Now that crypto is allowing us to transact globally I am questioning if we are going  to start to see more scams happen between countries. Do we need more compliance companies to step in to help major scams and illegal trafficking?

As cryptocurrency hasn't got much support from countries around the world, it doesn't serve to be a big issue for the governments. In very few incidents the government interrupt understanding the serious of the problem. Over the years the popularity and usage of cryptocurrency among common people keeps growing. The same is been used as the chance by the scammers, and the term bitcoin is mostly used to promote the scam and make the common people as prey for them.

If you read the next title, the number of cross-border payments from US Exchanges increased to 46%. It is an alarming percentage and always remembers that a lot of countries still don't regulate of support Bitcoin that much. In the future, a lot will recognize this and will use Bitcoin, even other cryptocurrencies more, I know the government already knew this and will make a certain solution for this.

Scams are everywhere and it's very easy to implement a project scam in the cryptocurrency world because it is being done on the internet. The Internet can be used as a tool of scamming people especially when people get attracted to profit. Since then, I encountered a lot of scam projects for not paying the bounty hunters or the participants of the said project. I also participated in debunking a scam project to its lack of proof of legitimacy.

It's a big issue and very hard to be solved since it's being done globally and we can't control it instantly.

Fraud is now really a very big problem for the normal use of cryptocurrency. This is mainly due to two reasons - the slow legalization of cryptocurrency by states and the use of the Internet for fraud, in which it is not so easy to find a criminal, given that he can be anywhere in the world, and disasters of law enforcement agencies are limited by the physical boundaries of the state . This problem can be solved when the states themselves are included in the fight against fraud in cryptocurrency activities, and also establish clear rules for its use and establish clear rights and obligations of participants in the cryptocurrency market.

Awareness against such scams is what I think would be saving us from the rising numbers of such illicit activities and wrongdoings. Compliance and regulations only solves half of the equation, but if people who actively engage and participate in cryptocurrencies know the things that are being used by people to scam, they could avoid these things and not be a part of the statistic.

It is really alarming that there had been a lot of money that was taken from people's wallet in crypto and how cryptocurrency is used for illegal activities. It's not shocking since cryptocurrency offers anonimity to it's users that is why it is most likely used in illegal and fraudelent activities. That is why, some are starting to regulate cryptocurrency to lessen this risk.

In our country, due to cryprocurrency scam that is also rampant in our country, a lot of people have a bad impression about crypto which most of them are newbies. This can affect crypto awareness and adaptation due to the risk it implies.

It's already happening, just like every other digital currency, bitcoin is already been used for trafficking and as payment options for drug snuggling, scam etc and most of these crimes are intercontinental. So neither of this companies you speak off can stop it because If they do interfere it'll make bitcoin more of a centralized than decentralized currency as transactions can easily be reversible without the knowledge of all parties involved. You should understand though that every successful invention/renovation has its disadvantages so the case of bitcoin won't be an exception. I believe this one of the major reasons bitcoin isn't been considered by the government body as a payment option due to it's decentralized nature that encourages anonymous crime activities. A solution to stopping these crimes might be in service providers requesting for KYC verification from their customer but again this act will be taking us backwards in regards to total decentralization.

The other point is that all those scams didn't come from nowhere. Before cryptocurrencies there were dozens of different HYIPs or projects that promised you to multiply your balance. No matter what payment system you use. So general picture didn't changed. There is approximately the same amount of scams. The problem is that all those garbage is now concentrated among crypto related projects.

Well, Cyber crimes have been on the increase every year. Yes, Crypto currency linked crimes have increased too, because scammers have just catched on to a new global payment option that was introduced and now reached global adoption.  :P

Do we need more anti-cyber crime organisations to help us fight against this and/or technology to help us do this? Yes, we do!

Every new technology comes with it's challenges and people will just need to adapt to the new changes in the technology. We went through the same thing with the introduction of the Internet and we saw how technology were developed to "trap" these criminals.  ;)

Who say bitcoin and crypto are scam, do you know how first price of bitcoin when launch to public? very lower price but could be on higher price with support by many investor and now bitcoin is on higher.

This is nothing new. Crypto has been allowing us to transact globally since 2009. I don't understand what do you mean by scams between countries.

I do however feel we need compliance companies for exchanges. This is for exchanges which could claim being hacked due to poor security, and it creates an internation scene. The recent hack of the New Zealand based exchange was one such example and regulations or compliance companies are certainly needed for such cases.

this problem has become an open secret, everyone knows that some of the ICOs available on this forum ended in scams. because it's not new when we follow a project and the project ends in a scam.

