New article on BlockChain24.co (https://www.blockchain24.co/what-can-we-buy-with-one-bitcoin/?utm_source=forum&utm_medium=referral) made me realize that I've never bought anything with Bitcoins. I mostly consider it as an investment target. Is it right? Cause this is a currency after all.

And this made me realized that I too have never bought anything substantial using Bitcoin directly as we usually convert our Bitcoin here to the local cash. Of course, with the cash we can buy anything we want. Bitcoin is designed as a peer-to-peer currency but this aspect is usually overlook and not given too much credit when we are talking about Bitcoin. People are more into holding and trading of Bitcoin these days. We need more merchants to be accepting Bitcoin and we need more Bitcoin holders to use their coin like cash. We would love to hear people buying cars, house and lot, big appliances, big-ticket jewelries and extravagant bags and the likes using Bitcoin (and one day maybe going to Mars can be paid by Bitcoin).

i have seen bitcoin mostly been used in trading investing , and gambling most of them convert to local currency , bitcoin is mostly used in online transactions , less its used in local payments , best go to Singapore there many business accepts bitcoin     

There are a lot of merchants that accepts bitcoin as payment. However, in some countries only selected few accepts bitcoin as payment. I haven't directly used bitcoin to purchase food, gadgets, pay bills and services, etc. However, the money that I have used to pay and buy fpr the things that I have mentioned above were from bitcoin. Let's just hope that as time goes by bitcoin will be fully accepted as an alternative payment method and serve as how it was intended to be used, not just a mere investment tool.

It's meant for currency but how can we help it if we see its value growing. Who wouldn't be tempted to hold it anyway?

That's right, in developed countries bitcoin is better known and some of them have accepted it and there are even some stores that have accepted bitcoin as their exchange tool. Hopefully over time, knowledge of bitcoin can spread more widely and more countries also accept it.

Bitcoin's price is too high and people would consider it a waste(especially in 3rd world countires) if they use it buying something rather than
exchanging it to their local currency. even I wouldn't use bitcoin to buy something not just because it's expensive but because there's

I've never bought anything with bitcoin, for me bitcoin is now closer to where I store assets than money. I also do not want to buy anything with bitcoin because I think in the future bitcoin will rise in price. My goal now is to store lots of bitcoin instead of using them.

Same here, I've never bought anything with it either. I see it as an investment, not a form spending (yet).

Yes I use it to by load for my cellular phone and also to top up some cash on my Mobile games.
I have been using it for a long time now and most of my fellow country men doesn't really like the idea of using it if we could use cash instead.

So far since the usage of Bitcoin in my place are limited,I can say that only in some occasions that I use bitcoin,yeah sometimes I use this currency to buy things online but most of the time I uses this to pay my Billings as this is the easiest and safest way of using this as money for transactions

You can buy freedom and peace of mind because Bitcoin is a non-debased currency that free from central banks' monetary policy. Depending on the Bitcoin price, you might be able to buy your future. *lol

No, seriously, I have bought copper membership and some social media bot followers directly using bitcoin.

You can get a lot with 1 BTC. But what you are going to get is about the current market value. I've used it for small shopping, but I wish it would be more common.

I never thought of buying something serious with bitcoin, I just think it's too valuable for me to spend it on things right now

Bitcoin is a long-term investment, if at this time you want to buy something with 1bitcoin, of course with a price of around $ 7K to $ 8K, you might not be able to buy big needs other than when you wait for bitcoin to return to higher prices. or you can buy altcoins that also grow well and sell when prices rise.

Luckily, there is a platform in where I live where you can use bitcoin to directly pay for you bills and other utilities. This however is not a smart move since bitcoin is a deflationary currency and at the same time an asset. It would be best spent on assets or things that would appreciate through time. Sadly, there isn't any platform here that enables that transaction.

It is the the money I use for purchasing anything on the internet. I have rarely sold BTC for dollars or other local currencies.  But I use it all the time. Just ordered some nice Pendleton blankets over the weekend.

