Title: LEGACY AND SEGWIT WALLET "COMPATIBILITY ISSUE"
Post by: Leonardo7 on May 13, 2019, 03:31:10 PM
I had switched to Imtoken from blockchain wallet, this is because Imtoken is a Segwit supported wallet but the blockchain is a non-segwit wallet. As such, it's expected that Segwit supported wallets should have a lower transaction fee as compared to non-Segwit. Imtoken 2.0 has been running many updates, and they ended up removing where I could customise my bitcoin fee instead of just moving the suggested fee mouse backwards until I get to the minimum allowable by the wallet, and the minimum allowable by Imtoken ever since bitcoin started rising has always been 64sat/byte which is 0.00050688btc and that amounts to $3.79, whereas blockchain network fee stood at about $0.6-0.8 as per regular fee.

So I decided to import my ImToken Segwit wallet to blockchain a non-Segwit wallet using the mnemonic phrase of ImToken I had copied down, using the recover fund option, nevertheless, it successfully imported but the bitcoin balance never showed up for hours now. Someone pointed out that: it could be a "legacy and segwit wallet compatibility issue" I am not ready to continue paying high fee using imtoken.

I kindly request someone to educate me on this and recommend a better Segwit wallet. Thank you.

Use Mycelium for phone and Electrum for desktop, they're the best options If you're looking for SegWit wallets.

As a piece of advice, regardless of the fees, you should always avoid closed source wallets as you never know what's going behind the scenes.

I can't find any article that ImToken wallet support segwit wallet it seems that they only support bitcoin segwit which is an altcoin, not the original bitcoin.

Additional to OmegaStarScreem.

I'm currently using these wallets below.

- Bread BRD wallet
- Electrum wallet for Android
- Edge wallet

They support segwit wallets.

Please, what do you mean by not the original bitcoin? I have been using it for bitcoin transactions and they even admitted that the issue of fee pricing will be fixed, meaning they deliberately did this to collect customers bitcoin.  Never heard of bitcoin Segwit been altcoin before.

What I mean is if you talking about a bitcoin segwit(Fork Coin)? it's not a bitcoin.

If your issue is the miner's fee when making a transaction try the recommended wallet already mention above like Mycelium, Coinomi, and Electrum which you can manually put a fee.

Then check this link https://coinb.in/#fees to calculate how much fee you should put for lower fee and fast transaction.

I believe OP is looking for a mobile wallet, so electrum for android should be an option
minor problem is I think electrum android version doesn't allow import (cmiiw)
if OP decides to use electrum app, he needs to send all his coins to new wallet

This also confuses me. Do you mean that there's a separate altcoin named Bitcoin Segwit (which I couldn't find with a quick search)? Or are you making a political statement that Segwit-enabled BTC is an altcoin?
