Title: After Galaxy S10, next is Samsung Coin?
Post by: Bttzed03 on April 24, 2019, 03:03:16 PM
Coindesk published a REPORT (https://www.coindesk.com/samsung-developing-ethereum-based-blockchain-may-issue-own-token) that Samsung may soon issue their own token (Samsung Coin). It is still not confirmed yet but news like this are most welcome. Let's see how things unfold.

Currently, we are thinking of private blockchain, though it is not yet confirmed. It could also be public blockchain in the future, but I think it will be hybrid – that is, a combination of public and private blockchains.

Ugh, I hate private blockchains.
It's not what the tech is for.
It's like news vs propaganda.  News was made to inform the public but people take it to make propaganda (which is meant to not inform, but control the public).

These big corps are so far behind and have so little understanding its hilarious.
Yes, we live in a world where megacorporations like disney, samsung, apple, dominate the market.
But unless they adapt the true strengths of blockchain, they will be left in the dust.
The true strengths are open source, publicly distributed, and totally transparent.

Take Blockbuster video for example, the king of vhs and dvd rentals.
They are totally bust now because they were too late in envisioning a world where people could consume their movies and shows online.
They simply weren't on top of tech developments and their implications.

Nothing is confirmed yet and as what's quoted above, it could also become a public blockchain.
It's no denying that they came in a it late but they do have the resources to adapt and catch up fast.

Samsung Coin, Facebook Coin, big corporations are getting ready to create a new revenue stream for their companies by letting the average joe invest is private blockchain and centralized corporate coins (I find it very unlikely that they'll make it a public blockchain, but who knows?)...What's next? Netflix Coin? Starbucks Coin? Are we gonna start seeing an influx of new tokens/coins from the big companies around the globe in the next few years? Maybe shitcoins will no longer pollute the crypto market, corporate cryptocurrencies will take their place :/

Maybe yes, but this will not guarantee that will be a successfull project and maybe they will use it internal and even if will put on sale maybe who own a Samsung phone will buy it.

I think very good news. After all, Samsung has a huge number of users and all of them will be able and most likely will want to own their cryptocurrency, and this is very good for attracting a large flow of people to cryptocurrency.

This is good news if Samsung is actually issuing a coin, it will be the first, Samsung is the first cellphone to issue coins, hopefully this is accurate.

Although I love Samsung and its products I think I will not support this coin if they ever decided to release one on their own. This will be centralized and I think this will just go down like other centralized coin or token that has been released in the market.

Many large companies recognize the benefits of using blockchain, I think that Samsung can already test private blockchain, just does not want to talk about it.

Today or tomorrow, every big giant will gradually come into this. Otherwise, they will not be able to keep up the best in the market. If Samsung comes into the place, that will be huge for the crypto industry. I had a feeling that we will be used cryptocurrency in future as per industry category. Like, for example, medic coin for hospital, facebook coin for ads and so while bitcoin will be the leafing crypto like as USD.

Yet another company or centralized entity trying to jump on board and make it in the news. They don't need a crypto. It is useless for them. Cryptocurrency without decentralization is another paypal and why would they want to be one? If this news is true but I hope it is not.

There are two ways to look at this, I don't like big corporation take over the space because what they want is to take over everything and this si against what the space is all about, but however it give credibility to the space, Facebook and Samsung are big companies and the tumour of Tesla offering ICO is a good thing to the space

I would have liked more if Samsung would have implemented and added already available coins like btc, eth or xrp in their ecosystem i personally do not get the purpose of such a move i mean why such big corporations need their own coin. Coin is just required for funding and when you already have funds then there is not much need of creating a new coin.

I don't see that the private blockchains have anything to do with this space. Private blockchains are highly centralized and against the spirit of the whole decentralized space. I really don't see any point in them.