You have the right to see it as whatever you want. To you, it's an investment, to others, it's an asset with a 'store of value' property, to me, it's all of that plus something that works as a medium of exchange.

I've lost count of the things I've bought with BTC over the years: from domains, seedboxes, to t-shirts, few cups of coffee, hard drives, etc.

I actually bought my last GPU last year (a GTX1060) with bitcoin. The platform we use doesn't even support bitcoin, but at the last moment i asked the seller if he would accept bitcoin and luckily he did. A regular bank wire transfer would take a couple of days for the seller to check and send you a message telling you that it was ok to pick up the item (or ship it), but thanks to that bitcoin transaction (which lasted a mere hour) i could pickup the item that very same day, which was actually my first time i completed a transaction on that site THAT quickly...

Of course that platform still doesn't support bitcoin, its supposed to use the country's fiat. But with our garbage fiat, everyone is simply hiding the "true" price in the comments or description, usually its in USD.

If only more people used OpenBazaar (http://openbazaar.org/) or such...

Many believe buying anything for bitcoin isnt worth it because it would be better to hodl those coins. Due to them being worth more over the next couple of months and then after they do increase in price a sense of regret will set in.

I believe that if you are holding Bitcoin right now, then continue to hold and do not sell.  But if you do not have it and you plan to buy it, then for me it is not worth doing.  The time has passed when you could buy it.

You can buy stuff on Amazon with bitcoin by paying through Purse.io, just so if you don't know.

Personally, I've bought my Ledger Nano S using BTC, and I pay my proxy provider BTC too; so there's that. For local commerce though, nope. Merchant adoption in the Philippines ain't that good yet.

Bitcoin gives you the chance to use it as you want, as investment or currency. The important is that bitcoin is being useful for you. You don't need to ask others if you are using it correctly. However it's still hard to use btc as currency in daily life, as most stores we make purchases don't accept the currency.
I find more options to spend bitcoins related to virtual goods, unfortunatelly it doesn't fit my needs, so I prefer to not use it as currency for now.

Why do you need to ask what are things you can buy with bitcoin? Well, in fact, you can buy everything with it. Just simply convert it to cash and go and spend it anywhere you wanted to. Beside from converting it to cash, there are still a small number of stores and institutions who accepts bitcoins as a payment option.

But it just means that bitcoin is not yet adopted as a real currency. It is mostly accepted as an investment. You were right but all you really

Its not right only treat bitcoin as investment, ypu should treat bitcoin as investment and currency, with more transaction volume bitcoin will become more valuable, in some place you still can't buy a lot of things, but more and more shop already started to accept bitcoin, so you need to wait for a moment to see the big adoption

It is a matter of decision making knowing that bitcoin have plenty of usage. You can use it for investment and in other side you can use it as payment option for your needs as there are many companies already who accept bitcoin as payment.

If I am going to buy something in the web then I prefer using bitcoin as it is very easy to use. As long as I need it then I can say that it's worth buying it using bitcoin.

I am using bitcoin to pay bills and buy game and phone credits. I do not see anything wrong if I spend them as well if I store them as an investment. Bitcoin can be used either way. I have a few bitcoins hidden away as an investment, waiting for the price to go extremely high. I also have crypto I use for trading and the profit I used to pay for utilities and buy things I want.

Basically, BTC is a cryptocurrency, "currency" meaning it is intended to be used to purchase something. But since people saw it grew in value dramatically and drastically through the years, they see it more as an asset or investment that will bring fortune or luck in the future. Honestly speaking, I also see BTC that way. I prefer hoarding and trading it than paying bills with it. I have seen that its supply could go scarce, meaning it could be as precious as gold. Actually, it's more expensive than gold now. But the sad truth is since it is highly volatile and is not physical, it could burst out any time soon. So to be safe, don't invest in BTC more than you are willing to lose, otherwise you'll go insane when it burst out like a bubble.

I have never experienced buying goods with BTC but have read about it and I wish that could buy something with BTC which will genuinely help me to survive in different countries without facing the Keos of currency exchange.

Buying something with BTC is more than worth it while traveling to different countries as it doesn't require currency exchange at every terminal and make exchange efficient to buy goods.

