Title: Be aware of scam ICO project "facebooktoken"
Post by: TalkStar on May 18, 2019, 06:47:24 PM
What happened: Running ICO by using the name of facebook.
Website link: http://facebooktoken.org
Archive link: http://archive.is/BDHIm

Let me introduce a ICO project which name is "facebooktoken". During my regular research for fake ICO and cypto related projects suddenly they took my attention. They are using the name of facebook for their project but facebook has no announcement about something like this. Most interesting thing is that they have no whitepaper, no team, no roadmap and not a single component which are really essential for a valid ICO. Actually there is a rumor that facebook is going to launch their own crypto currency and IMO those guys are trying to take the benefit of this news.

https://i.imgur.com/6bvs30P.png

They have not listed on the forum and got no social links on their website too. Their project name is "FACEBOOKTOKEN" but they are using on web header "FACEBOOKCOIN". I think they have got no knowledge about the difference of "COIN" & "TOKEN"

https://i.imgur.com/nmqo4XO.png

Very alarming thing is that they are using facebook website fabicon on their website. In my point of view its a clear scam ICO project and i hope crypto investors and forum users will be aware of them.

Scammers do not sleep and act very fast, even too fast) FB still conducts conversations with potential partners and prepares everything and scammers are already launching token in the market. Very operational

Its just a cheap way to make scam with crypto Community. Their main intention is to use the popularity of facebook where facebook are planning to create their own crypto currency. Another interesting thing is that those guys have mentioned on their website that they are using facebook blockchain for their token. Thats another new invention from them.

Yeah there is no way to deny that scammers always try to be smarter than investor and its the thing which transform them into a scammer. To stop them always we all have to be one step ahead than those scammers.

Wondering, should I laugh or not. How scammers using well reputed brand name. And how are we stupid that we are investing this kind of ICO. Name is pretty scammy to me and I can't found also any announcement from Facebook. So this is cheat attempt. Likely they just want to attract investors by using Facebook name. I will suggest stay away....

Good job OP, keep it up.

There is one called 7Eleven (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5139648.0). I cant find their airdrop page anymore (maybe deleted), many replies (bots). They had a team and whitepaper, but they deleted everything from their webpage.  I have seen Disney (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=802673.0), Walmart, Amazon, and a few others. And I bet that soon we will have a Twitter coin.

oh "Zucki found Mickey"

MARK ZUCKERBERG: So are we going to do that or is it only "talking"?

MICKEY: Zucki?!!! what are you doing here?!!.

MINNIE: Maroon?!! was it your choice?

MARK ZUCKERBERG: No! but I sort of like it.

MICKEY: She could at least give you a "glow" treatment.

CHARACTER: A red glow could be perfect.

Nili: I thought of it, but here on Disney Coin he is just one of us.

MARK ZUCKERBERG: I hope you all realize that I will have to sue us.

MICKEY: Disney did not sue us!

MINNIE: Probably because we did not make any money other than our coins.

MARK ZUCKERBERG: Disney and Coca Coal made a huge mistake not going after you.

MICKEY: And why is that?

Nili: Because Nilicoin now set a precedence.being around in the public eye for almost 5 years, Cola and Disney will never be able to sue us. .

MARK ZUCKERBERG: I defiantly not going to let any coin appropriate my name, not even as art!

MINNIE: But suing us is suing yourself. Can you sue yourself?

MARK ZUCKERBERG: I can sue you for impersonating me.

Nili: No you can't. If you prove that you are not Mark Zuckerber then you can't sue us for impersonating him/you.

MARK ZUCKERBERG: I Could then sue you for making a Facebook Coin .

Nili: Yes you can do that and this is exactly what we want you to do. That's why I chose you as the presenter. Suing us will create a market value to all our coins including your coin.

MARK ZUCKERBERG: Great I love that plan! When are we launching the Facebook Coin as a thread on bitcointalk?

Nili: Soon. I still have to work out a few details before I can put you on the thread.

And I bet that soon we will have a Twitter coin.
I am gonna give you some fund from my end to add on your bet because anytime those guys can start twitter coin project. Those scammers have got a great skill that they can smell like dogs and its the way how they open individual ICO project before having real Announcement from original sources.

If you are an investor, you will not be going for this coin, obviously and all the sign that it is a scam site are all here, just because there are a lot of news about Facebook token you will not do research, on how and when they are going to launch one this is created by poor designer.

They forgot to put redirect link on their whitepaper button and have no team section on their web footer. Maybe they are searching for another projects whitepaper and shutter-stock images for using as team to make investors fool. Best ideas they have tried to apply on this ICO is the rumor and reputation of "Facebook". I will not be surprised if i see their bounty announcement on our forum after couple of days.

There is an accusation here:

This is a totally different thread and a different coin. I would appreciate if you study my work.

