Title: [RESURRECTION] Bringing Electric back to the grid, Community Backed Development!
Post by: soopy452000 on March 14, 2014, 01:58:30 AM

Dear All,

While making a small announcement , I would like to make it clear that all resurrection work that I do are solely based on and I rely on and wish that they would be appreciated with your generous and kind donations , I just want to let you all know that I'm not here to rake millions and millions through my work nor I am mining these coins or hold these coins in millions nor that I have mined these coins in large amounts and holding them nor that like the Original Developer I have premine and can dump them anytime and make a profit.

I simply work on a abandoned coin when I see it has potential and there's a good community behind it supporting it , now ofcourse while I put all my time into this and do all the needful there's nothing I'm gaining or profiting off nor am I expecting anything in return however it would have been great if my efforts are appreciated and respected by the community with such donations as I do also have running costs and other things to attend to like all of us humans do , commitments , bills and responsibilities and everything for me comes at a price though I do not set prices for what I do , it would have been nicer and respectful if my work and time were to be compensated by your generous contributions/donations for uninterrupted flow of my work and to help me with my commitments while I'm working.

Please do post your issues below and I will do my best to help overcome them , I have provided a working node and should help you sync to the blockchain without issues.

Also this is still the coin of the original developer and is not a take over , I'm merely assisting and supporting the community as well as the coin to get things stable and in the working direction.

All the very best and Success.
Regards,

Soopy

PS: If you find it stuck and not syncing , backup your wallet.dat and delete everything in your %APPDATA%/Electric , create .conf with the above information and let the blockchain download afresh , things should work thereafter.

Just a suggestion...

altcoinfaucet was generous enough to provide a working blockchain but I'm sure he/she would be happier if we weren't using their bandwidth to download large 100mb+ files.

Maybe get that uploaded/mirrored elsewhere to save him some BW. He's already running a faucet for "us."

Oh, also... For anyone that might think they lost their coins in/around the fork try to force a recheck after a full sync.

Ie,
Code:
./electric-qt -recheck

True mate , I will be uploading the block chain to another host as well alsi by now people will be able to directly sync without the need to replace the blockchain files etc.

Replace your current datafiles with contents.

Do you still have a balance in the mining pool?
Have you updated your wallet?
Have you run -recheck on the wallet?
Have you contacted the mining pool?
Do You have a transaction Number that can be checked?
Do You have a wallet address that can be checked?

Your VOLT address as viewed from the correct fork has more than 500 transactions.
Edit: There appears to be something strange about this address it shows a balance when viewing TX ID and a 0 balance when viewing the address directly:https://altexplorer.net/address/QNXNjhu6Zzdoq3BXJRzrK5FfHbRFrFFG2B (https://altexplorer.net/address/QNXNjhu6Zzdoq3BXJRzrK5FfHbRFrFFG2B)
Correction:
Too many transaction to view this address

The maximum is: 500. Please view this address with the wallet associated with it or view the transaction directly.
- See more at: https://altexplorer.net/address/QNXNjhu6Zzdoq3BXJRzrK5FfHbRFrFFG2B#sthash.BrtJ3Jjd.dpuf

Transaction Sent:
If you can see this in your wallet you are on the correct fork:
http://altexplorer.net/tx/94020df0cc8033eefed58150e4aa649b6c3cb85baa44f3903099b871f93665a9 (http://altexplorer.net/tx/94020df0cc8033eefed58150e4aa649b6c3cb85baa44f3903099b871f93665a9)

If NOT: first download the Zipped Block-chain http://uploads.altcoinfaucet.net/electric_chain.zip (http://uploads.altcoinfaucet.net/electric_chain.zip) and overwrite the datafiles in %appdata%/electric with the contents.
This will get you on the correct forked and synced very quickly after that!

To Recheck in Windows(Adjust the following to suit your OS and Program Location):
Open a CMD Window
Code:
>cd %ProgramFiles(x86)%\electric
C:\Program Files (x86)\Electric>Electric-qt.exe -recheck

Once you are sure everything is correct and failing any ability to communicate with the mining pool.
You may wish to gamble on an auto payout which, if working, will transfer your complete balance.

PLEASE RESURRECT THIS COIN. ELECTRIC COIN IS DELIBERATELY BEING NEGLECTED.

Hope that it will pay out in the future "Confirmed   53,516,742.772440 :'(
What have you done to try and remedy this?
Do you still have a balance in the mining pool?
Have you updated your wallet?
Have you run -recheck on the wallet?
Have you contacted the mining pool?
Do You have a transaction Number that can be checked?
Do You have a wallet address that can be checked?

