New information

The Northern Cardinal 0.005 BTC loaded note is intended to show our commitment to innovation and improving our products. It also marks our return to providing paper wallets to the community. This note has been printed with new brand new equipment and uses the Secure Polymerbit Substrate introduced in April 2019.

The design efforts on this note alone have exceeded 100 hours, which we hope is evident in the quality of this release. A major effort was undertaken on coming up with a meaningful design. The Northern Cardinal features a representation of the blockchain. On its reverse, the bird is prominently displayed.

0.005 Bitcoin (5 mBTC) must be provided by the buyer. Note cannot be purchased unloaded. Keys produced by Adam Pinder.

Note designed & printed in Switzerland. Keys printed in UK.

Release expected Mid to Late June 2019. Please be aware that no preorders or reservations are possible.

Uff, looking really good.
When pre-order? - Oh, just read this:
[...]
Release expected Mid to Late June 2019. Please be aware that no preorders or reservations are possible.

So any chance to give us an update before it actually hits the store?

How can we get notified when it's available?

Title: Re: [ANN] [TEASER 2] Northern Cardinal Loaded Note
Post by: polymerbit on June 29, 2019, 09:28:13 AM
We promise we will let everyone know in advance before release.

But no reservations are possible. We found it is better to give everyone a chance equally. And for this release we will stick to this.

UPDATE:

We are pushing the release date into early July (next week). This is due to the fact that we want to 100% make sure all the notes are ready to go and properly quality controlled.

I don't wanna peel the note and get fucked cause these sell out in 5 minutes

Hello killyou72,

Unfortunately, the way the website system works is you have to place an order and pay before it accepts it.  :-\

Does the website accept visa or MasterCard or is it bitcoin only? I don't see anything on the website about what payments you accept.

I'm going to be very salty at 3pm tomorrow if I peel and I don't get one

Sorry Its 4PM NYC time. UK is 5 hours ahead.

Also yes, PayPal VISA and Mastercard are all accepted.

This is important, you can only use one coupon code per order. Its how the site works.

Dear god, I hope so! :P

There will be a starting limit of 2 per customer.

We will test this limit. If we find that there are still sufficient notes 2 hours after launch, the limit will be relaxed to 4 per customer.

In the case that this occurs, customers who placed an order before the relaxed limit can place a new order if they wish.

The sale will be carefully monitored. I will be on standby through the new chat app on the site if there any issues.

Title: Re: [ANN] [LAUNCH] Northern Cardinal Loaded Note 10 PM UK TIME tomorrow!
Post by: polymerbit on July 04, 2019, 07:17:33 PM
I apologise for the confusion. Used GMT which is not current.

The correct time is 5PM EST (NYC,FL)

10 PM UK TIME

11PM EUROPE

This means we still launch at the same time, only that we fixed it for the US.

Do we load the wallets during the checkout process?

Due to US law, US customers will follow different procedures. All will be explained on the desc.

You changed the terms on your website for US customers, before it said that the notes would be loaded from your(as in the customers wallet) wallet, after the note cleared customs and was delivered and now it is not. Why did you change the terms in the last 10 minutes?

The opposite. Before it said that you would load the notes. It was an earlier draft of the terms.

Terms are valid from sale starting in 5 minutes.

These are REQUIRED to be funded. The old terms would have made it so someone could have went back on their word and not funded the note. (Refer to smoothie's only unloaded King K set). Good on polymerbit for rectifying this.

also in case of a stolen or lost note.. I would hope that it still gets funded so nobody can game the system for a fake "error" note.

if you have scrip notes to use, use the offline order method. And we will sort payment out later, minus the value

Its obvious that for some reason this system does not like our new website  >:(

There are no dumb questions:) Most likely email your order number and txid of the .005 bitcoin transaction to the return email address of the order confirmation you got from Polymerbit. Save the txid so you can prove you sent the btc as requested. That should do it.

Thank you the info, but just to clarify:

Cannot anyone see TXIDs, since it is all the same address they have to send to?

E.g. this 0.05BTC with this TXID has not been send by me, but how would they ever know that if I just mail this TXID?

Transaction IDs are specific to the transaction. Just go to https://www.blockchain.com and enter your txid in the search box you will see you sent the bitcoin to the requested address.

You are an idiot - You cannot gauge how many people bought because of that... ???

How do you know someone didn't request a new address etc etc?

Anyhow, I'd still never deal with you again personally, and this is why - all you do is whine and complain, no matter what the outcome.... Did you get one? Are you happy for that at least? :P

IMPORTANT UPDATE

Okay, we have started contacting everyone for their TXID for the notes and order numbers.

Loading procedure

Step 1: If you haven't done so yet, please send BTC to the following address for loading: 3N36sCJXN1iQEzjJm7uhXBCZc2g56SppJ2

0.005 BTC plus transfer fees. We cannot give an exact figure of how they will be. So to simplify things, we only expect see the full 0.005 BTC in the wallet (so only cover the first fee to get it to us).

We are offering to cover the second fee to load as part the cost of the note.

Step 2: Then please send us the TXID and your order number.

You will also need to choose if your want the notes loaded before shipping (at your own risk) or when they are in your possession.
US residents can only have their notes loaded once they confirm their arrival.

Step 3: Once you received your note, please let us know.

Script Notes

Regarding the scrip notes; since they were not working correctly at the time of launch... we want to offer everyone who attempted to spend them yesterday retroactive use.

Even if you have placed an order through PayPal, we will refund you the difference if you present valid and peeled scrip note codes + SN.

I apologise for the confusion and mess this has caused. But we will do everything we can do make it right.

Exactly this. We will keep a close eye on the BTC coming in and the associated addresses.

Each order will have an associated TXID. We are building a spreadsheet for it.

That is why we need your order number. We can then match all. And see who is outstanding  ;)

This is why you should use a payment processor that gives each customer their own BTC address to pay...  makes it super easy to keep track of any and all orders.  ;)

Yes it would be problematic if honest customer pays from exchange where they do not control private key.  Dishonest customer notices this (because exchanges tend to batch transactions and are easily visible) and says that was my transaction.  You would not likely get the exchange to investigate this, so it would potentially never get resolved.

Yes it would be problematic if honest customer pays from exchange where they do not control private key.  Dishonest customer notices this (because exchanges tend to batch transactions and are easily visible) and says that was my transaction.  You would not likely get the exchange to investigate this, so it would potentially never get resolved.
There is an easy solution for that: "Though luck". Either you can proof you bought the note and loaded it or you get nothing. Plus, as they used an exchange to sent the funds, it cannot be returned. ‍

I do agree that Polymerbit should have used multiple address so it would be a lot easier to track who paid what.

You could always send a screenshot of the transaction from the exchange if that would be the case.

Easily faked with "Inspect element" and just editing it to be whatever you want it to be.

For this run we found it was mostly people we know that ordered, some of whom I've had the pleasure of meeting in person. I strongly doubt someone will try to cheat us or others out of 0.005 BTC because it would be swiftly noticed; and the party at fault would be publicly banned from ordering from us again.

We agree that for the future better measures can be implemented. And we will be looking at options after shipping these out. However, for this run it seems that this potential event would be quite limited in scope if it were to occur.

Since this series will continue with higher denominations (therefore higher risk), it will be imperative to mitigate this for the next run.

The next note in the series, code name: 'blue jay' will be 0.01 BTC.

We appreciate you brought this to our attention.

So if you haven't done so already, please send us your order number and TXID.

We cannot ship without both payments in order.  :)