Hey "Zucki" I dont know what are you talking about. It is the same thread, you just changed the main text:  https://archive.is/tcLnx

WE  ARE ALL MARK ZUCKERBERG

[FACEBOOKS] Token was created on Counterparty
 https://twitter.com/NILIcoins/status/1131320795270139904

A pseudonym account using the letters M, a, r, k, Z, u, c, k, e, r, b, e, r, g, was created on Bitcointalk
A topic named "Facebook's Coin" announcing the coin's issuing was published on that same day and deleted by moderators without a notice.
Three more new topics with the same name were published censored and deleted. (view an image of the last one here https://twitter.com/NILIcoins/status/1131320276329926656 )
This time the topic's name is "Not facebook's Coin".
This time it is clear to all that the coin in not a facebook's coin and the user's name is a pseudonym.

As with any social network, the value is created mostly by the user, thus it is the participating user that should be reworded with most of the coins.
GlobalCoin that is the intended coin to be issued by Facebook, most likely will fail to follow that basic commonsense and can weaken the entire crypto-economy as a result.

This thread is created to guide the creation of a true social network's coin in such way that will enable the potential of Facebook to use it's power to create something great for us all.

The Facebook Global coin's monetary policy guideline regrading the issuing and distribution of the coins (as should be crafted by the Facebook's team) will be posted soon.
the [FACEBOOK] Not Facebook's Coin distribution policy will be published soon after.

WTF? This is Disney cartoon chat?  :o

and now "Zucki" joined them.

Hey guys.
Had my thread deleted three times. not sure how you keep yours on.

I hope that this will make things a little clearer for you ICOEthics

They are using the name of facebook for their project but facebook has no announcement about something like this.

They're probably trying to take advantage of the fact that there were rumours that were spread around last month about Facebook apparently launching their own "Globalcoin". But that obviously has no affiliation with this project whatsoever.

If people do their research they'll come to the conclusion that this official FB token has not even been launched yet, and right now isn't even confirmed to be launching any time soon, and therefore this "Facebooktoken" project is completely fabricated.

Unfortunately, the people who don't take these steps to protect themselves are the ones targeted by this project.

Also, I can't tell if user @markzuckerberg is a troll, or just a really bad impersonator.  :D

If you are well updated on the what's happening, you'll know that this is a scam, because Facebook already announced the name and the launching of their coin, people who are new in the cryptocurrency will believe in this project but not us who has been into a lot.

I guess only fools will ever believe with this obviously scam project. It is actually taking advantage of the popularity of Facebook and its plan to go into cryptocurrency. However, Facebook is still on the planning and testing stage plus GlobalCoin is going to be a stablecoin. Scammers can get so creative these days and they know what can be trending so they can ride on something that is popular. You are so bad FacebookToken so bad! Good thing that, I think, the site is not anymore reachable on my end.

Its kinda easier for them who have got vast knowledge about ICO projects and know how to choose a valid project for investment. W have o keep it on our mind that in every single minutes we are getting new users and visitors on our forum who are completely new. From my own expectation they are not enough prepare to keep them far from this kinda scam trap. I agree that we can't do nothing more than just warning them about these bad guys but sometimes our little step can save many new comers who entered into crypto world with positive mind.

Its pretty much clear to us that these scammers doesn't came here for hunting well updated crypto investors because they are well informed that everyone isn't going put their foot on their trap. Their actual target is our newbies and new inexperienced investors.

Good thing that, I think, the site is not anymore reachable on my end.
They have already disconnected their website from their hosting and it was expected from my end. Its a positive sign for us that those scammers close all their activities after seeing scam accusation against them on Bitcointalk. I think they got it that now there is no chance to mislead worldwide crypto investors.

If you are an updated member of Cryptocurrency, you'll know that this coin is meant to scam people, Facebook has already announced the name of their token, and it's very obvious this is a scam project, only an idiot and a newbie will fall to this kind of trick.

Scammers are always active, where some amount is empty. They are very good at earning money by deceiving innocent people. For whom many countries have declared Bitcoin risky or illegal.  Good project fails their hype. Also I see the market going down. Their perfect conspiracy is making us miserable. First of all, it does not perceive that we are going to be cheating on Facebook.

Just want to leave this here for the record, in case it should accidentally be stumbled upon in the future:

This was an art project created by artist NILIcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=376122) who is now considered one of the first experimenters with NFTs (https://www.vinniejinn.com/post/nili-lerner-nft-artists-are-shaping-a-new-reality-of-the-financial-world), lol. She had been doing this type of thing since 2014 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=802673.0) with a bunch of different famous brands, which may or may not have IP infringement ramifications (though I'm leaning towards "not").

She now makes fun of the reactions Bitcointalk Police had toward her art.

https://twitter.com/NILIcoins/status/1660327596339482624

She even got a negative trust by a user literally named "Bitcoin Police"

Bitcoin-Police (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=380696)    2014-10-27    Reference (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=835192.msg9344003#msg9344003)    SCAM-POTENTIAL=100%
This retard released coins "ICoke", "IDisney", "IApple". Avoid this crap or join this chinese scammer when he gets sued.

Her account was hacked in 2019 and the merit along with it was sold. She has been unable to prove that she is the original owner of the account.
