Title: I am not doing any escrows for ChrisLandin
Post by: philipma1957 on May 20, 2019, 12:44:58 AM
He appears to be running a scam and I am not taking in any escrow funds from him.

I gave him a negative trust yesterday after he made some locked thread and tried to sell to two members and have me escrow.

He pm’d me today looking for more escrow services.

I do not trust him and won’t escrow for him.

Buyers beware. He is trying to get a 25% deposit and have me escrow 75%.

I do not escrow that way.

I take all funds to fully protect the buyer. Not 25%.

here is his thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5108238.0

and he wants a deposit and me to handle some but not all the funds. that is BS

This would allow the deposit to be stolen.

So because I had separate terms- you decided to not escrow- when they’re sending you funds themselves- which nobody has- or has even responded to me saying you even agreed to escrow. Exactly.

Also- there’s a user in my inbox that said YOU won’t escrow so I had to send upfront. My thing is that he said YOU told him. But you were supposed to be the escrow for ALL the funds because of the type of transaction. That right there- is sketchy. But good day.

Good call Phil. That's right up there with the escrow everything but shipping.  I'll always appreciate you helping me and others out in 2017 when that happened.

Chris - Either you escrow the full amount or you escrow none. That includes having the buyer put shipping costs in escrow. Anything less is not safe for the  buyer. If your gear is legit then you are safe.

I am tired . I think I will end my escrow service for the summer.
Others can do it.
I simply don’t want to deal with the hassles of doing it.

People don’t  seem to realize a 1 to 1.5 % fee means I need to do 66 to 100 escrows in a row correctly  to
Ensure a profit. A single mis send and the profits of a lot of good escrows are spent.

My cousin died after a 42 year life long fight with cystic fibrous.

I was ask to escrow for one person via pm for Chris.

He then tried to cut a deal with a second buyer and mentioned I was dealing with family problems as if he knew me well.

I am really angry that he did this.  My cousin was a good person and I was not happy to find he mentioned my pm to his second buyer. Worse yet I am not happy he asked for partial deposits .

As you mentioned I did an escrow in 2017 and 300 in shipping was stolen. I used my fees to,pay off all the shipping lost so buyers edit (lost) spent only their  escrow fees, but nothing else.

I will not allow partial escrow of any kind as I don’t want this to ever happen again.

I knew this would be moved here.

I do not like that  the thread for selling the gear is allowed to stay up and locked.

I feel that the seller is getting protected from a direct accusation from me in his thread...

I did tag him, but I think that when a seller is accused of a scam and there is evidence that it could be true he should not keep the locked thread protection on his thread. He said enough in pm's to indicate  he is not being honest and is trying to work around  my escrow terms designed  and refined by me to protect both buyers and sellers.

I do follow the OP here.... when escrow is needed you go all the way as the escrow demands, thats just normal.

No shady business on bitcointalk THX !!!

I figured the same, Chris Likely reported it. They like to use the system to suite their needs. A lot of people have had mini discussions here and there in other threads. I think when I get some time over the next few days maybe I'll reach out to some interested parties and try and come up with a compelling argument for change. I try to keep an open mind but I don't think restricting locked or self-mod topics (from marketplace) all together or to some degree will be anything but a net positive.