It is indeed an issue not only in cryptocurrency but in the whole blockchain technology. Scams are everywhere so the best way to minimize being victimized is to be vigilant and refrain from logging in to phishing sites.

That could happen in many countries, but as long as we can do preventive way from the scam, I think there will be no problem with that.
That will be a big issue for people who are not aware and not prevent the suspicious transaction.
Money laundering will still happen if people are not to comply with the law and they want to get big money from the dirty work.

No one in this topic is saying that bitcoin and crypto are scam. The main point is that crypto and bitcoin is being used for scam/criminal activities and it is being used as a target by scammer/hacker who hack exchanges.
Coming to the main point of this topic, I do not really understand what is mean by scam between countries. Is it something like two scammers in two countries or more are collaborated to scam other countries?

You do realize that scams are a global issue irrespective of whether it is related to crypto or not, don't you op? The thing that everybody needs to understand is that no matter what happens, scams will always happen.

However, these scams can decrease by a huge extent if we properly secure all of our assets in the best way possible.

Yes crpto scam is a global issue since cryptocurrency are global currencies but the fact is before we have agency that will help in the tracking and preventing this occurrence it have to go through the government and as we all know no country have fully accepted cryptocurrency as a legal currency within they jurisdiction.

Most of us aware that crypto is just scapegoat for the criminality, but the government can used this reason to banned crypto, I think something need to be done so it will be easier for government to accept, for now we need to keep on introduce and asked people to used it for positive things, because its decentralised we only can suggest, we don't have any power to verdict

Negative stigma is very inherent in the world of cryptocurrency, and until now that is why some countries do not legalize crypto as a means of transaction but only in the commodity futures category.

The system is transparent and countries are established entities.
Scams usually happen when the scammer is anonymous or they try to raise funds through an ICO.
Neither or the latest will ever a country do, especially another respected country. However, I would agree that we need more compliance if we want to see the system work flawlessly.

Fraud is really big in credit cards too. The difference is that credit card companies eat the costs and don't publicise the losses because they don't want to scare customers away from using their cards.

As for fraud in the crypto space - there are a few things people can do to protect themselves.

Don't keep money on exchanges. Use a different password for every exchange in case data is being stolen by an employee of the exchange (rather than outside hacking). Encrypt your wallet. Be careful when you click on results in Google - the top results are ads and often ads for phishing companies. And never never never click on links in emails. Instead bookmark the urls of the exchanges you use, and access them only through your bookmarks.

Well, we can't say fully but there are a lot of countries that already accepted Bitcoin in their country, well to be exact, legalized Bitcoin in their country. But the fact that there are a lot of exchanges that are being hacked, we can't be sure how much this will affect the people around it to use Bitcoin. Crimes regarding these will increase for sure so as a user of it, we should be wary of it and be knowledgeable about how we could protect out Bitcoins from these hackers and scammers.

If you need a real example and i can give you one right now about how the hacked case of exchange site will give a negative impact to the bitcoin. If you remember the last week drop in bitcoin and it caused by the hacked case combined with tether and bitfinex scandal that already happened and this time bitfinex has fallen. Remember about crypto has used encryption that attracts scammers. They get real-time encryption and consider anything in the crypto encrypted by SHA256.
Someone above you may be wrong about the agency that can help to track and prevent it because it's too difficult without any help from the 3rd party like exchange site to track it. I mostly agree with your last words about anybody's knowledge is something that can determine a lot in this case.

Just like any sector in the world, scammers will be there to exploit unsuspecting victims. So definitely we will see more scams, so we need to be very attentive and don't be another statistics. As far as companies stepping in? It is called regulations, it has been a subject of debate for many years. It has pros and cons but in the end, it is still up to us not to fall for this so called scams in crypto sphere.

A company might help in regards with this situation but I believe on saying that if there's an idiot there will be a scammer. So for what I've known the main reason that there are scammers is because there are peoples who are not aware or doesn't have enough knowledge on something.

So I think the problem is with the people they don't have enough knowledge and experiences that's why some people are taking advantage on there ignorance. I believe all people started ignorant and in order to cure this a knowledge at a certain matter should be achieved and from that the crime will reduce if all people have enough knowledge.

Indeed this is a very big and serious problem where investor confidence will be damaged by widespread fraud everywhere and I hope there is support from any party to resolve this problem so that we can move forward cleanly, maybe for now we still in the repair phase in the sense that it is still in process, we are only advised to remain cautious about fraud everywhere.