Yes. We'd start to see it coming for what purpose do they support BTC wallet on their phones as a matter of fact, I can see they may even have their own exchange also. The adoption is almost reachable by a hand. Facebook had started it and we shall see more coins from the big companies like Samsung and perhaps the Amazon as well.

Big corporations are a bit late but they want to have their piece of the pie. Anyway, their appearance means a lot for mass adoption of crypto as they have huge customer base

This is a possibility since Samsung is recently investing in Crypto hardware.

https://cryptocrunchapp.com/news/samsung-invests-29-million-in-crypto-hardware-startup-ledger (https://cryptocrunchapp.com/news/samsung-invests-29-million-in-crypto-hardware-startup-ledger)

They could be open on creating on their own blockchain or another token.

That's a plausible thing since i think they have added a bitcoin wallet to their phone with a reason, to test how it works so further they can add their own crypto wallet to their phones so that people can make blockchain payments using their phones. If you think about it, what they did with galaxy s10 was just an experiment to see how people react and also to test how a crypto wallet would work on their phones

I agree with what you said. I think that by this news of having many corporate cryptos being produced then it will surely drives away the shitcoins out there.  And I bet this corporate cryptos have future on blockchain field for resources they have and their costumer's reputation also.

I think big companies have thought of releasing their own crypto, but until now all have stopped on rumors. Blockchain is a typical achievement for 4.0 technology, so big companies will also capture the trend and application of blockchain technology into their systems.

But to be honest, if there are too many private blockchain, it will greatly affect the goals that blockchain set out from, which is an open source, a public blockchain that anyone can participate in and contribute.

Maybe because their sales drop off and think of a strategy that could boost it anyways. Now they'll gonna have to hire blockchain experts developers to catch up, but even so late, it is better that never. If they could manage to do this and succeed, I think other companies would follow too. They have been always like these, want to be ahead of each other so they would do anything to provide uniqueness and soon all of the electronics companies out there would be blockhain ready.

All these wallet integration and Samsung Coin are just marketing tweak from Samsung. The latter is even just a rumor. Like some people in this thread, I'm quite interested in tech giants going for blockchain but not in this way. JPM coin, Samsung coin... all are worthless up to now. Why not JPM blockchain or Samsung blockchain instead?

When multi-billions companies are taking its step toward cryptocurrency, that will bring a lot of money to the crypto space and demand. But the cons are about they will create a big monopoly in the cryptocurrency.
They have unlimited money and anything looks possible for this company.

They've already utilized the ENJ if I am not mistaken? I think samsung should be clear on this side, launching their own cryptocurrency will not going to be effective if they are confusing their clients and customers. They should have their one word and I think if they want a samsung coin, then so be it. Don't associate other crypto at all.

Well, we can't do anything regarding that matter. Business is business my friend, you should open your eyes that big companies still choose profits over development. So if a particular company offers private blockchain you have two options: learn to deal with it or refuse at all, the choice is yours.

That is right, it looks like we are going to see Samsung coin after all. Maybe that's why they didn't include bitcoin in their wallet integration in the first place because they have their own plans of having their crypto. I'm expecting it to be public blockchain and everyone could invest and trade it. But I'm sure it will be roll out next year though, the market is just recovering, business wise, it will be better if they unveil it when we are already in a bull run, to create more hype in the market.

Why shouldn't they get one too? Sincerely I hope the news is factual and Samsung gets inducted into the crypto community. The sky is too big to accommodate any kind of birds. LG should get one for itself too and other big corporations. I still don't know why Alibaba is taking this much time coming onboard. It's the rave of the moment and every multinational should key into it speedily. In business, you either flow with the trend or go against it and get slaughtered by it.

Samsung is just trying to play smart and be part of something that can be very explosive in the future. Ideally speaking, there are many companies that backlash crypto and blockchain as a whole but behind doors they're a working on something to be part of the game in case the blockchain disruption gets very real in the near future. Bottom line: They all have seen blockchain as a threat and if they can't beat us, they join us then. It's a good milestone in the crypto space though. It's very very good.