Indeed, in developed countries, bitcoin can buy houses, luxury cars and anything expensive. but according to that it depends on how we use the bitcoin. if I buy a bitcoin currency, I myself only use it for investment and when it's gone up then I sell it again.

There was a definitive shift in the way that Bitcoin was used after the 2017 ATH of $18 000+/BTC. People started to look at Bitcoin as a commodity and not as currency and this pose real problems for Bitcoin's future as a alternative payment option.

The Bitcoin hoarders are increasing and the merchants accepting Bitcoin are on the decline. I decided a long time ago, to adopt a 80/20% split in the way that I use my bitcoins, so 20% of my bitcoins will be used as a currency to pay for goods and services and 80% will be hoarded. <If everyone does this with all the coins they buy, Bitcoin would grow much faster>  ;)

What you can buy with one Bitcoin depends on the current price and that changes with time. In some less developed countries for the price of one Bitcoin you could buy a property, even house or cover all expenses for few months or even more.
Unfortunately there are still not enough merchants that would accept Bitcoin as a payment directly and that will remain so for multiple reasons but Bitcoin debit card is something that could be very helpful when buying goods and services.

It is use also for investing and paying some bills. Like also in Philippines accept bitcoin in transactions online or for payments.. In Asian countries many businesses use bitcoin.

My portfolio are divided into two category, I hold some  decent amount of bitoin i have decided not to utilize in a very long period of time, those bitcoin are considered as my investment bags and I also have some decent amount of bitcoin I used for trading and buying of things I need like for my monthly data subscription i use bitcoin as a payment option and for some online shopping (e.g current phone I'm using was bought with bitcoin) although bitcoin when compared to cash isn't used for much transaction but there's a satisfactory feeling i get from using bitcoin as a payment option instead of cash and I get unconsciously drawn to service providers that accepts bitcoin in my geographical location although this isn't legal yet.

i'v got a computers shops near my house that accepts bitcoin .. i can buy hardware,computer accessories and more using bitcoin :)
and from time to time i use G2A to get a new game with bitcoin.

Me i have bought some items from 2017-2018 using my bitcoin balance.First is my gaming ROG laptop which  I paid online from a person not a store and second is my phone same seller but different year other than not just common household things that i paid using bitcoin too

It all depends upon what you do with your coins, if you want to purchase anything you can very well do that and if you see bitcoin as an investment there is no point in selling now as everyone who invest are in for the long hold and if you want to purchase anything with bitcoin and even if non of the merchants in your country accepts bitcoin, you can sell your coins and with that amount in your bank account and do what ever you want, basically the choice is yours.

Depends on OP's country because even though more people,shops,services,places accepts Bitcoin recently, it's still different for certain countries. More transaction volume doesn't make Bitcoin valuable I mean it could but currently the traders are the ones making it valuable because of how most Bitcoin users view Bitcoin as an investment than a currency.

Generally bitcoin is using for trading, investment or gambling. But globalization has changed the atmosphere. There are a lot of Marchant who are accepting bitcoin as their payment method. Now, people can easily purchase products with bitcoin.

Because of the conditions in place I have not legalized bitcoin so I have not used bitcoin as a payment tool, but exchanged it with fiat first to buy goods.

I have used bitcoin to buy things and most to.e I use it to pay for softwares and games online and it one of the fastest and secured way of carrying out transactions. But huge Percentage of my usage is when I exchange it for cash to pay for goods in my local stores.

Here on my country if i sell now 1 bitcoin i can buy a good car, or if want i can buy more cars, 2 or 3, or if i want i can buy a pc and some smartphones directly with bitcoin but i don't need them now. I think is better now to hold bitcoin until grow and not buy with.

You should be aware bitcoin can be use as both function buying stuff and an investment place but you can't do it with money fiat. Money fiat is not an investment place, you can't rely on that in the future you will get profit if you still hold $100 from now on. But most likely your $100 will add if you buy bitcoin and hold it for long term.