There is no doubt that any abuse should be prevented when it comes to cryptocurrency which is still pretty gray zone, and this is something which is a stimulus for a large number of scams. If you allow someone to steal a large amount of money and chances to be caught and punished are very little or almost do not exist, do you think that some bad people will not use such chance?

To prevent frauds which include cryptocurrency we need better and tight regulation, but this is in same time something that threatens privacy of users, because most people do not like KYC and they want to keep a certain degree of privacy regardless of everything.

I agree that crypto scams represent a global problem, but if we compared all crypto scams from first day of bitcoin until today they are rather insignificant in comparison with scams related to fiat.

I think from various countries that prohibit using cryptocurrency it does give bad statements like this, they try to exert influence on society if cryptocurrency is bad by providing various articles that say cryptocurreny is a scam global currency.

Scams are everywhere and i think compliance will have a little help to filter those who tries to do fraudulent or scamming. In general, more scam will come up as the technology becomes more advance anyone can do scam as long as he can do it with his skills not only asking money for investors but also in other for of scamming. you can see that anything can be used to commit crimes. The problem is with people who are bad people.

It doesn't have to have a global solution neither, as long as its a global problem that people scam each other there should be at least one person that scammer scammed from their own country and as long as countries have legal tender stating crypto scams are as equally bad as fiat scams than we will not have any trouble.

The issue is how did you get scammed, if its a one on one scam that you lost money to someone than you may not get that money back but that would be quite similar on anything including paypal, there has been many scams including regular fiat as well that went viral and global too but if the scale gets bigger and involves more people than 1 then that person usually gets caught because they tend to not scam just foreigners but scam their own countrymen too which result with them going to jail.

crypto scams are everywhere it's up to you that you want to get scam or not. if talking about this forum most people get scammed by trusting lower ranked users so why do you even trust them. do not lend them money or do not trust with any amount of money if you see any potential of scam. just like how banks do it they take some collateral and when someone defaults on their payments they just sell the collateral and get profit.

I would say yes as crypto is completely involved with just money. The growth of a nation is decided upon its wealth. Its citizens' growth depends on their wealth they hold. When the investors / citizens are scammed of, they obviously loose everything and on the other hand the nation and globe are in trouble if you deeply look into it.

Indeed this is a huge problem, and a lot of scams, i think most of scammer come to scam on crypto because they are hard to track and to know where are the coins stealed, but i also think people who are in crypto should take more precaution measure and this will reduce scam attemps a lot.

The best part is to do education to detect scams. Most of them can be avoided if you know how the scammers will fool you. Only few of them are really professional where you can't do anything as educated user. The large number of scammer is just dumb using the same tricks all the day and still there are people getting scammed. The rules are easy and not difficult to learn

- don't store your coins in exchanges, they can be hacked
- don't generate your private key where it's not secure
- don't send your private key to anyone
- check the url of the website and don't get phished
- don't click on every link on the internet, verify before
- if an investment offers high returns it's mostly a scam
- don't send funds to strangers first

People have just to be more carefully where they sent their money. If someone is educated most of the scams won't harm you because it's easy to see the scam. Education is the best weapon against scammers and much better than useless regulations.

   That's right. The main problem is that people are still not enough educated about internet and things around it.
Meanwhile there are people who without any special scills find a way to scam people from the first group on the internet.
   I would also add that the justice in the case of internet scammers doesn't work perfectly in every country.
That's why we still may watch so many cases and so many victims.

one thing that must be understood is that even without crypto the criminals can still commit fraud and money laundering. but the advantages of crypto are that their crimes have tracked all, thanks to the Blockchain technology.  in the future, I really hope the government can use crypto and Blockchain technology to track the crimes of criminals and not assume that crypto is a threat.

It is a global issue which the whole world can't fix. Few countries succeed to fight it but others are still struggle to put those scammer into a jail. That's why some countries is banning anything related to crypto, they are just trying to save their people from falling into a scam. I don't think we need more compliance from companies, but we need government to pay more attention to fight this issue.

Yeah, crypto scam is a global issue, just like fiat scam. Listen, scam happens. People will scam each other in one way or the other. There is no way we can totally remove scam from the earth. Money laundering happens with fiat money also. We just need to find ways to reduce them. Completely banning anything won't help us in anyway. People launder money using gift cards. There is no organization or anything like that were available to punish the scammers,they may get arrested if any complaint were against them and caught by the police on their country other than that no other solution for this,it might not be a big issue once people got much familiar with it.

