The South Korean technology corporation Samsung announced its intention to build in a cryptocurrency wallet in a line of new budget smartphones, based on a prototype of Galaxy S10. The conglomerate has been actively popularizing blockchain and doesn’t seem to be stopping.

The Galaxy S10 smartphone, which works with cryptocurrency, became available for purchase in March this year. The electronics giant has chosen to support Ethereum (ETH) from all other digital currencies, leaving Bitcoin out of the game. The Samsung team revealed that other cryptos will be added in the future as well. However, it is unknown yet, whether it will add Bitcoin support to their new budget models.

The rate at which the big players are picking interest in crypto and blockchain is increasing. I already ordered an S10 today because I will like to explore the said features. If they extend those features to budget entry phones, it will increase popularity of crypto. I think adding other top cryptocurrencies to the inbuilt wallet will make much sense.

Too bad they opted for Ethereum. But I guess, it is better "something" than "nothing". Any idea what kind of wallet it will be? From the announcement it seems like they are going to make a multi-coin wallet of their own. Just a thought: an integrated wallet for the Lightning Network would have been a much better choice. And it would have been an ideal entry for the masses to the crypto world.

Maybe they want to try this and maybe after will make new phones or some updates to integrate bitcoin, but is better than nothing and maybe new people will join crypto if they see a wallet on phone.

This is great news, cryptocurrency is increasingly entering people's lives and using mobile phones this process will go faster! I think the rest of the phone manufacturers will follow Samsung.

Great news! I think that this will contribute to the popularization of cryptocurrency among new users. A lot of users use mobile phones and do not want to use computers to use cryptocurrency.

What are they trying to show by not adding the most prominent cryptocurrency to their wallets? I don't like that attitude. Instead of spreading ETH wallets to other devices they should add support for BTC. How many people use ETH to transact? It's a great token but it's alive thanks to other projects that are using it not thanks to real world transactions.

You don't need to carry ETH with you at all times because you're not going to suddenly need it when your CC gets denied. BTC on the other hand...

Adoption is really important to cryptocurrency's growth. If they will add such feature to their budget phones, those users will more than likely learn how to use crypto. Most of them heard about crypto but in reality, they don't know how to handle a crypto portfolio. And considering that there are a lot of samsung users, no doubt they will add up to crypto users. Many people own at least one smartphone but not a computer or laptop. So think about the number of samsung users that will eventually be crypto users. This will be a good boost for adoption. And I think, other phone providers will follow through...

This is great but old news, they just moved it to budget phones since it has been first launched with an expensive product.

I think with this change they made, the total sale for the first launch isn't that good. But why they chose to support ethereum instead of bitcoin? they can have their choice I guess.

Samsung really told the world they were preparing for the future by integrating the various all new techs including blockchain and crypto support in their S10 official release. So I believe this is a continuation of their preparation towards the future. Crypto is the future so they're all gradually gonna get on board.

I understand the enthusiasm but, with the established and trusted crypto wallets available out there, what is the advantage for the end user of using a preinstalled wallet?

Although i have heard similar type of news earlier as well but still i would say i am glad that big companies and giant corporations are now accepting the fact that cryptos are the future that is why they are now accepting them and implementing them as well definitely this will speed up crypto adoption.

I believe they are targeting their samsung ordinary users in this adoption.
It is true that there are better and trusted crypto wallets, but are they in the grasp of these ordinary customers?
Most ordinary users who never-heard of crypto wallets will prefer a pre-installed one in their phones.
So they don't have to do anything. And with the integration of this wallet to these budget phones, definitely this strategy will reach out more ordinary users.

Yes, agree. But I'd rather do without mobile wallets, that's just too unsafe for me. There are now many projects that offer credit cards that can be filled with Crypto.

They supported Injin wallet and coin and no major functionalities added I think it will be best if they add some features or instant usage of their coin or the tokens you will handling in your wallet if not then there will be no need Just download wallet and install no need for official announcement

Ethereum has the biggest offering of all platforms and is the king of altcoins. It makes sense to add ethereum as it offers more functionality as a wallet than just holding bitcoins. Good that they are adding it to budget phones too

It is a good move from Samsung to add crypto wallet to their budget phones  as S10 is the newest model and the crypto wallet is added only for certain countries and not for all countries. So, with that move they will reach wider range of their customers.

It's easy just like when you are using any other software wallet. But remember i thought that was only available for ethereum and ethereum asset only and samsung wallet is ont yet supported any other crypto like bitcoin and another coin. FYI i used galaxy s10+ right now dude.

Those saying bad words about the crypto space, I wonder how they will feel now. The sincere truth is, blockchain is just getting started and with time many platforms, sectors or systems will be left with no choice than to leverage blockchain and its features.

Though this is old news but yet thank you for sharing! Samsung seems very interested in the cryptocurrency market! Last year Samsung took payment through crypto-currency from a specific country and they already released a crypto wallet where 15 potential coins are lives! So, this is a new milestone!

This is another improvement of crypto currencies, not only for Ethereum but for the whole currencies out there especially those who have a potential. I wonder also why Samsung has chosen to support Ethereum from all other digital currencies.

Though we know that Bitcoin is the mother of all crypto currencies, I wonder if they are worried about the bitcoin price as ethereum is more cheap compare to bitcoin right now. But I am sure that they will consider bitcoin upon adding additional crypto currencies in the future because there is no reason for them to leave behind bitcoin unless they didn't like it from the start.

Samsung company are continue to support crypto and it is good in to crypto industry and it is more than on paid advertisement. But if we think and analized why that company are giving too much support from crypto? I think they have a plan to create their own coin or crypto. At first, I predicted Samsung would support a South Korean coin but Ethereum maybe their appropriate choice for its large ecosystem as well as fan base. Besides, building a built-in ERC-20 wallet is somehow technically easier, I think.

I think this is foolishness as these companies don't even understand crypto they just picking interest as it is profitable to them, I hate when someone or any company take steps like this. they can't even improve their phone launcher and they were dreaming of adding cryptocurrency wallet in their phone. Are you from mars? this is already become an old news and samsung has already launched it in S10. Mass adoption is not yet started and there was a lot of big companies even samsung still ont yet adop crypto said amazon, microsoft, etc.

Samsung S10 is still too expensive if what is recommended is only the feature has its own blockchain wallet. With a price range of $ 800-900 dollars. I see some reviews and in my opinion it is not too great if you see features.

I keep seeing a news about Samsung with cryptocurrency, i guess Samsung is really serious into cryptocurrency. It's a good news for crypto, if this really happen and success, it would be big. Maybe Samsung will make their own cryptocurrency and people can use the samsung coin/token .

This isnt actually the first time that a phone brand supports crypto . There are generic phone brands on the past that introduce blockchain/crypto on their phone and recently samsung release their newest phone model equip with a crypto wallet  but overall this can again help the crypto adoption to grow more evenly  .

Nope, just a few person who will use centralized coin, as you may know what happened in XRP. There are many news against it but just a few person who has sn interest to Ripple. Well I do not buy it at all. It is not just Samsung’s own wallet that people would for their phone. If Samsung wants to make it a success, they should really make it available for everyone out there and not just the Samsung users. This way, their revenue could increase than it would be otherwise. After reading the OP post, the incident that happened with Nokia flashed into my mind. Samsung recognised the concept of cryptocurrency and took it further by not just sitting on the fence, but rather took bold step and dive into it. Cryptocurrency is still young, but some big companies may still miss out and things might be too late before they realise like the case of Nokia and blackberry.
