BBC has made a report stating Facebook is planning to issue a cryptocurrency named "Globalcoin" in 2020.
It would be a payment method for Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp.

This would be another leap forward for cryptocurrency. Facebook has realized crypto is the future and want's to be the first tech giant to connect it's users with crypto. But as some of the oppressive authorities are against the use of Crypto, Facebook is diversifying and moving out it's operation and as the article states this would be released only to a limited number of countries. Which I suppose would be crypto friendly ones.

Yeah, I read the same news on cointelegraph. BBC has reported that Facebook will launch a coin for payments in the next year.
This definitely a good news for the crypto community since it will create a much bigger awareness among people.
Also, it will enforce a form of trust among the people since Facebook is a reputed company and a reputed company using crypto will automatically make people trust them.
Earlier Facebook had also said that they will soon be launching a stable coin and now this. Combining these we can say that Facebook will launch a stable coin which will be used for payments.

This would be what will take the crypto market forward, as we all know, facebook is one of the platform with very large audience of about 2 billion people or even much more, though I believe some of those people are bots and others own more than one account, but it doesn't change the fact that their database is very large and the implementation of any cryptocurrency into their platform is not only going to increase the volume of the market but also increase the trust in the market because much more people would have trust.

I heard that it will be fully centralized and will bring disgrace for crypto community. It will be like gold in world of warcraft. Token in centralized database that has real world value.

Is that cryptocurrency? No. Facebook coin will be something like that. (to my knowledge)

The release of "Globalcoin" will be a good impetus for the next crypto rally. I think that 2020 will be very eventful. Also, we should not forget about TON(telegram coin).

I've seen a lot of topic about this Facebook coin in Bitcoin discussion and here in altcoin, I am not excited about it anymore, although Facebook is huge and they can do manipulation in the market, apart from being payment method for Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp what more can they offer that can shoot them to the top 5 unless they can create something innovative..

What is this, is this the official name that facebook is stating before? It was just facebook coin and now, they are going to make a coin that will be concerned on the holistic point. I think there is only 2 things it can achieve soon, to be successful or to fail. But honestly, I am not feeling well about facebook launching their own coin.

Facebook should launch Globalcoin for now. Faster will be better, considering that currently market conditions are also experiencing quite good growth. I mean that the bear season is over, so now is the right time to launch a new project. By becoming a payment method for Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp, of course it will be a great project. Because we know that social media is owned by almost everyone for now, to be honest I am very supportive. Thank you.

This news has been on for sometime in this space. It will really be a great move to the much talked about adoption of cryptocurrency. 2020 is already here, let's see how the Globalcoin will go.

They can do that because it is centralized but I'm looking at the positive impact that they may bring to the crypto community regards to their advertisement of crypto.

Exchange and we can decide of what can be the other use of it. We can use it as another payment method if we prefer to receive and accept it.

Mark tried to use the big name of Facebook to get people interested in the GlobalCoin project he made. The hope is to rival the existence of Bitcoin and then profit from it. I think the purpose is reasonable.

Yup the  news circulated long time ago but it amazes to  hear it over  an over. :) They're hyping all these.
Its possible that facebook will also create their own exchange while they are into stablecoin, this  will definitely be a game changer that will kill the biggest exchanges right now. They may not have to impose the KYC anymore upon its users, they already did it along time ago.

This is old news that is now materializing, they know that it's profitable in the long run and they want a slice on the growing cryptocurrency market, I will not be surprised that Google will also have one of its own, after small startups big companies are now rushing in.

Every crypto enthusiast is looking forward to the launch of the rumoured Facebook coin, normally it's going to be a plus for the crypto market, building more hopes, pulling in a massive crowd too. The entire market cap will have a reasonable increase. Very good news are dropping lately all gearing towards crypto adoption.

I also heard this news today on my Facebook wall. I thought the name will be 'Facebook coin' but it turns out to be 'GlobalCoin'.

And from I head it will become stable coin. I really don't know the utility of this coin. Gonna wait till launch.