Those talented scammers needs to be punished, the governing bodies are responsible from each countries to apply certain rules for this type of issues, though it's not clear yet if every countries have this service that implied to pay attentions into crypto related crimes as still most of them are not aware

Was there a time that cryptocurrency users were not allowed to transact globally? It had always been a global business except countries where bitcoin and other cryptocurrency has been banned from being used. As long as there is no law against bitcoin or anything cryptocurrency in your country, you're always free to make use of it.

And I don't think there is any way that it can be solved, it's left for us to take care of it ourselves and how we can take care of it is by being careful on where our money is going to. If you don't look out for yourself ,then you will get scammed.

Scam is a global issue even before crypto, I think some is just saying that crypto is all scam since it's done in the internet. And as we all know scam normally happened using the internet thus, most people think it's scam. I think whether it's crypto or not, scam is inevitable because scammers just can't get off their hands to easy money.

It may and may not be a big issue, it will be a big issue in the sense that when it is becoming a global scam and the government still being adamant in buying into its adoption, it may get out of their control, but I know that a time will come if it really becomes a big threat to the government, they will have no choice but to regulate it.

There will always an attempt to scam people using or by cryptocurrency because this is a multi-million dollar industry, and scammers are fully equipt and they are professional enough to make their project looks legit and in compliance with existing laws, so we need some form of regulation, but will not undermine, the cryptocurrency decentralization.

imagine from the beginning of 2018 there were many scam cases that occurred and now the CEOs or founders of the project are still free to roam wherever he wants without clear rules, the perpetrators of the thieves or the scamer should get criminal penalties and there must be regulations clear.

Scammers are everywhere no matter what we people or the government do when some people need money they always make plans for doing the easy way to make money. And for those people who get easily scammed, it's either a charge for your experience or you never learn anything before. I believe scams can be dealt with without centralized system or authority but rather with decentralized anti-scam measures.
 I wouldn't care too much if the regulators go after the centralized cryptocurrency platforms though. They are not very transparent and can be easily abused.

Scammer did scams with fiat and bank accounts etc and now they are scamming crypto also. Everything which has a value is subjected to be exploited by the scammers.  Saying that scam are only because of crypto is wrong.



No matter we have centralized or decentralized systems, scammer and hackers are intelligent enough to scam us. It is our duty to take preventive measures and be alert.

We always will have this problem maybe regulation will help but we can see how many forex traders scam users and we see one of them famous scammer Ironfx made exchange ironx which don't works normal and seems want repeat its history in crypto with new users so its very difficult always be informed about everything.

I think information is the key word here because even regulation will not still solve the problem of scam 100% because even in the centralized financial system there are still cases of scams, so the only way out is to get good information about any project and business you want to get involved in to avoid being scam.

In cryptocurrency now large sums of money are concentrated and this attracts fraudsters. Fraud has always been a criminal offense, but for so many years the government has been inactive with respect to cryptocurrency fraudsters. This is especially true for ICO projects. So far, only individual countries have prepared bills to regulate the activities of the ICO, but their adoption will take some time.

This crypto scams might be the reason why some group of countries called G20 are planning to create a global regulation to prevent illegal use of cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrency scams are still increasing around the world and these perpetrators are mosly using social media and other online mediums to victimize people. The same scams have been going on since the internet started.  Its true that scammers prefer crypto because people have no way to reverse the transaction but I don't believe there are more scammers because of crypto.

Scam is a problem for everyone, not just for cryptocurrency. You right, scam exists not only on cryptocurrency, but on any transaction that can be misused and exploited by a scammer. So stop to justify that crypto is a scam only because of the actions of some scammers

Yes in sometimes it will be like that because a person trust me something and invest a lots of amount in it but if it was scam then always trust and reduced so I think this is happening if it was a scam.

Undoubtedly that will be a very sensitive issue to be addressed by the authorities and the crypto community in general, however the issue of crime and money laundering is not exclusive of cryptocurrencies, and in fact perhaps only a minimum proportion of illicit activities of the world are carried out through cryptocurrencies, because the cash is the most used, simple and affordable method for the commission of crimes.

Stop blaming the bitcoin for everything, this is just FUD.

If country A citizens participate more in scamming Country B that has genuine intention, wealth will be diverted from country B economy to Country A economy, so country B cannot continue to keep silence before they lose their entire economy to A.

Scam in cryptocurrency market is not limited to ICO alone, it really cut across the whole crypto market, down to wallet hacking, we just heard of recently, how money was stolen from Binance account and how the hacker was able to crack Binance security is a still a mystery to most people.