And it is just to console myself and give me hope that cryptocurrency will come on track following dark days. But in fact, the latest development with regards to cryptocurrency is happening actually. That's a good decision for them in case they will enter in the market, that's major company adopting crypto whether we like them or not.

We should not think of their benefit but also for the benefit of the entire crpypto because of their popularity, they will help bringing adoption in the market, by introducing the market people will know a lot of alternative coins to invest with.

Samsung has many users of their phone so creating their own coin will be massive for them and at the same time, this will create more awareness to those users who doesn't know or doesn't have any knowledge regarding cryptocurrency.

There is a "MAY" word so it is not final at this moment but if this will happen, it can create a domino effect to other phone models. Creating a Samsung coin will be another step towards adoption.

It would bring positive changes and encourage many people into cryptocurrency if Samsung coin is issued in reality. Many people are fed up with news (unconfirmed) relating to cryptocurrency. Earlier, a news hit the headlines saying Facebook is launching its own stablecoin. But we are yet to see Facebook's stablecoin issued so far. So amidst these contexts, I can only pray these news are real and implemented.

for the profit i guess . samsung lately agree that they will partner with crypto and they succesfully release thier crypto featured phone , now they are taking it to the next level by creating thier own samsung coin . the coin is a perfect partner for thier crypto phone  . the extra use of the coin might be for purchasing samsung products .

yes it is . we all witnessed that the price of cryptos has slightly improved after samsung realese their crypto phone and now if samsung releases their coin i think this can help the price to improve more evenly . this things can remove the people's doubt about cryptos  . they will now believe that cryptos are really legit .

now it seems that everyone top companies wants to make their coin and join the cryptocurrency wave. one thing am bothered with is that it probably going to be centralized which is not what a true cryptocurrency stands for. an advantage of this kind of coin is they eventually come is that they will help to increase adoption and make more people know about cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.

If it happens then for sure MI coin will be the next one and probably we will see Huawei, Apple, Nokia coin in the following months. I support this type of development, but instead of creating individual coins, all company should be partnered to create only one coin like "Mobile Coin/ Cell Phone Coin/ MASH coin (MIi+Apple+Samsung+Huawei), etc. This will help global reach, profits and mass adoption.

Interesting development.

It is strange though how Crypto community welcome the big companies and even tolerate their trials and errors but when it comes to decentralized projects funded by regular people we become hostile and intolerant.

to me it would seem a good news if samsung entered the world of the crypto and created its own currency and its own blockchain would mean that one of the big companies really believes in the potential of the altcoin, then they have already invested in the development of the ledger hardware

Samsung smart phones surpassing iPhones nowadays and the companies values keep raising. Only in the fourth quarter of 2018, Samsung's smartphone shipments amounted to 70.4 million units. So they sell billions of dollars and getting bigger everyday. If they decide to come to the cryptocurrency market it would be big milestone i believe. I would invest if they start a coin for sure. After the facebook coin the market will change in big time, i am waiting for that..

That's true in next few years shitcoins will take over of this big companies that will more adopt the cryptocurrency, but it will be last longer or just they want make some money not just to adopt crypto in their platforms? Well will see what will happen to this companies after entering crypto.

Let’s be smart than petty ideas; crypto currency is not a joke
Do not abuse the decentralization

There are possibilities for such an existence, but the name won't be Samsung coin. Just think of bittorrent, what it does and same as that Samsung too can do. Not to repair, but Samsung holds a big market and on those marketplaces it can be used. With bittorrent it's been just integrated with a blockchain, same as that Samsung could also do.

Currently, we are thinking of private blockchain, though it is not yet confirmed. It could also be public blockchain in the future, but I think it will be hybrid – that is, a combination of public and private blockchains.
It seems to me that giant companies are making their own tokens just like wealthy people they are now starting new projects but the question is, will it survive in the long run? If the project has the potential and helpful to the crypto world and the general community it will be a successful project but that will also depends on the investors or supporters if they will strongly support for the good of the project like the Samsung Coin if it will soon be confirmed.

