum because the increase in Bitcoin is much higher because Ethereum is far better to invest in the long term, and if you regret you have to wait Ethereun to rise a little then you sell it to buy bitcoin because bitcoin is much better than the other coins you buy or invest.

I am also not good with my English but I do understand you so you are fine.

Look, you are not the only buyer in the whole crypto currency industry.
There are investors who are also buying ETH which could raise its price in any moment.
Same with other coins specially bitcoin which is used as the main coin for buying other currencies.

It aint the old age anymore where bitcoin up and altcoin down and vice versa.
There is this medium now which is USDT that is being used for escaping certain falls.

I was confudes because on binance right know: 0,030879 - $171.60 ETH /BTC
but when i was buy eth like a week or two week ago it was 0,034000 - $165.00 ETH /BTC

My question was, i bought eth at $165 and right know its $171 but whem im - %10 ?

This happened because bitcoin increased in price, but you still continue to have losses because you are trading ETH/BTC

You should pay close attention to making trade.

you bought ETH when the price was 0.034, and the price drops to 0.03 BTC, so you have losses. (you will have to wait for some day the price to increase above 0.034 BTC for you to sell and make a profit)

And you can also trade  ETH/USDT (this is more profitable and dangerous) because you should control the price of  ETH/BTC

Before investing your money in cryptocurrency you have to know what trouble will be faced, you have ready when your asset is lower and higher price, maybe you have asking first how to start investing with bitcoin and altcoin.

Hodling for a longterm will be the best, so, HODL.

Yeah of course if someone lost from active trading the best advice is to HODL for longterm  ::)

Its because of the value of the currency pair you are at which is BTC. And you are comparing US DOLLAR value. This will really confuse you. If you like looking at the dollar value better use USDT pair. USDT is pegged to dollars so the result of comparing would probably be more of what you like and need.

It's not called a trouble but more appropriately a risk.
Everyone should, because investing comes with a risk, it's just divided into low risk and high risk, pick which of the two you like.
In crypto, I consider it a high risk investment but it's possible to make big profit here, that's why people are risking their money for the future of crypto.

All cryptos move in the same general direction but the btc ratios can change by quiie a lot.  Thats why most  people suggest putting an equal amount of money into the top 10 crypto coins.

You choice bitcoin and eth both are expensive and popular coins, majority of traders invest in both of them. But it is true, once bitcoin go to up and eth price go down, because both are against of dollar. I aware you bitcoin and eth both are best for holding long time, So hold them for a time, i am sure in future both will give you good profit.

At least you are trading with the top coins and not some dead altcoins.  The btc ratio moves a lot and can move 10 percent in a short amount of time, there is a lot of money to be made trading btc ratios if you are patient

It's too hard for me understand OP questions. What I get from your point, you are asking about USD price may be. If you buy eth against btc then don't calculate price on USD. You should check price against btc. And yes, eth dump currently. So you have lose your btc. Because you trade against btc. So you have to wait until recover your buy price. Don't compare with USD since you bought against btc. It will make you confuse. If btc dump against USD, that's not related with ETH price. All altcoin always do not follow bitcoin trend.
