Title: It's more than 10 years of data
Post by: RapTarX on May 16, 2019, 07:34:32 AM
Meta is full of ban appeal. After observing some threads, I am certain that almost all the banned users are banned for plagiarized content.
Cellard is an old member here registered in 2014, he is a quality poster as well. His merits at least say so.
He got banned now. It is really odd, isn't it?
I guess there's a misunderstanding going on. This forum was created in 2009, we have a lot of post. I guess some of these posts are same with meaning, sometimes the words as well. Is it one of the reason why so many people get banned?

Users whom made decent posts, significant contributions, and have good net effects highly will be considered by admins or global mods to be given alternative for permanent bans with signature bans, instead. One of global moderators actually claimed that @cellard will be considered later. Be patient and keep supporting him in his Ban Appeal, there: [ban appeal] cellard (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5143734.0)
Plagiarism. It'll probably get changed to a sig ban though since the post that was reported was from 2014 and he seems to be a half-decent poster. I'll look into it later.

I changed the ban to 60 days + 1 year sig ban seeing as it's a post from years ago and you seem to have contributed decently since.
You can close this thread now buddy as hilariousandco did what is fair for him in this situation.

@cellard, got a ban on installing signatures until May 15, 2020, meaning a one-year ban. @cellard can still appeal, for his account.
The possibility of a @cellard account, can return in 2020.
With the terms of appeal and comply with Forum rules, and do not repeat the mistakes he made.

This case happened to @ Hacker1001101001, with the same ban, 2 years 60 days.

theymos had already plan to include the welcome page for the new comers but until now it has not been implemented. I think it has to be done with shitposter for until now doing copy and pasting posts of others to which likely theymos would like to eradicate.

Even If I were theymos I would still give more time for users that usually were doing palgiarize post and ban the good for nothing users.

Whatever it will be I will support theymos and the forum for its continuing development for the betterment of the forum for cryptocurrency discussions.

I am sure mods are aware that such thing may happen and make sure that the user did intentionally copy pasted the text and it wasn't just a "bad luck" before banning him.
If the banned member thinks the mod's judgement is faulty, he is allowed to create a ban appeal thread and ask to review his case.