Indeed, just a few merchant who accept bitcoin as payment system although it's about where you live. Maybe in some countries ever there the bitcoin user can buy everything with bitcoin. Government's regulation will make it happens, as much as possible the user bitcoin in your country must encourage to your government in order to accept bitcoin as payament system, so you will find a lot of merchanta who accept bitcoin.

Well, I bought many things with BTC already.. since plushies (lots of them lol) to smart TV and things like that..
Also hopefully I will be able use it to buy a bigger house by the end of this year if BTC prices predictions are correct

If that would help bitcoin's community build a strong foundation with regards to adoption, possible passive income generating business will be established soon. Bigger businesses will boom using bitcoin transactions became widely patronized by people, and it will help the value of each bitcoin became higher compared with normal currency. Bitcoin has no limitations.

You are right.  for a while.  now we use BTC as an investment and for trading.  in some major countries already use BTC for payments.  even some countries make crypto an asset to improve the economy.  BTC and crypto transactions in my country are banned.  but individually, I have used BTC to buy clothes to my friends.

I think you can now buy many products via bitcoin around the world! some of are countries now also directly support buy/sell via bitcoin, it's a good news for you! but it's for only some limited countries! better option is you can exchange bitcoin for paper money, many of countries around the world give you opportunity to exchange with their local currency! bitcoin is a volatile digital currency so everyone interested to hold their bitcoin for future growing! it's money, yes it's valuable then other regular currencies by it's own system.

If the value of Bitcoin is treated as a Bitcoin then it is worth to buy goods with it. In very few countries BTC is accepted as a mode of payment but sooner or later it is going to be accepted worldwide and that's the fact!

Bitcoin also can be as an investment and currency too. With one bitcoin you can buy anything, i mean 1 bitcoin is worth as almost $8k and with $8k you can buy some luxurious thing like car and many else.

That's right to name a few; however, depending on the locality and where you're in, Bitcoin can be used to pay for goods and services, sometimes, like any other currency in the market. I think the difference with Bitcoin and other digitally converted currency or medium is the fact that people choose not to use it that way. Right now, if you would use Bitcoin or cryptocurrency as any currency out there, then it would be the weakest and simplest way to use it, which in turn, would not serve it's currency purpose, which is as an investment medium. I mean, why would you use it that way, when you can use it to work for you.

A lot of things we can buy using 1 bitcoin. As a matter of fact, we can buy even half of it or even 50k satoshi. If ever, I have 1 bitcoin in my wallet I will never sell it until the price goes to 40K dollars. I hope that it will come true before I grab my 1 bitcoin. I buy lambo soon and grab a house and lot.

Today you can buy anything with btc, the only question is how fast will you find a seller with a good offer. But with some time and efforts put in, you will eventually find it. However, btc is really much more an investment tool than a currency. Bitcoin is more a crypto commodity. With 1 btc you can buy a lot of stuff, but if 1 btc is all you have, it's better to leave it for the future, as it can save you a lot of money or time to make the equal amount of money.

For the past 4 years I have bought several items by selling some bitcoins, and some of them have become long-term investments, so that later my dream of buying a home will come true.

I have been using bitcoin to buy things for the past 3 years. I only use fiat for food/petrol/rent but the person I pay rent to has started accepting bitcoin and said they will allow me to pay in it so they can keep it as an invesment. The lady I rent from is clever like that.

There is much much more, these are all online and deliver to my house. There is also a mining store where you can buy coffee and tea and treats for various crypto. It is the only physical place you can walk in and spend bitcoin.

I believe that the most profitable coin is Bitcoin.  He is always in trend and he will always grow and develop.  Because this is not a coin, this is already a legend.

Using bitcoin to buy things is worth it, but at times what we spend on a product turns more expensive when we calculate the amount spend when the price of bitcoin has increased. Likewise in the opposite way also things happen, as we've been getting more chances to use bitcoin it is getting to be more effective than the past where we had very limited access to use.

So far, I'm not ready to buy something for bitcoins. I also see it as an investment vehicle. Perhaps in the future I will be ready to pay them for some product or service. I think it's quite interesting.