I would have liked more if Samsung would have implemented and added already available coins like btc, eth or xrp in their ecosystem i personally do not get the purpose of such a move i mean why such big corporations need their own coin. Coin is just required for funding and when you already have funds then there is not much need of creating a new coin.

Maybe if that so, you could just download an exchange platform on the samsung phone if you wish to consider these cryptocurrencies. I guess they were just going to make an asset which would be called the samsung coin, not really in to the investment on other crypto assets to consider.

Corporate cryptocurrencies by big company with their private blockchain means centralized. And this is contrary to the philosophy of the blockchain itself which is open source, transparent, without third parties and decentralized.
I personally support the adoption of these big companies. Samsung mentioned the hybrid blockchain, a combination of public and private blockchain. Let's wait for its certainty.

I also read some articles that Samsung is doing to have their own cryptocurrency, and I have come to an idea if it is true or just a rumor. If it will happen then it will be a good opportunity for us crypto users to support their project. We all know that Samsung is a good and big company, having a good conduct from the it's users and it has lot of supporters. But is better if they're going to make it as a public blockchain instead of private.  ;)

I only thing that if that becomes true, then it could attract the other big telecommunications company will follow Samsung ways, and they will create their own token/coin. Once much big company involve in the cryptocurrency, we will see a new phase will happen which the technology will grow and of course, the adoption process will running well in the future.

That will be good news after all especially for people who want to make a profit from cryptocurrency because they have a new opportunity from Samsung. But Samsung needs to compete with the other coins to prove that they are good enough than the other coins.

There are two ways to look at this, I don't like big corporation take over the space because what they want is to take over everything and this si against what the space is all about, but however it give credibility to the space, Facebook and Samsung are big companies and the tumour of Tesla offering ICO is a good thing to the space
When multi-billions companies are taking its step toward cryptocurrency, that will bring a lot of money to the crypto space and demand. But the cons are about they will create a big monopoly in the cryptocurrency.
They have unlimited money and anything looks possible for this company.
It might be a little bit difficult for them to create monopoly in an industry where we also have giant multibillion companies who are also ready to compete with them, I am sure very soon, apple will also come up with its own private blockchain to compete too.

Well we should encourage all these for now, so we can use it as a marketing tool for cryptocurrency, if these companies keeps adopting cryptocurrency, it will be an eye opener to other who are yet to be in the loop, in future when everything has been established, I am sure things will automatically take shape and corrected, so for now, they should do whatever they like to create crypto awareness.

Why don't we just wait until they make an official announcement. These "rumors" are definitely part of marketing campaign.

Wow, another coin to do what? We just keep piling up so many utility coins in the market that are of no much use and will not grow. I know they have large fan base but it doesn’t mean that all their fans will accept to use the coin and moreover, they can only use it to purchase Samsung products.

Since they have already choosing to develop the wallet on the phone based on ethereum, they would have as well just go into partnership deal with ethereum instead of creating another coin, now we have to still start swapping some tokens or Fiat to Samsung coin again to be able to have access to their products. Well, lets wait and see the outcome.

Ofcourse, businesses aren't a charity organizations. If Samsung was successful in making their own coin and made a good profit from it, We should expect that greedy corporations that doesnt really have no interest in improving the cryptospace will try to make it as a cash cow.

Just like the ICO hype situation, there were projects that are backed by companies made their ICO and after collecting free-money they disappeared.

Samsung has cemented its place in the world as major player on hardware market  but very little is known  about its creativity in software development. IMO, new "branded"  coin is  not necessarily an easy task, as the blockchain technique had been in existence for 10 years and company should not  see it   as a "guardian process"  in its core business strategies.