Yes, they are global issue that we cannot solve. No one can solve, we just need to learn to avoid the crypto scammer when we see them. I think we can solve this kind of issue if the crypto industry will be regulated by the government, let us say there are certain global monetary industry that needs it accreditation for a certain ICO before it can operate, with this, the scam ICO will lessen or even it will disappear.

Scam is still a very big issue in the crypto space because of the decentralization. Some persons just hide under decentralization and unregulated market to defraud investors, if possible we need a watch dog, but this will come at a very huge cost. I saw a flash that there is going to be a proposal for KYC and compliance for any transactions from $1,000 and above, men will still find away around this in exchanges.

Back in 2014 this forum did have scammers, but they werent that advanced you could easily spot them most of the time because they would put much effort in to them.

But when Bitcoin did the last rally to 20k$ there where a lot more scammers, and they actually put effort in them their main topics looked sick, website as well I remember one that even got me it was called:

Otho they did a airdrop and you had to have 0.05 ethereum in your wallet to even enter plus a lot of other requirements.
at one point what I had received was worth 400$, they announced a new exchange, I believe it was Kucoin a lot of people bought the token and it turned out the Kucoin release was fake! And after they released that announcement they started selling and left.

For me that was a real wake up call that you really have to watch out now, most of the projects out there will be gone within a year or they are a scam, you really need to find that needle in a haystack.

I think it will be really hard to control as well, where there is a lot of money involved some people will try to scam, you probably heard about people who will send u a email, while they are impersonating your bank and when you login to your bankaccount they will steal all the money off it, here in The Netherlands its quite a common thing they target older people who don't know much about Online banking.
So it is not only a Crypto problem, but it is a Worldwide Problem because of unfair wealth distribution!

2018 happened a lot of scam projects. It is really a big problem and bounty hunters speak out for it. It seems that the exchange founders have realized this injustice and formally established a new calling method, the IEO.

I think this depends on that certain country whose government wants to protect their citizens who use crypto currencies especially bitcoin. In terms of countries that btc is banned like China or maybe India in the next months, they don't need to do that since they already banned it, they don't need any of the protection for crypto scams. In terms of countries that regulated Bitcoin, I guess they really need to spread the awareness of it but I think if someone is an investor of crypto currencies or bitcoin, they should be able to know the scams and the legitimate projects if they don't. they can just ask certain people that can identify the difference.

I think that in 2019 there are still a lot of scam projects, although now they have a new method, the IEO method also still has the potential to scam and if it happens it will make the name of the exchange bad so the place of exchange must be able to choose projects and platforms best.

Those regulation bodies must be implemented because yearly we are seeing many scams even after raising huge amounts of money, the government should pass an ordinance without government permission nobody shouldn't launch their ICO project. Firstly, they need to get approval from the government sectors.

Scams are not only crypto connected so I don't know why is this considered as a separate problem. Every kind of online scam has a big increase because people spend their lives online, do their business online and store their data. Everywhere where there is sone kind of value and money scamers are present. Cryptocurrencies are especialy attractive but this problem can't be solved without bigger user awarness and self protection.

We are always experiencing scam incidents. That is really usual in crypto industry. In order to stay away with the scammers, we should become more wise. There is no yet a 100 percent banning or law for scammers. Yet, I am sure that soon they will eradicate by the government and people. Stop joining scam projects, we should move to STO projects.

I have always advocated decentralization and was against the fact that someone will control my financial affairs.  Based on this, I was very pleased with the cryptocurrency and what I could do with it.  But apparently it is now time to come, When you need to get rid of the greater evil, which is fraud in the cryptocurrency market.  Here, it is impossible to manage without state control and legal protection of one’s rights, and therefore real legalization of cryptocurrency is needed, with all the ensuing consequences.

Yes, we need compliance companies to step into the game in order to keep watch on the perpetrators of evil in crypto space. Anti theft and anti money laundering compliance companies need to come to the centre of crypto so as to stop scam. I think without these companies then we can't sleep with two eye closed in crypto space.

Compliance is what the government is pushing now, but we cannot do compliance without regulation.
We can use the USA as an example as they have a very strict regulation when it comes to digital currency as they see crypto is a high risk form of money without regulation.

I agree. We are responsible on our own asset. Do not believe on such good offer as you are not sure that it really worth, learn about it before you decide to participate or give an investment into it. I agree because many people are being deprived by the scammers. Those people who want to become profitable and want to gain are being deceived by crypto scammers. No, I don't think so. Scams have always been present in our system, before, today, and in the future. Whether or not it is cryptocurrency that will become the main cryptocurrency or fiat currency will remain, such problems as scams and illegal trafficking will always be present. Compliance companies are required today as before. Government efforts to curb such problems will have to continue focusing on their jobs regardless of whether the currency used is fiat or crypto.