Facebook always keeps them updated with technology, already they're into artificial intelligence and next level of development. Now looking upon the growth happening with blockchain Facebook has turned its attention towards blockchain based development. Without doubt Facebook will keep up the project.

Facebook would definitely create their own coin and would have a massive use case. Facebook alone have billions of users worldwide and using globalcoin as payment it would be the most valuable crypto asset. And I will not be surprise if Globalcoin will replace bitcoin at the top spot.

The idea is to launch it on the first quadrimester of 2020 and initially it will be available in 12 countries, what is a very low number taking in consideration the 193 countries of the world. I think it's a bad step as they are already starting restricting the use of the currency.
Besides that, it won't be decentralized and will count with help from traditional financial institutions, banks.

I don't think people are surprise at this, this has been in public domain for some time now. Will like to see how this would affect the cryptocurrencies in general, especially the Stable coin, and another thing I want to know is if they are going to be listed on Crypto exchanges which would be a great plus to the space

It shows how centralized this coin is. We should just stop talking about this and do not create hype around it because it unhealthy for crypto in my opinion.

They might consider the potential of crypto even they ban ICO advertisements in Facebook, nothing less we can't deny that crypto is good for the payment transactions and does really need in this online technology era, Facebook needs to be conscience atleast on their plan since too many news before we're out telling to have Facebook crypto before this globalcoin news.

Well, that's very good.Agree if this really happens to the cryptocurrency will cease to be treated as a bubble.Once that happens,banks will cease to exist.

Globalcoin or any other centralized cryptocurrencies should not capture the marketplace. We need to take care the decentralized market in our hands and keep work on investing to this market more than the centralized market.
This is my opinion to understand after this thread about this announcement.

It's a good question about listing, as the coin will be dedicated for fb transactions so if this will be listed it also bring impacts to the trading industry, it can help or it will just another hyped project that will be delivered as stable project which will be intentionally to welcome this chain from much wider audience.

This is a very good event. I think that there will be a lot of people willing to invest in this coin. Mark knows what he's doing, so I think those who manage to get this coin will be able to make good money.

The real question is why ??, is there here anyone on this forum or interested in crypto actually buys things or uses money on Facebook or Instagram, to me this seems like another cash grab an attempt to ride on the hype of crypto, probably many companies and investors will support it at first due to Facebook already has a wide range of users so they expect it to really go viral at first, but i am sure that it will wear off in the first couple of months of its launch, the only thing that it might do is give other companies the idea to think about crypto.

Year 2020 is not long because we are now already on the year 2019 and year 2020 is like 6 months away . if your die hard supporter of facebook platform then i think its not bad to support this coin but make sure to prioritze the original cryptos because we all can benefit with it .

yes this coin is likely simillar to other existing coins out there but this coin will have an important use on the facebook platform because facebook does not have its own payment/currency . facebook only use third party payment method .

So rumors about Whatsapp will be charged right if Facebook will launch a token called Globalcoin, seeing that everything comes to mind when the issue of Facebook banned crypto ads at the time, but now many large companies join Crypto with all this, that's all. Is it true that crypto will dominate the currency for the whole world in the future?

Well personally I think the name choice GlobalCoin is cool. Zuckerberg owns some of the largest social media platforms of this world and hence their adoption is a little "Global." Moreover, this will also help with the adoption we've been talking about everyday.

I am an active social media user and of course very happy if in 2020 I will get services that generate benefits from Facebook and other social media interactions.

Facebook has been talking about rewarding it's content creators so we could expect they being rewarded with crypto. It would surely undermine Youtube if Facebook video creators started making money in crypto but there's still no talk about rewarding the viewers, if they be able to share even a small fraction of their revenue with the users, they'd be a one stop solution like Tencent in China.

This is really good news for every crypto people and then facebook make a good move for lauching globalcoin in 2020 way back 2018 I heared somw news regarding this one and now its been spread to cryptocommunity if this happen next year then we will see a good move for Bitcoin Im hoping higher or back to its all time high since we already in the Bull run situation.

Definitely, this move will help in the adoption area. There are millions of users of FB alone. There's no denying the fact that in some way, this will really aid in spreading the concept of crypto in our everyday life.
