Title: Fake account.
Post by: The Cryptovator on May 24, 2019, 08:18:53 PM
Noticed from BPIP search (https://bpip.org/search.aspx?q=coolcryptovator), someone has been created a account called "Coolcryptovator999 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2599020). I don't know who have created it, this account is not control by me or this is not my alt account.

Account has been created on May 12, 2019, 05:03:22 PM, means its done recently. Perhaps peoples will confuse by username. So avoid dealing with that account, its not me.

It is a fairly new account and no one will confuse that account with yours until they could ramp up reputation and merits like you do and be a direct competitor which is highly unlikely, so there is nothing to worry about mate  ;). You could find many newbie accounts with similar username as other senior accounts and it is not nothing new and with the new merit system the chance of spending time to rank that account to impersonate are slim.

No, I am not worried. This post just for information and clarification. To be honest, besides of reputation I have build lot of enemy on this forum. So they are always trying to find new way to attack me like alts, merit abuse etc etc. So this statement is just for reference, nothing else.
Recently saw your fight against scammers and you are doing a good job at that and helping the community and the alt attack is nothing new and the community will stand by you.

I think its not a new thing. Its so much common that who are working for forum improvement will be attacked by this kind of guys. You can take it as a part of your forum journey. For the fact of comparison i believe users will not take the wrong decision between you and that simillar profile.

At a glance I saw peofile: @ Coolcryptovator999 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2599020), since registration, 12 may 2019 has not yet posted a post,
I suspect this account is strong, just want to imitate the original account, whether it is intended, intentional, or there are other elements,
What is clear is that the original account, has marked it, is now safe.

My skin has been become well upholstered already, so I am not worried about that. But someone should not think that account is my alt and make a deal. Who know if that guy is a scammer? Thats why once I have noticed then I share with my statement. I know this isn't big deal, but I don't like misuse my username.

Leave him a neutral feedback, just in case.
It was done before your reply.

Correct, there has been instance before wherein someone will create similar names in the community to somewhat misled people here. I think this is good move by @Coolcryptovator to give us a fair warning. Bitcoin price is going up, and so are the scammers and there might be some newbies who can fall for this trap and thinking they are talking to the real @Coolcryptovator.

If any newbie put their foot on this kinda trap then basically we don't have much to do. In my point of view every single user should investigate a profile deeply before doing any amount of transaction or getting any services. Its the reason why we got trust system on our forum which reflect the trust symbol on every trusted members profile. Yeah its not rare to find someone who made this kind of mistakes in the past but upcoming users should be aware of this for keep them far from being scammed. That's why its really important for a user to study all the existing components of the forum for a safer journey.