People that lacks proper information on cryptocurrencies are the ones that are easy to scam and this happens globally where cryptocurrencies are available. Aside from money laundering and terrorism, every government that are member of a group of countries that crafting a global crypto regulation should also include crypto scamming as one of the crime to be resolved. Scam is happening not just in cryptoworld, this is the problem ever since before the entry of cryptomarket. It can't be resolve because its the nature of people to become greedy, if there's a new kind of investment for sure scammers will study that and start scamming people. Cryptocurrency is vulnerable for that, no excuse and I believe its now time for every investor to know if the project is a scam or not.

There is no effective solution to overcome the fraud on ICO, even ICO that you think is good can commit fraud moreover ICO that have bad reputation. My advice is to avoid investing on ICO, because at this time it's difficult to see which is a scam project and good project.

I have not read the article since the OP talks about how to get rid of these scammers and all other scamming schemes. Well, in reality scam is always an issue, even with fiat money. Now, crypto is even more vulnerable to scam or worse hacked or stolen since its a virtual asset. We, ourselves are the only person who could help to get rid of being scam. Yes definitely we need some sort of reporting and compliance standards for BTC and related companies. It's not merely due to money laundering, ICOs in general are raising so much money from people in form of cryptocurrencies all this wealth is not at all being utilized by them for development of their projects. Even if it is being utilized then where are the results or proofs that such a thing is happening. I think just like a whitepaper ICOs should atleast give an annual paper which states about the major working and financial position of the company and tells that how much funds have been utilized and how have they been utilized.

If the government had been in supportive of cryptocurrency the issue of global scam would have been addressed we have FBI, CIA, INTERPOL etc these are government backed agencies that can track or arrest those behind those fraudulent activities however government across some countries had shun and kick against using of cryptos these had really encourage scammers to have a field day in carrying out all those crimes unchecked.

I am not in favor of using the scam excuse to increase the regulations. See what is happening now. Lack of knowledge possessed by investors or Crypto users is indeed a major cause so that scammers can easily fool us. Scam in the world of Crypto has indeed been very many cases that have occurred, they have found a way that is by making an ICO / IEO project that aims to deceive investors.

All Internet-related work I think will always be the target of scammers. Not only in Crypto even Hyps Ponzi also scattered in the Internet. Those scammers will promise a great bonus for those who want to join their project. Well their target is the beginners who is new to the internet world even in the world of cryptocurrency. So there is no solution to stop the scammers.

The problem with any kind of scams including crypto scams is there are those who are willing to join even when they know that eventually, scheme will collapse and those who joined last will be the victim. You can even hear them say "invest only what you can afford to lose" and "enjoy it while it last". As long as there are people who will invest in this kind of schemes, this will continue. A new scam will be born every time an old scam closed down after being caught.

many ico projects now make us unbelievable !, I don't know how they can calm down there !, if you see Miracle Tele, they look like good projects but they say differently, they cheat everything !, then what about other projects ?, if we don't overcome that I think the scammer project will continue to emerge

Scammers are everywhere and not only in crypto. They just found a new option to screw those naive individuals and the bad thing is you can't run after them or sue them. Because most projects are anonymous or having fake profiles, you can't really get a hold of them. So it is really up to the investor how he will attack these things, on how he will deal with these scammers.

There will be no scam if we start to be aware and try to educate our fellow crypto-users to research first and be responsible for spending hard earned money if they want to invest in crypto projects, almost everyday there are new websites, different domains but almost the same style of scamming, always ask to others if unsure in new projects that promises good roi in just short period of time.

Those sweet promises are common inside this market better to take time to review and we also need to be concern with our co-investors or traders.
If we do learned scam projects we should share it and give people more awareness about the style from that point it will give information and it will
avoid many investors to be victimized. Everything around this business needs a deeper understanding, it's all about money matters so best to take

This is something that really bothers me, many investors can see that a project is a scam and despite that knowledge they join that project believing that there is always going to be someone behind them willing to invest in the project to which they can sell their coins, not realizing that most of the time they will be the ones holding those useless coins.

And then they begin to complain about how they got scammed when they knew very well in what they were getting into.

It is true that some of the well known and most popular altcoins came in to existence through ICOs (Ethereum and TRX for example), but the recent ICOs have diverged a lot from what we had during the 2015/2016 period. A boundary must be drawn between the earlier ICOs and the recent ones.