Never seen a wall of questions like that! :) Probably you've got him scared with those.

Haha! Lol! :D
Hi soopy452000, please check your PMs about Proposal.

Howdy. Trying to update my old wallet. Downloaded this new one and replaced the old one (backed up wallet.dat and everything else).

It doesn't sync or do anything... but hey it launches... which is more than I can say for most osx wallets in 10.7.4.

I don't know where to place the new blockchain or the new nodes in osx. I cannot find a conf file..  looking in package contents of the app itself and in application support.

If some kind soul could walk me through getting this new wallet synced I would be very grateful...  and will even give you a tip (provided the coins that were autopaid to the old wallet by mistake show up).

You datafiles should be located with your wallet in something like ~/Library/Application Support/Electric (hidden in some versions of osx)
The included peer.dat should take care of your node requirements.
Electric.conf goes in there as well; you need to create your own from a text file.

Good Luck

Nice to see some community backing for the coin finally! Has the official dev approved of having the coin taken over yet though? I'm a proud supporter of volt and see a bright future for it; but we just need to get over this rough patch, which is firstly the dev not doing anything with it.

New Update with Openssl Heartbleed Addressed , KGW TW Fixed , Checkpointed will be posted within the next 24 hours.

Please keep an eye and there will be hardfork.

PS:

I get an incorrect database error, it seems your database/log files are needed as well in that zip, trying to rebuild from scratch dies with incorrect proof of work and remains stuck at block 479
I should mention that I built from source and still seem to get version 1.1 (presumably '"version" : 1010000' is the actual version string) .... please post latest sources on github as well!

I am in the process of writing the preliminary pages for Electric VOLT.  I need help from the Electric Community in order fully complete it.  Historical points since the its launch date (when was it launched?).  I want important points included.  Any further suggestions are welcome.  Please consider donating towards the future publication of the book.  I expect it to be published in the summer.

We 7th on Cryptsy voting but they don't seem to be regularly adding news coins anymore.
Or if anybody fancy's dumping like 5 BTC on Mintpal votes that would be incredible lol

This coin really needs a big exchange just to get some exposure and interest. Cryptsy looks like the nearest step to that goal as VOLT is 6th on voting list.
Lets hope it gets added soon and give this coin some momentum.

Soopy you alive ?

Soopy is working hard on BeeCoin right now. Allow him some time, he should be back here after the high demand transition period.
He is doing a great job, and if bee turns into a success, maybe all Soopy's adopted coins will go up together :)

New Update coming to address the Openssl security issue , please keep an eye.

Hi soopy, I've trying to sync my wallet but it does not. I downloaded the chain that it's on this thread. I deleted all the files and copied the new chain in the roaming electric folder, but it does not do anything. I am doing it with windows. Do you know how I can solve it?. Thanks.

Ah, Electric Volt, I remember this coin, it got a bit lost and off track at some point but it's great to see a community effort put into place to get it back on track.
I've been following CoinO for the past few weeks, they were in the same situation and it looks like they're pulling something off.

I hope you are able to get the same results, since I'm a bit nostalgic about Volt i'll put in a word for you to be considered for implementation in the CryptoRush Public Beta. No promises though!

EDIT: just say the last post date of the previous post, did the community effort die already? :(

Wondering if there are any current addnodes? I was connected fine, but it seems only to a single peer, which has now dropped off.

I keep historical logs and there were 92 different IPs that I've connected to in the past month or so, but none seem to be valid now.

Is this coin dead? Was I just connected to the exchange as a peer?

Comkort is ceasing trading at the end of this month, and closing after that. If you have a VOLT wallet/balance, and don't want to hodl, you should probably trade it now. :)

Yes we seem to have low connections, I can try to host a permanent node and perhaps a faucet if there is some help to keep it supplied.

2 year necrobump in case there's anyone who still has an old wallet, and is feeling nostalgic.

I've compiled a fresh version of VOLT/Electric for Windows: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=396293.msg21702006#msg21702006

The network is still active and the blockchain is moving.

Count me in to supply the faucet coins

Nearly 4 years later... seems to be only one node (besides my own) that I can find, but they're mining as I type this. The blockchain is still moving.

Code:
# coin: electric
addnode=124.187.101.196
addnode=91.121.221.51
addnode=149.28.164.168