On the one hand it's good if companies like Samsung also jump the crypto train, but on the other hand not every company has to have its own coin? I doubt there will be a Samsung coin. Samsung is a big company, and it's too risky if they want to make crypto. Crypto has high volatility, if the crypto market falls it will have a bad impact on Samsung shares. and I think they are aware of that.

they might only develop supporting infrastructure such as wallets and so on. because it can provide them with future benefits.

It wouldn't be a surprise if Samsung launches its own cryptocurrency after it has expressed its interest in cryptocurrency through the integration of crypto wallet into its S10 phones. This could mean that Samsung is gradually creating awareness about the crypto world and its interest in it to its customers. The world will soon go cryptocurrency as these big companies and countries gradually join.

It is important for mass adoption that big corporations are entering the crypto market.
After the Enji wallet integration in Galaxy 10  it is still not clear what will Samsung coin
be used for. Hopefully more information will be announced soon.

From what i am read, samsung coin will run in ethereum blockchain but still no updated about when launched. Its good for crypto market if samsung launch their own coin because its give more trust and confident from investor. Recently, facebook want to launch their own coin too and i think crypto already attract more big company to join in this industry

There are many rumours dominating the cryptocurrency space ranging from the Facebook coin, to the Samsung coin. Most of these information are not verified and are barely true.
I have seen lots of these news too a lot and I have not really seeing any of them planning on having their own utility token, although it will benefit them more if they really do since they already have a very strong users worldwide and also the fact they have a product that has been know already, so it would not be a difficult thing for them to succeed when they finally introduce it.

Since they have not full declared their intention to us directly and everything we have been seeing so far has been based on rumor, probably some other big companies would have grabbed this idea already and working on it, so it is not a bad thing if they come up with such rumor that will lead to others getting idea.

I really fancy this news but I hope rather than designing their own blockchain infrastructure that they adopt blockchain framework that are already established in the market.. Ethereum, EOS, ADA I believe a good enough to provide the infrastructure for the Samsung coin..

I love Samsung phones and their technologies but I really don't like their idea of having a Samsung coin, for they will be the only benefitor of that. Why do they need to open a coin for themselves when they are already successful on their own business?

Why not? Samsung is a big company and it can afford to create own coin that will be used in their smartphones or by Samsung Pay.

Indeed, such news should be seen as evidence that adoption is developing. So, bigger companies now want to continue with the right one. Lets wait, if there is a convenient coin, the positivity will continue.

After the failure of the last flagship smartphone, I do not think that they will be written off with cryptocurrency. You need a lot of money to develop. And when you constantly fail, then investors may have questions about cryptocurrency. Samsung now need to work on its reputation.
Microsoft accepting Bitcoin had ben a great news in the past few months and I think that if Samsung became part of the Blockchain family, it would really give a push to the trend because users all around the world would be able to pay in Bitcoin for their gadgets they buy. Samsug coin would be worth investing in as well. It would have great project since the company is full of wise monds.

Well i knew this would definitely pop someday. Why create a new coin when we have cryptocurrencies already operating in the cryptospace. All these new coins reduces the market cap of existing coins such as Ethereum, Bitcoin, etc.

Maybe yes, but this will not guarantee that will be a successfull project and maybe they will use it internal and even if will put on sale maybe who own a Samsung phone will buy it.

I concur,  i don't think it's a good idea for Samsung to havea private blockchain company,  expect if the coin is mainly use for their own products.  Which i think it can be successful but not guaranteed.

The whole idea is to run on a blockchain technology, whatever coin they will be operating will be a utility toke used internally and not external, so they may not serve the purpose for which Bitcoin and Ethereum were created, and even if they will not be used internally, their project and that of Bitcoin/eth is totally a different thing, and they cannot be building another man’s empire when they can easily focus on theirs, what is the need of selling shares to someone and giving them another companies collateral in return.

The only idea I do not support is company creating general payment token when we already have Bitcoin and Ethereum to serve the purpose.