Things have changed dramatically, when icos were first created it was nothing but an attempt by good developers to get some funding for their project.

Basically you had some of the most brilliant minds in this market with great ideas but that were unable to make them a reality because they lacked money but since 2017 we are seeing something completely different most of those that are organizing icos do not really have any experience and do not have any idea what they're doing they just want the money and don't want to do anything for the community

It was nothing but the idea of changing something with lacks of funding. ICOs back then were more promising than today, roughly 70% of ICOs were legit and true to their promises what has planned became real but after the bitcoin has climbed to the top it all changed and scammers took granted of the newbie investors in the market making crucial days of the entire year 2018.


I noticed that the funding of ICOs went wrong in previous years because of the competition from various groups of developers plus the scam ICO have taken the booming industry of cryptocurrency that taught the investors their lesson. Now I rarely see a succeeding ICO, probably there is a single project out of 10 that atleast reached their soft capitalization to continue bearing with the market.

This is bad news because developers will always depend on the desire of investors to risk their money in a project that has nothing to show for, but thanks to scammers and their enormous greed now investors are afraid to invest in any of those new projects.

And I'm sorry that legitimate developers are experimenting huge problems to get enough funding for their projects but we cannot deny that scammers have taken over the market of icos and the risk of investing in any of those projects is simply unacceptable.

Until now, problems related to scams became a global issue, because scammers are everywhere. Not only in the crypto world.
But strangely, the deception that occurred in the crypto world was more in the spotlight in the eyes of the world, therefore ICO
projects were a scam, become negative effect on the crypto world. We as crypto supporters must try to educate newbies so we
can avoid scam, because there are many newbie victims of fraud. I hope next year the number of victims of fraud can be reduced
drastic, because I'm starting to see now that people are good at distinguishing between real and fake projects.

Scams not only occur in blockchain technology and in cryptocurrency. It happens in any part of the world because everyone is vulnerable about being scammed. Let's just accept that we can't avoid being scammed, but we can minimize and prevent being a victim.

For me, I try to become more strict about the security of my account, based on my transactions. I do not make a transaction with someone who has a hidden identity or in short, anonymous. Also seeking information about how to avoid scammers can also help you to have a safe and secured cryptocurrency.

Always be alert in your account because many people nowadays are working hard just to fool people with their bad doings.

Even though there are a lot of scammers in the internet, you can still protect your capital if you have knowledge to the investment that you will take. There are investors who easily believe to the attractive words of scammers. You can easily find out if the project is something fishy or not if you will research it background well. There are techniques that you can use like reading the reviews of the other investors participants. In their reviews you can see if the project is legit or not.

Each of us can help if we are all going to expand educating those newbies to avoid or to lessen the chance of getting scam, people who understand well this market needs to open their doors to give extra precautions as the global problem regarding to scamming people really affecting the market. Most new investors who got victimized shared their bad experienced and no longer interested to continue investing.

Agree, even though scam in crypto has become a global problem when quite a lot of people have gotten involved and lost a large amount of money but over time, the knowledge and perspectives of investors and participants have gotten better, the scam has been too easy to recognize, almost everyone has many factors to evaluate a project and plan. However, a common problem we cannot control, it is the greed of everyone, sometimes the attractiveness of money is so great, it makes people ignore the tips and criteria to evaluate projects.

Scams and frauds have been with human race since its very beginning. A man can think and act in any way he likes to, whether positive or negative. That is an entire choice of individual. With cyber space, it has become more technical for scammers to scam and more difficult for authorities to control or arrest these scams. Being a little bit smart can prevent us on internet. It is not a very difficult task.

Everyone is different but I am why past the point in which I try to figure out if a project is a scam or not, the most effective way to protect yourself from scammers and their lies is to never send them even a single satoshi, if that means that I'm going to miss investing in some of the best projects in the market so be it I do not really care anymore.

I am not going to enter the game of the scammers, I'm not going to try to figure out if a project is good or not, and in my opinion this is the only way to protect yourself completely from scammers.

Well yes that you will be secured from scammers and hackers but you'll miss lots of opportunities and i think it is part of the risk that we're taking when we enter the crypto world, it is our job to research about the project  that we're investing with because once we found out that its a scam, we can warn others specially newbies about that specific project that only scams people and you could save other's money by your research.

at least by doing our research, this will help new investors who may not have been good at researching a project. so the scam project is expected to not get investors and automatically fails by itself. if the movement is carried out then indirectly we have helped maintain the good name of the crypto world

But many of those opportunities are not real, even if there are thousands of coins in the market that doesn't really mean that you have thousands of options in which you could invest your money, at best you have something like 50 different coins in which you could invest, the rest are scams, bad projects or projects that are copying other coins.

