Title: Suggestions for new Processor worth around $200 ?
Post by: mohammedfaiz143 on March 13, 2014, 08:40:06 PM
I was thinking to get a new processor for cpu mining worth around $200?

So what are my options ? AMD FX-8350 or i5 4570 or any other to get best hash rates for cpu mining?

Have you thought about just buying BTC with that $200? Or maybe invest in some cheap asic usb sticks?

no. because i was planning to make a mining rig for mining scrypt and the same time thought to include a good processor to mine some cpu coins like heavy or rie coin while giving gpus a break...

Although not as energy efficient as dedicated GPUs, you should check out AMD's APU models, such as their A-8 and A-10 processors. They are CPU processors with a GPU built in. At roughly 100 watts it will give a hash rate of 30-40 kh/s.

Heard of the iGPU in the 7850K of getting 100KH/s.

Thanks... But you mean 30 - 40 kh/s in which algo ?

The AMD FX-6300 is surprisingly good for ~$120. IMHO this is the absolute minimum you should get.

Get an FX-8320 if the board is AMD AM3+ or i5-4670k for Intel 1150. Both are unlocked and can be overclocked decently.

The FX-8320 is perhaps better at $160 than a 4670k at $240. You will always need to leave a thread free for gpu mining, and the FX-8320 has 8 threads, while the 4670k has 4.

Sorry, forgot to mention that it is for scrypt.
