Title: Btc Wallet Error
Post by: ycubed10 on May 24, 2019, 02:35:02 PM
I've been using the WP plugin Blockonomics to recieve bitcoin payments from my site. Now it's showing this error:
Bitcoin wallet error 408

When I logged in to my Coinbase wallet, all my bitcoins were gone. Other users have also reported this problem using MCX and other wallets.

At least I only lost $24, but they must obviously fix this issue before more people get burned.

out of curiosity, is the money sent instantly to your Coinbase wallet?
Then there's no way for them to steal those $24.. unless you provide your account details. not even you have the private key to your Coinbase wallet so.

I think you should check again , there haven't any fraud being reported about the coinbase wallet.
You should get a more safer alternative like an offline wallet , other than that you could purchase a hardware wallet but trust me an offline wallet is extremely useful when it comes to cases like these, enable 2 step authentication by gooogle and make a strong non hackable password , check online on antivirus sites .
You will be good to go ✨
I hope you do fix this issue , write to their customer care first.

I use a coinbase wallet to store LTC and Bitcoin Cash, and rarely send or bitcoin transactions. When you face the problem of losing your bitcoin, have you tried to report your problem via email? At least you immediately report this case, in order to get an answer from them (coinbase)  https://support.coinbase.com/ . Thank you for the experience, I hope I don't experience cases like this.

Try contacting this man btc_enigma (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=148685) he is one of the representatives to promote blockonomics here on the forum or send a ticket on their support page here https://blockonomics.freshdesk.com/support/home

About your Coinbase account, maybe someone else knows your coinbase account. Are you using the same email and password to other websites? How about 2fa do you have it from your Coinbase account?

Always make sure that you are using 2fa to any of your web wallets to keep them safe and honestly, there is no web wallet will give you 100% secured. So always keep your web wallet with two-factor authentication email or 3rd party authenticator.

I'm using the plugin with 3 wallets: Coinbase (coinbase.com), Bitgo (bitgo.co) and Market Coin Exchange (mcxchange.co) and only one is compromised. So it must be coinbase's security. Blockonomics also strikes me as a scam.

Why is your conclusion that something is wrong with coinbase ?
Coinbase can't protect you if a 3rd party gains access to your credentials (did you use 2FA ?).

The preferred way to accept BTC on a website is always to do it yourself. And if this is not an option because the effort wouldn't be worth the amount you expect to get, use a payment processor. But if possible do it without WP plugins.

Only very few of them have an security audit being done. Vulnerabilities in WP plugins wouldn't be something new.

Are you using other plugins in your website or theme which you get it for free? Maybe your website is compromised.

Try to detect it using this website https://www.wpthemedetector.com/ and let's and maybe there is a hidden plugin installed on your website.

mcxchange.co never heard this website and plugin before but I tried searching it here on the forum, there is someone mention this on a different language section so this plugin is suspicious.

Better ask some other users here who use MCXchange because this plugin is not a well-known payment gateway.

@BitMaxz
Yes you are right. There was some talk in the Arabic local forum about this site.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5145945.0

Based on google translate the OP reported that his account got locked and they asked him to make a deposit off 0.03 Bitcoin or above to unlock his account. This is a well known scam attempt!

mikeywith and khaled0111 posted in that thread. Mentioning them just in case they subscribed to Piggy's bot so that they can see this post and read the thread.

@OP
Contact one of those guys, both are good forum members and read through the thread I posted.

Indeed bro, just mention my name and piggy's bot will let me know  ;D

I don't have a lot of details but to conclude the topic in Arabic, these guys  http://mcxchange.co held op's bitcoin and said he has to deposit 0.03 btc to "activate it" , pretty sure it is scam. These 3rd parties plugins and websites that pretend to be a sort of payment gateway are mostly scams.

Op i guess this should be in Scam accusation board, it has nothing to do any technicals.

This topic was opened only to continue with the scam, in reality the user ycubed10 is a scammer, he opens these topics and adds them to phone book sites like the following http://phone-search.pw/99890/EDL70G.php they look below all these links are indexed below all in each page of the "site", on the other hand I know perfectly who is the one is linked to a software development company and oh this chance is here asking a silly question of a no error, it's all a fallacy, I did my research which post in   https://www.publish0x.com/granrethory/the-irony-scam-new-scam-method-english-version-xjmeew  there can see exactly how the scam works

Yes, this user is uncessarily spamming. He has spammed the same thing on  reddit also https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/bsfffv/btc_wallet_error/

The facts are clear

Blockonomics only asks for your xpub https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kck3a-9nh6E to accept BTC. In fact we have a direct to wallet philosophy https://www.blockonomics.co/merchants where we never ask for private keys

How could get it ever get acccess your coinbase account ?
