Title: [NEWS]Bitcointalk Newsletter - Weekly report of all interesting topics DRAFT!
Post by: TheBeardedBaby on May 29, 2019, 08:37:32 PM
A few words..
I was hoping for something like this to appear for a very long time, It's very useful for people which visit the site not so often and what to know what is going on here with jsut one click...
I wanted to start this project long ago but the lack of time is what made me do it just now. Here is what my plans are and some questions.
1. Users can submit interesting topics/comments which can be listed in this thread.
2. I'll do it on a weekly basis, people suggest topics and they will be added to the list of course after some consideration, at the end of the week, I'll archive the current list of the week so everyone can have access to the archive anytime. The OP will always contain the current week list.
3. I would like to keep it spam-free and I want to find appropriate place for the thread... looking for suggestions. Hoping to have some exposure too.
4. Below is my draft work, hope you like it guys and any suggestions are welcome :)

Really nice, I wish there was one in English too, btw I tried to merit your post but I got an error, a weird one: " You cannot merit that post" what the hell??? I don't remember seeing this one before. That's why I merited your post here.

I must commend your handwork @iasenko, your proposal is a nice job well done and hope it be sustain for the forum as the forum over due for such. Importantly, the new project update should be of most important in regard to forum Newsletter, if not on daily basis but the other forum Newsletter can be on weekly basis, just my suggestion.

Edit: It would have be nice if this will be self moderation thread to avoid garbage forum members.

Where is the drama A.K.A “weekly DT abuse” section?

I came for the technology, stayed for the drama.

But seriously, I support this. I don’t have as much time as I had back in the old days and I’ll be considerably busy this year, so that would really help me a lot (I like to stay tuned to what is happening, which is something I like about Reddit).

A weekly two-line summary of the developments in the Wall Observer thread would be nice too, it has interesting posts but too much to read everything.

Generally, such big thread should be self-moderated to avoid spam, because such big thread is a very favorite target of spammers. Additionally, beside four main sections in the OP, we should have sub-sections for each. Those sub-sections should categorise things on:
- Wallet upgrades (bitcoin/ altcoins), especially from most well-know wallet providers.
- Latest news on phising sites, fake wallets.
- Newest found and verified scam projects.
- Breaking news on law debates, FIOD's stuffs, etc.

Nice idea. I often miss to find some interesting topics because I don't always have enough time to check all the main Bitcointalk boards. So, such newsletter would be very useful for me. @iasenko, I hope that you will have enough time and motivation to do this work. I'm sure that our community will help you.
What I wouldn't like to see in this newsletter - summary of drama in Reputation board :D.
@Oyarebu, @thd26bct, it's impossible to start self moderated topic in Meta. And I'm not sure which board would be most appropriate board for this newsletter.

And I'm not sure which board would be most appropriate board for this newsletter.
Beginners & Help, why not? Ignoring the name of the board, and looking at the main targets of the newsletter, is to give weekly update on all interesting topics/ serious things happen in the forum.

The newsletter is definitely for all users, but there are reasons why I think we should publish it in B&H board.
- High rank users can more easily find what they need (mainly because they know where to find it, and have enough skills to effectively find what they need);
- High rank users don't care to visit B&H if there is a topic that they are interested in;
- Beginners & newbies actually have bigger demands on such newsletter and weekly updates on important stuffs;
- Self-moderation is available in this board.
Consequently, I believe that Beginners & Help is a good place for the newsletter.

Suggested local rules:
- Spam posts will be deleted by OP without notifications.
- Readers should support OP by reporting any spam post they see in the topic to moderators

Topics usually lose their importance over time, so even if there is an important topic for everyone, it may end within a week.
I suggest that someone create an infographic that facilitates many topics in one place.

I wish there would be Bitcointalk Crossword Puzzle for some fun.

This should be mostly user generated list, bacause I have no time to browse the whole forum constantly.
I'm sure there's gonna be a lot of spam as well but I want to do a self-moderated thread to keep away the spammers.

If you want drama, no problem we have plenty material already, but the post will be quite long then :)

A weekly two-line summary of the developments in the Wall Observer thread would be nice too, it has interesting posts but too much to read everything.

Then someone should report this as I barely look into it, full of jokes and fun but it's hard to find any valuable info there..
And I'm not sure which board would be most appropriate board for this newsletter.

I was thinking about it too, I have a few other options. Reputation- is full of different data so it's kind of OK there, and we have also the Off-topic section, bit there the thread won't be very popular and all the post "bots" will join and make quite a lot of work to clean the thread.

Topics usually lose their importance over time, so even if there is an important topic for everyone, it may end within a week.
I suggest that someone create an infographic that facilitates many topics in one place.

That would be great but I don's see who is going to do it. It's much more work than just copy and add to the OP.

 Following that thread is pain and weekly two line summary for that thread, look like you are joking now.

That is a big thread, in which new page pops up nearly less than one hour, so you are right that there is no one can spend time to look at it continuously; then make a summary on weekly basis to disclose what's going on during each two-week period. That's a huge wordloads for someone whom have interests and curiosity to do this; and they might go crazy with such task. Even someone do it, there is no one else can verify (or have interests and actually spend time to verify) that provided summary is right and neutrally reflects things happend in each two-week window.  :-\
Maybe, if someone do it, they should only focus on charts, and technical analyses, ignore all funny stuffs (cakes, restaurants, beaches, and so on). However, it is still a huge task.

Perhaps, you have our Board on Ignore... It also happened to me back then, and @LoyceV told me the same thing which is true.

Maybe this news things should be on B&H Section too, not only here on Meta. Besides only a few number of users are visiting Meta. Good Luck Reporter iasenko 😊

I think it can be interesting...

but I don't see many people being interested in anything recently on Bitcointalk forum...
