Title: Merit giveaway to Full members and Below
Post by: ankit10 on April 24, 2019, 04:06:30 PM
Currently, I have 5 smerits which I want to give the full member or below. never sent any merits in last 120 days.
Posts must be Helping others or building/providing helpful services.
1 sMerit = 1 user

I saw many (maybe few) people giving away merits for the best posters of the forum.  Inspired from OgNasty giveaway (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5124596.0). I think this is not against the rule of the forum if this is then I will delete this thread. sorry and thanks in advance.

Comment link of your post or thread below. Maximum 5 links.

So use your sMerit where it requires. Keeping sMerit will not give you anything.

Not against the rule but it is very irritating specially when you have just "5" to spare. On the top of it you started comparing your thread with the thread of OgNasty who is a "Merit Source".

I am not comparing myself with OgNasty or anyone. I just saw his thread this morning so I thought to DO the same thing but for lower rank members.
yeah, I have 5 merits ATM but I  may get more in future so I can share them through this thread.

Though what you're doing is perfectly legal here as far as I know, please stop it with these types of threads already. If you want to give merit to low ranks, go read around Bitcointalk and give them merit when you spot one good topic/reply as merits are made to be used that way in the first place. Threads like these sort of makes the merit system counterproductive. Let them earn merits in an organic manner.

I also have some advantages, and I want to give it to some new members who deserve it.
Is this method contrary to the forum?
Thank you for helping new members.
This is a topic I wish to be good and useful:

Visit this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5096125.), search through already existing giveways threads and merit users you think fits your criteria above, asking them to drop links here will just result to another type of spam as many users especially newbie/jnr members apply on different giveways threads with the same links.
Also note, if you spend more time on this board, it won't take you time to find post worth meriting, so starting a giveway thread especially when you don't have much smerits isn't that necessary.

I have my merit contest, but I think that I am qualified enough to join yours.

Collection of comprehensive guides on identify and avoid scam projects (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5125435.0)
Tools for managers to check quality of posts (both merited & unmerited posts) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5125595.0)
[TIPS] to avoid plagiarism (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5133485.0)

[Suggestion] Should the forum have new rule on campaign (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5133919.0)
[6]: Reduces potential improvements on crypto knowledge: I meant by brainless spamming the forum, spammers will have less (or without) exposures to comprehensive boards, child boards, topics, posts, that in turn will result in decreasing chances to be exposed with knowledgeable things in the forum. Then, maybe spammers will spend years to spam in the forum without any improvements on their knowledge about crypto things.

I also run my own merit contest
1 merit per applicant who find qualifying posts or topics on Scam Related Issues (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5129883.0)

I don't think personally that we should open merit giveaway thread with only FIVE smerit. I am not saying that you did wrong, but I don't think its very difficult 5 good users to sent them merit. If you can't spend your five merit over forum then you shouldn't open giveaway thread. You could help newbies even without giveaway thread like I help markstivn98 with one smerit even his post isn't consider good to me. I just helped him for rank up. However, its not against rules or I don't think any DT's will destroy you for that, but this is not wise decision in my opinions.

Wondering, you had not spent single merit from last 120 days, then why should you open this giveaway thread? I am not going to feed by the way,

Consultation: Lock your thread and spread your smerit over forum to quality post.

I also don't feel it's against the rule and you need not to worry if there is an issue with it the moderators can move it to other board such as off-topic