So I do not really feel like I'm missing anything because I can invest in the best coin in the market which is bitcoin and in a few other good altcoins like ethereum.

Those investors who experienced to get scammed are also have liabilities to their selves because they let the other people to get their money. They keep blaming others but the real problem is them. They did not consider the dangers before they make investment. As a investors we should protect our money. The cryptocurrency scams are global issues and we can protect our money if we have right knowledge. Researching and studying can help us to get right knowledge that we can use to not get scam.

That is true, we should only focus on the few cryptocurrencies in the market instead of wasting our time and effort to check all of the cryptocurrencies in the market. It is just about being wise and smart that in the long run, only the OGs and the real cryptocurrencies with working product will definitely make it at the end.

Crypto scams are far from being over and I put the blame of this on investors only. They are the one who blindly invest in scam projects without doing any research and these scams will continue to happen if we are not willing to invest our time and efforts in analyzing the project prior to investing in it.

You can't blame the investors alone since it is also the developer's fault for creating a project or a cryptocurrency with false promises and information just to gather and steal money from other people. We should implement a strict regulation on each new projects to ensure that all of the upcoming projects are really legit.

Crime is always there where is money, so cryptocurrencies are not exception.
All we can do to prevent crypto related scams is education. Users needs to be aware that new sophisticated frauds appear all the time and need to learn how to protect themselves. Only prevention can work because once you become victim it might be too late and chances to recover your funds or personal data are relatively snall.

Shame on you for victim blaming. Haven't you think about it that is the bad people who should be blame for being too lazy to stretch their bones to work, their sweat, and not to scam people? oh well, maybe you're in favor to them.

Let me give you an example, you are walking alone at night in your street, then suddenly someone snatched your phone, I guess you are the one to blame because you walk alone and didn't even think that it is dangerous at night in streets, but no, it is not your fault, you didn't want that to happen because you it is an accident, you didn't see it coming, same for those people who have been scam.

Only cryptocurrency scams should not be considered. Because there are many fraud crimes in the current economic system. There's a new money model and scammers are coming here. There's something funny about it. Investors who invest in this market need to be more knowledgeable.

But the problem is cryptocurrency gives many potential ways to scam people. Since, people are not that much digitally literate, scamming them become really easy. It is easy to hack a wallet or manipulate people into giving their pvt keys. In cryptos , people usually forget that they are responsible to safeguard their own funds and there isn't much what center authorities can do. That's the problem and that's the reason behind the ever increasing scam rates in cryptos.

This is really normal in our current era. More fake, frauds and scams. Many people are fooling others just to get money. The world is really a sinful place. And crypto industry has numerous fraudulent and criminal people, actually there are more scammers around this than in real world. Fake projects and fraud ICOs are countless. They are destroying the sense of cryptocurrency and blockchain.

This is really a fault on the part of investors as they are incapable of selecting real projects for their investments and end up with scams. Before investing our hard earned money into crypto projects, we shall at least check reviews about it on the famous forums or crypto sites. I never try to invest into newly launched projects because of doubts on its credibility. I simply prefer going with few months old projects.

It is hard to say but yes, investors are the one who are responsible in everything, they need to research first the project they are aiming so that they will be no situation that they are losing their money due to wrong decision that they invested in wrong project and they run.

Even after spending more time it is impossible to find a project to be a scam in some cases. This is all because of the way the project is being developed and the growth it attained over the starting days of the project. When days run there'll be lack in the growth and the scheduled progress won't be achieved making it to be a scam.

most of then people that got scammed or those people who just going to crypto for the sake of seeking profit but have literally no clue regarding crypto even at the slightest and they usually are lured by the scammer, you can't blame it entirely to the victim simply because their thinking varies. lack of regulation is what make the condition and the regulatione exist is for the sole purpose of saving those kind of people from becoming a victim.

This is not really a problem of reputation, if it was then we could argue with all of those people that are somehow giving a false impression about the market of cryptocurrencies, this is a problem of facts, it is undeniable that a significant portion of the market of cryptocurrencies is composed of scammers that are doing nothing but looking for ways to get to your coins.

And one of their favourite ways to do this is to try to create projects that give the outward appearance of being a legitimate project when that is not the case.

scams are always with us, we can't get rid or even remove scams from existence due of how is the nature of life where good things always have bad things beside that. Even before that  thing from the news said, you will see scams are everywhere.
